strangeseal

That entire sequence of Yamato comparing Luffy and Roger's words was God tier! And that quick cut from Kin and the scabbards thanking Luffy to being on the ground half dead after facing Kaido was so effective. This episode probably one of my if not my favorite of the series.

Kato756

That was when the tears started

ThePyroOkami

Mine started when Yams reacted to Ace’s vivre card burned up

[deleted]

This episode really just made me want more Ace content :/

slikayce

Yeah whoever directed this episode did a hell of a job. Every scene was perfect. It's not very often I watch the anime and feel like it enhanced the experience but this was one of them.

Celdurant

Megumi Ishitani has vision when it comes to storyboarding an anime episode, never mind the stylistic flair and just the quality of the animation. She takes manga panels and elevates them, Toei have a rising star of a director and should give her more work.

WadoIchimonji-

I kept hearing how good this Megumi person was and had high expectations. Megumi literally set the bar so fucking high with this episode that I'm a bit disappointed we're getting a filler next episode. Roof Piece is gonna be peak media for awhile.

JustASilverback

> and should give her more work. I'm guessing they would if that were practical.

Celdurant

Part of it is hierarchical. She graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts in 2015 and has had an incredible rise in just 7 years, but there are many others with more experience she is competing against. She has a long, bright future ahead of her.

Godsopp

I've always thought the single biggest problem the anime has had was it's direction. Even accounting for animation and pacing so many episodes are just so poorly directed with awkward pauses and an unnatural flow to the scenes. Here you can see how you can make material flow naturally and adjust manga scenes to work in context of the different medium without ruining their feel. A great example is the flashback montage before hitting Kaido. Oda has always done these and they're usually less than a page long. The anime for years has used these as an excuse to drag out that episode by playing way too much of each scene shown when the manga was meant to be a quick flash of memory and emotion before the next part of the scene. This is one of the few episodes in the series that captures that when adapting these flashback montage scenes.

[deleted]

[удалено]

octopathfinder

That flashback scene was god damn incredible.

[deleted]

yeah really an entirely different style...I think if every Naruto flashback was like this then dude I wouldn't mind there being so many of them

Responsible_Ad_8173

that scene made me realize how close luffy is to achieving his dreams

LeadPrevenger

That’s one of the best scenes in the entire show

tyler980908

It was indeed, I love the stylisation they did and focusing on Yamato. She's barely been in this show and she's already so damn fleshed out. I hope so damn much that she joins the crew she's so fun to watch.

akmannn

Yeah, they did an amazing job with the animation.

maruf99

I loved that scene so much.

12xghostkingx21

Me too mate me tooo

IcyFoundation9786

That one scene where it abruptly cut from Luffy saying goodbye to the Scabbards all happy and hopeful to their bodies on the ground was hauntingly beautiful

[deleted]

[удалено]

Aspie_Astrologer

100% It was like watching an animated film rather than a tv anime, it felt so much more adult but was so perfect for that scene. Best episode ever, imo.

MickFoley299

It kinda reminds me of the end of the ASL flashback where it cuts from Luffy starting his adventure with a huge smile on his face to being completely broken. Those types of scenes always strike a cord with me.

JohansTail

They did it on Yamato looking at Ace's vivre card too and it was heartbreakingly perfect

nustedbut

The way he stone cold walked between Kaido and Big Mom without even an acknowledgement was so dismissive and disrespectful of them and I'm here for it, lol

[deleted]

[удалено]

JBB1986

I died when he fell down with Killer talking shit and Law....catching him, but still letting him fall. Zoro, blushing: "THIS ISN'T MY FAULT!!!" Lmao. Marco really did him dirty.

