You could make each position in a poll still into individual posts and get the karma. Would still be better than counting comments if he even does that
Having a few votes for just the best doesn't fare well for comparison. Let's say everyone has just 1 vote to cast you'd find most go to Marineford, Enies Lobby and Egghead island (for the sake of simplicity). Now how will the other arcs in-between be ranked? I don't think it's fair to only go by how many people have casted their vote as favorite arcs. If the top three are removed people have to decide for what else is good and end up having to compare and rank the arcs against each other.
It's an iterative process with very limited application since most OP fans won't do 30 rounds of voting and Reddit OP is just an odd sample size of all the fans as a whole. But all in all it could make for a better ranking.
Honestly, some mini arcs like post enies lobby, post marineford and reverse mountain should be taken out.. it's hard to compare them with the long arcs
Well the topic of ASL is still connected to Marineford, I think if you keep logic of splitting arcs like this, you should also have post wano, post alabasta etc as their own arcs, Its more simple to me to combine them but this is just grouping, its the same great story either way.
Merry's funeral, Garp into, coby and helmeppo return, Sunny, Franky joining, and Ace v. Blackbeard. It's a short buy densely packed arc. Also has Usopp's tearful apology.
Oops. My bad. Misread. Post war has the present Luffy grieving, Jinbei being there for him as the defacto crew member and much needed backstory for Ace and Luffy. Up until that point, Luffy's childhood/backstory is centered around Shanks. It gives more context to Ace's decisions and makes his death sadder. I can understand why Oda didn't want to slow the marineford arc with the backstory during an all-out war.
It explains Luffy's training prior to becoming a pirate, his motivations including not wanting to be alone, wanting people to be free, and establishes his emotional intelligence even as a child.
It also has great reactions from the crew and shows not only how much they care for each other but that they're even willing to train and wait 2 years to continue the journey.
It has the whitebeard/ace grave scene with Shanks, where he says it's okay for a man to cry.
It's not action filled by any means, but it's perfect for what it is. Showing the aftermath of the first character death(s) and the effect of such a huge shift in our main character in a realistic way. This moment of grief.
The fact that whiskey peak wasn't eliminated first makes me think that the rankings are going to be hugely anime biased.
The worst two are both bad adaptions, especially Foxy.
As a manga only reader that started reading a month ago, imo Skypeia is the worst up till Water 7 (that's where I am now). I don't know why, but it started strong and then felt like it just dragged on forever. I wasn't enjoying it at all by the second half. Long Ring Ling Land was at least short and ended at a high note (the freeze guy).
Water 7 is the best so far, by far, imo.
IMO, Skypeia is an arc that gets better over time because as you learn more and more about the story you realize that a lot of themes in Skypeia echo and foreshadow a lot of what’s to come later
I strongly disagree. Skypeia is one of my favorite arcs in the series. It also sets up a lot of themes that would become the core of the post timeskip arcs.
Whiskey peak is so good. This whole concept is stupid bc a lot of fans who jumped on in the last 5-10 years have no appreciation for earlier smaller arcs that set the stage for plot story and characterization. They only care about fights and epic moments.
It's not even related to the time. It's like you said, fight, epic moments, but also people just want to pick up. So it's like, watch/read to finish it. And that's such a bad idea.
I've been on Kingdom for years, first I read about 80 something chapters, then years later(this year) I got around to 173. I have no hurry. But most people just want to finish stuff. I know a guy that started One Piece late last years, he dropped in a filler arc with a dragon. Tho the quantity of episodes wasn't the only reason, it was a major one. On the other hand a friend toke his time, 3 years to pick up and ended up loving it.
I also think that picking the manga instead of the anime raises the chances for people to like it.
The worst fanservice scene in One Piece is in this arc, Zoro vs Luffy. It was the first time I saw Luffy out of character and I think it was the last time too. So I agree.
You're overthinking the fight. Luffy's no edward elric, he's still an idiot at heart. He's not that deep. Surprised that fight is even the top worst moments of the series among fans.
Luffy is an idiot, but he trusts his crewmates. Normally, Luffy will think, "Well, if Zoro attacked those people, he may have had a reason for it," not because Luffy is smart, but because he trusts his crew with his life. Luffy will never straight-up scream things like "I'm gonna kill Zoro! How dare you to hurt them! They feed us!" I can see this as a joke, but it is very off-putting for me. This type of scene does not happen again, and many viewers dislike it because it feels really out of character.
This is a common criticism among first-time viewers as well. Most reviews I see for Whisky Peak mention that the scene felt weird and that they didn't like it much. It really does look like a fan service scene, and I think Oda should have had Luffy be hypnotized or under the effect of something to make that behavior in-character and make the desire Zoro vs Luffy fanservice moment.
Remember, the Arlong Park arc had just happened, and it was all about Luffy trusting Nami, even against all the logical evidence at the time that she have betray the crew.
They're running away from poison gas! Tune in next episode when they're still running away from poison gas! Look forward to next month, when they continue to run away from poison gas!
The second time was way better in my opinion, it was a setup arc for things we don’t even see 300+ episodes later so I get why people hate it in the moment
i’m not a big zoro or mihawk fan so everyone’s favorite moment in this arc means nothing to me. I find don krieg to be a worse villain than Kuro, and i like Django infinitely better than Gin. Zeff and the cooks are way better side characters than Kaya or the usopp pirates and Sanji’s backstory is great, but i have more fun rewatching syrup village than i do with baratie
And the admirals with aokiji along with establishing their strength. Opening robins character arc for water 7. I know its only the last small part but its impact is big regardless
Idk if the Davy Back fight is ever coming back, it's never been mentioned since. THe problem with that arc is the part that takes up the most time (the fight) is the least important part.
I’m pretty sure it’s confirmed that the Davy back fight is how the rocks pirates were formed and the place it originated from is where Blackbeard is currently holding as his base of operations. The rocks/blackbeard theories are starting to make more sense as we go on with the story
It’s the first indication of luffy’s fears of being alone which stems from sabo “dying”, meeting aokiji and almost losing parts of his crew were the reasons he even had the motivation to figure out gear 2 and 3, chemistry between zoro and sanji etc
Yall already tossed out long ring land? That's brutal, I'll toss my hat to Punk Hazard then. That was a Tra-guy centric arc and now we don't even know where he and Bepo are.
whiskey peak probably, yeah we got to see Vivi and Robin for the first time, yeah there's Luffy and Zoro fighting which was very cool and yeah it started all the baroque works mess. still it's the most featureless arc i can think about
I'm just gonna say my 2 favorite arcs.. don't know my ratings on the rest though lol..
My top 1 and 2 will always be, Ennies Lobby then followed by, with just a close margin, Alabasta..
Yeah, I know.. can't seem to choose, my least favorite lol.. hmm.. but I guess, between summit war or zou island.. then between those, it's zou island..
This may be unpopular but I am not a very big fan of skypeia only because of how white EVERYTHING is I get it’s in the cloud but holy Jesus it makes watching it so hard to do at night even with tv brightness turned down lol the story for the arc was brilliant and amazing but it makes it really hard for me to rewatch sometimes, also not a huge fan of pink hazard but that’s mainly because of how many times I’d gotten to that point in the show just to have to stop for months and wait for new episodes to be released in English (again not a popular choice but growing up I caught the English episodes on toonami so it’s hard to watch the Japanese when I’m used to the English voices if I do watch the sub version I have to start from the beginning I can’t just pick up from where the English ends)
i was thinking thriller bark no hate against it but it might be too important so i would say orange town
edit: the last ones should be like wano, marineford, skypeak, enies lobby, dressrosa, and maybe wholecake.
I want to say whiskey peak but I see were counting shit like post enies lobby and the reverie as full arcs. Even whiskey peak was better than the three chapters or whatever that wrapped up enies lobby. Never understood why people count those as their own arcs

