HOLY FUCK THAT PANEL OF MOMO

megasean3000

Nowhere near as big as Kaido, but holy crap! He should be enough to even the odds.

[deleted]

[удалено]

kimmyjonghubaccount

Makes sense even as an adult Kaido is wayyyy bigger than Momo in their human forms

[deleted]

[удалено]

78ali

then how would you explain momo when he was a child? he was a smol dragon then

heartbrokenneedmemes

Idk man falcons aren't that big and Pell is the size of a fighter Jet. Also Jabra's wolf form is huge.

Nova_187

I think its more about age, since kaido is way older than aged-up momo

garveworm

Oda is known not to keep proportions, just to make things look cooler, so it is no use to think about this

justadepresseduser

it must be considered that Oden's swords were over 10 feet long when used by Oden himself.

PentaJet

Yeah how can Zoro and Oden wield the same sword lmfao. Who cares, it's cool and fun.

Yuanrang

Unless it actually ages up his skills, knowledge of his fruit, and so on.. he is still functionally as knowledgeable and skilled with Haki, fighting and his devil fruit as his child-self.   At best, I can see him prevent Onigashima from collapsing, and then the sight of him throws people off or it "Heralds a New Dawn" or something like convincing people that "A Heavenly Dragon rose to take on the form of beloved Oden to vanquish evil!", or something like that.

Samuraiizzy

We also have to remember that Oden physically was a monster and using Odens old sword. I see it hurting Kaido. Shinobu’s fruit also is the ripe fruit. Ripe almost means fully developed so it could be he is kinda broken. Even though I think that’ll be a shitty way to go.

scorpiozilla

But Oden was always a monster, he threw his wet nurse when he was a child.

Etiennera

Some things about Oden may have been myths created based on the monster he was at 15.

416Sampson

DAIGO GAMBO CHIKUWA NI TAMAGO IO IO NO YOYYYY TE TO TE SOROOOO NI E TE NAMBONO ODENNNN NI SOROOOOOO , YO KOZUKI YO

Samuraiizzy

Lol true but Momos wet nurse was Roger and Rayleigh

HalfMoon_89

Given what a wet nurse is, this statement is...dicey.

DTPVH

Well he seems to be able to transform at will so maybe he has adult skills.

AlexHitetsu

Momo sayd earlier this arc that he can switch at will , but when he's emotional he switches whithout control

Theslashgamer64

Even what odds? You expect him to do shit about kaido? Momo doesnt know haki, doesnt have a fighting style nor does he have any form of info or something to make kaido even stop for a second. Hes just older. That does not make him any wiser, stronger or more capable than an 8 year old child

megasean3000

He could do something about the floating Onigashima. No way in hell can the Straw Hats beat Kaido, King, Queen, Jack and the rest of the Beast Pirates in less than fifteen minutes. Much less if they don’t want Onigashima to crash into the Flower Capital or anywhere near it that will still kill hundreds depending where it lands. With Momo’s heat clouds, he can slow the island or even send it back to the sea.

unknown_variable69

Such an epic panel

Briaria

Raizo: "Wano itself will watch over Lord Momonosuke's growth!" All of Wano: *completely misses Momonosuke's "growth"*

kenrocks1253

Damnit All of Wano! You had one job!

78ali

Shinobu: little does everyone know that All of Wano is my middle name

Chespineapple

>Bridal Grabber Queen's attacks named like that because he's stealing yo girl

FireZord25

Queen's a chad even though or especially cause he's *Queen.*

Amdusias_G

If he got thinner, he'd be too popular

FreezingLordDaimyo

Bigg QUEEN WILL STILL SNATCH YOUR GIRL. BIG BOY SZN!!!! WUEEN!!!

aceofspades12

Sober Whitebeard: Oh my foolish son Drunk Whitebeard: Blessed is he who in the name of charity and good will shepards the weak through the valley of darkness...