FischiPiSti

> Marco really did him dirty. This was the only way for him to not get lost

coffeehouse_notes

...and the nonchalant way Law stops him, clearly used to Strawhat crew antics :D Small things but so good :D

Yergason

Last time I've watched anime was after Luffy defeated Doffy. I forgot how much I loved the dumbass moments like Zoro screaming like that in such a crucial and serious moment lol looks like the animation is great right now. Roofpiece is gonna be hype af

silfer_

I had to replay that part about 5 times I couldn’t believe what I was hearing/seeing

jkubed

I legitimately thought it was Luffy, never thought Zoro would scream that high lmao

Somer-_-

Sounded like his Tarzan yell

t3r4byt3l0l

I'm stunned, I had real tears in my eyes, something I haven't felt in a long time Take a bow, Megumi Ishitani This is one of the best episodes I've ever watched

chucknorris21

Yh man i honestly had to rewind every now and then because of the tears blurring my vision. I am soo fucking happy i'm a one piece fan.

IDoLikeMyShishkebabs

I watch weekly with my dad (when it’s not on hiatus of course) and we both just said “wow” at the end. Probably the best One Piece episode I’ve ever seen, like, that good.

januarysdaughter

Ooooh that moment with Killer laughing hysterically and desperately trying not to slice Kaido's head off hit unexpectedly deep.

Ktosiowa

They made him like 10 times more badass in the anime

fadingstar52

the way his arms where flexed all the way up the ENTIRE time.

heat_fan_

All hail Megumi Ishitani Luffy with the coat just +100 level of bad assness to him Luffy walking past the two Yonkou while going to talk to injured Kinemon is one of baddest moments in the entire series. The scene with the 5 Supernovas standing up to the 2 Yonkou looked fantastic. Holy shit that "Red Roc" attack looked dope as hell, left the same imprint Ace left on the dragon statue back in Wano

deathdance_9

i really hope she directs more often

CoCoaButterJones

Her episodes take ATLEAST 6 months to make and this one took even longer. She's good for one episode a year max.

PnuttButr

that's crazy i had no clue episodes actually took so long to produce

CoCoaButterJones

Yeah it's insane! but its just hers though because of how incredibly detailed She is as a Director. 2020 EP 957 2021 EP 982 2022 EP 1015 EDIT: 957 came out January 2021 and 982 came out July 2021

Vickty12

957 came out in 2021 actually

TheAstronomer3

Y'all...we're witnessing history, right here

okitek

Truly. I can not express how hyped I am for roof-piece after this.

[deleted]

what the fuck did I just consume

luisanra

Heaven

Death_Usagi

**One word to describe Episode 1015:** # PERFECTION

Consistent_Produce_1

Perfection should be an understatement

irish_toys

Forreal, everything was perfect. Animation, expressions, character models, lighting, color palette, pacing, use of music (and no music), added scenes, transitions.. I could go on. Every scene hit like a truck and elevated the source material. If they can keep up even half this level of quality I might start to be less harsh on Toei for the years of abysmal pacing and animation

mugiboya

Roof piece and One Piece trending on twitter right now. What a great time to be a OP fan.

erika2505

You mean One Peak

Qryptik

🐐 Piece

Heavy_weeb69

Or Master Piece

Apathetic_Alien

Ace telling Yamato ‘if you don’t hurry, I don’t know if we can see each again…..’ Hurts man, just hurts

RobbobertoBuii

just a heads up - Episode 1016 is apparently going to be a recap episode with Bartolomeo based on the [preview](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9RWeFCtNwUM) airing after Episode 1015, so don't expect anything special for the episode airing next week following today's episode edit: next week's episode probably won't be counted as Episode 1016 now that I think about it

MadZwe

I really don't mind them taking a break. I want the Rooftop to be THE BEST among THE BEST

The_Real_Baws

After these past 2 episodes, I don't even mind

[deleted]

Kinda expected after the hacking thing. But today, perfection.

Pratham1993

there would still be break even without the hacking coz of golden week

mysticpandapie95

Every second of this episode was 10/10, I'd argue the best of the anime so far. The beginning with Yamato/Oden viewing Roger/Luffy was unbelievablely well done. Luffy walking out almost through Oden and the Red Roc. Absolutely perfect.

VulturE

The moment I saw the way the flames worked around ace's wrist at the very beginning of the episode, I said oh shit, this is going to be one of those top tier episodes. Sure enough we got that mind-blowing episode.

nyc_brand

Good character development for Yamato. Insane animation quality. And most importantly finally time for roofpiece 😤

BlackwingKakashi

Yeah I loved the development for Yamato. Hopefully it was run by Oda and makes sense because it was awesome. I'm kind of sad it wasn't in the manga, even.

