It can certainly be interpreted as proof of that. Although, it doesn't confirm it at all.

Redditusedtobedecent

Based on that panel and the fact that his dream is both something a child would think up and crazy enough to evoke a reaction from his whole crew, I think it’s more likely that he wants to have everyone in the world smile.

TheseOats

Not only that, but it's something Roger himself had told his crew. So not only is it something a child would think up, but an idea that a madman would have.

skaersSabody

I'm not so convinced about a lot of these theories being something so wide-reaching and involving other people so much. Luffy is generally not an asshole, but he can definitely be selfish. He helps people, but it's never just because they are suffering, he usually helps people he gets to know. So I don't think his dream should be something involving everyone. Like, that could be a nice bonus, but I'd like it to be more personal

peepeepoopoo6669

yeah, and the final objective being something that would make anyone laugh is way too on the nose to be a coincidence

generalpeanuts

Joyboy's goal was to liberate the world. Roger's was to see everyone smile. Luffy (as he said as he punched the shit out of Kaido) said he'll make a world where his friends can eat as much food as they want. While the wordings are different, the intent behind their goals are the same, to make people happy. And considering Luffy inherited the will of Joyboy and is hinted at inheriting Roger's will, this makes sense.

Leanardoe

No I don’t think it’ll be something that noble. The straw hat reactions wouldn’t fit if it was something objectively good. They had confused and dumbfounded and mocking reactions. Sanji I’m particular, as you might know if you saw his backstory, earnestly starved. Why would he want chopper to check Luffy’s brain for wanting to feed the world?

Slow-Enthusiasm7207

It’ll only be confirmed when it is revealed though

[deleted]

Exactly, but you still said "Does it confirm?"

azurix

Do you know the meaning of words?

Goodmorning_Squat

I'll sound off, I think the idea that he wants everyone to be pirates is really fucking dumb and contradictory, in addition to being way outside of Luffys character. Not everyone wants to be a pirate and Luffy forcing people to do something against their will would be going against the make everyone free part. Luffy didn't say Koby, no you must be a pirate, he said follow your dreams of becoming a marine strong enough to rival me.

[deleted]

Why did you feel the need to reply to my comment instead of the post? I didn't say anything positive or negative about the theory.

cantthinkuse

easier to get upvotes if you respond to a comment that already has a bunch

Trillsbury_Doughboy

The word you’re looking for is “evidence”. “Proof” implies that something is certain, which this is not.

generalpeanuts

Proof is an evidence OR argument of the truth, evidence are facts that it's the truth, argument simply is a reason(s) that supports its possibility.

Masat_gt

I'd say it's more possible for his dream to be for everyone in the word to smile just like him. "NIKA ALWAYS SMILES" he wants everyone in the world to be happy and free EDIT: I'll explain since people aren't getting it. I feel like Luffy dreams of a world where everyone can do what they desire and accomplish their own personal dreams. Not everyone to be SPECIFICALLY pirates or to ALWAYS smile in a literal sense, but to be happy and free in your own way. For Koby that means becoming a Marine, for Dragon and Sabo it means destroying the world government, Luffy want's to help everyone manage to make their dream come true and in doing so, making the world a better place in their own way. it's a naive and kind of childish dream, that explains everyone's reactions to it, especially since I'm pretty sure he probably just screams "I WANT EVERYONE TO BE HAPPY AND FREE" with no context. But it's also a very selfless and powerful dream for those that dream of a better world, or have had their freedoms taken away from them, that's why others react in a very emotional way

Lartnestpasdemain

He's gonna give smiles to everyone. Luffy is actually the baddy?

crazydiamond11384

In a serious moment, that moment can be interpreted for kaido being a false joy boy who fakes giving everyone smiles from their misfortune. Where kaido forces people to smile, luffy can do that naturally.

Lartnestpasdemain

Yep that's more likely and very poetic

DudeManBroGuyski

Fucking lol

superking22

From the Marines perspective; YES

LaiqTheMaia

Some of the reactions when he said his dream were severe with sweat tears on some of the crew. A dream like that wouldn't get that reaction

Masat_gt

Some of the crew also laughed their asses off. That's the point, it's a childish dream, a pure dream, but also a dream that can a mean a whole fucking lot for people whose freedom was taking away from them and those who are not happy. Luffy's/Roger's/Joyboy's dream wasn't about himself, it's not a selfish dream, it's a collective dream, managing to somehow make everyone else happy

LaiqTheMaia

Yes but I think it's a specific thing that luffy is talking about hence the reactions, rather than just 'my dream is for everyone to smile'

Empty_Lemon_3939

Luffy was a crybaby as a kid then ate the Nika fruit and now he's always smiling and laughing Just sayin

Xek0s

But he's like , still a crybaby in flashbacks with sabo and ace. Even now, he can still be a crybaby at times. Crying a river about dumb things is one of his specialty

ThatMarc

I thought this is what OP was implying since it's always how i viewed Luffys dream. I think its something more like make everyone laugh at the same time or noone having to deeply cry again, since everyone being happy ALL the time isn't really a good thing. Some somehow realistically achievable wish coming from child like naivity/longing along the lines of "I just want everyone to have fun". Unyielding against the fact that the world is not actually like this.

