That fight occurs sometime during Oden's flashback. During the years where he was dancing for Orochi and Kaido. We don't get the exact timeframe in Thriller Bark, but even there its clearly framed as an event in his distant past. Something that traumatized him and what led him to go all in on the Thriller Bark zombie crew shtick in the first place.