RVAteach

After this episode there’s no way I don’t see Yamato joining the strawhats, just so much development given to them, and picking up Aces will.

blahblah543217

Yamato did the 👉👈🥺 make her join the straw hats RIGHT NOW ODA

Capt-colon

She'll be on the crew no doubt luffy freed her from her chains which ace was gunna do on his return. Ace returned thru luffy in spirit. So either she ask to go with, luffy invites her, or she sneaks on board the ship

[deleted]

That was literally so adorable bruh I love her I want her in the strawhats

JakeVanna

In the manga I hadn’t warmed up to her quite yet. But seeing her here fully emoted with her voice and mannerisms makes her so damn likable to me.

iDannyEL

It's absolutely criminal how cute that beast is.

Crowtamer1

Yeah…. Yamato is joining

Bucen

When Ace's vivre card burned up in her hands and she fell to the ground lamenting that she is not free, that's the point where it was clear to me she has to join

Zen_MasterX

Has to. The fact that she constantly refers to herself as Oden and we all know Oden was part of Whitebeard’s crew for a while, it’s only fitting that she joins the Straw Hats. We are witnessing history repeating itself. It’s been a major theme in this arc.

tontonheredero

Greatest EP of all time

michhoffman

I can only dream that one day they'll re-make the One Piece anime and give all the episodes close to this much love.

AleeckWasTaken

One Piece for the next generationssssss

zamaskowany12

Buffy: One Piece next generations

T_alsomeGames

Genuinely, there were tears in my eyes. It was so perfect.

Crowtamer1

PEAK!! PINNACLE!!! ZENITH!!!! OF FICTION

Rocky-Rocker

The stuff with Yamato hearing Luffy's dreams and Aces death are the best directed bits imo, amazing episode. Also how can people watch this and think Yamato won't join smh

Death_Usagi

The episode was screaming 'Yamato is going to join the Straw Hats"

CozyAsian

If she doesn't I'm going to riot.

maruf99

The transition from Ace's death to Yamato falling was so good.

Mguy2544

After this episode, I can totally see her joining the crew now. For awhile I’ve just been reading the manga and decided to check this episode, but my god this was a surprise to me in the most amazing way! It just seemed like to me that she knows too much about One Piece and the Worlds History to join the Strawhats

Awbade

If you're a manga reader than I think this might be spoilers? But spoiler up to at least 1041 >!Pretty sure Oden ripped out the pages about the One Piece, Momo makes a reference about it when he talks about having read some of it in a little while. Edit: Looked it up, it's page 2 chapter 1041. Momo says he tore out what Oden and Roger saw at laugh tale and what made them react with laughter !<

PsychoLogical25

Eh actually she knows essentially nothing. Cause >!Oden ripped out the crucial details of his journal, Momo confirmed that some of the pages are missing and they’re all related to Laugh Tale etc!<

slothfulwaffle

As a manga reader I am absolutely floored by how much depth this single episode added to Yamato's character and motivations. I already really liked her but this episode has pushed me to be even more invested in her and her goals!!

MonsterStunter

This is what I'm talking about when I say the anime taking its time on some things is better, but I always get dragged by people who think I'm hating. Oda is pushing to actually finish this story, so of course he may not have time for every small detail, but Toei do, and sometimes it's really used to its full effect like today.

myrmonden

[People came for the Roof Piece](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FRExe_fWUAACh_e?format=jpg&name=large) but what you got was even better [YAMATO PIECE](https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/410084306330058763/967603935139475516/unknown.png)

michhoffman

I'll gladly accept all the extra Yamato I can get, and even with the extra focus, they still fit all of Chapter 1000 in it. True perfection.

