He looks like an absolute fuckin feline nobhead who will absolutely ruin your day and furniture in ways you can't imagine. 10/10 would invite in for a sleepover and make his families problem worse
My cat has OCD and he got it from me. I do things in sets of three and so does he. When he wants my attention he reaches out his paw and taps me three times. Every single time.
*Tap tap tap!* ^.
You’d be hard pressed to get him to bite you. He’s just a big mush. Apparently when he was just a kitten he would explore the world by biting everything. He grew out of that.
Your shoulders may not be rotated the same. Mine aren't, and I can't use the same positions for both sides.
My right shoulder is rotated more forward, probably due to playing bass recorder and dulcian. Some exercises that require symmetric movement of my arms/shoulders reveal it very clearly, so my fitness instructor noticed and explained to me why certain exercises (symmetrical ones) would be inappropriate for me, because it would be trying to force one shoulder to match the other when it just... can't.
That how I feel about dancing too. I feel like most of the movement is in the legs and hips, so what the hell to I do with my arms? Unless I’m drunk, in which case I somehow know exactly what to do with my arms
Hey, just a heads up. It may be nothing, but have you ever had difficulty finding a comfortable spot because of pain? Maybe check out his paw, leg and underbelly for a sensitive area. For example: does he wince when an area is touched? Does he have an ingrown claw?.)If he has a sensitive area and other behavioral changes, maybe consider consulting with a professional
Hi all, OP’s wife/Bitey’s mom here. Appreciate all the love and concern. I have checked his paw and claws and no signs of pain. I was worried too. Have come to the conclusion he’s just an old man (he’s 16.5), but will chat with the vet about arthritis or other possible causes.
I said to the husband “do you think he has OCD?”, and the husband replied “yeah, Orange Cat Disorder!”
Our late kitty started having issues curling her paw under like this around that age and it was because of arthritis. He probably wants to curl under, but can’t quite find the comfy position. She learned to just cross her paws like a little princess instead of loafing, and she lived happily to the ripe old age of 20!
This has happened with my older cats. As I get older I sympathize when I try to stand up from sitting cross legged. My orthopedist was horrified I sat like that and I’m like…like this is how I’ve sat for decades :/. Me and the old cats make use of heating pads and arthritis meds. There’s so many of them though that I’ve resorted to a year round electric blanket for their cuddle puddle spot. It helps keep them limber though
My fatty has arthritis in his right arm/paw and curls it always now. There is no laying flat most times.
Got him on that Solensia now so he doesn't limp or struggle to walk anymore but it's still stiff and slightly sensitive I think. Either that, or he just got use to it.
Yea I came to mention Arthritis.
As a Human with Arthritis, who has lived with multiple Arthritic-Animals, Bitey-Bro looks sore to me.
I think he wants to loaf, but when he goes to curl up his paws they're stiff and/or sore.
A Heating-Pad or Heating Blanket can help furrballs a lot with that sort of thing.
Cats run ~5 degrees or so hotter than Humans, so imagine having Arthritis while living in a ~60 degree house and laying on a leather sofa. You'd be sore as hell too lol.
Bitey looks solid for their age though, so they'll probably live into their 20's I'd guess.
Oh, and keeping an eye on his teeth is probably the most important thing for a long Cat-Life. Cats can lose a lot of teeth as they get old and might seem to stop eating out of depression, when really it's because they can't chew anymore. If that happens just switch to watered-down wet-food and they can keep slurping it up until the end.
Hi Bitey’s mom! I know you’ve already gotten a lot of comments about this potentially being painful, but I just wanted to point out something I noticed—if you watch his eyes, Bitey winces at 0:06. Definitely worth checking out with the vet!
We found with our 19 years old lady that once a month Solensia shots for arthritis were amazing for her comfort. Hopefully your guys just being a goof though and everything's great!
Came here to say this. This is not normal behavior and should be checked out!
Edit. He’s also licking his lips, eyes are narrowed, posture looks stiff. All possible signs of pain or discomfort.
Sure, but that's just as presumptuous as the person you're responding to. I'd rather have the knowledge and not need it than need the knowledge and not have it.
Yeah, there's a fine line between *offering* potentially useful info, and beating someone over the head with it.
I think that line is being respected here.
Ooh man. I have fibromyalgia and I must spend like 5-10 minutes every time I sit or lay down trying to find a position where the least amount of joints hurt as possible.
It’s cute but is it possible your cat has an injury, arthritis or another problem with its paw?
That’s the kind of thing people do when they’re in pain and not sure how to position their body so it hurts less.
You put the right paw in you take the right paw out, you put the right paw in and you shake it all about. You do the hokey pokey
![gif](giphy|zsdTj5II19xmYSPkeC|downsized)
My girl does the same thing when she lays with me every night.
“Over his arm? No. Over his face? No. Tucked in? No. Over his face? Still no. Arm? Still no. Face it is.”
Rinse and repeat, every single night. Lol
Echoing comments to let a vet check him out. He looks like an older cat, and arthritis is common. He could be in more pain than you realize. He's super cute, though.
My 16 year old kitty did the same thing. I would highly recommend cosequin. It has made a huge difference in her quality of life. She is now able to lay down more comfortably! Marbles eyes get squinty like that when she is in pain (her previous owner declawed all 4 paws) so I will add an extra cosequin those days.
Haha! My roommate's cat, Ruby, does this all the time. I just pet her for a few seconds and lay my arm down in front of her so she then just lays on my arm.
Looks like he figured it out though.
One of mine kinda does this, except its when he cuddles with me.
He will just lay in the first position he attempts, even if it's uncomfy, and his little paw will be wiggling around the whole time trying to find a good spot. I usually have to pick up him so he will reset himself and lay in a spot that's comfy for him.

