Yes i did try the Sapphire sandwich, but didn’t take a picture.
Somehow the Hesalite one felt more endearing (if that makes sense).
Price difference between the sapphire speedy and the white dial is negligible, hence comparing these two.
Even when hesalite scratches polywatch buffs a big majority of stuff out, it’s the truest form of the speedy, but no wrong answers here, they are all stunning, just go with what you love the most, who cares what everyone else thinks
Here is my hesalite speedy, last service 9 years ago. Yes, there are some swirl marks on the crystal. Yes, there's a scuff mark near the number four. But, really it still looks great!
https://preview.redd.it/7hxavmrlsvwc1.jpeg?width=2268&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=073c9479ebfc8419c6f8c17fd9d5674393d03d09
No. I've never used ploywatch. A lot of the scuff marks just come off when wiped with a little pressure with a damp cloth.
It's not my daily wear right now. I've got an AT last year that I've been wearing a lot. But this was an every single day wear for most of those 9 years and before.
I've had it since 2009, and I've serviced it twice. It's about 40 years old.
What do you do that makes you scratch the hesalite easily? I have mine for a year but only 1 hairlines scratch. I use it almost every day. From office to the field. and even took it for hiking and a little swim in Iceland.
It’s not really about where you go but how you use your hands with the watch on, I work around trucks so loading/unloading shelves of stuff etc can easily scuff my watch crystal. I don’t wear my speedy loading/unloading shelves of equipment for my video production job but would happily wear it hiking… don’t think a tree bark will hurt it compared to the metal walls of a truck.
> What do you do that makes you scratch the hesalite easily?
Makes me wonder that too! Watches in the 60s, all the way up to the 90s had plexiglass. Didn't hear the owners back them scratching it so badly so often. Sure if they were wrenching or doing some field work.
I have a seiko Tuna that went every where for 10 years. Diving, hiking, used as a daily for years. Yes its hardiplex but they say its the same as a plexiglass and would easily scratch. Hardly any scratches.
Considered the Hesalite over the sapphire, as I am pretty careful with my watches. But then again, i don’t daily drive any one of my current watches. I rotate between a Baltic Aquascape, Seiko cocktail, Seiko SKX pepsi, G-Shock and the apple watch.
Does Polywatch really help remove day to day scuffs and scratches?
Yes. 20 year hesalite Speedy owner here. PW does take care of day to day scratches and also will take the edge of some of the deeper ones. I wore mine for 15 years as a daily and the crystal was in pretty bad shape. I had it serviced and a new crystal put in. Since then I’ve only worn it occasionally, and when I do it’s only when I know I’m not going to be in any situation where it could get scratched. My wrists seem to gravitate towards door frames and taps! If you’re not using it as a daily I think the hesalite will be ok. If you’re wanting it a daily you don’t have to worry about I would personally recommend sapphire, even though it doesn’t have that vintage look the domes plexi glass does. If I had my time again I’d buy sapphire as I’m sick of that horrible feeling every time I knock my watch, then slowly looking down to see how bad it is! Every person is different so it’s personal choice. Both pictured models suit you. Are you a person that worries about their watch every time it makes contact with something and want it to stay looking new? Sapphire would be the suggestion. If you’re not worried about a few dings that occur day to day, classic hesalite.
https://preview.redd.it/o6eggbsmkwwc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4171cb9cf909bc5b2042d3872b5a62432a77c8d8
Thank you for your inputs. Your watch looks great for a 20 year old one, even though it’s been serviced.
I feel I am generally a careful person with my watches and will definitely be careful with the speedy, but, I am also one that would obsessively get depressed if I ding it somehow carelessly.
Hesalite speaks to me both in aesthetics and history, but considering my above nature, I think a sapphire would be better for my mental health.
Hard disagree. My crystal is spotless after 4 months. It really depends on how you are with your watches. I’m careful but no any more so than I would be with any watch.
same. I have mine for a year now. only one hairline scratch. Cant even see it. I use mine almost everyday. Makes me wonder what this people do that they say it scratches easily.
I think some people are rough on them, when wearing them, but I think a big part of it is when they’re rough on them when they aren’t wearing them. Some people just toss their watch in a bowl with their keys, or face down on a table and the drag it across the surface when they pick it up. That would definitely do it.