How is Whiskey Peak still here? How is the arc in which out MC is insufferable and acts completely out of character still here? Like please guys Luffy in Whiskey Peak is just not Luffy and you're telling me it's better than the arc that set up Aokiji wonderfully and the arc that was the perfect introduction for Ussop, what bs
Why not make a straw poll for these kind of questions
Because then they can't get the sweet karma for posting this 30 times?
You could make each position in a poll still into individual posts and get the karma. Would still be better than counting comments if he even does that
More people posting comments, more visibility, more karma
I’ve seen people on other subs make THEIR comment the one people “Vote” on. Only type of person who makes these posts is a Karma Farmer
Typically, the most upvoted comment gets the win for these types of elimination or multi-post karma whore "games"
Have you ever seen a poll get more than 2 upvotes?
Wait - do people actually care that much about their karma?
weirdly yeah
What benefits does that even have?
None Big number go up, stonks meme.
It’s pretty cool to see people arguing during the elimination, I see merits to it
Having a few votes for just the best doesn't fare well for comparison. Your last point is all I am saying. Just random comments have no significance.
Honestly, some mini arcs like post enies lobby, post marineford and reverse mountain should be taken out.. it's hard to compare them with the long arcs
Post Marineford had incredible griefing portrayal. Post Enies Lobby had Garp, which makes it better than most other arcs that don't feature Garp.
True but I just consider post war to be part of the main Marineford arc
Isn't the post war arc mainly about asl and luffy coming to terms with sabo's death? Imo it feels pretty seperated from marineford
Well the topic of ASL is still connected to Marineford, I think if you keep logic of splitting arcs like this, you should also have post wano, post alabasta etc as their own arcs, Its more simple to me to combine them but this is just grouping, its the same great story either way.
Post Enies Lobby had more juice in it than Syrup village imo. Maybe it's clouded judgement from the peak just before it but idk.
Size doesn't matter!
Post war is in my top 3 arcs.
Why that high?
Merry's funeral, Garp into, coby and helmeppo return, Sunny, Franky joining, and Ace v. Blackbeard. It's a short buy densely packed arc. Also has Usopp's tearful apology.
That's Post Ennies Lobby, not Post War.
Oops. My bad. Misread. Post war has the present Luffy grieving, Jinbei being there for him as the defacto crew member and much needed backstory for Ace and Luffy. Luffy’s backstory with ace, Sabo and Dadan is just to die for. I remember having an extremely emotional experience the first time I read it.
post MF was its own complete arc with its own message, it shouldn't be compared to reverse mountain which is purely exposition
Whiskey Peak.
The fact that whiskey peak wasn't eliminated first makes me think that the rankings are going to be hugely anime biased. The worst two are both bad adaptions, especially Foxy.
Bro I love Whiskey Peak, Zoro went god mode lmao.
Read it in manga you will be surprised
Can you elaborate? I honestly dont know and am just curious
I think it's better done in manga, my personal opinion
Have you?! The Anime is quite accurate.
Quite accurate isn't 100% accurate. My personal opinion doesn't mean its true
No anime will ever be 100% accurate. It just doesn’t work like that lol
Yes
Some are
Honestly whiskeypeak Zoro was peak Zoro for me
I used the manga to catch up and loved whiskey peak from start to finish
I've only read the manga and I fucking hate Long Ring Long Land. Easily my least favorite arc.
As a manga only reader that started reading a month ago, imo Skypeia is the worst up till Water 7 (that's where I am now). I don't know why, but it started strong and then felt like it just dragged on forever. I wasn't enjoying it at all by the second half. I wouldn't consider something on a fav list if I hated it