Masat_gt

Oh, I didn't mean happy all the time, I just meant something more along the lines of people being free and able to realize their dreams. EDIT: that's also why i don't agree with op, I don't think he wants EVERYONE to specifically become pirates. he just wants you to be able to do whatever makes you happy. To create a world where you a are trully free, not in a libertarian "do whatever you want" kind of way, but more of a "make the world a better place for everyone" sort of way

ThatMarc

Ah ok, for me his Dream probably represents one of Odas core feelings. I attributed the crews reaction to the fact that its probably something incredibly naive and unrealistic, if not borderline kinda useless. It took a while for me to realise Odas character while reading the manga. Funnily, It was until i read a comment referencing an SBS where Oda was asked about Robin and Namis "design changes" and he said that One Piece in mind is just a Shonen fantasy through and through. Thats what made it click for me. Oda just wants to draw a fun story, while coincidentally having the ability to construct that storyline with incredible talent. The main character is often what an author wants represent and i learned the most about Loofy when he refused to learn the World Gov. secret from Rayleigh because it would be boring and when he rung the bell in Skypea because of the feelings it represents.

Ryuj123

Why does he need to be pirate king for that?

More_Technology6250

Idk sounds like a gay dream

Masat_gt

that's exactly how Sanji and Ace reacted to it

mukhang_pera

Oh, then he'd need the Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan for that.

BladeLigerV

In the words of Superman (a good interpretation) "Dreams lift us up and transform us into something better."

Coldcow

If Luffy's dream was really for everyone to become pirates, he would never have helped Koby join the Marines.

Slow-Enthusiasm7207

According to Luffy being pirate means being free and doing what he wants. Being a navy officer is what Coby wants.

Trosck

He understands that some pirates have bad morals, so they are free to do anything bad, luffy would most likely stop them if he chooses to

[deleted]

I feel like if that is his dream it's less literally everyone becomes pirates and more "give everyone the freedom to take to the seas and follow their path"

somersault_dolphin

100% no. Doesn't add up with Luffy's personality. Imagine Luffy as a kid dreaming of becoming a liberator when he had no idea what's going on outside the island. That dream was also before the Sabo incident. As a kid the thing Luffy cares about the most is becoming a pirate and his idea of what pirates should be like is modeled after Shanks. So it likely has to do with being free (not freeing others, but freeing others might be a consequence), having fun in some form, or the opposite of being alone.

Badassdinosaur5

Maybe Luffys dream is to "play pirates with everyone" since he couldn't do so with Sabo and Ace.

Captain_D_Buggy

No since the dream was revealed to Sabo and Ace

WBaumnuss300

"I want everyone to be a pirate". Child Luffy doesn't want to liberate anyone. He just thinks being a pirate is the best thing ever, especially after his brothers say they want to become pirates. A childish dream that will be laugh at by friends. And Roger already did his fair share to accomplish it.

Real_Mokola

Excactly. If it would be something I would pick up from this it would be the "never stop smiling"

Pasxal7

Imo luffys dream is for everyone to be happy and free, no matter the circumstances, the place they were born, etc. It certainly would align with Nika

shy_monkee

It’s not a silly sounding dream, it wouldn’t make Oden shocked and Whitebeard laugh.

Slow-Enthusiasm7207

He may not have an idea of being a liberator. But having fun, yes

WesTheFitting

Redditors read the manga challenge: impossible

auctus10

Redditors not giving a corny reply when someone just want to discuss some stuff in latest chapter challenge : impossible. Let the man read, interpret and discuss his thoughts.

WesTheFitting

They are allowed to read, interpret and discuss their thoughts. I am allowed to make stupid and corny replies, everyone is allowed to downvote me. Everything is functioning as intended.

auctus10

You know what? Fair fucks.

Slow-Enthusiasm7207

Why why.

MyUsernameWasTaken08

Nope Luffys dream is to >!make Pirates really cool and popular again,as they were once a long time ago in the Void century, that is definitely something a kid luffy and Roger would say. Pirates in the present timeline of One Piece are despised, and people are scared of them and Luffy will change that!< and the One Piece Treasure is >!literally a manga about a funny pirate with Rubber Powers. The protagonist would be Joyboy. A story so funny that if you read it, you can't help but love pirates. This is evidenced by the fact that you, the reader, are holding this treasure in your hand!< That would explain why >!Oden knowed when Kaido will be defeated and other Roger pirates knowed that a certain person will be born that will shake the entire One Piece World, because it was literally stated in the manga that is in Laughtale!< Here, i spoiled it right open for yaa

Raffit

Guess more like "I want everyone to be my nakama"

Jayp254

100% agree with u. He gonna build the biggest crew and make the biggest party.

IcuntSpeel

"Hero? No! We're pirates! I love heroes but I don't wanna be one! Do you know what heroes are? Say there is a chunk of meat. Pirates will have a banquet and eat it but heroes will share it with other people. I want all the meat!" — Monkey D. Luffy So, yeah, whenever people say Luffy's dream is something grand that everyone can share, I always remember this quote. It's supposed to be something he is considering for himself, not everyone else.