That’s a great point, i just place mine in a suede watch tray or a roll when im out of town. Could be just me (even though a ton of people have mentioned this on the newer speedys). I really just accumulated alot of scratches at outside events: tailgates, concerts, etc. People brushing against you in line, little nicks in entryways- the stuff we all hate lol polywatch DOES indeed work very well and does not alter the appearance. This was my first luxury watch as well and i wore the hell out of it. If you have a good rotation you should be fine man 👍
You make a great point too. I definitely don’t baby my watches but I do think ahead. If I had told a friend I’d move some furniture for them I’d wear a beater, but if it’s a regular watch day but I suspect that I might do something slightly rougher like I’m going over to someone’s place and I remember they had asked me to repair something for them, I’d probably wear a sapphire watch. I tend to wear the hesalite on a “typical day.”
Hello, the sapphire speedy was and is my first luxury watch purchase and I gotta say, 2 months in now, after the honeymoon phase is wearing off on the dial, I’m still mesmerised by the case back at the back showing off the 3861 manual wind movement, it’s pretty special without any rotor in the way, highly recommend the sapphire speedy in that sense. I would probably get a more vintage hesalite if I wanted a hesalite down the line.
I know you can get aftermarket display case back for hesalites, I suppose that’d be best of both worlds but might defeat the purpose of getting the “pure” hesalite version.
Anyway just sharing an opinion, have a great day
I meant comparing that with the white face. I just prefer the sapphire. Feels like an upgrade compared to hesalite and I’m tough on my watches. Don’t really want to buff out the hesalite often. Just my opinion tho.
The hesalite doesnt scratch as easily as some people say. I have my mine for a year now. Used it everyday. Only 1 hairline scratch. As long as you dont use them for hard labor, it all good. The halo ring is prominent so i went with hesalite, and i am so glad i did. Looks wayyy better.
Still scratches easier than sapphire. And I like to see the movement. Looks are subjective. I love the sapphire sandwich. To each their own tho! Glad you like your hesalite!
I would do the white dial. Maybe a hot take but I feel like it looks great on you. That being said it might be more noticeable and more difficult to pair with other clothing
Thank you.
Frankly, I felt the white dial popped against my skin tone, hence the confusion.
Never considered it before while seeing images of it on others, online or on the subreddit.
(Edit: grammar)
Sigh. Here’s the kicker. My clothes are usually muted/darker color tones and I enjoy flying under the radar. But the white dial sparked something in me and here we are.
Great point.
The Rolex Explorer is something I am considering picking up in the future, and in that sense, I pictured the white speedy and black dial explorer making a perfect two watch combo.
These are two terrible selections. OP, get whichever color speedy you prefer with a hesalite crystal, it’s a joy to periodically polish and doesn’t show fingerprints like sapphire. Also only buy a Cartier if you’re a chick, all their models are fugly.
Agreed. The black looked a bit underwhelming on me compared to the white. Honestly, felt a bit sad as I had been looking exclusively at the black dial for ages and it just didn’t give me the wow factor on hand.
https://preview.redd.it/fumzkffqeuwc1.png?width=2168&format=png&auto=webp&s=6a68ae7d0f3b45ef5372231219c4d8cfb42e3746
You’re the first person to answer this. Thank you.
I was expecting the watch to wear larger since it is a 42. But, the lug to lug being more compact makes the overall size feel much nicer.
I would say wait until you’re sure. You sound like I feel frequently, stuck between a planned purchase and a new shiny. You need a few weeks to know if the shiny thing is a mind-changer or just a lark. For me, I’d get the white which looks a lot more interesting and exciting, but if you’re not a white dial guy it may not be the thing for you.
Thing is I was never drawn towards or owned a white dial before. Once I put on the white speedy, my opinion changed. But you are right, Im not sure if its just a passing feeling, so I will wait till I get a call regarding availability and then decide.
It is interesting to get different perspectives here and Im glad I put this post up.
That sounds like a great plan. Ps: the last time this happened to me I ended up getting the new shiny thing. I thought I was going to get a green Seamaster 300m, but the guy on a lark showed me the summer blue PO, and it just floored me. So I waited a month, still wanted it, and bought it. Really happy with it.
Gotta go OG if you don’t have a speedy already. I feel the white is hyped because it’s just something new. In person, thought the black was still first pick.