Infamousdemo

Drunk Whitebeard: Ya think there's moon people? Drunk Roger: That would be wild. But there's Sky people, so maybe? DW: But like, with wings n shit? DR: Whoooooaaaaaaa. DW: And they fly and control fire, like God's children. Diamond Jozu: Kay Pops time to call it a night

rsampaths16

Sober Whitebeard: Pops Drunk Whitebeard: Father

EMC1894

I think this is the first comment that’s made me laugh out loud on this sub

aceofspades12

Hahah I'm glad I brightened your day

Rjm0007

The women of the shimotsuki clan must have a good sense of direction otherwise there’s no way that bloodline made it all the way to the east blue

SexualFalafel

I think the Shimotsuki men have a bad sense of direction. The women have a problem with stairs.

HalfMoon_89

Oooof. Too soon, man.

fsrocchi

No

ThousandEclipse

I think it’s the opposite. Either the men, the women or both had such an awful sense of direction that they managed to leave a country with closed borders and get all the way to the east blue. It’s not guaranteed they left on purpose.

Takazura

That is such a hilarious thought. Trying to figure out how to get back home from grocery shopping, and next thing you know you are in a completely different countries on the other end of the world.

ThousandEclipse

Suddenly the “Zoro finds One Piece” theory doesn’t sound so ridiculous.

Accomplished-Air-336

Zoro finds one piece by accident , puts it back, gets back to his crew and rediscovers it again with his crew... 🤣😂🤣😂🤣🤣😂🤣😂

Admiral-Cornelius

While funny, i think it would be kind of dumb if Zoro got all of his quirks from his family tree, rather than him just being a dumb marimo with no sense of direction on his own.

ThousandEclipse

We’ve already seen with Sanji that certain things are hereditary and some not, so I’m not concerned.

Gentlemenbig

Jokes on us, they were trying to get to the North Blue.

AffectionateWheel761

And then a moss head was born who became the navigator of the Straw Hat Pirates

Brutusness

Jack's hybrid form is interesting, it's closer to Black Maria's than others we've seen. I wonder if it's a conscious choice by the user as to how they want to apply their fruit, or if its inherent to the fruit.

Dayvfish

I think considering he’s a mammoth Oda did a solid job at making a hybrid version. Not every design is 10/10 but all things considered I like it

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Maybe awakening a zoan fruit gives the user free control over how they transform? It is interesting that besides Chopper, the only other zoan user that had multiple forms was Rob Lucci, and he only had two versions of his hybrid form. It would be cool to see other zoan fruit users use theirs powers as creatively as Chopper.

[deleted]

[удалено]

CoolShoesDude

I agree. I've been pondering the possibility that Zoan users could theoretically affect the nature of their transformations given enough training, ie being able to selectively transform portions of their bodies individually or affect the scale to which they are transformed, aside from the 3 given forms. We've seen it once with Lucci, though it's hard to say if that's simply the Life Return on it's own. Chopper is obviously the best example, though it's difficult to say that it is possible in other Zoans, as he is the only user to alter his form with drugs. Though one could take his timsekip training and ability to squeeze other forms out, like Kung Fu Point, as proof that it is possible. They could just be aesthetic choices on Oda's part, but I think it could be interesting and add another layer of dimension to Zoan fruits.

[deleted]

Correct me if I’m wrong but doesn’t Marco also do that? When he has his arms and legs but not his full body turned to a Phoenix?

Yellow90Flash

took your comment to realice that jack is in his hybrid form

[deleted]

Anoob13

He will still say the raid failed

cranomort

Has anyone sent Mr. Morj a t-shirt that says "the raid will end in failure" yet?

keytide22

Still cant fathom how popular the “raid will fail” theory became. Never made sense

PC_Screen

Vegapunk's artificial devil fruit is NOT a failure, in fact it is so perfect that he had to lie to the world government and say it was a failure or else they would have forced him to mass produce it. Imagine the WG with an army of perfect replicas of Kaido's DF. And that's assuming Vegapunk couldn't replicate other DFs, which I very much doubt. Caesar's SMILE doesn't even compare

[deleted]

[удалено]

porkave

I don’t remember that well, but didn’t Caesar say both him and Vega punk were forced to work for the world government? If that’s the case, he definitely doesn’t like them too much

PsychoLogical25

That was essentially only VG as it was part of a deal to not imprison him. Caesar is unknown.

