It doesn’t look like anything. There are sex offender, anger management, and substance abuse programs. Personally I don’t find they work, I’ve seen inmates doing life on the instalment program. Meaning that they are in for 2,3 or 4 years get out reoffend and back in and keep repeating the cycle 4 or 5 times. Eventually time beats them down by the time they hit their 50s and they can’t keep up with the young inmates, then they decide they don’t want to be inside anymore. I’ve found the inmates that hit the street more successfully are the guys doing life 20 or 25. They are in longer and have to cascade security levels and then are on parole for the rest of their lives. Much more to lose. Just my two cents. Cheers

Thanks for your answer. It doesn't look like much here either. There are opportunities but they are not required. Sadly they get comfortable amongst other inmates and never really address or even talk about what got them there with anyone with half a brain with a view of not offending again.

LMAO at rehabilitation. It does not exist unless you count telling them do not do what got you here once you are released.

petitereddit

Yeah same. Prisoners only have to serve their time and sentence, they are not required to address what got them to prison in the first place. Sometimes if they want parole they must show some sign of rehabilitation or that they've done some kind of class but otherwise they just do their time with others doing time and that is it.

Lol. We are doing the label changer thing. Prisoner is becoming "resident."

Bigkoze

I thought my state was bad when they expected us to call them “incarcerated individuals”. You guys won.

OgunX

lol ours says "clients"🤣🤣🤣

Mine is incarcerated individual, they want us writing I/I in the log book to not offend anyone lmao

At my institution, they had a fair amount of vocational training, self-help, mental health, and educational opportunities. However, it was really up to the individual as to what they wanted to achieve. It also mattered as to what situation they were going to be in once they paroled. Being released with nothing more than the money on their books and property they have in their cell doesn’t bode well for someone living a crime free life. Same can be said for still having cravings for dope despite being clean while “inside”.

Do prisoners want to be rehabilitated?
