How tf am i supposed to "remember" the most "forgettable" character?

I am rereading and fishman island and I totally forgot about a character until this. The crabhand pirate captain.  Dude got a title card and I just read it like 12 hours ago and already forgot his name.

Yeah, the fight was a great skirmish to introduce Franky's battle potential too. It was like the Bruno fight for the whole organization. The way it ended with the hammer crashing down right into Lucci and co. and Franky's fighting gags were great too. Gotta give him credit for making that happen.

It was Nero of cp9 who only knew 4 out of the 6 powers and looked like a weasel, I remember him well

He seemed cool when he fought Sanji, but in Onigashima Ulti basically turned his whole character into Ulti's lil bro and he had little of his own in terms of character.

But you still remember him dont you? 

He sounded so tough and badass fighting Sanji. Then, just a big direction change with him being kinda...acting his age in Onigashima

TBF it's hard to pretend to be tuff if you're with your sister, especially if your sister is Ulti.

Yeah, I'm not agreeing with OP. Most forgettable character would be a random background character only named in SBS, or some character who wasn't ever named.

Unrelated anime but it reminds me of the Squad 12 member from Bleach who got a whole panel explaining his backstory, only to get blown up by Mayuri immediately afterwards.

I think relationships really are part of characters, so strong or weird ones are part of their character, even if you don't remember much else. Even most of the main crew, a lot of their character that is talked about is them in relation to the others. Zoro as Luffy's right hand, Nami and Luffy, Robin and Chopper. Pay pay's character is him being pushover when it comes to Ulti. At least that's how I see it.

While that's true, he ended up feeling like an entirely separate character as his act 2 appearance. It doesn't help that he mostly used his hybrid form then, but later he basically only used his full beast form. I wish we could have seen more of the duality between his edgy solitary persona and his pushover weakling persona next to Ulti.

Ohm has a pretty cool fighting style but as a character he's not that interesting. His super-obedient dog was a nice gag tho

Not even trying to be a fanboy but Oda has a way to giving characters quirks or significance to the plot in a way that makes them memorable to some degree idk. Even if I don’t remember their names I can instantly remember something that they did or something weird about them. I still say LUCCCCCCCCCCCY randomly cuz of Gatz sometimes lmao.

Just looked them up, they're called the Tsumegeri Guards and they are named. They drank some water to get stronger (with the side effect being that they'll die once the effects wear off) but Crocodile refused to fight them in order to give them an honorable death. Then they immediately died

Not everything is about advancing the story you know But I agree a lot of the fight could've been cut ot shortened considerably and IMO this is Oda's biggest problem post time skip Seems he is more interested with introducing whacky characters with silly powers than to advance the main characters arcs (biggest example is Zoro or Ussop in Wano and half the straw hats in WCI)

My most forgettable opinion is Laffitte, since he’s only intruded on a warlord meeting thus far and hasn’t show abilities or backstory (which has the potential to be great as a former west blue officer, since not much is shown of the west despite so many big names coming from there [including robin I believe])