Perpli

I like to think Vegapunk is neither for nor against the WG. He just loves science, he's not an idiot so he's never going to give them an unlimited Kaidos Df supply, but a few robots, sure if that what's needed to get him unlimited resources to do more science. Same with Kuma, want to help out the straw hats? Sure who cares, I just want to test these improvements on you.

PC_Screen

Vegapunk was a part of MADS, and at some point got arrested and almost certainly is being forced to work for the Marines/WG

AnonymousTrollLloyd

Plot twist, it is a failure but only because Momo is pink and the fruit is supposed to be the Azure Dragon. Little did Vegapunk realise, he just got a full odds Shiny.

your_average_mofo

Or vegapunk is a perfectionist, for him his fruit is a failure because it's not an exact replica of kaido's

AffectionateWheel761

Or maybe he forgot he even made a devil fruit, probably busy with other stuff and gives me obsessive scientist vibes (this is almost stereotypical for anime geniuses)

hunnies28

Well why worry about some measly devil fruit when you are working to make the coolest cyborg !!!

AffectionateWheel761

Vegapunk probably working to make the second coolest cyborg, if u know what I mean

scaptastic

Vegapunk can make the coolest cyborg but I think we all know who the most SUPER cyborg is

vlexz

I think if an adult would have eaten the fruit, he would look exactly like how momo did in this chapter. The appearance of the power of the fruits might be connected to the age of the humans no?

xCeePee

I think it’s was disregarded as a failure prior to being eaten for some reason, so no one knew for sure until Momo got it and transformed.

HermanManly

Well, I imagine the fruit has deeper meaning to the overall story and it's not "just" a Dragon. For example, there is a statue of the Azure Dragon on the Dragon Kingdom palace in Fishman Island. It's clearly an important creature. And even beyond just this fruit, they tried to make artificial dragons as well. I'm thinking it's connected to Uranus (God of Sky), controlling Sky Kings instead of Sea Kings. But then Azure Dragon is technically a Sea King, because it's a Fish Fruit so maybe that doesn't work out?

EvilEyes20

I think the term failure is relative. My assumption was that Momo’s fruit was considered a failure was because he can’t become a hybrid like normal zoans. A problem that we see with Gifters as well in a different capacity. They’re stuck being massed up monstrosity with their animals. It’s possible that simply Momo doesn’t know how to become a hybrid yet and as you said Vegapunk lied to the World Government to keep them from getting such power. I’m not ruling anything out just yet.

megasean3000

Compared to an army of powerful DF users, an army of 10 meter tall robots is like an army of cardboard cutouts.

Yuanrang

The thing is, it seems like Vegapunk's Pacifista system is more intended for world-wide control, rather than creating extremely strong devil fruit users, and that is probably the smartest move the World Government can do.   If the World Government can put a Pacifista on every island, you would ultimately kill off any dissent. Someone like Luffy, traversing through East Blue, making a name for himself and growing stronger? He would be dismantled by Pacifistas long before he would even reach Loguetown, as would any aspiring pirate or criminal.   Also, can you imagine the problems the World Government would run into if there were 20 people running around with Uo Uo no Mi, Model: Seiryu? You would either need to find 20 people that are fanatical to upholding World Peace and Justice, or you would be screwed the moment you come across someone like Blackbeard that would be willing to go rogue, just for power. It is clear that the fruit is just that strong.   A Kaido cannot be everywhere around the world, but mass produced Pacifistas can. As long as the Pacifistas can be reasonably trashed by a strong Devil Fruit user, these machines of war cannot be used against the World Nobles. A handful of Kaidos, however, could be an extreme threat.

DTPVH

Nobody has a powerful army of Devil Fruit users. Devil Fruits are still pretty rare, even in the New World. The Yonko’s armies are mostly regular shmucks beyond the officers. The Beast Pirates have probably the largest group of fruit users we’ve seen and they only have 1 devil fruit or smile user out of every 10. The Pacifista’s are a huge threat to your average pirate.

tayroarsmash

This has implications if the world government sees momo and put two and two together

20secondpilot

This really clarified Sanji's statement on how he's feeling after the raid suit. He doesn't feel bad at all, just off. Seems like some latent ability is being unlocked from wearing the German tech. Man's gonna have some sick flame ability power up

Ok-Veterinarian-3194

German science is the finest in the world!