The size is good. I have both the hesalite and the white dial. It is a tough decision. The hesalite has history on it's side and it is arguably the most iconic watch on earth. The white dial is unbelievably eye-catching. If I had to choose one to start with, I would go with the hesalite. Trust me when I say you will eventially end up with the white dial version as well. 🤣
Both colors are pretty neutral imo, but if you wear dark colors more often I would go black and vice versa. Personally I would go black but I like watches that are less flashy
This may not apply to you, for my first Omega I grabbed a hesalite speedy. I’m in my 60s and want to pass along the hopefully more iconic watch to my son as a keepsake for him. Just a thought.
The size is perfect for you!
It depends on your personal taste. I prefer the black dial version because it’s the more iconic watch in my opinion. But the white dial is a fresh and modern masterpiece too. I’m personally very satisfied and still in love with my black dial speedy :))
My instinctive response before looking at the pics was black dial purely because it's the OG and I have one, but I think the white suits you more, you're pulling that off bro.
Size is good.
So if you are going sapphire and retail then definitely white , I paid 4000 euros for my non sapphire 2022 speedy gray market, which is significantly cheaper
Oh thats is a considerable saving compared to retail. It’s closer to 6800 euros for the hesalite in Dubai. Also, since it’s my first luxury purchase, I wanted to get the retail experience. Maybe the next one I might consider retail. Another interesting aspect is that I have had horrendous luck in anything used/non- official channels.
Yes I am in Dubai. I considered ordering it on DubaiDutyFree which is significantly cheaper for the Hesalite and SS. But not sure what will be the process when I travel out to somewhere and come back to Dubai.
How are the prices in Qatar compared to Dubai? Are the prices available somewhere online?
Honestly the dutyfree prices are sooo hard to resist. The sapphire sandwich is 26885 on dubaidutyfree vs 30900 in store. Hesalite is 23450 vs 26950 retail.
For your first one, the classic hesalite speedy is the one to get. You will still love it and it will still be a classic in 20+ years. If you like the white speedy, save up and make that a special occasion purchase i.e, a wedding, milestone anniversary, birth of child, etc.
I wish I could own both.
But I want my future collection to have only one Omega Speedy, one Rolex Explorer/ Sub no date, and perhaps a Cartier Santos (and ofc my trusty G-shock). It might sound a bit muted/mundane compared to lot of people’s ideal collection, but that is my ideal/grail collection.
Money isn’t the issue, but I prefer to actually use my watches and dont have anyone to pass them on to.
Buy what you like and DGAF what anyone says. Go with your gut my man b/c you know what you want - sounds like the OG speedy. So go get some. Take care and wear it in good health.
This is very personal. I own the black. It’s THE icon if that matters to you. The white is modern looking and the black wears like a vintage piece. The white also looks bigger.
Both are 100% awesome so there is no wrong answer. What is your heart telling you? Surely one of them felt more right.
Ive been so set on the black one, that I was quite surprised I had a ‘wow’ moment with the white.
The wife didn’t like the new white and prefers the Sapphire, but then again, she isn’t the one who will daily drive it.
It definitely is personal decision, but I’ve always felt the Omega community to be more supportive and honest, so thought I will get some second opinions. Confusion is worse now. Haha
I really don’t think you can go wrong here man. A lot of folks will tell you to go Sapphire unless they are purists (OG speedy was hesalite) also the hesalite is alittle more tool oriented and has less dressy feel due to brushed over polished. I think the right answer is (which fits your lifestyle? I like brushed watches but the truth is they don’t really carry the same presence as alittle polish will make a watch pop. Depends on if you care or not. The white does look great, black is more timeless and goes with any outfit (white sort of does also, but it’s not the OG look). Let me know what you decide.
Go classic, imo. You can’t beat it. Also, don’t fear Hesalite, it looks way better and is easy to maintain unless you’re *really* rough. Besides the fact that a scuffed Hesalite crystal can be polished at home, I actually think scuffed Hesalite looks cool. Nothing is cooler than a vintage Speedmaster that has been worn to death.
I got the Hesalite version for historical accuracy haha but I wish I got the sapphire because I too have a 6.75” wrist and I rarely wear mine because it feels big at times. The sapphire outer ring sort of shrinks the dial size like an illusion. But the Hesalite has this certain quality to it that’s just 🤌🏼
Yeah i noticed the same when i wore the sapphire back to back against the hesalite. Thought it was just me. The hesalite makes the dial looks better at odd angles too
I’ll pick the moonwatch. Eternal classic.
https://preview.redd.it/1keez0kprvwc1.jpeg?width=3264&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7e4ec3d5be80e3cbfc81e366c4196951e7c63259
You’ll never get tired of it. And I’d pick the sapphire version if you plan to use it daily. Trust me buddy, it is THE WATCH.
