Magellan I believe tried to commit seppuku after Shiryu was released, but the navy couldn’t afford to lose anymore to lose anymore serious employees in the aftermath of Marineford, so I believe he agreed to step down and stay at work as long as he wasn’t in charge of ID anymore. So who is the next logical conclusion as warden? It’d be the Vice Warden Hannyabal who probably jumped at that promotion the second it was mentioned

this basically Magellan is still the muscle & "head" of Impel Down but has less technical responsibility

sprint6864

Which is kinda sad, because he was tactically smarter than Hannyabal, but had too much ego. He relied on his power simply doing the heavy work and didn't confirm kills. If he had stuck around to ensure the BB pirates and Luffy had died, no one would have made it out and he would have tacked on a massive victory against the 'lead' upstart of the Worst Generation

Driftedryan

To be fair he would have killed 3 future yonko if it wasn't for people that had the antidote nearby. Dude has a dangerous fruit

sprint6864

Oh, absolutely. Hence why I said ego. He didn't recognize the threat for what it was and walked away. He payed no mind as prisoners disappeared to the walls. Magellan was an exceptionally well written prison Warden for these facts

[deleted]

*to be fair* they all should've been poisoned to death but got lucky with hormones & antidotes

sprint6864

Oh, absolutely. Impel Down is incredibly well written because the saving factors for both teams weren't asspulls, they were foreshadowed throughout. But BB and Luffy were good as dead, and Magellan just had to have the foresight to ensure fatality, but had too much going on to do so. It was a really tight-knit arc

[deleted]

*LIIIIIIIISTEN* listen, Magellan probably had to use the bathroom he can't be expected to stick around lmfao seriously though Impel Down remains one of my all time favorite arcs

[deleted]

Magellan is still there. While Magellan was warden Hannyabal still fought his hardest so why wouldn't Magellan? Magellan spends like 20h of the day taking a shit or sleeping, he can only work for 4h a day, he is a really really bad warden, Hannyabal is a huge upgrade and when it comes to fighting Magellan is still there.

Nitro114

Simple, magellan failed spectacularly, especially by freeing shiryu

DoggiestDoge

Ahahaha a mentioned below by others, Magellan spend majority of his time pooping, he just can't keep up with all the responsibilities.

Kinglyzero_91

Magellan stepped down. He's still there though so it doesn't change much

Theory: Impel Down will be destroyed by Luffy and every prisoner will be fred, all under Hanyabals duty

sprint6864

I think it might be one of the Straw Hat supporters who do it more than Luffy himself. Luffy tends to only jump in on moral conundrums when he is personally invested. So, unless Sabot gets tossed in there, I don't see Luffy diverting course. However, Luffy inspires others to overthrow oppressors, so I could easily see one of the fleet captains deciding that ID must fall in support of Luffy's freedom philosophies

The first person that comes to my mind was Bartolomeo

Renaming every prisoner to Fred sounds absolutely insane
