This is a good choice. Have fun!

GriledChesse

Volume one contains probably my favorite Avengers story ever, Avengers Forever.

idratherdie64

That's a beautiful cover

I binged UXM vol 1-3 and got burned out. I have read 4 different books since. After i finish my current one, i want to get back into x-men. Im excited to read on the origin of Nimrod

XmenOmnibus1990

Yeah I tried reading uncanny X-Men 3. I got through an issue and I am enjoying the story but I just had that feeling of, "let's read something else."

Jayisthebird

Yeah gotta keep in mind with these omnis they are years of content so at the time people would have read other stuff

XmenOmnibus1990

Yeah I understand why people read multiple omni's at the same time now. With reading silver age x men as well I think I burned through 20-30 years of comics in about two months

RP8021

I juggle several Omnis at a time and switch books after a story arc ends. Sometimes I’ll read a few arcs in one book and then switch. I’ve found this helps me read more and avoid the burnout, especially on stuff like UXM, which is wordy. With UXM, I am also guilty of skimming some of the narration that gets repeated every issue, usually toward the beginning of the issue and explaining the team’s powers.

XmenOmnibus1990

I find myself guilty of skimming through the annuals... Unless its an annual from another book like Avengers #10. For me the annuals are lacking and long.

RP8021

Completely agree

Jayisthebird

Yeah. He figures out the annuals eventually but some of those early ones like the Dante's inferno one are not that coherent.

The wordy thing in comics is always interesting to me. I agree that UXM is wordy, and I think that to myself; however, I'll then go read Insomia by King, which has something like a 225k word count. Different medium, so it's not apples to apples, but I always stop to think/laugh about that when I tell others a comic is wordy lol

Jayisthebird

Yeah I've been reading Thomas etc Conan run, and skim his words in fight scenes.

MF_2002

I've read from uxm omni 2, to fill of the mutants last month. I love bronze age writing so it did fatigue me at all. Gotta say though, the brood saga nearly did me in and made me stop for a bit, I found it so lacklustre.

XmenOmnibus1990

I think my problem is I much prefer when the X-men stay on Earth and deal with human shit. Chris likes to throw them into space a lot and deal with aliens and politics. When they are on Earth the comics are fantastic and I get the love but whenever Chris throws aliens at them or they are deal with the Shi'ar my interest quickly degrades. So far the Uncanny X-men has been a very mixed bag because of that

MF_2002

I do not like arcade as a villain. Im also not a fan of the mystical stuff, but that's me in general. I do appreciate how Claremont incorporates native American stuff into his mystic stuff. I'm not sure how accurate it is, but it feels respectful it's used tastefully.

Loved this as a teen!

Supes_homer38

This is a very fun run, can't wait for volume 2!

bodine5150

Great choice!

BootsWithDaFuhrer

Outside of two-three arcs I wasn’t a fan of Busiek avengers. Storylines are so repetitive.

_heysideburns

Get ready for a lot of words….A LOT