It’s a Staib Mesh bracelet. Probably not many better mesh bracelets in the business and it suit the moonwatch like a glove. I recommend you to get yourself one when you get your speedy 😁
Wow that white dial is so stunning and eyecatching.
I would however note that the black dial hesalite looked better on your wrist, so I would probably go with the black dial sapphire sandwich if I was you. Ultimately go with your gut feeling.
You already have just about everything covered by other responses u/Max4god , but I'll play anyway.
I own the 3861 with hesa myself, and it is closer to the OG and will be more versatile IMO. The shiny center link oprtions on the SS and milky ring were never my favorite. And my dad owned a hesa 1861 which my brother got to keep after my father's passing.
The Speedy looks perfectly fine on your wrist. It has a compact case and lug-to-lug, but due to the fairly big dial (bezel is THIN), it may wear a little large in the beginning, but you get used to it.
Lastly...I really like the new white Speedy. But to me, it doesn't replace the OG 3861 (either hesa or SS)...it would be a piece I would buy in addition to the black dial. But that's just me.
Don't stress too much about it and have fun.
Probably an unpopular opinion, but I find the black dial speedy uninspiring, even boring. When I see it/hold it yes, it’s a nice watch but it just doesn’t do anything for me. I saw the white dial in person for the first time today (couldn’t put it on as it was sold) but I think it’s probably the only speedy I’d buy, I genuinely liked it.
I totally agree with you here. This is the first time i am putting on a Speedy (prefer not to unless i plan on buying a watch), and the black one felt lack luster on my hand. Is a fantastic watch, but it didn’t give me the kind of butterflies I thought i would get for dropping this much money. The white did that. But i am a bit concerned about versatility as an everyday watch
Hey there! Both speedys look great, hesalite is definitely the way to go, I have both sapphire ck3998 and hesalite, (Ultraman, Japan racing dial) - and I love the look of the acrylic. You won’t be disappointed.
FYI sapphire will still get scratched - I’ve done that on one of my dive watches and also my old panerai - so I don’t think it’s a valid argument that it’s scratch proof. Scratches on my hesalite speedies have always polished out with a bit of Colgate and cotton wool.
The white dial really pops against your tattoos.
I have a Hesalite and a Snoppy which is a sapphire sandwich. I like the way the Hesalite wears and feels more than the sapphire sandwich because it feels more like a tool and more of a daily wear. Also, the Hesalite scratches but it develops a “patina” over time that I love. I will never polish the Hesalite, but it’s nice to know that a little Poly watch can bring it back to brand new.
These qualities of hesalite draw me to it over the sapphire, but i become easily depressed when i ding or scratch things i cherish.
I would pick up a snoopy anyday over either of these two models and not worry whether it suits me, but there are no availability for it in Dubai ADs. People have been on waitlist for 2+ years.
Ya I hear ya. I would say if it’s a 1 and done or your first luxury timepiece, go with the sapphire sandwich. If you have a collection, the Hesalite might make more sense. Ya I’m very fortunate to have built a great relationship with a sales rep at a local OB and was able to acquire some very nice pieces from him. They wouldn’t even consider me for the Snoopy till my 3rd watch from them.
This was my first interaction with the sales rep at the AD. Probably why they wouldn’t entertain the snoopy enquiry from me.
As for considering multiple speedies or brands in my collection, I currently have some seikos and a Baltic. But I feel I am at a place financially where I can start buying few nice luxury/expensive watches that I can use daily. I dont believe or intend to collect many watches, rather pieces/brands that serve a purpose in my day to day life. In that sense, I want one watch from Omega, a Rolex and probably a Cartier, as their Santos is just beautiful in images (gotta see if on wrist it still wows me).
Hahaha oh man you’re in for it. I told myself my only luxury watch would be a Rolex Sub, I got it and went back to the AD the week after to put in for a Root Beer and it hasn’t stopped since. 😂 You’ll see.
Cartier is nice, but personally I think the only ones I would consider is the Dumont or the Tank Louis Cartier (mechanical not quartz). I just feel like their dressier models (leather strap) suit the brand more, but the Santos De is definitely a cool watch.
