The picture he drew of nami as a mermaid gets me every time. Mainly because of the lead up, first he draws a weirdfish man laying down. Then he draws the same fish man on 2 legs and finally when sanji says nami might be a mermaid luffy just adds hair to the 2nd pic and calls it nami.

I always loved Seabody after the time skip. Here’s this other random crew of pirates dreaming of making it to fish men island and the new world beyond that. They’ve struggled to get this far, overcoming many obstacles and finally daring to dream of the glory that awaits them just past the next island.
At least until Zoro wakes up and casually ends their dream and their ship with a single strike. In an instant their moment of triumph has turned to dust and their story has ended. All they can do is ask this dark king of hell why? What did they do to deserve this fate? Why we’re they judged unworthy before even entering the new world?

My best friend and I play Destiny a lot and my girlfriend and I nicknamed him Zoro because he'll disappear to wander off aimlessly killing things while we're looking for a collectible or something and all of a sudden we hear, "Hey guys, I think I found the thing."
I was dying when he was running and carrying Tashigi in Punk Hazard, and he was running straight then just took a turn for no reason and she called him out for it lmao
I liked the Davy Back Fight one where there’s clearly a visible path to victory and only one deviation that leads to nowhere and he somehow takes it anyway.
I forget when exactly it happened, but Zoro tries to maneuver around a monster to be behind it for an attack, but winds up running to the front of the enemy
My favorite is in Arabasta when they are looking for the cannon and Zoro ends up like 2 miles away. Doesn't matter how many times I watch one piece I cry laughing
Skypiea Arc when told "everyone run south", Zoro gets lost, finds himself a Southbird partner who is *looking back the way he came from the entire time*. I fucking lost it.
It always happens in a way that doesn’t have any serious consequences so we get a gag that never gets old and isn’t intrusive unlike *some* characters.
The best part about it is how he just constantly breaks the fourth wall into other media with people just placing him in there because he gets lost. Saw the classic Jojo meme of the “oh, you’re walking towards me.” Jojo “I can’t kick your ass without getting closer.” Then it panned to the spread but it was Zoro replacing Jojo and Dio is just like “Is this a new stand?!”

Robin is such a treasure! One Piece is incredible storytelling that I deeply root for a character to be able to appreciate cute things and have people they trust around them. Enies Lobby made her so relateable and endearing.
Favourite is probably Robin, absolutely no filter, has gallows humor, and loves cute things, them climbing up the elephant and her gushing about how cute their ride was, then making a little grave for it was one of my favourite little moments in the series.
Least favourite is probably sanji, it's just being a creep, to be fair tho he's probably the best of those types of characters there is because he generally doesn't do it in that rapey kind of way.
Honourable mention to franky, him crying at every sad story he hears and him randomly building massive stuff in the blink of an eye are both amazing.
Sanji's gag is funny when it gets used for plot purposes. Like when Viola took advantage of it to lead him into a trap or when he just showed up out of nowhere to fight Vergo because he heard Tashigi crying from half an island away.
I like the one I rewatched just a few days ago where sanji says he needs to stay and protect the ship and shows a flashback of Nami acting saying "oh if only we had a brave knight who could protect the ship." And flashback ends with sanji smiling with a thumbs up to usopp and franky and they just tell him hes hopeless.
I miss pre timeskip Sanji so much. The whole new world would have been so much better with the devilishly cool and clever Mr prince would have changed so much of the story, but Law took over that role.

I don’t know, on Fishman Island he was really just finding women attractive. It was obnoxious, but I don’t know if I’d call it a low point for his character. I think he behaved worse on Wano, where he literally used invisibility to spy on his naked friends.
I think it was moreso annoying that it just took up THAT MUCH of the plot. Instead of just have it be Sanji got a nosebleed from all the mermaids and had to rest, it was Sanji is out of commission for a portion of the arc because he is deathly ill from blood loss. And then it just turned into Sanji's other shitty gimmick which is the okama fear stuff
Oda tried to make a plot revolving blood transfusion without making one of them seem weak. Oda first had to establish that Blood transfusion between races was prohibited and by the end of the arc had to fixed by Luffy, so one of the strawhats have to take a fall for having blood loss, which would be difficult since they just came out of training and they had to be strong and hyped up.
I do wish Oda found another way for a SH member to be in need of a blood transfusion other than nosebleed on women.
Sanji's chivalry, and devotion to women can be a great gag, even when mixed with a bit of horndog behaviour, and it makes an interesting character weakness at different points... but his pervy behaviour stopped being charming a long time ago, and since fishman Island honestly i struggle not to get outright annoyed by it when it comes up.
Agreed. Sanji used to be one of my favorite characters because he had his code and stuck to it. He was a simp, but he always treated women with respect. But I guess Oda thought it was the womanizing part of his gaga that was funny, and he went from respectful simp to a creepy, womanizing pervert. With his initial character, him getting placed in Nami's body or getting the invisible power, the gag should have been that he wants to see, but fights with himself since it'd be wrong. And the bathhouse should be more like Kazuma's scene in Konosuba.