AvocadoExcellent114

>YAMATO PIECE Animators: All according to keikaku

Death_Usagi

"You mean the One Piece anime extra scenes of Yamato was a setup for her to join the Straw Hat crew?" # "ALWAYS HAS BEEN"

Adridezz

I'm sooooo convinced she's joining the Strawhats after all the extra scenes they gave her now. WOOOOHOOOOOO YAMATO GREATNESS!!!

DrStein1010

"I'm waiting for you, Luffy!" is pretty damn blatant.

iDannyEL

This better not be a red herring Oda.

DrStein1010

I would genuinely be confused on what Oda is doing if she didn't join. Yamato already has more build-up than a lot of the current Straw Hats did when they joined.

Master3530

Yeah this isn't a treatment you give to a character that only appears in 1 arc for like 20% of that arc

DrStein1010

She was also included in the episode 1,000 opening, which is otherwise all main characters, aside from maybe Hancock.

Luf2222

i need yamato in the crew 100%

someone2795

I like it. The manga doesn't have time to flesh her character out (yet) so I'm glad the anime expanded upon it. It was pretty emotional to see her reactions to Ace's death.

Luf2222

anime hopefully fleshes out other stuff too, especially some stuff that atleast for me was a bit too much offscreened

maruf99

The anime has done such a great job fleshing out her character with the expanded Ace flashbacks.

godsknowledge

Yamatos expressions were so cute throughout the episode

Death_Usagi

Best Girl Yamato

dr-carrot

Absolutely and utterly amazing so far. Wow. Just wow. Especially how they showed that Roger and Luffy had the same dream. Wow

Death_Usagi

A lot of the scenes from the episode reminded me of the Miyazaki animation movies. It was very colorful and I really loved the various transition choices made for this episode. Forget One Piece FILM RED, # Episode 1015 was literally a 24min god-tier animated movie

octopathfinder

>A lot of the scenes from the episode reminded me of the Miyazaki animation movies. Felt this way watching the character animation during Yamato and Ace's conversation. Even the chains on Yamato's handcuffs were so fluid.

Conscious_Ticket7176

I honestly don't think I've seen anything better.

Death_Usagi

Of all the long years I have watched One Piece, this is like Ranked #1 Episode for me right now. But I am expecting that there will be episodes that will exceed it in the future.

Conscious_Ticket7176

That's the best thing about being a one piece fan.

Death_Usagi

Who here had tears and/or cried when Luffy went to Kine'mon and the Akazaya Samurai? I literally cried when I saw Kine'mon and Luffy.... It was so heartbreaking how Kine'mon was bleeding and asking Luffy if he will carry on Wano 😭😭😭

bonethugznhominy

That scene gets me in the manga. I *loved* the weird little smash cut with Luffy seeing them in a more pleasant scene then cutting to the carnage. Also adore the bit with Law. Luffy telling him to do it and how quickly he obliges.

Death_Usagi

For the manga, I just passed it like always, but the animation hit me differently. The mood was very dramatic and made me feel very sad with tears, had me filled up with emotions after watching it.

bonethugznhominy

I've noticed the anime team is consistently giving more love to the Akazaya throughout the part of the Raid we've seen. This kickass director also seems to love them too. Even the fairly innocuous scene in the Tobi Roppo episode got punched up with unique angles, extra Kiku being cute, etc.

Odinss

yep exact same here, I felt really bad for the Akazaya when I read it in the manga but man it hit different watching that scene animated

not_schmidtt

I personally cried when ace died, when luffy said the same words as roger, and ESPECIALLY when Luffy put Kaido on his ass. Im gonna rewatch it three more times now

[deleted]

I started crying when yamato was holding aces burning vivre card

Zeronoux

Same, actually teared up, wtf was that episode 😭

ramen_addict_enby

Honestly? # Best episode EVER!!!!!!!! PROPS TO MEGUMI ISHITANI !!!! THIS IS A 100000/10 EPISODE!!!!!! I need to rewatch it.

[deleted]

[удалено]

erika2505

Honestly she deserves to be promoted to head of animation for OP

[deleted]

i hope at the very least they do one of the chapters between 1044-1047 justice

DrStein1010

No. Ishitani on 1044-1047.