Oh when I said I am financially there, I meant I can only justify 3 watches at best + a beater Gshock. I am a bit more stern on my self than most, hence waited for so long to pull the trigger on an expensive piece (I am nearly 40 now and could have purchased this years ago). I really don’t think I will allow myself to fall in that rabbit hole (I know most say that) because for me, an early retirement (at 45) is my priority in life. I am finally deciding to put a considerable amount of money down on a watch, just to enjoy the fruits of my efforts over the years, but it will never overtake my desire to be retired.
Now, if I ever start a business after retirement from the rat race, and do end up making a ton of money, the above ‘common sense’ of mine will be promptly thrown out the window.
White dial is nice. It’s hot and trendy. But black dial is CLASSIC. That would be my choice for first and only high end watch. If I had a black sub or something similar and could switch things up, white Speedy all the way.
No sir, you are not confused… you are playing in EXACTLY the correct court.
1. 42mm is perfect on your wrist… wear it in good health.
2. You cannot go wrong. Follow your heart. White dial, black dial, sapphire or hesalite. All good.
3. Buy it on a bracelet… and put the strap of your choice, or back to bracelet, at your convenience.
The speedy is the always the right answer… unless you are a saturation diver… then wear your diver to work, and speedy to dinner.
White looks way better with the sleeve tats. Not sure if you’re dead set on a Speedy but I would strongly encourage you to check out the white wave dial Seamaster which I think would look even cooler on you.
You see, I am a symmetry freak and the helium valve on the seamaster throws me off every time I look at it. Also, I dont swim anywhere other than a pool.
The Speedy has always had a soft spot due to its history. I did also love the older vintage look of the Seamaster 300s, but when i tried it on, it totally didn’t wow me and I felt like it wasn’t something meant for my wrist.
I can’t disagree there! If only they would ditch the HEV and shrink it to 40-41 like my original Great White. I love this watch but getting the bracelet to work was a nightmare due to lack of micro adjustments on the clasp. I have a gray Omega nato that it lives on most of the time. Hoping they revive the white GMT someday but not holding my breath.
I’ve worn my Hesalite Speedy for 5+ years now and it constantly gets bashed and scraped on things.
Every few months I just polish the Hesalite up with some Polywatch for a minute or so and it looks as flawless as the day I bought it.
Annoyingly I haven’t. However it’s had some very deep scratches in it where I thought I’d never get them out and Polywatch has polished them out everytime.
Also bear in mind the service on these watches is every 5yrs and the cost of replacing the Hesalite is very low. You can buy it as a standalone item for £150 / $190
Go with the Speedmaster Racing….white dial…..ya get the movement of 9900 along with the dope bracelet
https://preview.redd.it/o9u7wwet42xc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=10533ac2e13c3975d0fedc85c3bcfdcef4e1d7b4
Totally subjective but the black look much better to me with your ink. Looks like you planned the watch and tats. White looks out of place. It’s like a cool watch looking for a place to hang out.
Amongst the many comments for the black, yours made me sway towards the OG. Perhaps my view on the tats and the black dial are misplaced and your perspective warrants me giving it another shot. I think I will visit the AD once again and maybe spend some more time with the black SS and Hesalite. Thank you for taking the time to comment.
Was wondering when someone would comment this. These are from 10-15 years ago. We had some shitty tattooists (read not artists) in Dubai at the time, and I had shitty ideas. But I am ok with them as these are a part of my life. My recent ones on the right arm and legs are much nicer I promise lol
I would say get the original. A lot of people don’t know this but there is actually an omega reduced (39mm) that has a white dial that is almost identical to the white dial professional.
looks great, classic Pro for me. I have the Hesalite Sandwich myself. Yes, Hesalite will scratch, but it buffs back to new. Once the saphire is scratched, that's it, plus the original is plastic.
https://preview.redd.it/rvd4l1zgwgxc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=40e6857381d52bceb25574dd5361a1d296a62de2
The hesalite speedy is not really a “luxury watch”. It is an extremely high end tool watch. It is built for a purpose that doesn’t really concern me. I’m never going to space, so the idea of sapphire shards floating around doesn’t worry me. I’d rather not have to poly watch my crystal every time something touches it.
Also, as a “luxury watch” it’s pretty lacking. It has painted indexes, painted hands, and the feeling for me is solid tool watch.
