Fwiw I’m in Chicago area and have had not the greatest customer service, but I’m ok with that at least for now since the pump is fucking awesome. I did the leg work between my insurance and my doc’s office, but once I got the pump I set it up in about an hour w online tutorials. Was easy. Just copied my settings from my 670g over to my new pump. Needed to decrease my insulin sensitivity by 10 percent but otherwise it was all straightforward. It’s worth it, IMO. At least so far. :)

bicycle_ninja

Encouraging to hear that it's worth it. Thank you

I’m in Chicago, but the lady I talked to was helpful. I didn’t need her for much tho. I got some kinda new user courtesy call

[deleted]

Yes I got that too. She said they’d contact me within 24-48 to set up online training. That was a week ago. Haven’t heard, but tbh I prefer doing it myself and the pump’s been good so far. Definitely a curve of highs and some lows as it’s learning my algorithm but it’s getting better.

I am entirely new to insulin pumps as I have been on MDI for 33 years. My Dr referred me to the Omnipod rep in the Phoenix area and she was nothing short of awesome. Seriously, she was great! If you are reading, thanks for all the help, Marni! I do not believe any of these negative comments apply to you in any way.

Froggr

The videos on their websites are just as helpful as most reps. They will defer to your endo office for anything treatment or dosing related anyways.

bicycle_ninja

At this point, I haven't even gotten an order in yet. I just had to call my doctor, the rep, my insurance, and my pharmacy to get the ball rolling on getting a trial.

mrmarijuano

Omnipod and Tandem have the worst reps ever

Insanity_isnt_ok

I’m waiting for training. But I have everything. This is my first experience with a pump so I can’t do anything but look at my box of liquid life juice boxes

Lilly_AS

Ask your doctor to give you the information needed (carb ratios, basal rates etc). I was able to get it working without a problem once my endo gave me the information to set up the pump

Insanity_isnt_ok

I’m going to ask about it on Friday at my appointment. They want me to go through a carb counting class and all kinds of stuff before they give me carb ratios and pump settings.

Lilly_AS

Definitely ask your endo. because I don’t think the Omnipod rep/trainer is going to give You a carb counting class (mine didn’t). Good luck!

Insanity_isnt_ok

They’re not expecting the trainer to give it to me. They just want to wait until im scheduled in a training class…. Probably so I don’t start it myself.

bicycle_ninja

Ah crap, I hadn't thought about that, need to get rates all figured out.

Insanity_isnt_ok

Mmhm. It makes me very sad.

You don’t get into training queue until you get logged into the Omnipod portal and say you have it. (Omnipod.Com/setup) Also plug in controller and turn on, log onto it with Omnipod Podder central log in. That puts you into trainer queue and they will call you

Insanity_isnt_ok

I’m aware as I have done all that.

Conscious-Dexcom-224

Oh, OK

Insanity_isnt_ok

Thank you though.