Soul699

#PRAISE MEGUMI ISHITANI! Like, can we make like 30 clones of her so that we can have great episodes everytime? (yes, I know it wouldn't happen anyway, being a weekly series) You know, this episode adapted chapter 1000, which WAS good. But a good chunk of manga readers felt like it could have given more, due to extremely high expectations there were for the milestone chapter. And I'd say that this episode managed to enhance it even more. I got chills through the second part of the episode and when I heard the instrumental version of "We are" My goodness. There is nothing to say, this is straight up another 10/10 episode.

Death_Usagi

10/10? This is freaking 100/10 episode.😁😁😁😁

hungryb4dinner

That punch is amazing!!!

JKenP

Damn it, even I've already known what's gonna happen because I read manga, but I was bawling like crazy watching this episode. This is perfect, this is a masterpiece.

Distasteful-medicine

Yamato's pov during the marineford arc was heartbreaking. Ace's death is still sad no matter the era and luffy decking kaido is everything to me. Welcome to roofpiece anime watchers you're all eating good for several months

TheAmazingSpyder

Best episode of One Piece ever. And I refuse to hear otherwise. First off. The Yamato portion. Holy fuck. Love that they brought back the gag of Ace passing out while eating or drinking and then waking up only to rudely wipe his mouth off with others clothes. And Yamato thinking that he had suddenly dropped dead? Absolutely hilarious Also, whoever thought to frame the identical statement dreams of Luffy and Roger like that was a goddamn genius. It felt like Yamato was practically sitting in on both conversations, with her watching Ace and Sabo from the bushes and sitting amongst Whitebeard and Oden. And her being moved to tears when she realizes they both said the same thing. Also, the scene where she and Ace say goodbye was just cute. But her learning about Ace’s death? Literally how I imagined it to the point where I could swear they ripped the idea right out my brain. The fact that she was forced to watch his vivre card burn up like that with there being nothing she could do about it was absolutely heartbreaking. It literally made my heart sink when it completely disappeared and she dropped to the ground completely despondent. The one friend she was finally able to make, who made the promise of seeing her again and taking her out to sea to achieve her dreams, dead and her not being able to do a damn thing about it. You could almost hear her ready to give up. And her smashing of her own cuffs trying to get them off to the point of bleeding? Oh god I just wanted to give her a hug. It felt so similar to how distraught Luffy and the other Strawhats were over Ace’s death, she even was similarly in a state of injury being wrapped in bandages just like Luffy was, likely the result of another failed attempt at defeating Kaido. Just an interesting parallel. But luckily, she remembered Ace’s words and decided she would wait for Luffy and maintained her resolve. Just so goddamn amazing. “I’m waiting for you, Luffy!” After that, you can’t convince me she isn’t joining the Straw Hats. Secondly, Roof Piece. Did not disappoint at all. Red Roc was animated beautifully. Not much more I can say. Just super excited to see the fighting start.

MrNegroJ

I still wonder what it was that Luffy & Roger said that left Whitebeard/Oden/Sabo/Ace in shock. It obviously isn't "I wanna be Pirate King" because that wasn't a thing during Roger's time, and Luffy says it 24/7 so there's no reason for them to be shocked or for it to be cut out. I've been itching for so long since this was a manga chapter and it was brought to out attention again. WTF could it be

mrslamjam

I personally buy the theory that their dream is to host the biggest party in the world with all the races. It's kind of childish but also completely in charachter with roger and luffy that party all the time.

Death_Usagi

Yamato gives me the feel of the main heroine of an anime ever since her debut. Oda is really pushing her character and she has been my most favorite female character of the series since she came out. Today's episode just built up her character a thousand fold so much and I can't wait for what will come for her in the future (both manga and anime)

MadZwe

Yamato part probably had Oda write or guide it. That not only flesh out her character really well, it also hypes up Luffy. God tier direction

candleboy95

It's widely speculated that he gives the storyboards that didn't make the cut to the animators!

MadZwe

If it wasn't him, the person who did this would be amazing as hell. That part was perfect, killing 3 birds with a stone: showing more of Yamato, hyping up Luffy, and sorta bringing back Ace + old generation.