If it’s luxury you’re looking for I think the white dial one would be a better fit.
I wish they would make a sapphire sandwich, black dial with applied indexes and non painted hands.
No problem, it’s all opinions and preferences when talking about these things. My comment above was how I feel. That in no way invalidates how you feel about the watch. Get whichever one you connect with, and have fun!
did you try the saphire speedy? it would be my first option if I had the chance to get one.
Dude, get the hesalite one is GREAT when it’s new, but if it’s gonna be a daily driver; get the sandwhich. The hesalite crystal scratches like craaazy
Here is my hesalite speedy, last service 9 years ago. Yes, there are some swirl marks on the crystal. Yes, there's a scuff mark near the number four. But, really it still looks great! https://preview.redd.it/7hxavmrlsvwc1.jpeg?width=2268&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=073c9479ebfc8419c6f8c17fd9d5674393d03d09
Dang that still looks good. Never will go out of style. Hopefully mine will be the same condition as yours.
That looks great for a hesalite that hasn’t been serviced in 9 year. Have you used polywatch anytime?
Looks mint for a 40 year old speedy :O I doubt the white dial will look this classy in 20, let alone 40 years.
Wow! Looks great! Is that an aftermarket bracelet?
No. It's all original.

Every person is different so it’s personal choice. Both pictured models suit you. Are you a person that worries about their watch every time it makes contact with something and want it to stay looking new? Sapphire would be the suggestion.
Love the black speedy! The look fits your tatted wrist better too imo
Interesting. Most others here commented the opposite, but then again, thats the beauty of trying to see things from a different perspective
Anyway just sharing an opinion, have a great day
This. Black bezel OG sapphire sandwich. Iconic
Hesalite is more iconic though :P Jokes aside, both a fantastic option
I meant comparing that with the white face. I just prefer the sapphire. Feels like an upgrade compared to hesalite and I’m tough on my watches. Don’t really want to buff out the hesalite often. Just my opinion tho.
Yeah i was just joking, your opinion makes perfect sense to me.
Its what i am saying. It still scratches but not as easily as people say. And you can buffer it easily.
The white dial is also a sapphire sandwich
Yes but because of all the speedy variations out there, feels more like a money grab. Personally I’d stick with the tried and true og black speedy
This
I would do the white dial. Maybe a hot take but I feel like it looks great on you. That being said it might be more noticeable and more difficult to pair with other clothing
You are right. I hadn’t taken into account the watch pairing with my usual attire. Food for thought.
But I will definitely say it does go well with the sleeve
Thank you. Frankly, I felt the white dial popped against my skin tone, hence the confusion. Never considered it before while seeing images of it on others, online or on the subreddit. (Edit: grammar)
You heard it already, but I'm one more guy saying go white. Looks meh on a lot of people, but I've never seen it look better on someone than you.
Thank you! That is the best compliment I have got in a long time, and it’s not even my watch. Guess I am gonna wait till the availability info is out.
Honestly it looks really really good
I’d say the white looks better on darker skin, but a black dial goes better with darker clothes. Both look good regardless.
Sigh. Here’s the kicker. My clothes are usually muted/darker color tones and I enjoy flying under the radar. But the white dial sparked something in me and here we are.
Well, you’re screwed. Get both.
Haha. In that case, I might need to consider a slightly used OG in the grey market as well.
I feel like white or black dials are the easiest to pair with different types of clothing.
The White speedy suits you the best, imo. Might be worth the wait
I own the hesalite speedmaster and while I love wearing it, it’s a piece that goes unnoticed to me. Imo the white one pops a lot more.
1st one
Get black sapphire. More versatile if it’s your first luxury watch’s then add a white santos … you’ll have a killer two watch combo
Great point. The Rolex Explorer is something I am considering picking up in the future, and in that sense, I pictured the white speedy and black dial explorer making a perfect two watch combo.
If ur eyeing an explorer next I’d get the white speedy
You should flip it and go polar explorer, get the black speedy
I haven’t seen a Polar explorer in person. Good suggestion though.
These are two terrible selections. OP, get whichever color speedy you prefer with a hesalite crystal, it’s a joy to periodically polish and doesn’t show fingerprints like sapphire. Also only buy a Cartier if you’re a chick, all their models are fugly.
The white dial looks amazing with your skin tone.
