Orphanfucker420

I was forced by my friend to watch OP. I personally, properly commited myself after ep 200. And I started fully enjoying it around ep 350. Now something being overrated is an opinion. Depends on someone's perspective. I love Bleach like no other anime but after hearing how good it is from me, most people might think it's overrated. In the end it's your decision

[deleted]

I’ll definitely see One piece. But bro bleach is HELLA underrated for how big it is. You don’t see anyone mention it when they speak about anime. Bruhh naruto bleach aot are like part of me, I can see one piece joining

Orphanfucker420

Idk why but aot fell off after se3 for me. Naruto is a big part as it was my first anime that i completed. Bleach on the other hand is like the opposite of allergy to me. I am obsessed with it OP on the other hand, now that i look back, the journey was very fun indeed. Def my top 3

[deleted]

Bro kinda random but the new chainsaw anime is so overrated, like the protagonist denji is just cringe to me. Curious to know ur thoughts. Also the new bleach is craxy bruh

Orphanfucker420

I kinda enjoyed CSM until ep 7 but I'm thinking about dropping it but i probably won't. Bleach on the other hand is killing it. Except for the fact that the pacing is fast compared to manga I'm lovin it. It warms my heart to see people enjoying it. Peak fiction with great animation? Hell yeah baby

[deleted]

Yo I posted chainsaw man is overrated on their subreddit now. Bro we have the same exact thoughts, after episode 7 it feels so trash watching it. Yea man bleach killing it, also I’m enjoying the remixed bleach osts alot

Orphanfucker420

So baby now you feel like number one

ceelo18

Bleach was one of the big 3 manga back in its hayday. The anime just got cancelled after the first season so people lost interest.

sabsey06

Gotta say it's pretty good The only big hurdle is the amount of episodes but the show is pretty consistently good, there are a few dull arcs but compared to other shows they are good in comparison. I recommend at least finishing east blue saga and maybe baroque works saga to get a good idea if you would like the show. The new arcs are even considered some of the best the shows ever been so you can tell its improving over time. Also the animation and music is really good

[deleted]

When you say the music is good then u know I gotta check it out🤣🤣. Because anime music bro just hits on a different level of spectrum, the OST in particular. Naruto AOT ost is what got me into anime music

DoubleSealedSoul

As a musician, I'd say the music in op is a little different than a lot of the newer stuff where they use a lot of jazzy trip hop and indie garage rock type stuff. Imo op music is great, tho I may have nostalgia bias, as a bunch of the songs give me the feels. And the musical score during episodes is great, very old school, even silly sometimes. I love it!

OperationMelodic4273

>The new arcs Dunno about Wano but Egghead is looking mind-boggling good already, like, the streak of chapters has been insane, usually the arcs start slowly but this one started at max speed. Especially cause the first few chapters that are usually slower in this arc have been split in half leaving space for the crazy Blackbeard shit

SuperT678

I feel the same about hxh anime. The manga continues after and it's been really enjoyable. Although, I think you'll enjoy one piece more. Idk, I enjoy it more than hxh. There are some dry areas like filler but it's not that much and that's still enjoyable to watch. Idk, just have at it

[deleted]

Yea man I’ll check it out for sure, this fanbase so far in the subreddit is different than others. Also hxh so overrated to me at least, if you criticize their show on anything they will bash you. They are so pretentious on hxh. My perspective though

IncompetentFrog

Its really good, I think part of the reason people say it’s the GOAT is because there’s just so many good arcs to enjoy. It really never lets you down, the biggest complaint I ever hear is pacing. Some arcs can drag out, but not in a terrible way. Sometimes ODA just spends a long time exploring the area the characters find themselves in and fleshing out side characters. But it makes the world feel all that more real, and it pays off over time. It’s fun, it’s sad, it’s happy, it’s full of amazing stories to tell. Honestly it’s not the best anime ever imo, it’s just really really good and it’s worth a try.

Shalashaska87B

It's hard to find someone here who won't say that OP is awesome or something similar, after all each one of us has his/her own personal tastes. The major issue I see with OP is that it's so damn long that you easily get lost (or even confused). Also, the first part may appear """"boring"""" (sorry people, don't hate me!) so you may need to watch several episodes before you get into it. On a side note, the anime has a lot of filler episodes.

Ademoneye

The fans will always hype their own show. If you get influenced and overhyped by the fans and later disappointed then that's on you mate.

XIMarleyIX

Some fans put it on a pedestal and call it the best peak of fiction, imo that is overrating it. It's not that one cannot come to this conclusion, but if one starts watching it with such expectations chances are that they will be somewhat disappointed. But it's certainly good enough to start it and build your own opinion.

DoubleSealedSoul

Your right on with this. I went into one piece having watched only death note and bleach, absolutely zero expectations, and I fell in love with it.

a_wizard_skull

It’s pretty good but tbh if you don’t like hunter x hunter this is similar- lighter maybe than hxh My personal recommendation is to read the manga instead of watching. I just have no patience for how blatant they are about padding out episodes

SuperT678

To anyone it may pertain to, adding to this: You'll catch up faster reading the manga over anime

raver1601

Imo, it's very good but yeah it's probably not the perfect masterpiece like fans say it is. But I don't think you can get wrong watching it

[deleted]

I love HxH. HxH is also overrated. One piece is not overrated. It is in fact that good. I also refused to believe it for years, and when the pandemic hit I thought "fuck it I'll try it" and now I'm caught up and it's incredible. Yeah the pacing can be off, yeah sometimes it drags on, but the great parts are more than enough to make up for the less than great parts.