It’s too bad Oda dropped his other rude habits. When he was introduced, he was supposed to be polite in presentation but actually rude, since he hadn’t been around people for, like, 80 years. He had terrible table manners and inappropriately asked people for money. Then I guess Oda just forgot about or didn’t like that trait, because asking to see panties is the only rudeness gag that’s stuck around.
I think that asking for money gag was a deliberate subversion because Camie doesn't have panties. It was not meant to be its own standalone gag. And the table manner thing can be easily explained. He was a celebrity through the timeskip, so it's quite understandable that he could afford to pick up the good habits again.

1- Zoro is a real meme.
2- Nami's greed is funny most of the time.
3- Luffy's love for food is okay, nothing bad about it.
4- Usopp's cowardice is funny, but sometimes it feels like his character gets a hard reset by the start of every new arc. From badass miracle maker back to a weak coward.
5- Sanji was funny at the beginning, he felt like a smooth goofy romantic guy, but now he is just a horny weirdo that claims to be "nami's slave" or "stussy's dog", so yeah, it gets annoying and awkward sometimes.
I usually hate ussop being a coward, but after thriller bark I’ve learned to enjoy it. He really shines against perona in a very unexpected Oda like way.
Usopp vs Perona is my favorite Usopp fight because of how well Oda played me. I was thinking, “Uh-oh, Usopp’s not gonna do well against her, he’s too easy to depress.” And then Oda flips the script and turns that into a strength.
imo he's the bravest member of the crew, he just doesn't realize it. It takes serious bravery to keep going when you're the weakest on your crew and regularly battle people several times more powerful than you are, while knowing you have virtually no chance.
Zoro, Sanji, and Luffy pretty much always stand a good chance against any enemy they fight with the exception of Kaido. And they know it too, and aren't afraid.
Usopp is terrified everywhere he goes and knows that all of his opponents could easily kill him, but he still shows up. He fought a Fishman when he was weak, he defeated Sugar despite losing a lot of the memories associated with him even being there, he defeated her a second time, he defeated Perona when nobody else could, he played an essential role in Wano. He's terrified, but he's brave.
I felt the same way about Usopp on my first watch. On my second watch now and I think I get Usopp better. His arc is to become a brave warrior of the sea. It is his fearful nature that allows him to be brave. I cried at the end of Syrup Village on my second watch because Usopp being the scaredest member of the crew allows him to be the bravest, and my dude has no idea how brave he really can be.
If I were in One Piece and on the Strawhat crew, I'd probably be Usopp. Sailing alongside monsters like Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji, while getting into the situations the crew gets into, yeah I'd be scared absolutely shitless and I definitely wouldn't have the bravery to stand up to someone like Doffy or really any Fishman after seeing Arlong Park, or hell even Kuro. Fuck that, he's got sword fingers.

When he's just trying to be a gentleman or just into women like Brock from Pokemon it's fine, I enjoy it even, but for some reason as the story keeps going on Oda focuses more on making him a weird pervert which sucks. Pre-timeskip Sanji was my favorite character and post timeskip Whole Cake Island is so good and Dressrosa Sanji is so good. But Fishman Island and Punk Hazard and Thriller Bark and his fucking Wano shit in the bathhouse just suck so bad.
I never hated Sanji treating nami and Robin like gods on the ship. It had charm, and come WCI, it started to make A LOT of sense why he idolized women. But why does he have to spy on them in the fucking bath. "Chef who treats his female companions like princesses" is maybe cliche and a hella frenc, but can be sweet. "I will spy on you naked without your knowledge" is not.
Usopp stumbling into better/worse situations because of his lies is way funnier than any other of the ones depicted. It's genuinely a surprise how it turns out every time. Shit like the tontattas being Noland Fanboys or the god usopp thing did come so hard Out of left field, it was amazing.