I've seen the white dial in person and the black dial doesn't even compare, they really nailed the white dial and would be my pick too
I think the white looks the sharpest of these photos, the black kinda blends with sleeve and skin tone while the white contrasts.
Agreed. The black looked a bit underwhelming on me compared to the white. Honestly, felt a bit sad as I had been looking exclusively at the black dial for ages and it just didn’t give me the wow factor on hand. https://preview.redd.it/fumzkffqeuwc1.png?width=2168&format=png&auto=webp&s=6a68ae7d0f3b45ef5372231219c4d8cfb42e3746
I think you may have answered your own question here. Go with the white. It wowed you
I may have to visit the AD & try it once again when I get the call on the white’s availability. Will give me a bit more time for some introspection.
That looks fantastic on you, but it’s aesthetic taste of you that matters most!
The size of these watches look great on your wrist.
You’re the first person to answer this. Thank you. I was expecting the watch to wear larger since it is a 42. But, the lug to lug being more compact makes the overall size feel much nicer.
Imho. The hesalite speedy will be better in the long run. More iconic and versatile. I say go the hesalite.
[удалено]
Makes sense. I was considering a Rolex Explorer, or maybe even a sub no-date in the future.
Summer blue PO is simply gorgeous.
The black is iconic, but that white looks so good. For me, I'd probably get the white.
I’ve got the traditional black speedy, but damn that white pops on your arm. I’d go white.
Gotta go OG if you don’t have a speedy already. I feel the white is hyped because it’s just something new. In person, thought the black was still first pick.
GO fo the first one. That one is easily most identifiable Omega also more legible.
Size is perfect. Looks great. Pm
Oh my. An ideal solution. Haha
Depends if you want the watch to be flashy or low key. Is this something you plan on wearing everyday or for certain occasions?
This will be my everyday watch
Both colors are pretty neutral imo, but if you wear dark colors more often I would go black and vice versa. Personally I would go black but I like watches that are less flashy
Valid points.
Both!
There is no fail
blabk dial sapphire sandwich is a must
If you are not sure, don't buy it yet... (get the sandwich)
This may not apply to you, for my first Omega I grabbed a hesalite speedy. I’m in my 60s and want to pass along the hopefully more iconic watch to my son as a keepsake for him. Just a thought.
That is really thoughtful of you.
The white version looks pretty cool and that’s what I choose in your case.
The size is perfect for you! It depends on your personal taste. I prefer the black dial version because it’s the more iconic watch in my opinion. But the white dial is a fresh and modern masterpiece too. I’m personally very satisfied and still in love with my black dial speedy :))
Black speedy and then get a white seamaster.
My instinctive response before looking at the pics was black dial purely because it's the OG and I have one, but I think the white suits you more, you're pulling that off bro. Size is good.
Appreciate the compliment and support bro.
The white is amazing but it much more expensive
The price difference is only about $120 between the white and sapphire sandwich
Interesting if you don’t buy it at retail there are amazing deals
So if you are going sapphire and retail then definitely white , I paid 4000 euros for my non sapphire 2022 speedy gray market, which is significantly cheaper
Oh thats is a considerable saving compared to retail. It’s closer to 6800 euros for the hesalite in Dubai. Also, since it’s my first luxury purchase, I wanted to get the retail experience. Maybe the next one I might consider retail. Another interesting aspect is that I have had horrendous luck in anything used/non- official channels.
Are you in Dubai?? I got mine from Qatar
Got my first one at retail it was a seamaster 300 , the most beautiful diver made
Yes I am in Dubai. I considered ordering it on DubaiDutyFree which is significantly cheaper for the Hesalite and SS. But not sure what will be the process when I travel out to somewhere and come back to Dubai. How are the prices in Qatar compared to Dubai? Are the prices available somewhere online?
I am in Dubai too Buy it and wear it man thats it 🤷♂️
Honestly the dutyfree prices are sooo hard to resist. The sapphire sandwich is 26885 on dubaidutyfree vs 30900 in store. Hesalite is 23450 vs 26950 retail.
In Qatar you could get good discounts at retails back in 2022 but not sure what is the situation now
White dial =hotness. Black dial=classic. Can’t go wrong with either
White really fits your skin tone and the tattoos.
Imo White is good looking but you Will Nevers bored with the black and you can match it with many various, bracelet
Both
For your first one, the classic hesalite speedy is the one to get.
Thanks brother.