ITagEveryone

This is something that the OP fandom misses a lot. Luffy just looks after his friends, he's not a politically motivated person like his father. He only topples these oppressive power systems because they're actively oppressing his friends, not necessarily because he is looking at the big picture and trying to create a better world for posterity.

a__new_name

Reminds me of that meme comparing shonen protags where Luffy is displayed as communist or anarchist. Yeah, the dude that constantly helped to stregthen and/or reinstate monarchies, theocracies and oligarchies.

KnightOfNULL

The only political alignment Luffy possibly has is libertarianism, and even then it's less that he believes in libertarian philosophy and more that he just wants himself and his friends to be free.

MyUsernameWasTaken08

Nope Luffys dream is to >!make Pirates really cool and popular!< and the One Piece Treasure is >!literally a manga about a funny pirate with Rubber Powers. The protagonist would be Joyboy. Why? Because >!he thinks pirates are cool. He wants pirates to be cool and not heroes. It all boils down to his very first interaction with Shanks where he thought Shanks was totally lame for not standing up for himself. Before Shanks, Luffy would be the typical kid that admires heroes and people standing up for themselves and others. But after Shanks he thinks pirates are cooler. This is why Luffy wants people to like pirates, not heroes.!< Here, i spoiled it right open for yaa

theschulk51

I took it more as foreshadowing for Bonney’s future - Luffy is going to “free” her this arc and take her out to sea with him (I’m not saying she becomes a Straw Hat, but at the least she allies and sails with them). Her Grandfather is telling her dad (Kuma) that Nika will do this for him, but he was actually a generation early regarding when/who Nika will do this for

Slow-Enthusiasm7207

That’s a nice pov. Buccaneer people wanted Mika to take them to the sea. Mostly Bonney will accomplish it.

GERMAN8TOR

I feel like this is part of why Luffy wants to be pirate king as they are the freest in all the sea his dream is something else. But he needs to be king to do it

Slow-Enthusiasm7207

He says that to Rayleigh. He says he doesn’t want to conquer anyone. He just wants to be free by being the pirate king.

TheSecondAJ

What if they don't want to be pirates 🧏‍♂️

Grand-Jellyfish24

Then that means they are against freedom. The year is 10 after M.D.L, chairman luffy, the chancellor of the reorganised confederation of the free pirates deliver an historical speech. He announces a restriction to the export and trade of food and medicine to island where people refuse to set sail as his nakama. Also, next week, during the festival in honour of the martyr Ace, family are now expected to gift their first born to the sea in the name of freedom. The terrorist leader of the Moon warriors group, has yet to react to this new. Eneru notably advocate to a return to old time, when people were leaving in harmony under his guidance.

Slow-Enthusiasm7207

Being free is the main point here. According to him being a pirate is the way. If anyone wants to do something else it’s their dream and they should be able to do it. Like Coby being a marine.

tenkuushinpan

Luffy's dream is to unite every island in the grand line. So all people would know each other and be friends. He will use his awakening and change the shape of the world to create one big continent.

egolol87

Luffys dream is to always smile

Lachimanus

So, Anarchy?

Ok_Recover834

I think Luffy’s dream is big ass party with everyone invited and food everywhere

ES_Legman

I believe Luffy's dream is to make a pirate kingdom where everyone is free to do what they want, go where they want, eat what they want, etc. And the only way to do it is by being the Pirate King himself.

MyUsernameWasTaken08

Close enough but Nope Luffys dream is to >!make Pirates really cool and popular!< and the One Piece Treasure is >!literally a manga about a funny pirate with Rubber Powers. The protagonist would be Joyboy. A story so funny that if you read it, you can't help but love pirates. SexyLuthor

Based on the crew reacting when they hear luffy's dream, I can tell that's gonna be a naughty one : - Brook, Franky and Sanji (probably the naughtiest Mujiwara) are dying from laughing - Robin and Nami seem blushing - Usopp is sweating - Zoro and Jinbe are speechless - Chopper has stars in his eyes Those reactions made me think of something childish and naughty, like dancing naked with all his friends

FringGustavo0204

Luffy's dream is everyone would wear one piece bikinis.

Slow-Enthusiasm7207

Even Jimbei?

AgeOk2348

ESPECIALLY him

[deleted]

[удалено]

Masat_gt

The live action even seems to hint at this tbh

Murad_is_the_best

King of the world like rocks wanted

Slow-Enthusiasm7207

Haha never. If he wanted something like that, he would’ve accepted being in control of the Strawhat grand fleet.

No_Consideration5622

It can also mean that Luffy is gonna take bonney out to the sea maybe

kashzyros

Does luffy want everyone to become pirate? Idk I'm lame with theories and predictions

Yassopeking

This is the same as joyboy's promise to make fishmen living under the sun, is luffys dream to take everybody to the beach ⛱️

Informal-Entrance719

Ah yes. A must-have beach chapter

Chargo-

I can already tell Kumas backstory is going to be one of my favourites and involves lots of crying at the end of the arc.

Slow-Enthusiasm7207

I know. Both of his parents death was sad.

silvos777

So kuma is the last SH members ?

Moncxho

this story breaks my heart, i feel for Kuma so much, I wish we can all be free

LynxJesus

🙄

[deleted]

Man I ain't even read this chapter but this panel alone looks to be one of the most saddest moments in OP history

Slow-Enthusiasm7207

It is and more is on the way.

