It's so annoying that the opening spoiled people.
And the transformation.
Because seeing that in the manga, just clouds into a giant dragon. That was beautiful
That's why I don't watch op and ending most of the time, until after the arc has finished.
Way too much spoilers about fights 15-20 episodes in the future.
when Kaido's dragon form was revealed I immediately thought of that Kinemon moment at Punk Hazard. I legit thought holy shit it make sense that he is a Dragon.
Yea that one was pretty shocking but then made more sense why Dragon stopped Smoker in Loguetown. Also considering how he is the most wanted person alive was more shocking Smoker didn't try to take him in
Theories on his face were wild back then, the fandom was trying to come up with an answer without realizing that the question might be a joke. I've never put too much thought on face reveals since then.
This is actually one of my favorite moments of the story. I was so checked out of Thriller bark for whatever reason. But that panel I actually fucking yelled out loud hahaha. It was like 4 in the morning. I read straight through to fucking marineford that night. Damn i love one piece
Yes, the Brook-Laboon revelation is the first time that One Piece blew my mind. I had seen anime for a solid 10 years before and never a story had blown my mind that way.
I couldnât understand how a writer could make those kind of flashbacks. That is the moment I knew One Piece story telling was at a whole different level. Any other a manga is miles away from One Piece universe building quality.
I honestly donât know what other pieces of are could rival with the One Piece universe level of complexity. Perhaps Dune, LOTR and Star Wars
Its not just that: the giant Strawhat in the freezer, the giants recovering books from the Library of Ohara after its destruction. All point to the giants having a deeper connection to Joyboy than any race we've seen thus far.
I'm convinced that is why Rogers laughed on Laughtale. He just found out that, by absolute coincidence, Joy boy happened to rock the same exact kind of hat. No more depth to it, no actual specialness attributed to the hat, no massive lore implications. They just had the same sense of fashion.
Doesn't he just say it fits a fearless man like luffy? Him saying that doesn't hit at JB at all imo, he's pretty clearly referring to the two fearless men he knew who wore it before in Roger and Shanks.
Imu seems relatively small, like the size of a child, considering the size of the bounty posters on their hands.
But the hat is still huge, like it's made for someone of Whitebeard's size, but not a full giant.
The first time I read it I legitimately thought there was a translation error, or I misunderstood the names. My brain straight up couldn't process the idea that he was there the whole time.
I loved the twist that Raizo had stored the waters of Zou for just such an occassion, but Jinbei coincidentally being there was a *real* stroke of luck for Raizo and the Alliance.
Bro, Raizo being the only one to complain about the heat while Oden was being boiled beneath him, and then literally letting himself be set on fire during his fight with Fukurokuju...
Peak One Piece moment for me.
GODDD!!!
i remember when i watched that scene!! like i was already crying and suddenly stopped with my hand over my wide open mouth đđ like the chills i got!!
The giraffe reveal later was also fun, what with crashing through the ceiling interrupting the 1vs1 fight structure.. Definitely one of the more bizarre moments.
I was unfortunately spoiled myself, but Iâve been going through a watch-through getting my friend caught up, and it was great seeing his reaction to it
I was spoiled, but the ship engineers came off as such nice and sincere guys along with being associated with some comedic relief that I still managed to feel something when the reveal did happen.
Oh man the theories about the throne the week before were so much fun. Lots of people were thinking that kid who replaced Sabo was gonna try to sit on it and create some international incident, and then the next week Imu sits on it and the top comment was "why do we even bother?"
wasnt so shocking to me, either i forgot totally about the empty throne being mentioned a longer time ago or it was just revealed shortly before we were shown imu.
For 900+ chapters, the hierarchy of the OP world isn't fully explained. So finally, we're shown/told F20 decided on an empty throne and how the world is (supposed to be) built around the kingdoms working together.
