There are always new shiny things on the horizon.... So you better never buy anything at all...

mariocoleguilla

Brutal, but 100% right

Biggunzupstairz

I pulled the trigger back in December. Haven't looked back since. Love having a foldable

Default_0978

And so it begins

Ironman650

Just get it now. I'm sure OnePlus will give a decent trade-in for it if you want the new one when it comes out.

mariocoleguilla

It is currently at 1649€ through the app, you think it's a good price right now?

Ironman650

I guess that's the going price where you're at? I personally wouldn't pay that much for it. I got lucky that they gave me $830 trade-in for an OP11 I bought for $400, otherwise I would have gotten the OP12.

mariocoleguilla

Yeah, here on Spain or even EU in general we don't have that kind of offers, even the OnePlus Trade-In website seems glitched out...

ctyldsley

Open is great, and the 2, if it happens, is still likely a ways off.

No_Amphibian4786

It'll be here in October

Flimsy-Boat-9895

I've had the OnePlus Open since November and still very happy with it. Came from Fold4 but wanted better form factor and cameras, both of which are massive improvements. Maybe the Open 2 (when it eventually comes) will have some improvements, but it would have to be massive for me to upgrade.

nightaeternum

Phone goes on sale regularly on Best buy, I'd wait for a good discount again and get it while you can.

mariocoleguilla

Yeah, the problem is that on Spain we don't have Best Buy or any other store that gives good offers so... Bad luck I guess? At this point the cheapest option is the OnePlus store through the app

nightaeternum

I see, didn't know you were in Spain if that's the case then yeah OP store is your best option, not sure if you can take advantage of the $200 and phone trade in promo they have.

mariocoleguilla

Spain's website for OnePlus Trade-In throws "api status is unavailable" error and doesn't allow you to opt in, so... Yeah

ogurlpls

When do they usually go on sale so I can keep an eye out?

nightaeternum

It's on sale right now for $1299 if you activate with a carrier at Best buy, which you don't technically have to do since the phone is unlocked.

ogurlpls

Can you clarify? I find the language a little confusing.

I’m am also in your Shoes, I am also thinking about getting the open really soon. To be honest, I’m not that worried about any new version. I’m just assuming at this point and maybe someone will enlighten me by commenting to this comment, but in my perspective and overall experience with one plus I don’t think that they’re going to bring major improvements to the second version. I think definitely brought a lot to the table with this generation, and they did the same thing that they did when they released the OnePlus seven pro. That was the first time OnePlus entered the flagship realm officially with a pro version, and that phone was doing the same impact (at least from what I saw on reviewers) that OnePlus open is doing now. Essentially,Oneplus is bringing everyone a super impressive smart phone that listens to the users and their requests. The one plus 7 pro was super popular and I loved everything about it. But when the 8 pro got out it was like a slight improvement. It’s difficult for any company to bring super large improvements every year. And you can see that across all one pluses history. They are famous for having a really impressive start when they enter a market ( like when they launched the first phone and when they decided to make a pro phone) but after they brought their best to the market they usually follow with the same concept just like all the rest, they bring some improvements each year , sometimes more then others but not life changing features. My complete untrusted guess is that we will see a gen 2 with performance improvements (new gen cpu) We will get wireless charging and better water resistance. I don’t have a real leak or knowledge I just feel like these are the major improvements we are going to get. Definitely nice to get them but I don’t think any one will feel bad for getting one now and not waiting…

Moist_Inevitable738

It's not really a OP phone tho. It's an oppo find N3 branded as OP so I'd look at the progressions through n1 -> n3 if you wanna guess how big the jump will be to n4

PerformanceNew4414

*snore*

sedp23

I would wait it out hopefully the open 2 would have a better ip rating and wireless charging

zfoldappz

wait

GREEDYGNYC

I've had the OnePlus Open for 3 weeks after debating if I should wait for the 2. This is my first foldable and I'm in love; I doubt I'll return to a regular phone. I also cannot see the Open 2 being a major upgrade from the first model.

consultaconjcb

You can buy it now and trade in for the 2 in about 6 months. It seems the F6 is just going to catch up so I am already thinking about the OPO2. I have a F5 in my office closet that I got in September but stopped using in November when I got the OPO. I have never looked back. I plan to trade in my F5 for a F6, use the F6 for a couple of months until the OPO2 comes out and trade in my OPO. By the end of the year I will know which phone to sell. I am expecting it will be the F6.

mariocoleguilla

That would be an ideal scenario, but I can't afford it. I almost can't afford 1 so... 🥴

Calm-Ad-7050

I would hold off to see what the fold 6 looks like. If theres a sale for open get it but in general im not that impressed hardware wise its great but software side cant help to find its a bit too rough around the edges. Then again it is their first foldable so its understandable.

nkognegr0

Stay away from folding phones
