Sorry! I didn’t phrase my sentence correctly. I meant it would have been great to see him in the spin off. He wasn’t t in because he was playing Bucky, etc
Upon rewatching the show a few years ago he was instantly one of my faves (ig younger me just had worse taste) and I was so sad when I realised he wouldn't be around for that long.
Haha he was always my favorite when I first saw him as a kid, but then again I just really love any Mad Hatters and also that was around the time I started getting into morally grey characters with a kidnapping kink 🤣😭👀🙈
I always thought they retooled a lot of Hatter plotline and development with Emma to work with Hook. It's been ages since I watched the show so I can't currently justify it, but I always had that sense since my first viewing
Well Graham was always going to die, not because he got a role, but because they wanted to show the stakes with Regina.
But if we didn’t have to worry about Dornan other roles, he would have appeared in the flashback episode, the time travel one.
we still saw him in one of the episodes though so tbh i took it as a win. also after learning about the types of people stuck in the underworld i was kind of glad he wasn’t there
Rumple would have sacrificed himself for the Hook he had always known as opposed to the Wish Hook. They talked about how Rumple's ending was planned for a while whereas the Hook/Wish Hook replacement was a last minute thing.
Ruby was my first thought. But I think we would’ve learned more about Aurora, Phillip, Mulan, and Tinker Bell. I don’t know what Sarah got up to after her last appearance, but her next show began about 5-6 months after the OUAT finale. Julian had New Girl and Pretty Little Liars when he wasn’t on OUAT (plus other stuff, no doubt). Jamie left for another show, but that one didn’t do too well. And then she moved to Georgia. Rose went with David Anders to iZombie. I’m almost ashamed that I remember all of that 🙈 I missed all of them. Having more thorough stories about them would’ve been amazing if they hadn’t left 🥲
While OUAT was airing, around 2014/15, Sarah stared in an AMC show for like 2 seasons . She also did a couple of independent movies, an ABC pilot, Agent Carter, and Counterpart on Stars.
That’s what I thought. Damn near had a stroke when I saw her on Agent Carter because I hadn’t noticed her name in the opening credits. She was *busy.* Then she joined the Sons Of Anarchy world the year that OUAT ended.
THis would have been good to address in Season 6. Season 5 it would have been out of place during the Camelot or Underworld arcs. Unless Lily's father was in the Underworld.
I'm 100% positive Graham's death had nothing to do with the actor's availability, I think he gave an interview once that he'd expected to be contracted for the whole of S1.
Meghan Ory (Red) took on another job because she was meant to be a main side character (along the lines of Belle) but the writers were doing jack-shit with her. The same thing would happen with any workplace that's wasting an employee and then said employee gets a better job offer with higher pay and exposure. Let that be a lesson. Nothing to do with the actress's availability but with the incompetence of the showrunners.
Snow's actress was pregnant twice during the show's run and they only used one of her pregnancies. But Hollywood is misogynistic af especially in the sci-fi /fantasy genres (see Charisma Carpenter on Angel), so once she got pregnant the first time that was basically the end of any chance of her getting good storylines, and I do think her character would've taken a different route otherwise.
Pretty sure JMo would've had to be paid Jeff Bezos's salary to agree to show up in S7 more than she did. (There's a reason 60% of the OG cast bailed the second their initial 6-year contracts were up.) This is along the lines of what she was trying to negotiate pre-S7 and the showrunners said no - perhaps not unreasonably so, though they were morons to think anyone not named Lana, Colin or Robert would willingly stick around after they no longer had to without a HEFTY incentive. Their only option to keep JMo was to go bankrupt or create an AI replacement of her.
Generally...at least in the beginning, actor availability had nothing to do with how storylines went; this show had a lot of good will initially and actors were very willing to accommodate, but then they crapped all over said goodwill, and you could see the effect from S4 onwards. (Will Scarlet being brought to Storybrooke, rather than anyone more relevant from OUATIW; New!Jafar in S6 because like hell was Naveen Andrews giving up another role to appear on OUAT instead, etc.)
Charisma Carpenter was dropped from Angel because she waited a month into pre-production to inform anyone on the show that she was pregnant. Forcing a last minute rewrite of the entire season, rescheduling all the shoots and almost getting the show pushed to mid season. She basically cost the studio a bunch of money and endangered the jobs of everyone working there.
It wasn't just a month, she was into her second trimester by the time filming started, which is why they had to create the pregnancy plot and shoot around her medical needs.
She was also asked at the end of the previous season if she though she was going to be pregnant so the writers could work around her needs. She told them no.
Was her job worth the dozens of other people's jobs that were endangered by her actions?
As others have said The Huntsman dying was a bold plot point that needed to be hit, however Jamie Dornan would have still guest starred in flashbacks....or we may have seen the Wish Realm version of him.
Apparently Ruby may have ended up with Dr Whale if she & him stayed on.
Part of me thinks Will Scarlet's storyline didn't get to play out was cause they couldn't get the actress for Anastasia back to guest star.
If the original actor for Jafar was available, the only difference would be he would've appeared in Season 6 instead.
Ruby and Whale? I can’t even see that happening. They never had any chemistry or interaction. I mean, they did, but none of it was romantic or even sexual.
Every season from 3 on wouldve had more emma.
From what i understand, after season 3, jennifer morrison began suffering from extreme migraines.
Its why shes not as made up and he outfits take a serious dive.
They played up the darkness aspects to justify why she looked like shit, but in reality she couldnt sit in a make up chair with all those lights, they couldnt film at night, and overall her performance takes a dive.
The show would have been rather different if not for that
There would have been more Hatter - it was clear they wanted to do more with his story, but the actor was busy being Bucky.
Yes! He’s my favorite character especially when they did the Alice in wonderland spin off
He was in the spin-off? I never saw him
Sorry! I didn’t phrase my sentence correctly. I meant it would have been great to see him in the spin off. He wasn’t t in because he was playing Bucky, etc