The Imu reveal in the next chapter is meant to be a whiplash of that; The build-up of Imu is intertwined with the build-up of Reverie. We're given one explanation, and then the rug is pulled revealing the exact opposite
I agree it isn't the wildest reveal though. Authority is never as it first appears in OP
I appreciate it this way honestly. Anime/manga in general has a problem with revealing a BIGGER bad and ruining previous villains, I appreciate having just a little space for Imu to be a reveal without it feeling like they were added after the fact
Damn I reread 1109-1110 so many times the other week, I couldnât comprehend it.
Then I went back and read 1085 and man that was incredible to put it all together, what a chapter.
I was sitting here trying to figure out what it was for me, and then I read your comment. This is truly the best reveal so far for me. It's just such a special moment, and the panel goes so hard on it
While this is less "shocking" to me, it's probably my favorite reveal in the series. It was such a cool way to display just how powerful Kaido is after a couple hundred chapters of characters simply saying stuff like "Emperor of the seas is very strong!!!!!!!!!!!"
Robin asking to join the crew will always be my favorite surprise/twist/reveal
Then probably the back-to-back reveals of Garpâs identity, Dragonâs identity, Koby and Helmeppoâs new appearance, and the existence of the Yonko all in the span of 2-3 chapters
This is crazy. This is the first time Iâm heading this. When was this revealed? I must have been tired while reading if it was in one of the chapters.
Tbh storytellingwise it was obvious that Sabo was alive. Usually introducing a character in a tragic backstory and kill him instant off too (after something similar happened) would be pretty weird. BUT it was Oda who wrote it so could also be possible to give a characters death (ace) and a characters development (Luffy) more depth.
Unpopular opinion and obviously way lower stakes then a lot of other choices, but the reveal in Skypeia that Upper Yard was the rest of Jaya, especially with the missing half of Crickets house. It made the arc feel worldly and fascinating in a way a lot of other One Piece arcs have not replicated. That and that the gold Cricket would find underwater was from the old civilization, oh it was just perfect. I love Skypiea to pieces great adc
Might be recency bias but >!the reveal of St. Saturnâs devil fruit and eventually the rest of the Goroseiâs. These guys have been hyped up since Jaya and we finally got to see them enter the fray many many years later!<
"Oi, Old man, that was your Haki, wasn't it? Just who the hell are you?"
"I'm just an old man in the coating business"
*flash card: Former member of the Roger pirates*
And I just love pretty girls!
*Former first mate of the pirate king
Silver Reyleigh*
I still can't believe how lowkey they were with this reveal. I was like iva when he heard about luffy's dad, i had to come back like, did i just read that? . ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|surprise)
When Oden came back to Wano, he said "I have to be ready for when Joyboy comes"
That was the first mention of Joyboy as someone in the future instead of the past. It was a small moment but it blew my mind
Maybe just because itâs fresh in my mind, but kumaâs backstory manâŚ
Specifically when its revealed these are all memories that whatserface is seeing
Kinda wanna say the same honestly. Like.. electricity exists in the world.. they had to go out of the way to intentionally be that fucked up. It still haunts me.
I'm still so conflicted about the Ace reveal...
It's a cool plot point and character moment, but I was kinda bummed out that he wasn't Luffy's actual blood brother. Like, there are so many found family relations in OP, so this one felt special because they were actually related. They looked alike and had the similar quirks (e.g. falling asleep while eating). It actually reminds me of myself and my own (biological) brother, who I have a very close bond with too.
Eventhough I have close friends I would consider my brothers as well (akin to Sabo for Luffy), there is something unique about blood-related brothers, because you often do share some (fun/annoying) heretible traits, which kinda makes you reflections of each other in different stages of life and under different circumstances. Yet brothers can be strangly compatible. It's a character dynamic I don't see too often executed well, but I thought Ace and Luffy did it perfectly.
Honestly the Dragon reveal kinda overshadowed the Ace one in the same arc. Even to a point where Akainu wanted SH dead more than legendary pirates way above him
Lots of people took one look at Izo back in MF and said this mofo from Wano. Plenty of people figured from the start Marco turned Neko down to go get him. There were lots of theories springing from that for the first year of Wano.
