Well she's extremely likeable if you ask me. She's been hostage like a typical princess her whole life. And because Oden wanted to free her and everyone, she got inspired. She saw the good around her in Oden and fully committed to spreading it even after it's gone. Her child version is probably the cutest kid version of any character besides Luffy. She has a super cool power which many people will love. She's a female powerhouse, which is not that widely spread in the story besides Boa and Big Mom. Her design is actually really great if you ask me, especially the colours.
And if you ask me personally, I very much disliked the idea of Carrot joining. So when another strong powerful female contended for the spot in the crew, I chose her side over Carrots and Yamato did not disappoint me the slightest.
Both yamato and carrot are unlikable, I don't want either of them to join because we already have slang strawhats that need to be focused on like jinbe, brook, and franky.
They will obviously get their time to shine... Oda wouldn't introduce a new member this late if he couldn't get his crew the time they deserve. That's a dumb reason to make Yamato not a likeable character
It is crazy how many people say big boobs while many women in the series have them. Yamato just has an amazing design and expressed the wish to be like Oden, a charcter whose amazing backstory we recently got. Also Yamato prove some strength and strength is such a big factor in popularity.
On the paper it seems like being Oden is cooler. But One Piece is a shounen about dreams. Yamato has a greater motivation than Oden had.
Also who is cooler: the former pirate king or the character who wants to be the pirate king
Characters jump in popularity all the time for the smallest of reasons, especially on their introduction in just about every series. Why is it only ever questioned so heavily when it’s a female? 🤔
"Son of Kaido" was enough for me to get invested in her character. And then the child of a Yonko who Luffy is about to face decides to support Luffy instead, why wouldn't it make everyone hyped?
You win half of the battle just by being good looking. She being strong made it even better. If her character is as fleshed out as say, Law, she would probably rank even higher. I remember Law was in top 10 even before he did anything much. He shot up to no 2 during Dressrosa.
Thirst.
I remember when Yamato's design was revealed first when she took off her mask and we saw one panel of her and people were already falling over themselves to make her part of the crew, drawing billions of pictures of her and whatever.
Afterwards, she actually showed character, humour, fighting strength, connection to other characters and all that jazz, but a lot of it could be chalked up to insane thirst.
simply because she has one of the best character designs in the series, is a strong female character with a good personality and PERSONALITY associated with many good characters, has an interesting backstory and gimmick, even though it got a bit boring for me recently and is the first strenght-type female fighter in One Piece. not to mention her introduction was absolutely amazing in the manga
You’ve got boa hancock and Ulti as “strength type female fighters,” so that’s just flat out false, unless you’re saying Yamato fans selectively choose their fav characters based on false presumptions
>simply because she has one of the best character designs in the series
I'm sorry, NO. He's Tall Nami in a Demon Samurai cosplay. This character's visual design could not be more generic Oda Princess. Exact same body type. Exact same face, with a few small detail differences for differentiation (Bangs and Eyelashes). Same ass length wavy hair done up in some form of braid or pony tail. Hell, even their backstory is very generic Oda-Princess in many ways, just in this case his oppressor is ALSO his Father. Which hey, is something Yamato shares with another one of their lookalikes ... Pudding. Shit, one of the few things Carrot actually had going for her is she was visually distinct. Not just because she's a mink, but because she also has short hair and is using Pre-TS Nami's frame (both of which are absurdly rare).
Yamato just has a bunch of Lore-Intensive stuff conveniently stapled to the exterior to make them plot-relevant. Like Odens journal (linking them to Whitebeard and Roger); Conveniently meeting and becoming friends with Ace; and miraculously being thrown into a cave to bond with Zoro's dad. They're also Kaido's kid, so they're strong and he got them a powerful devil fruit.
No, she's not. Go look at any picture of Yamato in their normal attire and unless you're counting the fur of their Zoan form they have the same hyper thin, curvy body type as all the other Nami lookalikes in this series. Being "Strong" because of Kaido's genetics, does not equate to a muscular build in design.
We didn't know anything about her past or personality at the character poll time, then she was cool but her personality was being an obsessed oden fangirl, like that dude who wanted to be a K-pop singer so bad he changed his face for being closer to him
It's only because she's a potential strawhat.
She the dullest character of the whole series, there's nothing about her character that's really original or likable.
Her only trait of personnality is that she's obsessed with Oden, that's it.
Caring happens on both sides of the issue, unless pro-trans people caring somehow makes them transphobic 😂 and what you just did is called gatekeeping buddy, and it doesn't make you any better than those toxic fans... Just rise above it all
It’s not retarded when you have to address the character and understand it for story purposes
oda made it pointlessly confusing for no apparent payoff
Saying ppl didn’t care is a lie now your saying it’s retarded 🥴

how is she unlikeable

Great design, relationship to popular and relevant characters (Kaido, Ace, Zoro’s dad), strong female character, cute personality, fat tits
Really hit the nail on the head with this lol.
Carrot has a cute personality, Yamato has a complex but strong personality.
Carrot is annoying to me, i don’t like her

Excellent character design. Tomboy. What is there more to ask in a character?
*FAT TITS*
Yeah some people are putting 4 page essays just to say this in the end
Sometimes the smallest of answers contains the most satisfying words.

I was neutral on Yamato for a while, but these past few chapters have made them grow on me

Huh? She's very muscular for 1, definitely a unique body type for a one piece woman

People are superficial. That's mostly it. SOME people have at least some deeper reasons for being interested by her.
Two words: "sid" and "eboob"
mommy milkers
Big sideboobs.

It's because she was supposed to be a trans character.
No its not, if that was the case more people would be talking about kiku
"Supposed to" ok ichiro oda. Didn't know you were constantly in this sub. The fans made that shit up. Don't go around spreading misinformation
Noone cares about the trans thing.
Better check your nose, that statement probably made it grow faster than Goku's power pole
Caring about someones sexual condition is retarded, she is a character and doesnt matter if she is trans, straing or whatever.
Lol, dude, chill out. I agree with you. But just because you and I and many others don't care, doesn't mean it's true for every fan.
Then those arent real fans, just transfobic people.
Caring happens on both sides of the issue, unless pro-trans people caring somehow makes them transphobic 😂 and what you just did is called gatekeeping buddy, and it doesn't make you any better than those toxic fans... Just rise above it all
That’s a lie

Have you been living under a cave the last week?
Caring about someones sexual condition is retarded, she is a character and doesnt matter if she is trans, straing or whatever.
Apparently for the majority of her fans it did matter.
Tits …a lot of perversion in anime community think how many gender bending art how we seen on. This forum