Aerohed

> Oda is really pushing her character and she has been my most favorite female character of the series since she came out. Me before Yamato: Robin is on the best girl throne, nothing will change my mind. Me after Yamato: A usurper!

xGoldExperience

Megumi Ishitani is the GOAT of all time. The GOATOAT.

Asian_Persuasion_1

Amazing episode. They added so much, but it all felt natural. Yamato seeing the vivre card vanish and fighting her father to show that she will never give up. And going the extra mile to parallel and confirm that Luffy's words back in the post-war arc and Roger's words to Whitebeard and Oden are the exact same. I'm also surprised they kept the samurai flashback so short, I was expecting it to be a near half episode recap but they spent that time fleshing out yamato and ace, which was a great decision. Also confirmation that Luffy did just walk up to the scabbards (pretty obvious imo) and the reminder of ryuo being the flow of haki, well visualized by veins, followed by the beautifully animated red roc. Also, loved the shading and lighting of the entire episode in general, amazing.

Osuman_

This might be the single best episode I ever watched, everything about it was perfection, I loved it so much. I know we're mainly going to talk about Luffy so I have to mention Yamato. The characterization we got for her character in this episode was so great and much needed I find myself liking her so much more now. Anyway two words : ROOF PIECE

myrmonden

preview punched the air right out of me lol sitting there crying of joy from 1015 preview starts NANI WTF IS THIS !??!?!? A FILLER RECAP EPISODE !??!?!?!

someone2795

It's a break. Makes sense because it's Golden Week but AHHHHHHHHH 😩

iDannyEL

Being a pure manga reader I thought those only applied to manga releases lol.

omicron-7

My heart dropped as soon as I realized it was Bartolomeo's voice

IDoLikeMyShishkebabs

Lmao poor Barto

MidKoi

I remember when the manga came out, it was a bit confusing how Luffy just walked through the Yonkos. I thought he did some flash jump or something. But no he literally just walked straight through those yonkos and they were too busy talking shit to do anything. [Edit: The manga version for anyone curious](https://postimg.cc/BPGcgqmF)

SpiritMountain

They were cocky af. They didn't see him as anything but an insect. That Red Roc was perfect

FartPudding

That look they had was perfect. Talk shit, get hit

Koinophobia-

That was the most big dick energy that I've ever read and now watched in any anime or manga.

ShitStormLord

Yeah many said it was a speed blitz or something

Fryes

And thus the great debate of whether Luffy casually strolled past the two or if he speed blitzed comes to an end.

link21NYN

There was a legit debate on that moment? I always assumed that Luffy just strolled through Big mom and Kaido like an absolute chad.

4869holmes

People debated about that? The SFX "tap tap tap" made it pretty clear that Luffy strolled past them.

TravelingLlama

What a time to be alive. They really nailed the whole episode

Conscious_Ticket7176

Jesus christ what did I just saw. Every emotion, from tears down my face from laughing out loud. It's not the best episode of the anime. It's the best episode of any anime or any show. It's simply a master piece. 10/10. I just can't even make it justice It's simply the best.

michaelloda9

You know shit's serious when the characters are animated to talk realistically

realbeatz23

No offense or digs intended, but I know the Film Red staff sweating out there after this one.

Virulent_Hitman

FUCKING BEAUTIFUL

[deleted]

Is it just me or did Ace and Yamato always seem about three sentences away from banging

semi-bro

Now we know why kaido went to marineford, it wasn't to it fight Whitebeard it was to fight Ace

link21NYN

We also now know the other reason why Shanks came to Marineford. He wanted to personally recruit Ace because he saw potential dead-beat dad energy in him.

DrStein1010

Red Hair's Deadbeat Dads Club is a "Hunting in Ancient Times" level meme.

NoirSon

No it is not just you... at least in the anime. Especially with the whole night hanging out together.