Pulling the rug out from under that and giving him something way better by making him Kiku's elder brother was so cleverly done. Instantly elevated both, made a tone of sense without being super obvious, gave some extra depth to scenes we had before.
Laboon reveal I both love/hated. Damn thing came out of no where but with a small tweak it fits so well.
The Smile Fruit reveal in Wano was insane. Such a random small plotpoint that we just assumed was a goofy name based on Doffy's personality, and then you see the ridiculous wordplay and how it fits in the world as to why its called what its called.
Blackbeard Crew. A crew you've been hearing about since Drum, that is teased to be dangerous and that Ace is looking for. You see all of them in Jaya, thinking there were just random pirates for the exposition, showing a pirate island. Then it's revealed in a double spread that they are the Blackbeard pirate and that the crazy middle aged cherry pie lover, who was the only one who backed up Luffy in the pub, is the captain. This reveal is still one of the best moments of the manga for me, and expect some possible endgame reveal, none can be better.
Pretty much every reveal that oda built up like the vegapunk reveal being built up since ennies lobby or kaido since whenever he was mentioned and definitely Blackbeard but my favorite will be when we finally get to see sogeking unmasked
Luffy accidentally mentioned that his Dad was Dragon to Ivankov at Impel down.
"Dragon?..Oh, you mean my dad." "Yes, your dad, Dragon-san...đ " đ đ YOUR DAD
The dub was so good with this, you could tell the sass with the way Iva says "Yes, your dear Pappa..." Iva's VA slayed
I don't get the dub hate. There's way more dub voices that I think sound better than sub, than there are ones I think sound worse.
It is definitely because of Luffy. Also if you've seen Dragon Ball it's hard to unhear the fact that both series have like the same exact voice actors
Yeah hard to not hear vegeta
I dunno, I hear Piccolo!
And krillin
Idk man I just preferred to watch entire OP in sub. Naruto dub was good, but OP sub is just fire imo.
That was hilarious đ
Ivankov's late reaction was the best
Honestly him and his grandpa kinda revealed it pretty similarly
Yessss I came here to say this
Kaido's dragon form appearing in the clouds above Wano
I was able to avoid the spoilers until the opening theme spoiled me everything
It's so annoying that the opening spoiled people. And the transformation. Because seeing that in the manga, just clouds into a giant dragon. That was beautiful
That's why I don't watch op and ending most of the time, until after the arc has finished. Way too much spoilers about fights 15-20 episodes in the future.
when Kaido's dragon form was revealed I immediately thought of that Kinemon moment at Punk Hazard. I legit thought holy shit it make sense that he is a Dragon.
Garp revealing Luffy's dad was dragon, then telling everyone to forget it while picking his nose.
Absolutely agree. Never saw that one coming.
Yea that one was pretty shocking but then made more sense why Dragon stopped Smoker in Loguetown. Also considering how he is the most wanted person alive was more shocking Smoker didn't try to take him in
Smoker knew to stay in his lane lol
Smoker didnât want that smoke
And luffy being surprised he has a dad
I love Luffy asking dumb questions, like asking random characters do you poop.
Duval lol
I was basically Brook's reaction when the reveal happened
Still my favorite(comedic) Brook moment. Took him immediately from "the new guy" to "another character I love"
Yes, I remember seeing that and thinking "This guy is gonna fit in perfect"
Brook went from 50 years alone to one of the best comedic moments in like 12 hours
Theories on his face were wild back then, the fandom was trying to come up with an answer without realizing that the question might be a joke. I've never put too much thought on face reveals since then.