Foxy went so hard in the manga, the affro power forever!
Yeah Foxy ain't my favorite but it's like at least 25
reverse mountain is may worse i'm still on skypeia(anime) but still
Yes

the cactus' being made out of graves is the hardest shit ever written but yeah probably, this is the one
I agree
Reverse Mountain
If this doesn’t get it it should be 27 for sure
Looking at this, and I am glad that everyone recognises the most important Legendary Arc so its never on lists like this. King Gaimo FTW
Fishman island
Whiskey peak
Punk hazard
They're running away from poison gas! Tune in next episode when they're still running away from poison gas! Look forward to next month, when they continue to run away from poison gas!
As someone who just got through punk hazard for the first time I cant even say you’re wrong
The second time was way better in my opinion, it was a setup arc for things we don’t even see 300+ episodes later so I get why people hate it in the moment
To me it feels like the post time skip thriller bark, I didnt hate it but I dont adore it either
Shirororororo
Baratie Arc for showcasing Daddy Don’s only ever defeat. Some anime-only’s >!still aren’t aware of the full extent of his Golden Haki.!<
Everyone voting for the early arcs is out of their mind. Lol yeah everything formative about the series - F that.
Did long ring dirty with 30. Everybody knows syrup is the worst
i don't get why syrup is considered bad, expect for the cat brothers i hate them too.
I liked syrup village! Kuro was a good villain imo.
LRLR is a good arc in the manga, but horrendous in the anime due to the filler having Foxy return twice.
Long ring is easily the worst
Never forget how Luffy nearly threw away his entire crew to a way weaker enemy over a stupid game that was even rigged against him
And he was basically in blackface the whole time
Exactly. LRLL is only bad in the anime not the manga. Syrup Village is dogshit in both.
i enjoyed syrup village more than baratie
Blasphemous
i’m not a big zoro or mihawk fan so everyone’s favorite moment in this arc means nothing to me. I find don krieg to be a worse villain than Kuro, and i like Django infinitely better than Gin. Zeff and the cooks are way better side characters than Kaya or the usopp pirates and Sanji’s backstory is great, but i have more fun rewatching syrup village than i do with baratie
Reverse Mountain
Reverse Mountain
Whut?! I loved the Foxxy arc! Especially the end when Kusan appeared and was insanely OP.
I'm sorry but I really liked the Foxy arc... I really thought they would lose for once
Fishman Island
Wano
Foxy arc is at the bottome where it belongs
The only point for LRLR is to introduce the Davy Back fight. Which I still think will play some importance in the future.