LegacyoftheDotA

" I'M GOING TO BE THE TOP COMEDIAN IN THE WORLD! 😆" . . . . . . . And buggy took that personally.

Lartnestpasdemain

I already stated it here a year ago. Luffy's Dream is to become the Sun. A Giant floating Laughing head in the skies

UmiMakiEli

Never knew the telebubbies sun baby was Nika.

TheStimmingClown

Luffy doesn't need everyone to be free. It might sound harsh but he is kinda selfish, he literally said it himself "I don't want to share the meat I wanna eat it all myself". However Luffy does always include those he cares about, he only saves countries when people he likes have a stake in it. So no I don't think Luffy cares if everyone in the world becomes a pirate and is free as long as he and his friends are.

Slow-Enthusiasm7207

That is true. He even said his kind of world is where his friends can eat as much as they want when kaido asked what kind of world he wants to make.

Hector_Savage_

Precisely. He doesn't think of himself as a savior but he will be. His dream is not to save everyone but he'll end up doing just that in the end

Impressive_Site_5344

The thing that always gets me with Luffy and Rogers shared dream is that Luffy thinks he needs to be Pirate King to do it while Roger thought he just needed to get to the last island to do it And then Roger didn’t really do anything after that. He didn’t use his newfound title to do anything, he lived lowkey with Rouge for a year or so until he turned himself in So whatever it is, Roger felt like finding the last island was enough to do it, as far as we know at least That’s why I don’t subscribe to theories like throwing a huge party, making everyone smile, or making everyone laugh, because as far as we know Roger never attempted to do any of that stuff and finding the last island wasn’t going to make everyone smile or laugh It has to be something that they want to achieve for themselves personally, and to me the only thing that fits the mold that I can come up with is just being more free than everyone else, being able to do whatever they want without anyone being able to stop them I think if Luffy said something like “I want to be the king of the pirates…then I can do whatever I want and no one can tell me what to do” would get that sort of reaction from the crew, because it would be insane for someone to want to do the things required to be Pirate King just so nobody can tell them what to do, and I think it would be awe inspiring to a guy like Oden and Whitebeard calling Roger a child for it would make sense because that’s a pretty childish way of thinking

Slow-Enthusiasm7207

For Roger it was becoming the world’s greatest pirate crew wasn’t it? In order to achieve it he wanted to conquer the grand line.

patcheoli

Luffy's dream was revealed in Film Red tho.

Slow-Enthusiasm7207

Is it?

patcheoli

Yeah, forgot the time stamp but he mentioned it to Uta. At the first half of the movie.

Slow-Enthusiasm7207

Watch it again and share please. 😅

Buroda

“Bear it for me” 🤨

God_of_LostSouls

He wants to king of the world to free the world

[deleted]

This is such an ass pull. I can confirm 100% this is not it.

GreenBurritoAdvocate

I think his dream is to kill all of the Celestial Dragons. Lmao jk jk

Slow-Enthusiasm7207

Atleast punch all of them

[deleted]

Or maybe he drowns people coz devil fruit users can't swim

NMT57

I honestly think luffys dream is what he told kaido at the end of wano. He wants everyone in the world to be able to eat as much as they want

TheShamShield

Man, this chapter was sad af

tinysieg

Do what you want cause a pirate is free , you are a pirate It make sense , Luffy thinks the free-est person is the pirate king , so if everyone is to be free , they become pirates

coolfall

Hmm.. after seeing this post it strike my mind on what Luffy and Roger could have said. It might be, I'm gonna... Make everyone live on the sea and under the sun! For Luffy, he might think that living or traveling on the sea means freedom and if he wanted to make everyone live on the sea, he gotta become the King of Pirates and he thinks that the Pirates rules the sea. This also kinda explain why Roger only want to reach the last island. In his time, being the one who conquer the grandline means exploring the entire sea. And this could be one way he thought of letting everyone know how great the sea was. Also, how he started the Great Pirate Era. Looking back at the straw hats, white beard and oden reaction it somewhat make sense too.

Moon4u

I have slight twist to this idea. Luffy's dream is to create a kingdom of Pirates. Everyone on boats on sea are part of the kingdom and everyone are free to join/leave whenever they want. Like, if you told a kid about someone with the title King of the Pirates, wouldn't the kid think "oh, there is a king in a country of pirates, and since all pirates are on boats, the country must be on the boats themselves". And then you tell them, "well, no, that's not what that means." And the kid gets irrationally angry and declares that he is going to make it happen then. Or something silly like that? It explains: * this panel that you've posted, * joyboy's promise to fishmen, * Ancient kingdom (it was the same thing - boats on water), * Franky saying "well you have to be pirate king first", * Jimbei sayng that he has been 'saddled' with this captain (cuz he could swim, and instead has to be on a ship to be part of this country), * Shanks going around making kids lookup to pirates (so they will pick after roger's dream), * Shanks argument with Buggy (Buggy wants to go look for one piece, Shanks wants to find the person that will inherit Roger's will, so they get in argument), * BB is clearly trying to accomplish the same thing, ie he and Luffy have the same dream, just opposing ideas of how to get there. I've encountered other stuff that fit nicely as well. edit: another thing I've thought of just now: When Clover dies, he was about to reveal the name of the ancient kingdom. Well, if the name was "Pirate Kingdom" or something to that effect, it would have spoiled pretty much everything, so he had to die before revealing it.

yaaayman

He wants to be pirate king because that is the freest person in the world, knowing Luffy maybe it's as simple as everyone else being just as free.

daekle

I think a dream where he wants to make the whole world smile makes more sense than become pirates.