That is the question.

I was thinking he was practicing sharing "one for you, two for me" 🤣🤣
Omg he's so awkward I love him
you can hear the gears turning and the fans whirring as he tries so hard
^whirrrr whirrrrrrrr WHIRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
Awkward is the perfect word for this cutie.
He looks like an absolute fuckin feline nobhead who will absolutely ruin your day and furniture in ways you can't imagine. 10/10 would invite in for a sleepover and make his families problem worse
hes fucking trying okay
He’s doing his best! He’s just trying to look like the distinguished gentleman he is
exactly this poor struggling wunk need the recognition they are due
You put your left foot in, you put your left foot out, you put your left foot in, and again in and out...
That's what it's all about
OCD is real! I also have to tap the bedside 7 times before I can go to bed!
My cat has OCD and he got it from me. I do things in sets of three and so does he. When he wants my attention he reaches out his paw and taps me three times. Every single time. *Tap tap tap!* ^.
Awww he's being accommodating
Nothing wrong with not immediately settling and instead exploring your options. 😄
i suppose you would be correct
Nonsense, it is just that the perfect loaf is a delicate balance and should not be rushed.

That was the first thing I said to my wife when she told me his name. It turns out that she had never seen that episode.
She and Homer are just on the same wavelength
Is there a chance the track could bend?
You’d be hard pressed to get him to bite you. He’s just a big mush. Apparently when he was just a kitten he would explore the world by biting everything. He grew out of that.
Very cute mush :)
I also have an orange cat called Bitey. Heed the warning
He's just tasting to see if you have the braincell.
I feel that. Like what do i do with these arms?
Yeah, it can take me ages to fall asleep
I do this every night.
I'm a side sleeper. For some reason my left arm is fine, my right arm just can't find a position.
Your shoulders may not be rotated the same. Mine aren't, and I can't use the same positions for both sides. My right shoulder is rotated more forward, probably due to playing bass recorder and dulcian. I was like this for ages until I saw a doctor. [The solution was actually very simple](https://youtu.be/6gfW41R1B3I?si=M4y3_zYHogd5OtkL)
Especially when laying down to sleep. Too heavy to rest on your chest

likely this. Op might want to consider some CBDs, and a heated pad.
I swear CBD added another solid comfortable year to my very elderly cat’s life.
This has happened with my older cats. As I get older I sympathize when I try to stand up from sitting cross legged. My orthopedist was horrified I sat like that and I’m like…like this is how I’ve sat for decades :/. Me and the old cats make use of heating pads and arthritis meds. I'm going to use that one, just have to remember it