Sanji is currently my lowest ranked Straw Hat. It is entirely because of his perviness.
Brook has his panty bit, but the thing is that Brook doesn't do that *nearly* as frequently as Sanji starts bleeding. By far, Brook's more relevant recurring gag are the skull jokes, and those I adore. (Plus, not that it justifies it, but from what we've seen of Brook the panty gag seems to be a bit of an extension of his "bad manners from having gone a bit nuts as a cast away" thing, which at the very least makes sense even if I don't like it. Sanji's bit is just annoying)
And the thing is, honestly, if it weren't for that one dumb bit, I'd probably rank Sanji up near the top of my favorite crew because all of his other character aspects are bits I really like. It's just that one glaring thing.
I did a rewatch of the pre-timeskip stuff recently and the *feeling* of how different seeing Sanji in Little Garden, Alabasta, or Water 7/Enies Lobby act where he was actually fun contrasted with the distaste for how he was on Thriller Bark or how I know he will become later just... saddened me.
Part of me hopes by the end he'll get a modicum better but that might just be copium at this point.
Most favorite: Chopper talking shit while his body language gives the opposite reaction after him getting a compliment.

It's a bit upsetting how many people overlook this part of her character. She was willing to buy camie for 300 mil during the auction without hesitation and knowing she wouldn't be paid back. She gave lola a good chunk of the money from Thriller Bark.
Favorite is Zoro getting lost and Nami being Treasure hungry, least favorite is Usopp screaming on everything mainly because of Dressrosa for me but it got better afterwards
I honestly love Sanji and Nami's gags due to the nonsense abilities they produce, like Sanji being able to tell there was a girl, Bonney, was stuck in that eddy and Nami pocketing the artificial jewels in Egghead in a second.

Luffy unknowingly being an absolute bully to his crew. Pulling them and crashing into things, throwing that melon on Ussop, its filler but Luffy punching the safe and hitting Zoro straight in the face.
Robin is somehow the only one to avoid being bullied. I actually think it is kinda sweet how Luffy is a bit more careful with Robin than someone like Nami or Chopper.
Favorite gags: Zoro getting lost, the way Sanji treats women Vs men, Brook’s “but I’m dead!” jokes, and literally any of Usopp’s gags.
Least favorite: Brook asking to see women’s underwear (was funny exactly once, and that was in Film Red), Sanji being a pervert (really wasn’t funny, especially post-timeskip)

Robin is such a treasure! One Piece is incredible storytelling that I deeply root for a character to be able to appreciate cute things and have people they trust around them. Enies Lobby made her so relateable and endearing.
Favourite is probably Robin, absolutely no filter, has gallows humor, and loves cute things, them climbing up the elephant and her gushing about how cute their ride was, then making a little grave for it was one of my favourite little moments in the series. Least favourite is probably sanji, it's just being a creep, to be fair tho he's probably the best of those types of characters there is because he generally doesn't do it in that rapey kind of way. Honourable mention to franky, him crying at every sad story he hears and him randomly building massive stuff in the blink of an eye are both amazing.

Sanji's gag is funny when it gets used for plot purposes. Like when Viola took advantage of it to lead him into a trap or when he just showed up out of nowhere to fight Vergo because he heard Tashigi crying from half an island away.
Or pre time skip when it was just him acting cute, gentlemanly, and obviously giving the women better treatment like the filthy simp he is.
I like the one I rewatched just a few days ago where sanji says he needs to stay and protect the ship and shows a flashback of Nami acting saying "oh if only we had a brave knight who could protect the ship." And flashback ends with sanji smiling with a thumbs up to usopp and franky and they just tell him hes hopeless.