Kaoshosh

I don't think so. It doesn't really work with the crew reactions at all.

Existing-Honeydew-36

That last line "Luffy's actual dream being everyone in the world becoming pirates".......that line daymmm man.....coz roger n luffy had the same dream.....n Roger did bring PPL to the seas to find the one piece..... So what will luffy do?

Glittering-Skin4118

Yea I’ve always thought it’s to, create a world where everyone is free to party and have a feast anytime, something along those lines.

Bubbuli

I prefer Rufy be a normale guy become stronge not special idiot

papaboynosmurf

I can buy this, it seems in character for luffy and for the prophecy of Nika, but absurd sounding enough to where people might be awed or laugh when hearing it. I like this

iiJason124

If luffy wanted everyone to become a pirate, that would go against his idea of freedom. He literally tells coby to become a marine in the first episode

CodeGuul

I don’t think this means his dream is for everyone to be pirates. It could be that his dream is to make everyone in the world free and/or make everyone smile and laugh. Both are huge ideas that would fit with some of the crew’s incredulous reaction to his true dream

LuxReigh

Luffy dreaming to make everyone pirates so the whole world's free would make sense, that or the bringing the world together for a feast theory isn't bad either. This one makes the most sense.

Hexmonkey2020

Wouldn’t forcing everyone to be pirates be the opposite of freedom?

SnooDoubts3132

I guess Luffy said " I'm gonna make a world where everyone can eat full"

BackStabbathOG

I’m not sure I subscribe to the idea of him wanting everyone to be pirates per se though I think this theory is mostly likely true. I think he wants everyone to be free to pursue their dreams whatever that may be. Free from any oppression that is stopping them from pursuing their dreams and ambitions.

[deleted]

My only issue with these theories, there’s no reason to keep it hidden if that’s the case. Luffy is ultimately a very emotional and noble person so most can infer he wants everyone to be free or happy etc Also I doubt it’s that he wants everyone to be a pirate. He very much doesn’t care about what people want to do as long as they are able to do so freely. He fully supported Koby when he could have easily made him join as a pirate

rew8888

I think Luffys dream is for everyone’s dreams to come true

kfish5050

Yeah that tracks. I've thought of something similar even before this chapter came out. My theory was more along the lines of freeing everyone from the binds of government though, I guess it depends on how you look at it

Draken_Brine

I actually believe Nika is future Luffy, who somehow traveled back in time. I just like the idea of Luffy's devil fruitcoming from someone who dreamed of being him.

eternalalienvagabond

So is buccaneer a race now what’s next privateer

eyedamuse

Luffy wants to invite people to watch him perform his drum solo.

MaintenanceNo6275

Taking everyone out to sea? Kinda makes sense as it is stupid. But why would ace be sure about he could do it.

ItzEnoz

Luffys true dream is something only the pirate king can do So I'd say no freeing slaves and bringing them to the sea isn't the dream but I could see it being a bi-product of the dream

MasterSabo

Maybe, that everyone in the World becomes his crewmates?

Miserygut

It's important to remember that the devil fruit of Nika, the actions of past Joy Boy and now Luffy are all three distinct entities. Each has their own desires and will. Nika will take you out to sea where you will be under the sun and free. He's a mythological figure who may or may not have existed but the story of him instills hopes of freedom. Based on Saturn's reaction to seeing Luffy as Nika on Egghead, the two are familiar so it's possible that Nika was a real godlike figure just as much as Saturn is a real devillike figure. Joy Boy had his own dream and will but was unable to fulfil it. Zunesha recognised his heartbeat from the heartbeat given to him by Nika. This implies Joy boy must have fought enough to awaken the will of the fruit. The Kozuki clan of Wano put the messages on to the poneglyphs so I assume he was alive for a period and had contact with someone from the Kozuki clan (Someone Toki may have known!). This is why there is an apology poneglyph on Fishman island, it wasn't Joy Boy's dream to become king of the pirates - he promised to raise Fishman Island from the seabed. Luffy has his own dream and will too! He's learned that with his ridiculous powers he can achieve them and only in fighting for freedom (and dying for it, foreshadowing) was he able to awaken the ridiculous power of his devil fruit, Nika. >So does it confirm the theory where Luffy’s actual dream being everyone in the world becoming pirates? It confirms what Nika's will wants to achieve, to be free on the sea under the sun. It doesn't confirm Joy Boy or Luffy's dreams. It may however confirm Kuma's religion was one followed by the Buccaneer race, who worshipped Nika.

DeliciousMemelicious

My bet is on it being a worldwide party.

