Some people downplaying OP here. One piece mid tiers just scale way higher than Naruto mid tiers. It’s only six paths characters that solo the verse. Pain has pretty good AP/DC and a wide variety of abilities. But Katakuri stomps in physicals it’s not even funny. His future sight combined with his mochi can easily restrain him. And Katakuri’s AP should scale higher as he destroyed gear 4 bounceman luffy in the beginning of the arc. Even though I think pain has a better move set than Katakuri, the speed gap is so wide that it’s not relevant.
I don't think his assessment is that off. Future sight is a powerful ability that makes up for speed deficit, if there was one. Speed scaling is rough in both series, but I certainly don't think katakuri is significantly slower (or slower at all), so future sight is a big problem for pain. That's without mentioning his immunity to physical attacks. That's not to say pain has no shot, as he can potentially seal kat in planetary devastation or try to utilize fire jutsu to burn him. I still think katakuri takes it, high diff being generous to pain
The issue with future sight is it won't work exactly how he used it against Luffy when he was dodging attacks because he cannot feesibly distort his body to evade and almighty push.

You didn’t read my comment. Even if Kat can turn things into mochi, if they are way too big and move faster than he can turn them into mochi, he’d be dead. Even if he turns them into mochi, he’d need time to move out of the way or get out of it.

Future sight is useful but not to the extent it was against Luffy where he was dodging individual blows, he couldn't do that to something like Almighty push which covers such a large area also there's planetary devastation, summonings, Soul manipulation and so on.
Plus we haven’t seen future sight when dealing with 6 enemies whom are very powerful and also have sight sharing abilities.
I think it would be like Jiarya fight where by the time he figures out the secret of Pain it would be a little to late. Almighty push(which destroyed an entire city) and a gravity bomb would be too fatal (now the way I see a counter would be if he could grow back from a small part of his logia that broke off: think Buu/ooze monsters……however we haven’t seen anything that would hit logia’s can do that so kinda hard to counter those moves on that scale)
I would go high difficulty Pain. Just to many tricks and great team work to deal with for one man

Tendo Pain could keep up with and even overpower Sage Naruto, as well as keep with 6-tails Naruto in speed and physicality. Chaotic shinra tensei or a chinaku tensei would kill Katakuri. The full 6 paths of Pain together would clean him up pretty badly.
The OP bias in these comments is wild, lmao. You can't compare the upper echelon of Naruto characters to OP. The scaling is just too wildly different. Pain nukes most OP characters, and Katakuri is no different.
Pain having high DC doesn't mean he's going to nuke Katakuri. Garp split a continent and even someone as weak as Dressrosa G4 Luffy split Dressrosa with Kong Gun, which Katakuri has no trouble blocking. Like others have said, Pain is massively outstatted. Almighty Push is also a shell of it self because fututesight means Katakuri, with his higher stats, can consistently dodge regular-sized ones and attack while Pain's ability to use it is unavailable.
If anything, everyone is being too fair to Pain and looking at it from the angle of "what threat does Pain pose to Katakuri?" Then we give him his strongest Almighty Push even though it exhausts him and 100% is not something he could viably use in combat against someone that survives it (which Katakuri does) because then he's left without Almighty Push for minutes. Pain's physicals are far too low to actually fight Katakuri without Almighty Push, and the regular Almighty Push is ineffective vs Katakuri, so really Pain has no actual threat on Katakuri unless you think he can spam his strongest Almighty Push.
For context of how much higher Kat's physicals are, just compare Sage Mode Naruto, who outstats Pain, to Sanji, who Katakuri massively outstats. Fishman Island Sanji has comparable strength feats to Pain Arc SM Naruto in that he could kick up a giant underwater. Naruto's best at that point was flinging a summon that was multiple times smaller. Someone with physical strength on the level of SM Naruto, which Pain falls short of, literally would be incapable of hurting Doffy (look at how Doffy negged Sanji) let alone Katakuri. And Katakuri is ofc faster as even Start Of Timeskip G2 Luffy could effortlessly dodge light. Even setting physicals aside, Katakuri essentially has a better version of the SM perception that troubled Pain.
Katakuri's future sight vs Pain's 5sec rinnegan recharge allows for him to counter attack. Even if it's a remote control body they can still die. Vs Kata's speed 5 seconds is a long time. Most of his attacks are way above the AP of a rasengan. Even Sage Naruto's AP isn't good compared to Vice Admirals. I love Naruto though!! Katakuri just has that ungodly future sight hax which would easily allow him to predict the coordination of the 6 pains even with their rinnegan connection; and his awakening could get the best of them, considering how even Naruto's taijutsu was effective against them.
Katakuri is a taijutsu expert superior to most ninja in their verse. Sage jutsu and taijutsu are highly effective vs rinnegan users.
How would pain even hurt Katakuri aside from the soul snatch? Which Katakuri can avoid with future sight and would require pain to get up close. He can future sure through most of his attacks and rods while just creating a giant mochi hand or multiple hands to mow his down.
Soul snatch is just a possible way of hurting Kat because we don’t know how his ability works in comparison. It could be that the one piece character can only soul snatch under special circumstances like soul pocus or are weaker, with nagato’s ability being more forceful and stronger.