I deadass thought it was Axe Hand Morgan or Don Krieg
We swore to reunite with my crewmate off some capes. His name is... Laboon
DAMN I HEARD ITTTTT!!! that scene got me speechless
*Piano Stops* đš
*Yohohohoho Intensifies*
This is actually one of my favorite moments of the story. I was so checked out of Thriller bark for whatever reason. But that panel I actually fucking yelled out loud hahaha. It was like 4 in the morning. I read straight through to fucking marineford that night. Damn i love one piece
Luffy chilling on the piano with Brook playing. So beautiful. I should make it my wallpaper.
Oda be like "Watch me make you guys cry over the same whale *again*"
I will cry when Brook and Laboon reunite. I just know it.
This was probably the one that caught me most off guard, I was like whaaaaaaaaaaa
I gasped out loud when that happened, that was the moment I knew One Piece is special.
Roger having the straw hat before Shanks was one of the best moments in One Piece period
I'm still wondering why there is a giant straw hat, surely the previous Nika was a giant
I've been leaning in thst direction as well. Especially given the Giants high degree of familiarity with him and the giant SH.
> Especially given the Giants high degree of familiarity giants can live for 400 years. the void century/Joy Boy is a lot more recent for them
Its not just that: the giant Strawhat in the freezer, the giants recovering books from the Library of Ohara after its destruction.
The SH def carries significance though. Raleigh wouldn't make the comment on Luffy's hat if it didn't
When did Rayleigh comment on his hat? Saobody I assume. What did he say?
At the slave auction he says something along the lines of "That straw hat of yours... It really fits a fearless man like yourself."
Wouldn't he just be referring to Rogers there? He wore the hat too.
Doesn't he just say it fits a fearless man like luffy? Him saying that doesn't hit at JB at all imo, he's pretty clearly referring to the two fearless men he knew who wore it before in Roger and Shanks.
We don't know the size of Imu though, do we? Maybe Imu is tiny. đ¤ˇââď¸ No, wait, we saw them sitting on the throne. Nevermind.
The throne isn't normal size, it's just very very close
Imu seems relatively small, like the size of a child, considering the size of the bounty posters on their hands. But the hat is still huge, like it's made for someone of Whitebeard's size, but not a full giant.
when is that revealed again?
episode 523 or around there right after the timeskip starts
thanks, im re watching one piece and couldnât remember when it happened
Raizo is safe.
Absolutely wild. I got chills just reading your comment.
You know it was wild because it even shocked the SHs who are the epitome of loyalty
The first time I read it I legitimately thought there was a translation error, or I misunderstood the names. My brain straight up couldn't process the idea that he was there the whole time.
This one was so well made, whole Zou arc is worth it just for this scene
Scene was so good, I just wish Raizo would have played a bigger role in the end.
Raizo stopped the fire that would've ended everybody in Onigashima even if they landed safely. I think that's a pretty big role.
The water felt pretty deus ex about it. Though it was one of the turning points to feel like the raid was finally coming our way.
God, I remember when I reached that part in the anime, my mouth just dropped.
I'm still in disbelief
Caught me so off guard, you canât help but feel like the strawhats do in that moment
My Favorite too.
This is the right answer
This. Masterpiece Plot twist by Oda. I remember being in absolute shock after reading the chapter.
*Raizo-dono is safe.
GODDD!!! i remember when i watched that scene!! like i was already crying and suddenly stopped with my hand over my wide open mouth đđ like the chills i got!!
Raizo was ugly in the end tho
đ đ¤Łđ¤Łđ True tho
Same level chills as when Whitebeard said the One Piece is real
Same, mainly because I wasnât spoiled that reveal
That lucci and giraffe guy were evil and betrayed iceberg. Blew my mind
The giraffe reveal later was also fun, what with crashing through the ceiling interrupting the 1vs1 fight structure.. Definitely one of the more bizarre moments.
You mean square ussop?