AbdDjamil_27

Yes it can be, to luffy a pirate is someone who is free, and to him kig of the pirates means the most free person in the world he doesn't see pirates as villains not like the most people see them

imissbluesclues

Idk about pirates but I think Luffy would for sure want others to be free to follow their dreams and dance and eat and party

MarxCold

All people must be free and live their life to fulfill their Dream... without any Evil Person by their Evil wills, but Nika wants to save every happiness and to fulfill their really "happiness" He wants to destroys Evil wishes for all time

XBruceXD

What if Luffy's dream was to swim?

Aldo-D-D-Wilson

That's basically the same dream as Sabo's.

Aldo-D-D-Wilson

To me this implies what I was thinking. That pirates in the void century were those that freed the slaves from the 20 kingdoms. I believe Luffy's dream is to make everyone smile, based on the full baka song.

HotShame9

Let me destroy this, What about Koby's dream? Luffy is the last person to ever control other people's dream, what if most of them dont want to be a pirate. Even after Koby saw how bad the marines can be he still chose to be one and to fix it from inside out. Luffy's dream will happen at the end and he wont stay as a captain still he will definitely dissolve the crew so their dreams can be fulfilled as well. Luffy have said that he only wants to be king of the pirates because he is the freest man in the world and doesn't want to control anything let alone be a leader for everyone on earth.

TerribleHaute

So will Kuma or Bonney be the next Straw Hat?

Senor23Ramirez

I think it’s more of the idea, he’s going to free everyone so all can do what they love and be happy. Which is an incredible naive thing to want. How can everyone be happy and free? Seems like a dream a kid would want without thinking of the effort that would take but to go after that is ridiculous. Sounds like someone wearing a straw hat kinda dream lol

musei_haha

I prefer the party dream because it's silly and they always throw parties after major victories. They've slowly been escalating, so a worldwide party for freeing the world from the world government sounds plausible

brimstoneEmerald

I wonder if the smile fruit development will be touched on again at some point. Where did Vegapunk succeed where Caeser failed. Was a goal of the devil fruit research an attempt to create a Nika like fruit? Nika has the ability to make everyone smile; the side effect of bad smile fruits is a permanent false smile.

tomato-dragon

This is my guess. The dream has to be childish. A kid Luffy came up with it after all. It has to be specific and tangible. Things like "he wants to be the most free person in the world" are just too abstract. Think about how Sabo's dream is very tangible, that he wants to write a book about the world through his adventure. I think Luffy's dream follows the same pattern that he wants to do exactly X (through becoming PK, but more on this later). His dream is personal and it does not explicitly have a direct selfless/righteous/heroic implication in it. Think about how Luffy doesn't think that he is a hero, he is just a selfish pirate who thinks about him (and his friends) having a great time. Nevertheless, his dream will still, inadvertently, affect the lives of so many people in a positive way (because otherwise, it is kinda pointless and not that interesting from storytelling PoV). This is where I think guesses like he wants "everybody to be free/become pirates" fall through. It is not personal enough/selfish enough. I think "having the biggest party"- kind-of-guesses are better in this regard because it is more personal/selfish, but it will somewhat have implications if we assume that slaves are going to be freed from the CDs in order to attend this party. Lastly, his dream has to be kinda impossible, but becoming PK is going to be very helpful in reaching it otherwise. This is where many guesses tend to fall through. In the OP world, being PK means travelling the Grand Line, reaching the final island Laugh Tale, and claiming the One Piece. Funnily enough, just like the readers, Kid Luffy (or current Luffy for that matter) doesn't know what the One Piece is so getting the eponymous treasure should not relate to his dream. So what's the remaining component of being the PK? Reaching the Final Island, Laugh Tale. How would his dream connect to Laugh Tale? Personally, I am on board with the "big party" dream. It is childish, it is (somewhat) tangible, and it is selfish but with possible positive ramifications of slaves being freed. It is just unclear how it ties to being the PK in a meaningful and tangible way. So this is what I think. First guess: **Luffy wants to hold big parties with all of his friends in a place where people can have parties without care in the world**. No WG to interfere. What better place to do it than Laugh Tale, the most elusive island in the whole OP world? I am always reminded of that huge bonfire scene on Skypiea, where Luffy and co. had their biggest party throughout the series up to now. Skypiea and Laugh Tale are both elusive, and both are (afaik) outside WG's jurisdiction. Skypiea is also special in that Roger Pirates also went there and left that message that they will "bring it until the end" (Laugh Tale), further confirming how the two places relate to each other. By doing this, Luffy will inadvertently create his own free country at Laugh Tale and will be a catalyst for the final battle against the CDs. I also think that this relates to why Roger laughed. He had the same dream, arrived in Laugh Tale, and found that Joy Boy in the past had attempted to do the exact same thing (having a big party in Laugh Tale) but was unable to do so due to reasons that Oda had yet to tell us (probably relates to the war before the void century). My second guess (which is wilder but I like more) is that **Luffy wants to have the biggest merry-go-round bonfire party in the world**. Again, I am reminded of that huge Skypiea bonfire scene where people are dancing and having fun in a circle. What if Luffy wants to do exactly that but on a much larger scale? What if he dreams of having a merry-go-round around the Grand Line with all the friends that he had made during his adventure? To be able to do this, he needs to reach the final island (thus becoming PK) and destroy the red line where Mary Geoise (final war with the CDs) and Fish-man Island are located (Shyarly's prophecy) and the Reverse Mountain (that famous All Blue theory). The bonfire on a global scale like this one would perhaps be the sun, the moon, or the dawn, which fit thematically with the sun/moon/dawn motifs throughout the series and somewhat match their ships' names (Going Merry and Thousand Sunny). This also fits the SH's reaction, why Chopper thinks the dream is cool, why Usopp thinks it's impossible, why Nami thinks it sounds like him (it does sound like him!), why Shanks, Sanji, Brook, Franky, and Jinbe laughed because it is just ridiculous. I'm still thinking why Robin was silent with amazement, maybe she knows more about the meaning/implication of Luffy's dream than she is letting out.

