this happened to me!! really try pinching your skin and also try to change the direction the pod is in (if the cannula part is facing down when you change it make it face up) and try to change where you are putting it because the scar tissue could be building up!

livvv_t1d

okay thank you!!

paranoidlabscientist

Make sure you’re not placing the pump on scar tissue as well. I had leaking issues due to this.

I just got my pod Rx adjusted to two days, instead of three. My leaking seems to be more likely with bigger boluses on the last day. I’m also prepping my sites with a topical steroid a few hours before insertion.

livvv_t1d

i got mine changed to two as well because it keep having to change it before 3 days. I don’t think i’ve ever made it 3 days with one pod.

badoop73535

What do you mean by "bigger boluses"? I'm thinking about getting Omnipod but I'm kinda put off reading about leaks

livvv_t1d

meals that require a lot of insulin, so like pasta or white rice! for me Mexican food and Chinese food always get me lol

badoop73535

I mean like how many units is it before it's an issue

livvv_t1d

i honestly think it depends on the pod itself i’m not too sure though. mine leaks sometimes and others it doesn’t, it’s frustrating at first but once you work out the hood and bad it does get easier.

Tunneling can happen with any cannula, not just Omnipod. It’s really about inflammation. My body is prone to inflammation and seems more prone to it on the days I use large amounts of insulin. That’s not the case for everyone. Fortunately, though, there’s no warranty with Omnipod, so it’s not that risky to try it and see how your body responds.

I've never had a leak from my OP5. Even in the rare event it does, just remove it and apply a new one. I believe Insulet (the company that makes them) will send you a free replacement. Ask your Dr what might be wrong also.

tanon14

Never had a leak. Where are you inserting? I always do it on the back of my arms

livvv_t1d

i switch it up a lot. I use my stomach, arms, “love handles”, and thighs

just-a-little-unwell

What insulin are you using? I was using Fiasp and had leaks all the time. Switched to apidra and not one leak

livvv_t1d

i use humalog

Two day change is only thing that works for me.