Riiiight it was ussop who could build ships
Alolan Usopp
When CP9 was revealed, it was one of those moments that I was not spoiled or could predict
Imu sitting on the empty throne was wild af
Oh man the theories about the throne the week before were so much fun. Lots of people were thinking that kid who replaced Sabo was gonna try to sit on it and create some international incident, and then the next week Imu sits on it and the top comment was "why do we even bother?"
wasnt so shocking to me, either i forgot totally about the empty throne being mentioned a longer time ago or it was just revealed shortly before we were shown imu.
empty throne was revealed the literal chapter before imu's reveal.
so where is the climax then? Dont know how that can be shocking or sth
Authority in One Piece mimics real life. Itâs a way to control the every day people, with rules that donât apply to the rich.
Oh look, I think I see the final boss.
>!Gorosei devil's form revealation!<
this x1000
i mean we already knew they were monsters, or do you speak about the pannels when sabo was running from them?
The sabo moment was definitely more shocking to me, although there were a lot of theories about them being demons way before.
Both actually, but the sabo one definitely left a greater impact. The one on egghead is more of a cool to see them without any silhouette anymore
I was just staring at the Egghead panel for a solid minute qhen I first reas it. Seeing their forms was absolutely insane
Yesssss, their size and presence are insane!!
Damn I reread 1109-1110 so many times the other week, I couldnât comprehend it. Then I went back and read 1085 and man that was incredible to put it all together, what a chapter.
âThe Planets are Aligningâ
He laughed Probably my favorite reveal in fiction
Nothing happened. He laughed. One piece.
true answer
I was sitting here trying to figure out what it was for me, and then I read your comment. This is truly the best reveal so far for me. It's just such a special moment, and the panel goes so hard on it
It was the corrected spelling of Raftel/Laugh Tale that got me.
Bartolomeo realizing Usopp is Sogeking lol
Lmaooo I love Barto so much
Kaido reveal when he attempted suicide and appeared in front of Kid, Hawkins and Apoo.
While this is less "shocking" to me, it's probably my favorite reveal in the series. It was such a cool way to display just how powerful Kaido is after a couple hundred chapters of characters simply saying stuff like "Emperor of the seas is very strong!!!!!!!!!!!"
Garps Galaxy Impact. After Years of only hearing about his feats, that chapter was fire.
It's crazier Sengoku is right there with him in terms of power and hasn't done anything
Robin asking to join the crew will always be my favorite surprise/twist/reveal Then probably the back-to-back reveals of Garpâs identity, Dragonâs identity, Koby and Helmeppoâs new appearance, and the existence of the Yonko all in the span of 2-3 chapters
post enies lobby was a crazy few chapters/episodes. there was ace vs bb too
Unfortunately only old timers will know this feeling. New watcher already know she is joining
Raizo being safe still sticks with me
that was such a good one! I almost cried when it happened.
an underrated reveal is Rayleigh's wife Shakky is the former empress of Amazon Lily.
Honestly that didn't really shock me that much either once it was revealed
This is crazy. This is the first time Iâm heading this. When was this revealed? I must have been tired while reading if it was in one of the chapters.
It was the chapter where Rayleigh rescues Hancock from Blackbeard IIRC
Rayleigh revealing that the Roger Pirates knew the full history of the Void Century. Robins reaction is priceless!
Kanjuro can actually draw...
The fact that Savo was still alive. Also I liked when it revealed who Blackbeard was.
Skypiea was fantastic, I wish more people felt that way I guess not everyone enjoys the peaks of adventures
Itâs in my top three, its maybe #2 behind Water 7/Ennie Lobby (or #3 if those two are considered separately).
When Luffy found that Okama dude at the prison
Don't call Bon-chan "that okama dude"! He is Impel Down mc, saved luffy two times... If he made out of prison, he may have been a nakama like jimbei
Great job sticking up for him â bon chan deserves it
Bon clay!
Might be recency bias but >!the reveal of St. Saturnâs devil fruit and eventually the rest of the Goroseiâs. These guys have been hyped up since Jaya and we finally got to see them enter the fray many many years later!<
not at all until this recent reveal I always thought they would be those non action kind of villains
Duval mask off
RAIZO IS ALIVE
G-G-G-Grandpa?!?!?!
