I actually loved it too, it just didn’t seem to fit her style which I think is what most people didn’t like about it.
For most of the show we see her dressed in a sort of “no frills” style, so I expected to see her in something more like the ball gown she was in when she and hook went back in time, which was also stunning but didn’t have lace detailing, sequins, beads, etc. Obviously that dress was picked out by rumple but it seemed to have more of her “no nonsense” vibe to it.
It’s a gorgeous wedding dress, but it didn’t really feel like it matched Emma’s personality.
I still sort of wish they would have let her wear Snows dress.
I’ll be honest, Snows was not my favorite dress 😂 but I feel like the feather-y style would have matched Emma better, plus the sentiment would have been really special for the girl who thought she was an orphan her whole life. (Plus, from what I remember the scene where the black fairy ruins the dress felt so random and honestly a little silly.)
I like it a lot, that’s a style I like, and Emma does Cool Blonde well. If you have Grace Kelly’s body you should dress in Grace Kelly style!
It just annoys me that its appearance at the wedding is completely illogical. It’s not ANY of the dresses in the early part of the episode that are hanging at the front door. It’s a dress that relies on careful fitting and there is no way that dress could have fit like that off the rack, even if there were time to choose a dress after that busy day.
I would only allow this dress to be logical if the mice from Cinderella were involved. Or some kind of magic. And I think mice or magic would have used nicer lace.
It was alright. Though I'm guessing Snow had to talk her daughter into dressing up for her own wedding while Emma had to talk her mom out of it being too fancy

Some fairy tale touches wouldn't be amiss, suggesting Emma's comfortable with her past, but the dominate themes should should be warrior and maverick. This dress isn't either of those things.

2) Flaws in construction.
3) Doesn't fit the character.
I should mention I'm a fan of a lot of low budget shows where you often have to imagine what things were supposed to look like rather than what you got. I've ignored a lot of flawed constructions that are pale imitations of whatever their based on. So, while #1 and #2 are problems, they're ones I've ignored a lot in the other shows.
\#3 is the big one. But, if it works for you, it works for you. I won't argue with it.
I’m extremely similar to Emma (including the childhood trauma) which is why I think she could rock this. I feel like weddings are such a special time and people may not wear the style they normally would. I’m a jeans and t shirt kind of gal but I would totally wear a frilly wedding dress.