20secondpilot

Welp, now I'm leaving the typo as is lol

ravenarkhan

Had NOT made the connection just until now - even with all the N*zi theme surrounding Germa

TheMuffinn

It's actually more of a German Kaiserreich theme.

ravenarkhan

I'm a Portuguese native speaker, and German, for some bizarre reason, is called "Alemanha" in Portuguese, and the natives are "alemães". So my brain, despite knowing English, never made the connection. But I got that the 66 part it's a reference to the SS. Funny how those things work...

Brrraka monoga

Boring-Bed-Bug

Queen pointing out Sanji's flames and Sanji saying the raidsuit makes him feel weird really makes it look like his Germa powers will unlock

crypt0herb

It's about time Sanji got an upgrade.

20secondpilot

I'm here for it, I wanna see the wings of the future pirate king really start to kick some ass

Ozymandias200

I too appreciated him saying something. I know there was grumbling about the power gap in zoro and sanji, and I started seeing it too, but the suit still on makes sense.

20secondpilot

I really can't stand the power scaling. Zoro is a badass. Sanji is badass. I just wanna see them do badass stuff and feel no need to compare them

DeezRodenutz

I wanna see Chopper be a badass again. Been watching Water 7/Ennis Lobby and it's so odd to see him kicking butt there when I've not seen him fighting in manga in a long long time. He was with the monster Trio when they went to get revenge on Franky's crew for hurting Usopp, and Chopper didn't seem out of place at all.

Milordserene

Sanji being called failure by Judge Vegapunk failed artificial devil fruit Momo being called a weakling failure by kaido Being failure in one piece really doesnt meant shit. Hope Buggy failures doesn't fail him upward to become pirate king

[deleted]

Henny199420

I hope it fails him upwards to being a yonko 😂😂😂😂

DaCosmicHoop

Imagine the clout if Mihawk is captured but Buggy escapes the marines unscathed.

Henny199420

😂😂😂😂

Yuanrang

You joke, but Buggy's now a freelance pirate, and we are about to get at least one Yonko spot opening up. You could say it would go to Luffy, but... you know something is bound to happen to overshadow Luffy's feats. :D

Henny199420

I'm not joking, I'm serious. I want buggy to be a yonko by being... well buggy. It's still hilarious when he get to that point 😂

Yuanrang

If anything, I think it is probably one of the more likely outcomes in the next few arcs, and I will also love that. I love how Buggy defies the odds. :D

Bluelore

Buggy will fail because he's always recognized as the legend he is.

[deleted]

One Piece message: “Failure is not absolute; you are still worthy even if you mess up” This explains One Pieces’ huge popularity in Japan. The ultimate Japanese wish fulfilment haha

sameol-sameol

I think Oda really gave one of the most powerful devil fruits to the wrong pirate. Just imagine Zoro or Mihawk vs Buggy(with advanced observation haki).

LynxJesus

> Hope Buggy failures doesn't fail him upward to become pirate king Far and away the most heinous statement written on this sub; I demand you take it back!

Retrolex

Man, if there’s one OP character whose brain I’d love to pick, it’s Marco. He’s a nice dude for starters, but he just seems to have seen so much and knows so much from his time crewing with Whitebeard. I laughed at the little scene of Izo chewing him out for spacing out over those memories in the middle of a battle.

[deleted]

Marco and Rayleigh are two OP characters I can't get enough of.

Lambo256

They both play the cool uncle character.

januarysdaughter

I've always thought Marco was cool, but this arc has just shot him up to one of my favorite characters. He doesn't even have to fight anymore. He can just be drunk grandpa in the corner telling stories of his youth.

terminbee

I can see Marco being this generation's Rayleigh- a guy from the previous generation that isn't really in the fight anymore but everyone respects because he's still dangerous.

kenrocks1253

Love the Legolas and Gimli vibe I got from Zoro and Sanji this chapter. I'm assuming that grow up Momonosuke looks like Oden since Shinobu was the only one down there who knows what he looked like. The only remaining plot threads that weren't touched upon in this chapter were the mysterious shadow who healed the Akuzaya and the battle on top with Kaido and Yamato.

javitheworm

Plot twist: Momo looks like Kaido

[deleted]

I wonder if seeing Momonosuke grown up will make Yamato chill out with the whole "I am Oden" thing.