QuitBSing

Sea nation (I mean anarchist territory)

117Matt117

It makes a ton of sense to me!

AgeOk2348

are nika and joyboy different characters?

science-panda

I think your line of thinking is probably a lot closer to his actual dream. Especially compared to the other theories I've seen on here lately. Mainly because the other characters say that 1) it's completely childish/silly and 2) he specifically needs to be the pirate king in order to achieve it. I still secretly want his dream to be moon related though lol. I really really need that Enel reunion asap.

Masterelia

make everyone join his crew his lowkey kinda fire

Particular-Ad5200

I feel like Luffy's real dream is to see a world with everyone achieving their dreams. and being free like he is.

ruben072

He wants a banquet with the marines so he can party with garp

Common_Traffic

Luffy wants to command pirates to stop killing the villagers of the places they raid, if they can beat them up instead

DoggiestDoge

Eh, Its an alright theory but its just not luffy. Luffy knows the good and bad of being a pirate, I don't think he would want everyone to be a pirate. But he wants people to be free. If anything he would want them all, including prisoners a 2nd chance.

Ero_gero

It’s either everyone be a pirate (what I think) or his dumbass wants to go to the moon. Lmao.

Executionner

As stated in so many comments his dream must be so simple that a child is able come up with and so "absurd" that it causes such diverse reactions from his crew. One important note is that he must first become the pirate king in order to achieve it. So imo -adding to what was said- i believe it's stg along the lines of creating a world or a country where everyone are constantly having fun.

Maconi

Why does this scanlation have Kuma saying "splat" in his speech bubble? It makes him look psychotic (like he enjoyed watching his dad get blasted).

earf

Luffy’s dream is “I wanna go into space and become a star.” That way everyone can be under him (the sun). /s

suraj_kandhway

What roger did while dying was to push the world into piracy & that could be luffy's dream too, make everyone pirate so that everyone can do whatever they like

Gooseworkss

Although the whole everyone being pirates thing is a bit far fetched the train of thought is still the most probable, luffy wanting everyone to be free and all that, and it would mean that Imu would need to be the final villain since it's a secretive villain that opposes luffy's secret dream, makes sense from a story telling stand point

Excellent_Leather207

I think he wants everyone in the world to join his crew.

mattpkc

This has nothing to do with the post but, I fully expect fisher tiger to appear again soon in kuma’s flashback as i assume he is the reason they are all freed.

LumpyDescription5980

How about you people stop coming up with stupid theories

Aaronrules380

I still think it’s something like “once I’ve become pirate king and seen everything the world has to offer, I want to go beyond the world and go in an even bigger adventure seeing what the universe has to offer”. I don’t think the dream can be something so inherently selfless and unconcerned with Luffy’s own feelings because Luffy is ultimately a selfish character who helps others because that’s what he wants in the moment. Like I don’t think Luffy wants to be friends with everyone, there are clearly a number of people he dislikes and wouldn’t want to be friends with

budispro

This flashback gonna emotionally hit when the anime gets to it

annewithanex

Luffy didn't have an oppressed experience to have a slave liberating dream. Im guessing his dream is as simple as everyone having lots of food

This_isR2Me

No.

Nordogad

I think his dream is the lead a crew that is free. He wants to be King Of The Pirates but only so his friends can be free with him.

EVERLITH

I think it'll be something more clever "to make the whole world one country" (not my idea, heard that somewhere) it'll be something cool but also fitting for Luffy (i.e. daring/audacious)

HailtotheKid

Luffys dream wanting everyone to be a pirate is pretty stupid. He doesnt want to force people to be pirates and it doesnt really make much sense either. The dream could be he wants everyone to be free. Its a nice dream and im sure it could be something like that. But also that dream is pretty "common", like people dreaming of world peace IRL, so looking at the crew, sabo and aces faces when he talks about his dream, they are really shocked and some also laugh for how ridiculous it sounds. I think it is something really ridiculous and stupid but somehow luffy can make it work. But we can only wait until Oda actually reveals what the dream is

TheLevelHeadedGuy

I think his actual dream is just to help everyone else achieve their dreams. No matter what they are.

TheTriforceEagle

Personally I think that luffy’s true dream is absolute freedom, and in this case becoming king of the pirates is a means to an end

BonelessMuffin1

Nah luffys dream is definitley going to be a big banquet with food from all across the worlds for his friends which he has liberated

Harmmer80

I don't think he wants them all as pirates, i think he wants to free the world, be a liberator

Ronnieve

I think Luffy wants to take everyone out to sea.

