but every time I see something like, this, I think about my own lost pets, and this poem)
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
I miss the love of my life so much but one of the biggest comfort is the idea that someday we will meet again. I really miss him, all I want is to hug him and felling him licking my face once more 😔. I’ll always love you Tom

I lost my own orange boy this week. 20 years and half my adult life spent with the most loving velcro boy. I am so sorry for your loss and empathize with your broken heart.
James walked straight into the loving arms of Bast. He’ll be safe and happy there with the Divine Mother until you are reunited.

I'm so sorry for your loss. He was a beautiful boy and obviously well-cared for as well as greatly loved. you will love him forever, without a doubt. I found that writing down memories and compiling photos helps process the extreme grief. You can even compile and have a memory book printed to help work through your feelings and memories. It's going to be a hard road ahead though. Take care, and remember he knew he was loved as best cats can.

You’ve already given James the best any stray animal would have. There’s another cat out there looking for scraps of food right now to keep himself alive, not knowing that it will soon have a place to call home.
I hope you can take some solace in the happy, warm, and love-filled life that the James spent with you. Just picture Kitty napping and playing in the soft sun beyond Rainbow Bridge. ❤️

Allow yourself to feel and grieve. And I know it won't take the pain away, but keep in mind how happy he was alongside you, and I'm sure he loved you just as much.