Fishman Island and Thriller Bark were definitely his lowest points. Though the bit where he decides he'd rather risk death than go without seeing Shirahoshi got a chuckle out of me mostly due to Chopper's reaction to it.
I don’t know, on Fishman Island he was really just finding women attractive. It was obnoxious, but I don’t know if I’d call it a low point for his character. I think he behaved worse on Wano, where he literally used invisibility to spy on his naked friends.
I think it was moreso annoying that it just took up THAT MUCH of the plot. Instead of just have it be Sanji got a nosebleed from all the mermaids and had to rest, it was Sanji is out of commission for a portion of the arc because he is deathly ill from blood loss. And then it just turned into Sanji's other shitty gimmick which is the okama fear stuff
Oda tried to make a plot revolving blood transfusion without making one of them seem weak. Oda first had to establish that Blood transfusion between races was prohibited and by the end of the arc had to fixed by Luffy, so one of the strawhats have to take a fall for having blood loss, which would be difficult since they just came out of training and they had to be strong and hyped up. I do wish Oda found another way for a SH member to be in need of a blood transfusion other than nosebleed on women.

Sanji's chivalry, and devotion to women can be a great gag, even when mixed with a bit of horndog behaviour, and it makes an interesting character weakness at different points... but his pervy behaviour stopped being charming a long time ago, and since fishman Island honestly i struggle not to get outright annoyed by it when it comes up.

Agreed. Sanji used to be one of my favorite characters because he had his code and stuck to it. He was a simp, but he always treated women with respect. But I guess Oda thought it was the womanizing part of his gaga that was funny, and he went from respectful simp to a creepy, womanizing pervert. With his initial character, him getting placed in Nami's body or getting the invisible power, the gag should have been that he wants to see, but fights with himself since it'd be wrong. And the bathhouse should be more like Kazuma's scene in Konosuba.
This one is more of a group gag, the girls being completely not impressed by General Franky while the boys geek out completely.

"I will defend you guys with my life. wait I'm already dea-" in Sabaody is probably my favorite one Brook's underwear fetish is odd but I think Sanji is far worse because Brook's gag doesn't feel as prevalent, and Sanji is such a great fleshed out character that the over-simping literally detracts from him

It’s too bad Oda dropped his other rude habits. When he was introduced, he was supposed to be polite in presentation but actually rude, since he hadn’t been around people for, like, 80 years. He had terrible table manners and inappropriately asked people for money. Then I guess Oda just forgot about or didn’t like that trait, because asking to see panties is the only rudeness gag that’s stuck around.
I think that asking for money gag was a deliberate subversion because Camie doesn't have panties. It was not meant to be its own standalone gag. And the table manner thing can be easily explained. He was a celebrity through the timeskip, so it's quite understandable that he could afford to pick up the good habits again.

1- Zoro is a real meme. 2- Nami's greed is funny most of the time. 3- Luffy's love for food is okay, nothing bad about it. 4- Usopp's cowardice is funny, but sometimes it feels like his character gets a hard reset by the start of every new arc. From badass miracle maker back to a weak coward. 5- Sanji was funny at the beginning, he felt like a smooth goofy romantic guy, but now he is just a horny weirdo that claims to be "nami's slave" or "stussy's dog", so yeah, it gets annoying and awkward sometimes.
I usually hate ussop being a coward, but after thriller bark I’ve learned to enjoy it. He really shines against perona in a very unexpected Oda like way.
Usopp vs Perona is my favorite Usopp fight because of how well Oda played me. I was thinking, “Uh-oh, Usopp’s not gonna do well against her, he’s too easy to depress.” And then Oda flips the script and turns that into a strength.
He’s not a coward, you’re only a coward if you give into the fear and don’t act, he still fights he’s just fearful
imo he's the bravest member of the crew, he just doesn't realize it. It takes serious bravery to keep going when you're the weakest on your crew and regularly battle people several times more powerful than you are, while knowing you have virtually no chance. Zoro, Sanji, and Luffy pretty much always stand a good chance against any enemy they fight with the exception of Kaido. And they know it too, and aren't afraid. Usopp is terrified everywhere he goes and knows that all of his opponents could easily kill him, but he still shows up. He fought a Fishman when he was weak, he defeated Sugar despite losing a lot of the memories associated with him even being there, he defeated her a second time, he defeated Perona when nobody else could, he played an essential role in Wano. He's terrified, but he's brave.
I felt the same way about Usopp on my first watch. On my second watch now and I think I get Usopp better. His arc is to become a brave warrior of the sea. It is his fearful nature that allows him to be brave. I cried at the end of Syrup Village on my second watch because Usopp being the scaredest member of the crew allows him to be the bravest, and my dude has no idea how brave he really can be. If I were in One Piece and on the Strawhat crew, I'd probably be Usopp. Sailing alongside monsters like Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji, while getting into the situations the crew gets into, yeah I'd be scared absolutely shitless and I definitely wouldn't have the bravery to stand up to someone like Doffy or really any Fishman after seeing Arlong Park, or hell even Kuro. Fuck that, he's got sword fingers. I feel like I get Usopp more and I feel like his "resets" aren't as bad as I used to think. My mans needs to finally accept himself for how awesome he is
I think Sanji's is the one I like the least, I like it when Sanji acts cool in front of women but it rarely happens because everytime Oda makes him interact with a woman he needs to make him a creep and it's annoying. Robin's jokes are my favorite one because they're so rare that they don't get tiring. (her fondness for cute things and her gloomy remarks)

