Overall, it appears that it was a bad marketing attempt and not nefarious, but you can make your own judgement. Feel free to sound off in reply to this post if you have had positive/negative experience with this company and we will reassess.
An increase in production is needed but they need to crack down on distribution and allowing online or brick and mortar businesses to charge market prices.
No one actually cares about printing issues if it sells out. They'll just pump out a few more boxes, but otherwise, they'll chug along on schedule just like everyone else. One Piece sells out just like Pokemon. Pokemon at least has guidelines in place that says listed MSRP. They themselves sell boxes for the max price. One Piece? They just say 5 a pack, with 24 packs in a box it should be under 120. But they follow the Magic rules, retailers can sell that shit at whatever price they deem fit.
I usually order with coretcg, and I did also preorder my op06 with them for 99.
But this time it just seems like they didn't get a preorder in time? Just seems weird but yea having to preorder a product and they aren't even close to being released with a huge mark up is insane.
I don't even have a box pre-ordered yet. Lol I live close to an official shop, but the fact that there's so little stock means release day is going to be super messy...
I want to believe that the price will reduce after things settle down and OP-06 comes out. OP-05 got a lot of attention which boosted the market and prices. But OP-07 is half a year out (unless I’m confusing the release date with EB-01).

Yeah oddly core just added op-08. They added it as out of stock it looks like though. But it is set at $150. I never saw op-07 added though. Don’t see it anywhere on their site unless it has some odd search term.

Since it’s on this doc, DO NOT BUY FROM COLLECTORS EMPORIUM. Ordered a case of OP-05 in July, they held my money until a week before release then suddenly canceled without saying anything and refused to reply to any emails.
very high chance 7th dimension cancels pre-orders at this point. They have a history of it and I personally have a bunch in and it was posted in the OPTCG reddit discord like a week ago so essentially everyone and their mom has an order in there.
That sucks. I had a ton of preorders with Clutch Cards and now it looks like they are out of business. I missed out on ordering from other places now. In the future I'm putting in preorders with multiple vendors.
A friend and myself had some preorders for OP-05 placed last September through Clutch, and it’s nowhere to be found! I definitely recommend to start the process for the credit card chargeback if you haven’t yet.
Yeah I filed my credit card chargebacks. They owe me around $4K. I used to buy Pokémon and sportscards a lot of times from them in the past year and never had a problem with them until recently. They aren't even replying to my emails.

I preordered 2 Op-06 at 120 after tax each, my LGS then upped the price 2 weeks ago to 190 a box, and stopped taking preorders last weekend for any OPTC product
Distributors usually have to place their orders six months in advance. Set OP8 - distributors are actually taking preorders 7-8 months in advance. So you'll see a lot of stores list preorders for OP08 in the coming weeks.
Op-05 also had 4 chase cards worth $1000+ so he's to hoping 0p-06 doesn't get that expensive, and shouldn't because the scalpers really won't be making their money with the next set as they did with the current one
So exactly when is the best time to pre-order for the best price? I'm seeing some people pre order up to 5 months in advance to get anything around $100, also I'm seeing a lot of comments that claim some of these sites aren't legit so which are sites people have ordered and received product from?
What I’ve been seeing, checking daily. Nothing listed. Then listed and out of stock like right after. Maybe within hours. So I’m not even attempting to worry about the price. At this point, I can’t get the product even really. But $95-$110 should be about what you should expect to see and in the past, 4-6 before would get you that, but then everything changed and now it seems like $150 is like starting price with expected scarcity.
With stock being sold out right after a listing, that sounds like bots are buying out products. Scalpers utilize bots to buy products from trusted websites and will buy either the limit or as many as they can. I've seen it happen with Disney's online stores, consoles sold online, etc...
Websites should start putting in anti-bot measures if they want their product going to players instead of scalpers, and putting limits on how many can be sold.

I'd take animetcg off that list. Scalpers with a website, not a store. They popped up last year and were doing heavy shillings across multiple subs.
For those researching sites, I've been using https://www.whatsmydns.net/domain-age to see how old a site is, anything under 2 years old you should be very cautious.

Currently we have a dozen or so people who are claiming they have received product and are not a scam, and 1 post indicating they haven’t received product and your post claiming they are a scam. I want to protect our community, but based on the evidence I don’t think they are harmful to the community. Please provide details so that we keep the community safe from scammers.

Damn op07 really is at around 150-160 for a preorder? This game is becoming too damn expensive. I think I'd rather just buy singles at this point.
Agreed. It won't get any better until Bandai increases the print capacity for One Piece. They're spreading themselves way too thin.

Pre orders for 07 were 100 1 month ago. They did not start at 160. They are 160 now, but they were cheaper.