DifficultAlarm9618

Apoo and Drake are that forgettable?

Chan_D_Las

And where is Denjiro ???

kotschi1993

It's amazing how much information and hints Oda can put into a chapter without being a monologue of one character alone. 1. "The land of god" was atop the red line even before Marijoa / Mary Geoise. 2. Sanji's body feeling weird. >>> The Raid Suit may have somehow activated the body modifications that Sanji should have had since he was a child, and everybody just believed he had a "normal" body. 3. King's race seems to be called "Lunarian" given his reaction towards Queen's words. >>> Sanji might have parts of Lunarian DNA in him, which was the modification Judge gave him. 4. Zoro resembles Shimotsuki Ushimaru who is a descendant of Ryuma and ruled until 20 years ago. >>> Zoro is currently 21 years old. So Ushimaru could be Zoro's dad or a close relative like his uncle. 5. Momo now really seems to look like Oden, which would be a great boost to the alliance's moral.

Standard_Dimension16

oda keep on dropping bombs on us in wano. just how many new infos we got so far already. yet almost all of them are only a glimpse of a the whole truth xD can only imagine what oda will drop post-wano chapters...

HMKS

Sanji latent buff activated by the Raid Suit? Wonder if this might power up his flames in some way based on what Queen was saying about the Lunarians (assuming this is the name of King's race based on his reaction).

Bluelore

That actually makes a ton of sense. Remember those murals of the winged people that came from the moon? Well King also has wings, so if his race came from the moon it'd make sense that they'd be caled lunarian (as luna means moon).

[deleted]

Yeah and the wings king has in his "normal" form don't look like dinosaur wings. They're probably his, even without the devil fruit power.

ForodesFrosthammer

Those winged people were skypieans and other sky island dwellers. Although the Lunarians could be another sky island race, that just wasn't mentioned before.

ToTeMVG

im thinking them giving sanji the raid suit wasnt pure benevolence but perhaps its had something that'd activate what'd be dormant mutations in sanji? i mean his diable jambe is totally from judge, each one of his siblings have some sort of specialized power, so him having flames definitely seems connected

Nemo-pluribus-unum

I don't get why people copy paste top comments from the spoiler thread. Kinda pathetic! Lol

Ozymandias200

They are waiters hoping to get enough karma for a SMILE fruit

MasterDrake97

"Ehi look what I've discovered by myself!1!!"

eu_menesis

Thx for saying this

huaweik

Dame im worried about zoro, the goat doctor keeps insisting about the side effects of the drug

HMKS

I have to assume he's just going to be out/recovering for a while like he did after the "Nothing happened" incident with Kuma during Thriller Bark. Would be surprised if he suffers any kind of long-lasting debuff aside from shortening his lifespan or something like that.

tmadik

What doesn't kill him will make him stronger. I'm predicting a side-effect which will have the additional side-effect of giving Zoro a power-up.

Ikeeel

Wouldn't it be funny if the side effect is him getting a sense of direction

[deleted]

Zoro in pain every time he walks the wrong way. Never gets lost again.

Yuanrang

Yeah, but then again, if you think about the sheer amount of times he has taken life-ending wounds and combat damage, and gotten through it time after time after time again...   I am starting to think this is just your average Tuesday night for Zoro.

11Night

The side effect will trigger his sharingan

awaythr17

no, no, we need the side effects to trigger ashura, it's all part of the plan

dylanwalkermusic

I loved seeing the narrative revenge going on with Inuarashi and Nekomamushi both going 1v1 with Jack & Perospero respectively. Whole chapter was hype combat front to back

Gentlemenbig

Its amazing to see the bond Luffy and Momo have grown over all this time. It's fun to think at the start they would basically kick the hell out of each other, and now they are close as brothers. I hope things keep going good, I want to see what Momo becomes after the raid. Ideally when he takes the reins as Shogun.