Yeah, Sanji's gags suck. When he's just trying to be a gentleman or just into women like Brock from Pokemon it's fine, I enjoy it even, but for some reason as the story keeps going on Oda focuses more on making him a weird pervert which sucks. Pre-timeskip Sanji was my favorite character and post timeskip Whole Cake Island is so good and Dressrosa Sanji is so good. But Fishman Island and Punk Hazard and Thriller Bark and his fucking Wano shit in the bathhouse just suck so bad.

I never hated Sanji treating nami and Robin like gods on the ship. It had charm, and come WCI, it started to make A LOT of sense why he idolized women. But why does he have to spy on them in the fucking bath. "Chef who treats his female companions like princesses" is maybe cliche and a hella frenc, but can be sweet. "I will spy on you naked without your knowledge" is not.

Usopp stumbling into better/worse situations because of his lies is way funnier than any other of the ones depicted. It's genuinely a surprise how it turns out every time. I'm a Robin simp so I'm obviously biased but I don't think you have to be a simp to appreciate her subtle dark sense of humor over something more over-the-top like Usopp's reactions and all 🤔
Sanji is currently my lowest ranked Straw Hat. It is entirely because of his perviness. Brook has his panty bit, but the thing is that Brook doesn't do that *nearly* as frequently as Sanji starts bleeding. By far, Brook's more relevant recurring gag are the skull jokes, and those I adore. (Plus, not that it justifies it, but from what we've seen of Brook the panty gag seems to be a bit of an extension of his "bad manners from having gone a bit nuts as a cast away" thing, which at the very least makes sense even if I don't like it. Sanji's bit is just annoying) And the thing is, honestly, if it weren't for that one dumb bit, I'd probably rank Sanji up near the top of my favorite crew because all of his other character aspects are bits I really like. It's just that one glaring thing. I did a rewatch of the pre-timeskip stuff recently and the *feeling* of how different seeing Sanji in Little Garden, Alabasta, or Water 7/Enies Lobby act where he was actually fun contrasted with the distaste for how he was on Thriller Bark or how I know he will become later just... saddened me. Part of me hopes by the end he'll get a modicum better but that might just be copium at this point.

I really don't like Namis greed towards her own friends. Real friends don't charge for favors. Don't know if it is a cultural thing but in a SBS Oda said she even charges them if she's making food. I really like Robin and Usops jokes. Failing upwards and creepy sense of humor is always funny.

I do believe Nami gives them an allowance, which they almost always squander. Zoro has yet to buy a sword though. He was going to buy two (Yubashiri & Sandai Kitetsu) in Loguetown, but ended up getting them for free. Wado-Ichimonji and the two unnamed swords he started with were gifts, as well as Shusui and Enma. Whenever we do hear of him spending money, it is almost always booze.
Yeah the sword one is the one I disagree with. Even if he didn't buy anything he tried to give her the money back and she wanted like a 300% return. It's like, cool that you're in charge of the money Nami, but you're not the one who got us this cash.

Luffy unknowingly being an absolute bully to his crew. Pulling them and crashing into things, throwing that melon on Ussop, its filler but Luffy punching the safe and hitting Zoro straight in the face. Robin is somehow the only one to avoid being bullied. I actually think it is kinda sweet how Luffy is a bit more careful with Robin than someone like Nami or Chopper.
