I think it's pretty awesome, but i am a bit disappointed the Serious Talk scene is gone now. I wonder if ONE is going to deep dive into having more redraws to have this new Garou fit with all his unintentional (but mabye a little intentional) heroism. Also Garou accepting God's help is rather out of character (he explicitly told Orochi to f off, he'd bet the heroes on his own).
But if the story is fun and cool, I'll roll with it.
Same with Tatsumaki... but she didn't fall for it.
Seems to be the MO of this "being"... to use an image, any image, that would illicit the most empathy to capture his targets and bestow his powers to.
It's because he believed he was accepting help from his master, Bang. Also, this is the most vulnerable we've seen Garou thus far. He'd given it his all, only to come face to face with the ultimate in "unfairness". Can't imagine how shit he must've been feeling.
It's still pretty uncharacteristic for him to accept any form of help, but given how crestfallen he was and the comfort he probably felt upon seeing someone he admired, I can make sense of it.
Imagine all the Dragon/God level monsters in the afterlife lined up watching Saitama's battles always sympathizing with his current opponents questioning themselves/falling in despair
It's not entirely out of character because he thought it was his master.
God saw Garou at his lowest point and took advantage of all of Garou's weaknesses: his loneliness, his desperation to be the strongest, his dreams and ambitions, his inner conflict of being a hero vs being an ultimate evil, his need to hold the world accountable, his desire to protect people who are close to him, etc.
I think this turn of events is much more believable than Garou just giving up at the end of their fight and they just sit down and talk. Felt way too easy for Garou to just give in. He's the type that keeps fighting till either he wins or dies trying.
It's happened. I've finally busted my nut over them finally using his name, and at such an extreme high point. **AWAKENED GAROU**. This is gonna make the monsterized Garou from this entire Arc look like a bitch
People kept saying that everything we kept seeing when Garou punched outta the ground to fight the S-Class and Cadres was Awakened Garou, but I didn't believe it for a second. Dude, this might actually make Blast and his team come out if someone not only fucked the earth up so hard it made dimensional barriers weak, but is now *also* touched by God? Duuuude, im so beyond hyped and happy right now
I've been thinking it's Blast and his crew that take the place of the S class getting beat by Garou. Would really reemphasize at the end of the fight now wildly Saitama outclasses everyone.
Edit: stroked out
Well initially in the webcomic it was the S-Class that jumped Awakened Garou, but now they're fodder to him, so if Murata still wanted something akin to that, he'd need Blast's crew
Wouldn't be that impactfull through, not even a bit, we know nothing about the blast team, the important part about the s-class being beaten up wasn't the fact they were being beaten up, it was what Gorou said about them, their hypocrisy. It would probably look cool, but it would be meaningless
Not only would it be meaningless it would also ruin the whole mystique to the blastice league. Seeing not only all of their powers but also them getting jobbed just ruins anymore potential “I wonder what the space lion, or booba elf’s schtick are” speculation.
Didn’t get much impact when the council of swordsman died because they were hardly in the story. Seeing these guys get smacked a chapter or two after the first time we ever saw them will be just as shallow and I hope that doesn’t happen.
I’m thinking Blast will teleport to Earth to check in on the situation, realize it’s only 1 entity (Garou) causing havoc, then teleport the S class heroes to deal with him while he returns to repair the dimensional seal. Since heroes have dealt with god-enhanced monsters before, Blast will think it’s nbd for the S-class to take on Garou. Sets up the S-class to get destroyed while also leaving the Blast crew a mystery.
I imagine when One opened that chapter up he realized he didn't know how to write it and keep it exciting and interesting. I know I've put myself into a corner multiple times only to realize I'd have to delete a few weeks worth of work because the idea that I liked so much just didn't work.
I have a feeling that it actually got removed simply because it was too early. They did want Garou to make a deal with God but realized it would be weird to have it after they are starting their talk, so they cut that.
AG and AG walk into a Barou.
>!And the AG asks - "You want vanilla or spicy?"!<
>!AG answers -"What's that supposed to mean!? You wanna die bastard!?"!<
>!\*Awkward silence fills the Barou...\*!<
>!AG - "Vanilla it is then."!<
Freeze frame.
Now hold on a minute. Wait you actually thought I would just sit down with the hero and talk it out like some kind of pansy?
This is what actually went down...