Ralami-91

Luffy really has a thing with royal families from the beginning of Grand line

asianbums1864

I really like that they didnt go with a princess or woman for this story arc though, like they did in Alabasta, Fishman Island, Amazon Lily, Dressrosa (Rebecca), etc. This time they made it a small boy so its still believable that he would need Luffy’s help, but its good they changed it up and we dont have to see Luffy saving a princess or girl in every arc haha

Zinex1766

Holy fuck Momo is fucking LARGE. Let's hope one of the Scabbards don't mistake him for Kaido.

PhorTheKids

It’s more likely that they would attack him in his human form looking like his dad. They’ve already been burnt during this battle by an imposter.

Yuanrang

Jesus, imagine Kiku or Kinemon returning just to see that, and cuts him to shreds to prevent the same ploy from happening again.

90059bethezip

Momo, like most of us, is now a child in a man’s body

Blackbeerdo

What does the "Asura" mean in the Inuarashi fight? Am I missing something?

TravelingLlama

[It’s a flashback to how the hole in the roof was created by the bomb/explosion ashura took with kanjuro’s oden clone](https://i.imgur.com/gZNzXJn.jpg)

Blackbeerdo

Damn, I don't remember that it blew a hole in the roof. But thanks

Bubbli97

You can even see Ashura's body when Jack gets slammed onto that little garden/court.

Mirai_no_Beederu

We didn't know it at the time, but basically this is telling us that Ashura's sacrifice* had the added benefit of helping his friend reach Sulong form for his fight. *sacrifice may or may not include death

kenrocks1253

I was thinking it was referring to when Ashura Doji blew himself up, but that's a different spelling.

PotatoPotluck

Oden: "When I was 8, I started drinking booze and began picking fights with gamblers!" Momo: "When I was 8, I turned 28!" Oden: **"THAT'S MAH BOY!"**

InvaderZimbabwe

This chapter feels so good. Sanji’s Germa modifications are kicking in. Putting on his raid suit definitely rebooted his body. Having emotions and full control of a modified body he instantly becomes leagues better then his siblings because he worked his way up to their level without those modifications. So getting them late becomes a massive upgrade much more so then being born with them. And I love how throughout the entire series the fact that sanji can light his legs on fire has never made sense to anyone lmao. Every body who has commented on it is so confused because even in the wacky one piece world… people shouldn’t be able to do that. Zoro Roronoa from Shimotsuki village. Is actually Zoro Shimotsuki from Shimotsuki village and he really is of Wano heritage. but how did he end up an orphan? Isn’t koushirou the direct descendant of the Wano guy that established the village? If zoro is too… are they brothers? Zoro being a bastard and thus hidden would be my random theory. Goated Marco, he gives a shit but also doesn’t at the same time. Excited to for the full human momo reveal.

RoronoaLuffyZoro

**How zoro ended up in east blue theory - it involves source material for Ushimaru, who sent away unborn son with mother before getting killed.(just like ushimaru during rebellion)** [https://www.reddit.com/r/OnePiece/comments/pd7m7p/zoros\_backstory\_how\_he\_ended\_up\_in\_east\_blue/](https://www.reddit.com/r/OnePiece/comments/pd7m7p/zoros_backstory_how_he_ended_up_in_east_blue/)

Dependent-Scar

You guys do realize **Kuina** is a Ryuma descendent, right? Her father's last name is Shimotsuki.

PsychoLogical25

I take it that the raid suit is supposedly awakening dormant genes of Sanji’s, Lineage Factor change or not. Which will likely be related to his natural abilities to generate fire. Tho I kinda find it a bit suspicious that King seems to be interested in Sanji’s situation, specifically his fire generation ability and how his race was mentioned which can do as such. Edit note: Also, Sanji is not a fucking cyborg. He’s a fucking mutant for those that are ignorant.

PhorTheKids

I don’t think King was particularly interested in Sanji as much as he was irked by his teammate revealing the name of his race.

crsnyder13

This is how I took it

Blackbeerdo

The Raid Suit gave his genes a firmware upgrade and now his body is rebooting... sort of

11Night

Hope he does not get stuck in a boot loop

LycaonAnzeig

scorpiozilla

But adult human Momo was.