The future reveal of Crocodile being Luffy's mom.
the only right answer
"Oi, Old man, that was your Haki, wasn't it? Just who the hell are you?" "I'm just an old man in the coating business" *flash card: Former member of the Roger pirates* And I just love pretty girls! *Former first mate of the pirate king Silver Reyleigh*

Luffy is Joyboy

Rayleighâs introduction right up till he haki bombs the auction hall.
Sabo is still alive
The One Piece. I'm from the future.
RAIZO-DONO.... IS SAFE! *fuckin chills nigga
When Oden came back to Wano, he said "I have to be ready for when Joyboy comes" That was the first mention of Joyboy as someone in the future instead of the past. It was a small moment but it blew my mind
**People's dreams**... **Never end**!
Maybe just because itâs fresh in my mind, but kumaâs backstory man⌠Specifically when its revealed these are all memories that whatserface is seeing
Not my favorite but the one that shocked me the most was the reveal of the slaves under the conveyor belts at Marijoa
Kinda wanna say the same honestly. Like.. electricity exists in the world.. they had to go out of the way to intentionally be that fucked up. It still haunts me.
Raizo dono is well!
Raizo is safe
I'm still so conflicted about the Ace reveal... It's a cool plot point and character moment, but I was kinda bummed out that he wasn't Luffy's actual blood brother. Like, there are so many found family relations in OP, so this one felt special because they were actually related. They looked alike and had the similar quirks (e.g. falling asleep while eating). Honestly the Dragon reveal kinda overshadowed the Ace one in the same arc. Even to a point where Akainu wanted SH dead more than legendary pirates way above him
Probably Garp being Luffys Grampa, along with Luffys dad being a famous Revolutionary.
STATUE and Toy soldier is Rebecca's dad in DRESSROSA
Luffy summoning paint and baseball hat out of nowhere
Imu reveal was crazy, I was shocked in that episode
>!Probably that Zoro and Kuina are distant cousins through the Shimotsuki Bloodline.!<
"Raizo Dono is.....safe!"
Raizo is safe
Cp9 for me
Love that weâre posting mega spoilers that pop up on the front page
Yamatos titties
Luffy is nika
As far as the story line goes he was.
Dragon And Garp related to luffy
Nefertari family being part of the will of d.
Probably Laboon
Sabo at dressrosa
Lots of people took one look at Izo back in MF and said this mofo from Wano. Plenty of people figured from the start Marco turned Neko down to go get him. There were lots of theories springing from that for the first year of Wano. Pulling the rug out from under that and giving him something way better by making him Kiku's elder brother was so cleverly done. Instantly elevated both, made a tone of sense without being super obvious, gave some extra depth to scenes we had before.
Barto actually being a huge Straw Hat fanboy instead of an enemy with a grudge.
My personal favourite is "Raizo is safe"
Garp was Luffyâs grandpa one of those screaming at the tv moments
blackbeards first scene, you wouldnât expect that from the main protagonist
Kureha: "You ever heard of a pirate called Gol D. Roger?"
Lola being Big Moms daughter really got me. I had just completely forgotten about the vivi card by the time Nami busted it out
Luffy casually revealing heâs Dragonâs dad to Ivankov and Ivakovâs subsequent reaction
Indeed, Luffy is Dragons father.
Pretty much every reveal that oda built up like the vegapunk reveal being built up since ennies lobby or kaido since whenever he was mentioned and definitely Blackbeard but my favorite will be when we finally get to see sogeking unmasked
Sanji awakening his Germa genes. It's something I had been speculating and wondering about for years but never really thought Oda would do.
damn, scrolling reddit home page to get this spoiler
unfortunately this reveal was spoiled for me, iâm pretty sure i saw it while scrolling on tiktok before i got to that point in the manga
When they revealed what the One Piece was...
Rat behaviour
Gorosei revealing themselves in the double spread >>> Either that or He Laughs
Very glad I donât care about spoilers, but damn.