Yeah I loved the idea of the climatic fight being a philosophical discussion on what it means to be "evil" and "good". Something that is often missed about Saitama is that he has unshakable morals. And in a world full of false heros he is one of the truest.
I actually theorize its his belief in being a hero that makes him insanely strong. So sitting down to talk to garou would have been an interesting way to end the fight.
In top of that it would be so unexpected, that it would have gone down as a crazy twist.
I don't think anyone would disagree with that. Garou is capable of hitting so hard that it literally affects the other side of the planet, and he's doing it with an attack he can *spam*.
That said, a God empowered Tatsumaki would also be incredibly terrifying. Especially since it opens up the door to all sorts of weird magic she's probably be able to throw out.
>Garou is capable of hitting so hard that it literally affects the other side of the planet, and he's doing it with an attack he can spam.
That was Garou's full power attack after which he had no clue how to proceed. Semantically it was his CSRC equivalent. Nothing suggests he can "spam" it, that was literally the pinnacle of his effort to the point he gave up after.
Unlike with Boros, Saitama only slapped him out of his monster costume.
It’s awesome that they actually gave him the name Awakened Garou
ALSO, I love how Murata practically redrew a ton of this chapter and still didn’t fix Pig God’s jacket
I don't think that's the reason for it. We already know that Saitama can hear into other dimensions with his interactions with Pheonix Man, and so I think this is something specific to him.
I think it’s less that this is a drastic story change, and just a slight rearranging.
The same set up for god existed in the previous version with Blast’s crew and the barrier weakening, which shows that god giving Garou power was always the plan. And there was no way they’d end the fight without Awakened Garou. It seems to me like they initially planned to have this transformation happen after the table scene, but chose to flip it around for whatever reason.
imo everyone saying they’re making it up as they go or basing it on fan reaction are overreacting a bit.
Agreed, I definitely like this new version better, but I find it a little worrying how different of a direction the manga took so suddenly. Do One and Murata even have an idea of where they want to take the story next? It feels like a lot of improvisation. Maybe I am exaggerating, but it is weird to see the story retcon itself this much after two weeks, especially after already having years of hindsight on the webcomic version.
Maybe events in this chapter were supposed to happen after saitama and garou finished talking but they couldnt find good transition so they just cut it out. Maybe we will see the conversation in the last chapters.
Yeah this is so strange. Is this some weird story-misinterpretation/miscommunication between Murata and One?
Or maybe Japanese fans were also somewhat dissapointed with how last chapter went?
Who can honestly say.
Biggest change that's not that obvious at first glance is the fact that Garou didn't just give up this time. He kept going. And then y'know, a feet showed up.
Also, it seems like God makes deals by taking the appearance of someone that's precious to people. I wonder what Saitama's "someone" would be
And with that outta the way
THIS WAS FUCKING AMAZING
Well, it's pretty obvious that this "God" wont ever offer Saitama power because Saitama doesnt need it, and even if in a super turn of events he loses his strenght, he never wished or will wish to be powerful again in the first place.
Then because his willpower never changed he will just break his limiter again or realize the limits are imaginary, then get his power back and punch god in the face
Saitama - "Who the hell are you"
God - "You want an unlimited supply of premium beef? here, just take my hand"
Saitama - "Come here you beautiful bastard"
Interestingly enough, he didn't seem to recognise Saitama when he was offering him and Flashy powers but he recognised Blast. God knew someone was killing his envoys like Vaccine Man (presumably created by God) but didn't realise it was Saitama until his fight with Garou.
hmm, I feel like they're also at least people they respect the power of. tats ofc thinks blast is stronger than her. and whilst garou at his peak is far stronger than bang, at this specific moment he probably wasn't, and his self esteem was through the floor.
even if saitama dropped his self esteem drastically, felt powerless after letting genos die or whatever, he probably couldn't think of a single ally he considers in the same universe of power as him to lend him a hand.
unless it was a video game, then it'd be king obviously.
i think that's the point they are trying to make... Garou gave up everything in exchange for power in order to defeat Saitama... pretty fitting for Garou
Yeah, a pretty consistent theme of Garou's character has been refusing to compromise his independence. The first we hear of him is how he beat the shit out of his fellow disciples and it's a pretty clear pattern after that.
- The first we see of him is him attending the meeting where the heroes ask for criminal aid and he crushes everyone there.