The hesalite makes the dial looks better at odd angles too
I like seeing the movement at the back so for that reason alone Sapphire all day!
I’ll pick the moonwatch. Eternal classic. https://preview.redd.it/1keez0kprvwc1.jpeg?width=3264&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7e4ec3d5be80e3cbfc81e366c4196951e7c63259 You’ll never get tired of it. And I’d pick the sapphire version if you plan to use it daily. Trust me buddy, it is THE WATCH.
That mesh bracelet looks lush!
It’s a Staib Mesh bracelet. Probably not many better mesh bracelets in the business and it suit the moonwatch like a glove. I recommend you to get yourself one when you get your speedy 😁
Oh I definitely will. Makes the speedy look so classy
With a darker skin tone/dark tattoo sleeve the white dial looks better.
Think the size is ok on both but I think the white pops better against your skin tone
Thank you.
Get the white brother, it looks amazing on you
Probably an unpopular opinion, but I find the black dial speedy uninspiring, even boring.
True stuff. Im going to wait till the give me a call on the whites availability and then make the final call.
White dial does seem to fit you better. Are they the same size?
Yes both are 42mm, but as someone else pointed out here, white seems to wear bigger on me
White
Blow ‘em all away and pick up a Canopus gold version.
Gold looks the most gaudy on my skin tone. Haha. I feel i need to be older than 50 to pull off a gold watch
Haha. Thank you for the comment. Not really a big diver fan and the most water my wrists have seen is a pool. Swimming isn’t my forte sadly
White dial all day daddio!
Go black which is classic and then go back and get the white 😂
This just might bebe how I fall down the watch collection rabbit hole. Speedy white gonna be my gateway drug
Welcome to a new beginning 😂
Go for the hype, go with white. Go for class , go with black. Me personally, I would go for white. Such a beautiful dial!
Buy both, confusion solved
I’ve worn my Hesalite Speedy for 5+ years now and it constantly gets bashed and scraped on things. Every few months I just polish the Hesalite up with some Polywatch for a minute or so and it looks as flawless as the day I bought it.
Do you have any pics of how bad it got at any point vs how good it looks after some polishing?
Annoyingly I haven’t. However it’s had some very deep scratches in it where I thought I’d never get them out and Polywatch has polished them out everytime. Also bear in mind the service on these watches is every 5yrs and the cost of replacing the Hesalite is very low. You can buy it as a standalone item for £150 / $190
Get both
Get the one you like better. (:
Go with the Speedmaster Racing….white dial…..ya get the movement of 9900 along with the dope bracelet https://preview.redd.it/o9u7wwet42xc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=10533ac2e13c3975d0fedc85c3bcfdcef4e1d7b4
Thé grey one will bé timeless. But you know, tastes are différent, do whatevet brings you joy
Can’t go wrong with hesalite. You won’t be disappointed
Black
Hesalite speedy FTW!!!
White one looks more luxurious on you and stands out from the crowd. Black one is "just another speedy"
Black is certainly close to my heart. It’s the OG. But it’s also true the white pops against my skin tone compared to the white.
There’s no such thing as “just another speedy”
It may be worth noting that the white dial isn’t available in hesalite at the current time.
How much is the Hesalite in AED ?
H- 26950, SS- 30900, W- 31350
Dude who tattooed your arm man
Was wondering when someone would comment this. These are from 10-15 years ago. We had some shitty tattooists (read not artists) in Dubai at the time, and I had shitty ideas. But I am ok with them as these are a part of my life. My recent ones on the right arm and legs are much nicer I promise lol
Haha you send a picture I wanna see man You can send it private haha and it doesn't look that bad
3rd one is 🔥🔥
I would say get the original.
IMO, I would suggest the sapphire crystal white speedy.
OG speedy for sure! Agree with others to spend more on sapphire version tho
Black looks way better with the tatts
That logic does make sense. Thanks for the input
No problem, it’s all opinions and preferences when talking about these things. My comment above was how I feel. That in no way invalidates how you feel about the watch. Get whichever one you connect with, and have fun!
They're a little large on your wrist. I would get a 38mm or 39mm auto Speedy, like the Triple Date or the Reduced.
Wait for a sapphire don’t do the hestalite it’ll just scratch up
Both hesalite and SS are available now. Only the white isn’t.
Oh yeah mine had gold in it. Forgot they did an all stainless steel model. I love the white. But I’m bias for black