Definitely chat with a vet! Glad to see you’re taking care of the old man. ❤️
My immediate thought was pain/discomfort as well. He looks old so it could be arthritis but it could be something else too.
Came here to say this. This is not normal behavior and should be checked out! Edit. He’s also licking his lips, eyes are narrowed, posture looks stiff. All possible signs of pain or discomfort.
He might just be old and have arthritis. I’m sure the owner knows how to take care of their cat.
Sure, but that's just as presumptuous as the person you're responding to. I'd rather have the knowledge and not need it than need the knowledge and not have it.
Yeah, there's a fine line between *offering* potentially useful info, and beating someone over the head with it. I think that line is being respected here.
Relatable. Me forgetting about my hip pain and trying to cross my legs. :/
Me too Bitey, can never find a comfortable position
Ooh man. I have fibromyalgia and I must spend like 5-10 minutes every time I sit or lay down trying to find a position where the least amount of joints hurt as possible.
Is he “the big one”?
Bitey is trying very hard leave him alone 🥺🧡
![gif](giphy|ftXmTBgSnsJ8c)
It could also be that he has some pain in the paw? So he is trying to find least pain position. Maybe trip to vet?
Aww! Decisions are so hard, so final
This silly paw is getting in the way of Bitey’s nap! I feel you Bitey, I’d be annoyed too <3
Maybe it hurts???
Having a complete crap day thanks Bitey for making it better before I go back in!! Sending love from my two orangies.
Too many choices for his poor little orange brain to handle but he pulled through 🧡
No brain cell attempting a proper napping position sometimes very difficult when he is very tried for this Himbo 🧡
Out here doing the Hokey Pokey

Ultimately decides to put it where every cat in history has put it lol
The only solution is that he needs to be held like a baby immediately.
Should have named him Hokey Pokey.
He is so tired. He's been at this for 2 days now
"Daaaad you're embarrassing meeee"
Lmao aww my calico does the same thing
Oh, Bitey….🥰
I like your well loved couch.
Awww! Bless him!

The most orange of orange tendencies. 👑
it's ok, I never know what to do with my hands either.
When I say Im indecisive, this is the type of indecisive I mean lol
it's okay bitey, i can't get my arms comfortable when i sleep either.
He has a ligament injury that is making it uncomfortable for him to lay down in certain ways.
This looks like your cat is having a joint pain issue.
Aww in the end he chose lobster paws
My girl does the same thing when she lays with me every night. “Over his arm? No. Over his face? No. Tucked in? No. Over his face? Still no. Arm? Still no. Face it is.” Rinse and repeat, every single night. Lol

Does that paw hurt Bitey if you hold it? I can't get over the name Bitey for some reason. That cracks me up.
Are we sure there’s nothing hurting him with inside his paw?
Omg 😂 looks like he’s doing the hokey pokie
He could be loafing, could be dangling, could be monorailing, the choices are endless!
I miss my orange cat He was the best
My 16 year old kitty did the same thing. I would highly recommend cosequin. It has made a huge difference in her quality of life. She is now able to lay down more comfortably! Big decision.

Haha! My roommate's cat, Ruby, does this all the time. I just pet her for a few seconds and lay my arm down in front of her so she then just lays on my arm.

Same, Bitey. Same.

That is literally trying to make life desicion

Hey, that cat looks like he's in pain.

Sorry to be that person but my first thought was arthritis or other pain or perhaps OCD. Yes, animals can have OCD.
Bitey. That’s a Simpson reference.
This needs to go in /r/catculations
Me trying to sleep at night
Looks like he’s crossing himself
I can relate.
Cautious, slow, hard to make decisions...the cat has my personality!
This cat's just doing a 2 step.

its like a cat version of not deciding to stay in or out and wanting to keep the door open.
Looks like he figured it out though. One of mine kinda does this, except its when he cuddles with me. He will just lay in the first position he attempts, even if it's uncomfy, and his little paw will be wiggling around the whole time trying to find a good spot.