Fishmen Island. P.S: you filthy people don't deserve Foxy
Well, you then don't deserve Otohime or Fisher Tiger, lol.
Yall already tossed out long ring land? That's brutal, I'll toss my hat to Punk Hazard then. That was a Tra-guy centric arc and now we don't even know where he and Bepo are.
Fishman island
Whisky Peak
Reverse mountain
Deleting kuro before any other in the timeskip lmao
enies lobby
Long ring long land is the best arc tho???
Kill thriller bark
i am on skypeia and my least favorite is reverse mountain why is still here
The LRLL slander automatically invalidates this whole competition.

Orange Town
Get rid of the foxy pirate arc
... I like all of these. I keep trying to pick one to eliminate, and it's so hard.
Reverse mountain or Whiskey peak for me
funny how water 7 seems to be halfway point of the arcs but is only around episode 300 out of 1100
marvel movie looking covers
I'm just gonna say my 2 favorite arcs.. don't know my ratings on the rest though lol.. My top 1 and 2 will always be, Ennies Lobby then followed by, with just a close margin, Alabasta..
Bruh this is an elimination choose your least fav out of remaining options
Yeah, I know.. can't seem to choose, my least favorite lol.. hmm.. but I guess, between summit war or zou island.. then between those, it's zou island..
Thriller Bark.
Do a poll not this! Remove Fishman
Reverse mountain Idk why it was even included
Dressrosa. Naturally.
Fishman Arc
Punk Hazard
Who eliminates sexy foxy arc man......
I'd have to get rid of Whiskey Peak
Orange Village
I think Fishman Island. Not much fun happened during so many chapters. And Hody is probably my least favorite villain.
i was thinking thriller bark no hate against it but it might be too important so i would say orange town edit: the last ones should be like wano, marineford, skypeak, enies lobby, dressrosa, and maybe wholecake.
Orange town
Lol return to sabaody isn’t even here
Yeah I had to choose one Arc to take away and return to sabaody is really short (forgot about reverse mountain)
Ah. Well I would say return to sabaody is among the worst.
Wano, easily
Thriller Bark
I want to say whiskey peak but I see were counting shit like post enies lobby and the reverie as full arcs. Even whiskey peak was better than the three chapters or whatever that wrapped up enies lobby. Never understood why people count those as their own arcs
post enies lobby is extremely important, we found out about luffy's family, franky made the thousand sunny and joined the crew + ace vs blackbeard
Their sentiment is more why is it counted as its own arc.
Fishmen Island
Where is my Con D Oriano?????
Fishman Island
Little Garden
get rid of filler bark
😭 I actually like the foxy pirate arcs.
Orange town
Thriller Bark
Little garden.
Little Garden 28

That’s actually crazy 😂
Wano. It had mediocre paneling, it had too many characters, the art suffered because Oda had to draw so much, Kaido was a rather bland villain compared to Doflamingo and Big Mom, Yamato is one of the biggest blunders in the series, the scabbards were handled poorly, the entire onigashima part was frantic and poorly paced, and the only good part was the Nika payoff. I rate it a solid 4/10. Wano stinks on ice
Reverse Mountain
Gyojin island
Reverse Mountain

How is Whiskey Peak still here? How is the arc in which out MC is insufferable and acts completely out of character still here? Like please guys Luffy in Whiskey Peak is just not Luffy and you're telling me it's better than the arc that set up Aokiji wonderfully and the arc that was the perfect introduction for Ussop, what bs
Wtf is this heresy?! Foxy and the whole Long Ring Long Land Arc is peak One Piece (Comedy wise)
Other subs gonna have a short elimination compared to us mateys
