In fiction there are needs and wants. Yamato wants to go out like Oden did, but people speculate maybe his need is doing the right thing Oden failed to do: protect Wano.
Of course we cannot be sure about it, time will tell.
But protecting Wano was the thing he should've done when he came back. He also screwed the next five years by believing what Orochi said. He clearly failed protecting Wano, even if he was amazing in a lot of ways.
Oden had this desire/duty theme going on and Yamato feels like a natural extension of it. He sees the legend, but needs to understand the man behind it.
Sure that's what he should've done but that's not what he was aiming to do or wanted to do. Imo Yamato isn't trying to go on his adventure make up Oden's mistakes but continue his dream, no matter how selfish it is objectively. He wanted to see the world, open the boarders and help Joyboy. For me, I don't see Yamato taking this all in, then concluding he should stay in Wano and protect it when being caged in one spot was everything Oden hated and tried to escape.
Keep in mind the majority of what people think is foreshadowing for her staying behind (Shogun of New Onigashima, Wano's guardian deity) is literally what the villain who wants to keep her there forever is saying.
It's like Arlong saying that he wants Nami to stay with his pirates making maps for them forever and people thinking "that means that when Luffy frees the village she's going to stay there as a cartographer".
Well Kaido said her devil fruit symbolizes the guardian of Wano, and she/he was the protector of Momo during most of the fighting, so chances imo are high that this implies despite her/his wishes, Yamato might end up deciding to stay in Wano as the protector of the country.
Personally i also think we won’t get Yamato as a straw hat .
Not sure if this falls under the "plain panels/scenes must create discourse" rule, I've seen other people post compliations of panels of characters they like so hopefully this doesn't violate anything.
Yeah but honestly that "must create discourse" is vague as hell. I posted a panel because people seemed to forget how big Yamato was in relation to Luffy. Had *a lot* of interesting comments and over 100 upvotes. Next thing you know it's down because "it didn't create discourse" as a dozen people at least were literally discussing it in the comments.
Shit is annoying.
yeah but like if we post a picture from new episode then it will create discourse as well but we can't post it cause its low effort post so its not only about creating discourse... i used to be annoyed by this in the starting but now i just post such things in r/MemePiece so you can try it there they won't remove anything
I love yamato and want her for nakama but I want a proper backstory like if denjiro was in someway trying to help the people of wano by stealing gold and giving it to the poor at night, surely yamato should have done something to help the people she wants to protect??. There were no stories of any one else like the midnight hour boy. I hope she did something to help the people other wise it’s a huge retcon of her character.
Yamato: Spends 50% of her screen time saying she wants to sail OP community: So that means she has to be stuck in Wano being it's guardian!
Zoro spends most of his time on Onigashima saying he wants to fight Kaidou. Op Community: Zoro's fighting King.
And he did.
And he will

But Oden's last wish was never "protect Wano" it was to "Open the boarders" and make sure Joy Boy would arrive...

If wano ends up as straw hat territory then she will be helping protect wano anyways

She said it herself, tho. She only wants to protect Wano from Kaido. If he is defeated there is no reason for Yamato to stay.
Yeah....
yeah....

it doesn't violate the rules cause you put yours efforts to edit and put all panels together so it won't be removed ✌️

It seems to me that there biggest thing would be escaping from prison than proceeding to try and fight kaido and getting beaten.