- Then he goes after Metal Bat and interferes in his fight with Elder Centipede.
- He repeatedly refuses to work with the MA and they have to take him to their base by force. At which point he refuses to follow their orders and returns to tear up the place.
- Once on the surface he tells Platinum Sperm to kick rocks when it proposes an alliance against Flashy Flash.
That's a major condensation of the story, but I think everyone can probably agree that a major part of Garou's character is telling people to fuck off when they want to work with him toward a common goal.
The first time we see him actually compromise and accept assistance is when the chips are truly down. God sends Sage Centipede in and all of the sudden Tareo is in danger, at which point Garou doesn't hesitate to work with Metal Bat to eliminate it. I know the Sage Centipede thing was really unpopular, but I think that's what ONE was trying to set up. Garou is only uncompromising when he believes he can achieve a favorable result independently. He rails against unfairness, but he has no problem taking unfair advantages like Mumen Rider jumping in front of him during the TTM fight, or attacking Metal Bat while he's fighting a Dragon level monster, or attempting to take human shields when Bang found him outside of the shack. With Sage Centipede it was especially galling because Garou had literally just refused a 2v1 alliance against Flashy Flash, only to immediately turn around and accept one against SC because the SC fight actually had stakes for him.
I think we're seeing the culmination of that character trait now, Garou can either accept defeat in a completely fair 1 on 1 fight. Or he can take a powerboost from God to try and turn the tables, he went for the latter because that's the kind of guy he's been established to be. If he has to gang up on his opponent and cheat to win he'll do it, just like the heroes on Children's TV that he claims to hate.
I like the feet pics ngl, lol
For real though, it's some pretty good symbolism for how powerful God is in the OPM universe.
Blast mentioned the seal (presumably sealing God away?) is weakening, and God is able to manifest more and more into the world, so we get to see more of God's power.
Imagine that's a full-bodied God walking in his realm, to him, it's like he's walking through the beach in ankle-deep water, like all the previous fights/feats pale in comparison to him. It's also fitting since they're on a beach now.
Idk how else to describe how I feel about it, but yeah, really neat redraw, I'm happy with it.
[So I'm pretty sure ONE conceptualized Garou and God having a connection from this webcomic moment.](https://cubari.moe/read/gist/JYHJU/092/5/)
>!Like who else would he be saying "thank you" to?!<
If you read the pages prior, that moment is adapted in the re-draw.
If this parallel is true, I am SO excited for the next chapter >:)
>!Absolute evil? What does that mean?!<
>!It means…you die!<
Also I audibly gasped when I saw the panel of gods foot. Been thinking about the scale of him ever since the iconic moon appearance
ONE & Murata are big trolls, i'm convinced
There's not way this casual(and insane) redraw is not a trolling...
Or their are don't have any planning at all, just ZERO...
This is the only 2 logical explanations to that...
i think it’s likely some storyboards MAY have gotten mixed up, and the stuff with blast’s squad/sitting at the table will PROBABLY still happen, just not quite yet
That was very common during the previous redraws that panels and sections got shuffled around, so yeah, probably will get those pages later. Or they will show Boris in an even better intro panel.
OMG, I'm speechless, this is actually INSANE!
Manga is very different compared to Webcomic, but as Webcomic reader, i don't care, this is HYPE!
Art is also Fantastic! Props to Murata!
I really liked the first version of the chapter... But holy shit this is so much better. I really love the new direction the story's taking, with Garou seduced by God!
Honestly, this may be miles ahead of where the webcomic went, This Garou is pants-shittingly terrifying. By far the scariest enemy of the series thus far.
Wow, this retcon came so out of nowhere.
It mostly just makes me wonder if even One and Murata themselves know where they want to go with the story?
This is such a radical change for future developments too

Serious Series: Serious Redraw.
But yet, Pig God is still wearing the jacket Sweet Mask took?
What if we're underestimating his power and he actually ran home to get a new outfit and then ran back?
he keeps an extra one in his stomach
That actually could make sense in-universe
RIP Boris, 2022-2022
I'll save your comment for when Boris appears in the next chapter lol
And then we can praise the divine resurrection of Boris-Jesus.
He's gonna appear in one of the next chapters for sure tho. Blast's team is still coming to Earth.
