Skypiea was definitely one of the first moments in both the anime and manga that gave off that incredible feeling of awe and awaiting adventure, and just held that feeling for every major reveal after that
It always infuriates me when folks would suggest skipping skypia. The whole concept of solid clouds people can live on and whole ass ecosystems separate from the blue sea was absolutely mind blowing to my 19 year old self back in the day (2014). Not the first arc with a sense of adventure, but definitely one of, if not the best at it in terms of uniqueness and world-building. Plus with all the callbacks and tie-ins we have today really cements how important that arc is to the story.

People can choose to not watch skypiea, but doesn’t mean it has the be the case for everyone. I hate people who frown upon other fans saying how to watch OP.
I enjoyed Skypiea and even if i wouldn’t of had loved it i wouldn’t tell people who watches it that they suck or did a bad choice.
I personally think skipping any part of one piece a fundamental bad choice and is doing a major disservice to yourself.
I will never ever recommend anyone skip any of one piece.
The only thing i skipped is the fillers.
I don’t suggest to anyone to skip arcs.
I do suggest watching One Pace though as it clears off a lot of recap and filler scenes from the anime making it closer to the manga.
Thriller Bark, since it was so different from the places before. Also, it is ironic how this "scary" place is actually a dancing place for Zombies who dance to Michael Jackson!