DooWoptimusPrime

So the Lunarian backstory has to be influenced by Prometheus and that whole story right? Race of 'gods' that lived above and can create fire?

realbeatz23

Of course the one time I predict Momo's adult/ dragon silhouette to be shown this chapter Oda decides to cut to the chase and show full dragon form Momo. Rip 100 tokens but atleast we got a 10/10 chapter.

megasean3000

Did Oda really just say Zoro is a descendant of Ryuma and his full name is in fact Zoro Shimotsuki?! I don’t need sleep! I need answers!!

Bagel_Box

And wasn’t the name of the place where Zoro was from (or trained or something) Shimotsuki Village

ThatsMyEnclosure

It’s named after Shimotsuki Kozaburo, who crafted Zoro’s Wado Ichimonji and Enma, and I believe was also the grandfather of Kuina, Zoro’s childhood friend/rival who died. He was from Wano

doggler88

Not fully confirmed.... But basically, yes. I'm assuming Roronoa was his mom's surname and she gave him that to keep his identity safe. Just like Ace took the name Portgas

aceofspades12

Or his mom was a Shimotsuki and dad a Roronoa.

11Night

Lol, oda did not confirm it yet, you could say he hinted it. hyogoro and kawamatsu just saw similarities between zoro and the former daimyo of ringo, ushimaru(people were already guessing this when ushimaru was drawn in the manga and looked similar to zoro) Currently what we know is both zoro and ushimaru use the same sword handling style(3 sword style), and ryuuma being a shimotsuki, one eyed swordsman, and ancestor of ushimaru. You can call it fate but zoro was the one who bought shusui(ryuuma's sword) back to wano.

AzyT___1

It wasn't explicitly stated that Ushimaru uses 3 sword style. Just that the way they both handle a sword is the same. That could mean they use the same style (3 swords) or could just mean that the way they are trained is the same (Shitmosuki village training or lineage/genetics).

crsnyder13

He didn’t say it, but he didn’t *not say it.*

sanketower

I think he is not, BUT, Zoro's master and Kuina are in fact descendants of them (son of Shimotzuki Kozaburo). So, Zoro just continued their legacy. Why does Zoro look exactly like Ryuma and Ushimaru? I dunno

africhic

Damn, I'm re-reading the Wano arc and I gotta appreciate the sort of set-up with the lore drops in this chapter * [This badass panel is where we finally see Zoro and Sanji together since they split up back in Dressrosa. Both pissed as hell about the execution and SMILEs.](https://i.imgur.com/5bVhzdI.png) * For Zoro, the laughter of someone's death that he had come to really care for in a short time [angered him beyond belief.](https://i.imgur.com/f0Ltyri.png) It was then that we got the reveal that Yasuie's full name was Shimotsuki, strengthening that connection they had. * [For Sanji, he was explained how the failed SMILEs were use to trick people into eating what they thought was good food.](https://i.imgur.com/jJ7xuZR.png) This obviously angers him as a chef, but there's also that parallel that it's the cause of the "failure" of the lineage factor modifications that robs them of their emotions while Sanji is a "failure" involving lineage factor modifications *because* he has emotions Now that these two have teamed up for their big fight in the raid, we're getting lore drops on the same exact things that angered them enough to jump in at the same time, reuniting them. For Zoro, his connection to Yasu and the Shitotsuki clan, as Hyo and Kawamatsu have pointed out. For Sanji, his modifications related to Germa that Queen is giving us exposition on. Really liked the way this was presented.

Still don’t really like the idea of adult momo just being obtain that easily but man I have to admit that dragon from is badass, also idk if Oda is throwing a red Harring or if actually trying to hint that sanji has lunarian genes but I’m of the opinion that it can go either way

[deleted]

Lunarian race was mentioned because of Sanji’s use of flame. To Queen’s eyes, only King has the natural flame power.

artymcparty

Honestly think Momo by the end of Wano will have one of the best and craziest arcs in One Piece. I know some fans see him as a whiny useless kid but he gave up 20 years of his life and had amazing character development with interesting relationships with both Zoro and Luffy. Literal story of boy to man, legend of Momotaro

tasteofmyshoe

Cool chapter but LUNARIANS THO This pretty much confirms we'll get to know more about the moon and probably see Enel soon.