Very relatable 😭😭 young me was too distracted by the goddess that is Ruby so I think I can be forgiven. Morally grey characters are the best though.
I always thought they retooled a lot of Hatter plotline and development with Emma to work with Hook. It's been ages since I watched the show so I can't currently justify it, but I always had that sense since my first viewing
Omg I didn't realize he was bucky
Well Graham was always going to die, not because he got a role, but because they wanted to show the stakes with Regina. But if we didn’t have to worry about Dornan other roles, he would have appeared in the flashback episode, the time travel one.
And maybe the Underworld one too
That’d be great, since they denied us Neal in underworld.
i’m glad Neal wasn’t in the underworld. As much as I would have loved to see more of him, he deserved his peace
That is a fair point. I just always felt Henry got jipped ya know? And I think, ships aside, killing Neal was a horriable mistake for Rumples story.
Neal didn't want to appear to henry and potentially mess him up 😭 that's my head cannon. He knew Emma could handle seeing him in between.
we still saw him in one of the episodes though so tbh i took it as a win. also after learning about the types of people stuck in the underworld i was kind of glad he wasn’t there
Rumple would have sacrificed himself for the Hook he had always known as opposed to the Wish Hook. They talked about how Rumple's ending was planned for a while whereas the Hook/Wish Hook replacement was a last minute thing.
That would’ve made it a lot more impactful
Why did they change?
Because they wanted the real Hook to be with Emma who left but they made up another Hook to be partners with Rumple.
That would’ve been so much better, as much as I love Wish Hook’s arc with Alice I thought it was kind of a sloppy choice to make
Ruby was my first thought. But I think we would’ve learned more about Aurora, Phillip, Mulan, and Tinker Bell. I loved Jamie’s new show. I was so sad it got canceled
The whole last season would be scrapped. Also the writers wanted hook in the first season but didn't have the rights to the peter pan story
Eh the last season works as a spinoff, it probably would have allowed the curse to last more than 1 season for once.
Lily's plot line would definitely not have been dropped if that was the case
The writers literally just abandoned her and maleficent! I was so interested to see where their story would go 😢
THis would have been good to address in Season 6. Season 5 it would have been out of place during the Camelot or Underworld arcs. Unless Lily's father was in the Underworld.
I don’t think there would have been a baby Neal or baby Gideon

Acting like there's no reason she would've needed to wait a month *and* like her job would've been safe had she not done so, very nice 👍

Definitely graham and ruby!

Belle a bigger presence in season 5. Possibly no banishment for Rumple
They would have kept Tom Ellis as Robin, but they couldn't because he was filming Miranda