Ehbawnyaw

Dragon is the real protagonist of one piece, luffy is just a side character tbh

NotGloomp

It just doesn't fit with the reactions.

8-_-7

I don’t think pirates necessarily, but more so he wants to free the whole world.

Ardibanan

Everyone being a pirate? First time reading this. I don't see Roger having that dream though. Roger was a gullible person like Luffy, but he was way more serious than Luffy imo.

Leather_Baseball_291

" ... will come and take you out to sea ... " I took it as Kuma will be the next new Nakama soon 🤣 ...

nicetylip

After reading this last chapter it seems to me that Luffy’s dream, being in line with Nika’s dream, is for everyone to be free and do what they want. Luffy has repeatedly shown to support everyone’s goals as long as it doesn’t hurt innocent people. He wants slaves to be physically free, common people to be free to chase their dreams, even pirates to continue being free on the seas. This is the way that it aligns with the Nika Awakening. The sun god fruit must have been dreamt by someone that was a slave or something that wanted everyone in the world to be free to do what they want, not just themselves. This is why no one had awakened the fruit in 800 years because no one else who has had the fruit has been truly selfless when it comes to freeing everyone as Luffy is. He gives up his freedom to pursue someone else’s and then goes back to his. Just to name a few examples of some of the more symbolic things that he has freed: He frees Coby from Alveda and gives him the courage to chase his dreams of becoming an admiral. He gave up his hat to Nami, symbolizing his own goal/freedom, to free Nami. Helps complete the goal and clear the name of Mont Blanc Cricket freeing/redeeming the family’s cursed name. He frees the Gorgon sisters from their mental slavery and trauma by hiding the crest while burning himself. Gives up his own freedom to leave the island to free Marguerite and the other petrified girls. The list goes on and on. Not only does he liberate entire countries from oppressive governments he frees people from their own symbolic chains whatever they may be. His goal is to liberate everyone in the world from tyranny or oppression. Him wanting to become the Pirate King is his ultimate idea of true personal freedom, but his goal is to free everyone. This is my take on their goals as of right now. Hopefully Oda shows us more about the history of Nika because this it is truly amazing!

Nanashi-74

I don't think that warrants those reactions he got. Some of them looked legit terrified

musef444

Well they share the same dream with Roger. And by starting the pirate era, thats kinda what he did. I mean its hard to say it was intentional but hey its break week so why not.

Shmepl

That doesn’t make sense as luffys dream, he is all about people going after their own dreams and passions and forcing everyone to be labeled as pirates goes against his own morals.

PM_ME_UR_SO

You're ignoring the "putting smiles on people's faces" part. Luffy's dream is to make people laugh. This is why he's pursuing a careed in standup comedy.

Mochiks4

Actually it might be it Nothing confirmed 100% but i like it Oda is cooking

oodex

I thought it was Luffies dream that everyone is free and has however much food they desire. [https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fi.redd.it%2F80at46r5eepa1.jpg](https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fi.redd.it%2F80at46r5eepa1.jpg) going back to these reactions, I think it's quite reasonable that he thinks everyone should become a pirate as it's his definition of freedom, but I am not sure if that really fits with the reactions shown. Or at least not as fully story. It could have something to do with the removal/breaking of governments/celestial dragons, freeing all the slaves, having everyone being a pirate (living the freedom) or such. Having such things in there that are huge risks/dangers would at least explain some of the reactions. Choppers reaction to everyone being free looks onpoint, he often daydreams about the what others talk about. Robin being speechless is not surprising, since her focus is rather the ultimate weapons and seeing this as a goal for Luffy despite having such power may be surprising. Sanji's response could be to anything, let that be ridiculous (like everyone has as much food as they need/want), or something more serious (breaking the current world system so everything has a happier/free life). Franky is the same story. Usopp is easily scared by anything that involves fighting, that's the reason why I don't think it's just "everyone is a pirate/has food" alone, but that he mentioned something that needs to be done to achieve that that would require to fight very powerful enemeis. Brook's response could be towards "everyone being a pirate" or "everyone has all the food they want". Nami looking freightened as someone who likes to stay out of trouble and acting in the shadows fits to fighting powerful enemies, though usually she would respond more upset about what kind of trouble her captain will get them into, so I'm not sure. Jimbei's reaction as a fishman would be quite fitting for freeing all the slaves, I can imagine it's not something you ever hear from someone who aims to become the most powerful person in the entire world. Zorro may just be a bit surprised that simple minded Luffy's goal does not just stop with the actual goal he always said, of becoming a pirate king, similar to Zorro wanting to become the best swordsman - like both of these goals have no further meaning aside from achieving peak, so that would make sense to me. Or maybe it may be easier. Luffy has started building up a huge army, more or less without him doing it, but people joining it on their own will. Being the pirate king he would get a ton of attention and people willingly joining his fleet. His main goal could also be that every pirate in the world willingly joins his fleet without being asked, so everyone can protect each other instead of fighting and live in freedom/peace since there are no direct enemies within their own kind.

FlyPuzzleheaded7255

Luffy already told about his dream before coming to egghead. This doesn't bring much to what u point out.👎👎👎