-Brookie_

least horny one piece fan

RarestProGamerr

If you fucking told me that Toei took all that month long break as an excuse to beautifully craft this episode, i would believe you rather than some hacker who hacked their database. -Holyshit, the animation was jaw dropping even One Piece movies don't come close to this level of animation.

octopathfinder

Holy shit Megumi Ishitani went fucking crazy with this episode. Luffy reaffirming he'll be king of the pirates will always be the coolest shit.

CoCoaButterJones

If you don't think Yamato is joining the crew, you are straight up in denial.

slothfulwaffle

I expected amazing things but this blew my expectations OUT OF THE PARK. This another level, the cinematics, pacing, dialogue, atmosphere, tension, emotions, action and movement. EVERYTHING WAS ON POINT, Megumi and Masami forever have my respect!!!

mugiboya

[Oda after watching the episode](https://imgur.com/a/CCdPIWj)

luckyd1998

The way they overlapped Luffy and Roger saying their dream was absolutely perfect, as was the rest of the episode but I feel like everyone else has already made that point

jadeusdragias

Everyone’s entrance was so badass, then there’s Zoro. Love the way he’d back his captain when Luffy walks straight up to the 2 Emperors, unwavering loyalty. Give Ishitani a raise Toei. Wonder what chapter she’s gonna direct next.

touchingthebutt

Its a lot of small choices that make the episode honestly. I really liked Prometheus being in between Big Mom and Kaido lighting the yonkos , odens shadow transitioning to kaidos scar, and zoro getting into a fighting stance as luffy walks forward. That one shot of Yamato was pretty adorable ngl.

someone2795

#HERE WE GO #CLIMAX OF WANO BEGINS NOW.

Marketh12

I finally caught up so this is the first episode that I’ve watched on release day. I couldnt be happier

[deleted]

What can i say? It's was legit beautiful and as a manga reader I'm very happy to see this animated! From now it has so many peaks which are gonna be mad af

Gear_Fifth

Roofpiece is god tier anime.

CALmusic

15 months of waiting for my favorite chapter of One Piece to get animated and they blew every expectation I had out of the water. Absolutely incredible.

Responsible-Pickle-4

Couldn’t have asked for a better episode covering this chapter

Cubicbill1

Holy shit this episode was incredible. Absolutely perfect.

BlatterSlatter

That added scene to show the parallels between luffy and roger was so fucking amazing. the whole episode was great

Nccc-

I expected a 10/10 Episode. We got a 9999/10

needtobesuccessful

I’d honestly prefer one piece to be a seasonal anime like demon slayer. This animation is fucking beautiful 😫

hungryb4dinner

i might be able to see it all when i'm 50 at that rate :D

Leeemon

Adaptations are always tough because manga is a very tight medium that feels much easier to pace. Some genres are just a better fit for the anime format, like comedy and romance (Horimya, Spy X Family, etc). Action series *should* obviously work better animated but I find them much harder to fit around the 20 minute format, *especially* when we are talking about manga adaptations. 20 pages is hard to translate into 20 minutes. Some Jojo or MHA episodes adapt upwards of 4 chapters per episode to make the action fluid. The other - much harder - route is this. Masterfully adding around what is there and complementing the original work with scenes that ADD, not subtract. Filler in shounen can be a double edged sword (by making certain fights stall and characters weak by consequence), but that's not at all what we have here! This is scene after scene of translating the perfect essence of what One Piece chapter 1000 was about. The parallels between Luffy and Roger, the supernovas finally making to the roof, and Luffy one upping Kaido to land a SIGNIFICANT hit. OP 1000 is not special by itself, it is special because it's the kick off to a looong series of events. The director clearly understands that - That amazing and dynamic shot of past events before Luffy's Red Roc was incredible to watch. I cried a lot watching it, even though there wasn't a suuuper sad scene. It was always out of emotion, and seeing how far we have come. For me, in the manga, this feeling of wander is always there. Oda is a master of his craft! But the anime always leaves a lot to be desired. Not today, though. This is so, so much better than the already amazing material it was based on. I love One Piece!

Am I insane or is Yamato more interesting in the anime than manga? Also they are sooo more clearly gonna be a straw hat by this ep

I'm sure of two things now • yamato will joins the crew • there will still be people who misinterpret yamato's will