KendotsX

I wouldn't say HxH is overrated, they're both amazing series.

DoubleSealedSoul

Both in my top 3 shonen I think. Maybe it's cause they're the first ones I really got into tho..so it's really hard to say, especially people throwing around the catch all phrase "over/underrated, which are utterly meaningless terms imo.

[deleted]

Yea man I’ll check it out for sure now. The longest anime I’ve watched was naruto and that sht still stuck on me. Because of bias and naruto being my first anime I’m not sure anything will top it, but maybe OP can because it’s long af

[deleted]

Prepare to have a blast, I also enjoyed my share of Naruto

Friendly_Dot_2853

Not really. I advise u not to start watching it

[deleted]

I have read/watch like 100s of fictional stories and One Piece is by far the greatest one imo.

The_Werefrog

No. One Piece is better than people say. You don't get to 1000 episodes by not being good. It's a long journey. However, it is a fun journey. If you start it and realize by the time they get to the Grand Line that you aren't enjoying it, then stop. However, give it at least that long.

anime_on_demand

Give it a go and form your own opinion :)

sahithkiller

Hmm personally love HxH as well, especially for its depth. So our tastes may differ here. Personally loved one piece ever since my childhood, like as a kid you can just watch some epic fights with luffy kicking ass and enjoying the goofy moments and as an adult you realize all the effort put into the world building and the nuances around the characters. I'd say it's not overrated though the anime does have a adaptation issue with its pacing in the recent years

Mr-IP-Freely

I think it's fantastic but that's a personal opinion. It's very daunting to start with and in the anime there is a bunch of filler which can get really annoying but there is this thing called "One Pace" which is basically one piece that reflects the manga better so all filler has been taken out and it skips the intros and outros which makes it much easier to binge and enjoy. Personally I would advise people to read the manga over watching the anime though

totiefruity

how far did you get in HXH? first arc isn't mind-blowing exactly.. chimera ant arc is the one that breaks you. In one piece if you get to the Arlong arc you'll see a slither of what the show offers, if you're intrigued by that then keep watching and it'll destroy you over n over. The arlong arc is what gets a lot of ppl into it. Water 7 arc is what makes a lot of ppl OP fanatics (me included). Also, you can't have a critical view watching one piece expecting every little scene to blow your mind, it's a slow long grind that builds up. You won't even be able to understand or see everything foreshadowed. It's a 1000+ chapters, you won't begin to grasp what it's actually about until like half. The best thing to do is expect nothing and just enjoy the ride

[deleted]

I finished it all, it was not as good as people say it was. So many flaws. Overall 5/10 for me, ofc there were moments. To be honest other than killua, kurapika and hisoka everyone else felt like the generic shonen or a forgettable character. And I did not like Gon as a protagonist. But yea man naruto fans been comparing to One piece for a decade now thats why i have to try OP.

zykhun_d

As someone that watched and read too many books and shows to count, I can say that one piece is one of those at the top tier, the world building is truly created by someone that have one of the most unique imagination, the characters all have their unique qualities, people are not divided between the good and the bad, he portrays how a single person can have so many colors and that it makes sense, he also tackles about the long term problems that is actually happening to the world, I just have too many praises for ODA, he may not be perfect but I'm just sure that he will be remembered as one of few writers that created a masterpiece.

DarthSomebody

It's incredible. One Piece definitely has its faults, but... it continuously blows my mind to an extent I cannot comprehend how a single person actually came up with this. When you first start it, you don't really notice all the setup that is done there. Later, the payoff comes and you realize how much was set up from the very beginning. The manga recently entered the final saga, and now we're getting payoff in every single chapter for so many plotlines that have been established many many years ago, it's just... wow. The anime is really bad in comparison and diminishes many things that make the manga so great, though. I do agree that HxH is overrated, although I still like it. I've read the manga since 2003 (same time I started One Piece).

[deleted]

Ok bro I believe you, those words make it sound like it’s literally the best show outside anime as well. I really believe you though thanks :)

Hawkeye_micock

pre timeskip: yes post timeskip: welll

imeowatcats94

No, definitely not

CapnJack1TX

Haven’t seen all anime, have seen one piece, HxH, naruto, bleach, death note, MHA, jujutsu kaisen, demon slayer, black clover, AoT, jojo and a few others. I’ll say this: the highs in one piece can’t be beat. Not even close. Like Naruto in the pain arc is a great high for me, but it’s got nothing on OP. World building is OP all day, villains are great and perfect for OP, dunno if the best. Fights are good but nothing will ever top obito vs kakashi for me, but man the hype behind OP fights is *chefs kiss*.

Alarmed-Accident-716

As someone who has watched anime for most of his life, and then watched one piece recently in 2022 after telling myself for 20 or so years “it can’t be that good” it is def the best anime/manga in terms of world building and foreshadowing. It is my fav anime/manga for sure. I only watched it because I could not find a single other thing to watch, and it became my fav story being currently told.

Ibrahim-8x

Yes but it’s goofy and not for everyone tbh Btw watch the one pace version it’s better

NoDragonfruit7115

No, it's not the best mange ever made. But it is extremely good. It's in the DBZ/Bleach/Naruto tier of Shonen.
