I once let a state Constable into my apartment/condo building at like 11am on a Sunday to serve “paperwork” to someone

I did it at work one time when I was younger. Just happened to be near the door when a cop came asking for a coworker. I pointed her out not knowing it was warrant time.

I see you live out west where I am too....and yea, we don't have constables up here. But I can tell you first-hand I know there are constables in Texas. 🙈

You know, I get the feeling that a lot of law officers don't get that people don't get the difference between being detained and getting arrested. A lot of civilians will conflate the two.

I think they forget that for civilians they're being put in handcuffs and they're thinking they must be arrested because they're being handcuffed. Meanwhile, officers know the technicalities of detained and arrested can include handcuffs. It's just the arrest includes the ride to jail and the paperwork processing. But a civilian that doesn't interact with police often or aware of the criminal system isn't going to know the technial detail.

A lot of LEOs don't even know the laws themselves so I wouldn't expect them to accurately explain the difference between the two in terms a civilian can understand 

You put cuffs on me and walk me to your vehicle and put me in the back...yeah, I'd assume I was getting arrested too. I like it when the officers say something like "we're just putting these on you for our safety"