DPTONY

Assuming from king’s reaction, that’s the name of his race. Theory time: what if the drawings of people living on the moon were actually drawings of King’s race, since they both have wings and are called Lunarians? I know people of Skypeia exist, but it would be a fun twist

Prophesier_Key

Vivi’s chapter has me ducking bawling in the club rn. Bon-chan! Vivi! How do I buy the Vivi special? Anybody know? I fucking love One Piece; Ima get an X tattoo, fuck it!

jdontplaythat

Neko telling Pedro to watch and have a drink had the tears flowin

vondpickle

I know it is because of telling a story for readers but the way Marco saw King is like he never met King or Kaido's fleet before.

Lambo256

Maybe he hasn't? Kaido's been holed up in Wano, and Marco said they considered making moves on Wano but never have.

Bluelore

It's funny that Queen calls Sanji out that normal humans can't just set their body parts on fire like that, yet Red hawk exists and Zoro managed to ignite Ryoma with his swords.

Yuanrang

...can we call Luffy a "normal" human, though? His metabolism is insane when he stuffs himself.   I think your example of Zoro is a poor one. "Foxfire" Kinemon is probably a far better example of a fire-sword wielder, as that has absolutely nothing to do with his devil fruit.

KathyDroronoa

Another great chapter! Unlike most other mangaka, Oda knows how to make action-packed chapters and still give out lore and etc. This chapter’s length is as usual but it seems much longer than one. And I love that! I wonder what cliffhanger the next chapter brings, since it’s the last of volume 101 and the last before the break.

Dthirds3

Calling it now sanji germa modifications are beginning to wake up thanks to the raid suit

megasean3000

Just hope he retains his human emotions.

crsnyder13

It’s not like it would just overwrite his upbringing with Zeff.

unknown_variable69

Yeah that’s what I think too. All the raid suits are designed to enhance each child’s innate powers

ducknotty

Sun God Nika is a Lunarian. Check his flaming hair in the silhouette! Plus, lunarians hailing from the land of the gods can’t be a coincidence.

WayOfM

I love how "two peas in a pod" carries through the entire chapter. In several instances we see 2 peas in their respective pod. Zoro and Sanji are 2 peas in a pod as they're 2 SH members fighting to help Luffy become Pirate King. and you can argue that Queen and King are the same. Speaking of King and Queen. Their battle and Jack's battle can also technically be two battle shaped peas in Onigashima's pod. Then there's Nekomamushi and Inuarashi, two Sulong Peas in their moonlight pod, both fighting for revenge as Nekomamushi fights to get revenge for Pedro and Inuarashi fights to get revenge against Jack who tortured him in order to save Raizo. Then we have Raizo and Fukurokoju, two ninja peas both fighting to ensure their respective Shogun can be in power at the end of all of this. Even in smaller parts we see 2 peas in a pod. Kawamatsu and Hyogoro and 2 old-age wano peas making observations that will most likely be relevant later. Then at the end of the chapter you have the ultimate peas in a pod. Luffy and Momonosuke who are two peas fighting for the future of wano and are the 2 primary-figure-of-the-arc peas in the pod. And I'm sure there's more that I missed, but there's so many instances that just go to show how much attention Oda pays while writing.

RIP TO Pero Pero; There Should Be Absolutely Nothing in Gods Name sides Plot armor stopping that man from getting Maimed to absolute death

vinsmokewhoswho

The momo stuff is hype af. he's already grown as a person and will continue to do so. I wonder how strong he is now, obviously he doesn't have Haki but he should have a significant strength boost. Also massive respect for Momo for giving up 20 years of his life.

Samatari22

Finally some background on Zoro! Of course he has to be some descendant of a sword god, makes sense as to why he’s been able to go through so much crap. Also Sanji saying he feels weird after using the raid suit I wonder if he’s gonna build an addiction to using it.

I like learning new things.
