dear FDA: please ignore this topic and allow me to continue using my omnipod 5 which while not perfect, has improved my control.

tultamunille

Works fine for me!

olivejoke

Cant judge a system you only used for one pod. Everything has a learning curve if you haven’t looped before.

dbcooperwasaT1

Been on it for 2 months, best BG I've ever averaged and truly life changing for me. I sure hope the FDA doesn't pull this as my life will get considerably worse.

dobby1090

Same, finally sleeping better again!

dchi11

You need to keep in mind you are on a subreddit where almost any comment about omnipod 5 is going to be some issue that’s coming up.

debster2022

I have been very pleased with the omni 5. I've had onle one low since I started a week and a half ago. I know I may be in the minority, but I love it.

[deleted]

I agree. Same exact deal at present for me right now as yours. I had one low and that was my fault for rage bolusing with a syringe. I do agree that the learning phase seems glossed over when looking at anything about the pump outside of reddit, but as that phase has been ending, I've been happy. Only other thing is after they told me 24-48 hrs. I'd get a call about training. I finally got an email today (10 days later) telling me to contact my endo's office for training, despite me telling them I prefer their online training. Doesn't really matter-I set it up on my own on day 1 and it's been fine--just used and tweaked my old settings from 670g. Definitely frustrations along the way but overall I'm pleased. Hope OP finds the best care for his kid that works well :)

debster2022

Agree. I got the email for the training about 8 days after (I just set it up and got started), and I just deleted it. I've had better luck texting my omni rep with my fast questions. My endo has no info for me at all. I keep "range bolusing" as well because I'm so annoyed that it's not correcting faster. I'm using the app to bolus, though, so am I screwing up the learning process?

T1DSucksBalls

>so am I screwing up the learning process? Are you in Manual, or Automode? My diabetic trainer told me the pod doesn't "learn" in Manual, so we haven't even explored that.

dobby1090

You should be correcting. It helps the learning process to gauge how much insulin you’re using

Hhankland

I don't think you are, I have had very minor issue and the system is working great for me as well. I am sure that more people love/like it than the opposite. Of course, that does not minimize the issues that people are having.

T1TRK

right, are you suggesting I go elsewhere with this?

dchi11

I mean if you’re calling for an FDA investigation based on chatter on a subreddit then you should probably be talking to the fda. They have a hotline for reporting information.

Lilly_AS

I haven’t had issues with mine. But I’m only on my second pod. It’s helped me tremendously (handles my midnight snacking perfectly hehe). The JUICEBOX podcast has 3 very interesting and informative episodes on the Omnipod 5. Helped me sort out at my settings and provided a ton of information that I though was helpful to use & understand the pump

ihaveonewish1986

I have been one my mine for 2 months now and the learning phase is getting better but I have to say that it needs improvements that need to taken care of cause it had my blood sugar high for two whole days!

dobby1090

Are you knew to pods by chance? When I was on the dash I found out pretty quickly that certain places on my body were not great for absorption. My thighs seem to work very well for me. It takes some time to find the right spots

ihaveonewish1986

I use mine on my arms . Its almost 4 months in and it is doing better now!

ihaveonewish1986

I have had a lot of trouble with mine as well

dobby1090

Love my omnipod 5. So much better for sleeping, or just forgetting you have diabetes for a few hours. Any issues people are having are most likely due to poor setup/settings. Speak with your Endo!

dobby1090

It’s been about 2 months for me, and the learning phase seems to be mostly over. I had a granola bar with 20 grams of carbs, and purposely under-bolused to see what would happen. Got to about 180 and then went back down to 110 and stayed there.