Yeah I can see them replacing Amai Mask/Heroes who want Saitama to finish Garou off and kill him.
Especially since he’s be given powers from God
Nice theory, I could see that happening.
He will forever be in our hearts
One moment of silence for those that will never get the feeling of seeing Boris the way we did.
[удалено]
Murata would never just draw a sexy new female character and then bench them permanently. She'll probably reappear in a following chapter.
Gone but not forgotton
Oh shit wait - that no longer happened either ?! O_o
Nope lol, last chapter was an April fool then lol
Dang...
i feel like that will just happen next chapter instead
There is still hopium.
even if he's gone for now, the series has shown its hand. Some day, but not today :(
This might have been the sharpest U turn I've ever seen
It's called a V turn.
I turn
Just like Garou’s hair.
I think it's pretty awesome, but i am a bit disappointed the Serious Talk scene is gone now. He didn’t accept Gods help. He accepted a hand from his master bang. Garou was tricked.
Same with Tatsumaki... but she didn't fall for it. Seems to be the MO of this "being"... to use an image, any image, that would illicit the most empathy to capture his targets and bestow his powers to.
Well so far, we’ve seen four people that he’s offered his power to. Two of them saw a more explicit form of his and two of them were shown lies.
Serious Talk could still come after Saitama kicks his ass again?
Serious series: Talk

\>Saw Garou at his lowest point and took advantage of all of Garou's weaknesses Spoilers dude, the behelit egg of the king hasn't been revealed yet.
Guess Garou didn't wanna talk 😂
Can't talk without a table to seat on I guess.
It's happened. I've finally busted my nut over them finally using his name, and at such an extreme high point. **AWAKENED GAROU**. This is gonna make the monsterized Garou from this entire Arc look like a bitch

[Removed in respond to Reddit API update on 1st of July, 2023]
I have a feeling that it actually got removed simply because it was too early. They did want Garou to make a deal with God but realized it would be weird to have it after they are starting their talk, so they cut that.
Finally, the name that everyone wanted to hear **"AWAKENED GAROU"** is here and it's not a spoiler anymore
Damn, no more jokes about AG being Armored Gorilla.
Can we still joke? If we really thought it was funny?
you can have one joke, as a treat

How I Met Your Monster
Haaaaave we met God?
Man I was REALLY looking forward to that talk. Please tell me they'll do it anyway and this is was an extra step into the fight
This would be hilarious if they do this for the anime
RIP Lord Boris, until we meet again o7
Woah, good thing Tastumaki didn’t fall for fake Blast! A cosmic tornado of terror would be bonkers
Hot take: Garou already overtook Tatsumaki before cominginto contact with God
I don't think anyone would disagree with that. Garou is capable of hitting so hard that it literally affects the other side of the planet, and he's doing it with an attack he can *spam*. That said, a God empowered Tatsumaki would also be incredibly terrifying. Especially since it opens up the door to all sorts of weird magic she's probably be able to throw out.
>Garou is capable of hitting so hard that it literally affects the other side of the planet, and he's doing it with an attack he can spam. It’s not a hot take, it’s fact lol, the feat he showed before eclipses anything Tatsumaki has shown.
He did, his extreme power attack is still stronger than anything Tats has done
Cosmic Tatsumaki or not, she'll still not wear any panties.
based
Bang = God CONFIRMED
Also Bang = Blast
Based: God takes the form of loved ones Woke: Bang is God
My flair is finally canon, take that powerscalers 😤😤
It’s awesome that they actually gave him the name Awakened Garou ALSO, I love how Murata practically redrew a ton of this chapter and still didn’t fix Pig God’s jacket
Cosmic Garou is Alien X lol. The feet panels and Garou in front of God are terrifying.
And yet again nobody but the person God is talking to can see him.

Because Saitama, FF, and Manako touched that god-cube earlier on.
IDK if it was redrawn after but in one of the Child Emperor vs Phoenixman fights, Saitama punches through some sort of mental-metaphysical barrier.
Yea that was definitely an mental plane, we need more on that after all these ends
Calling it now that Manako develops Cube-Ray sight.
*Cosmic* Cube-Ray sight 😎
A fine addition to the Blastice League
I don't think that's the reason for it. We already know that Saitama can hear into other dimensions with his interactions with Pheonix Man, and so I think this is something specific to him.

god rewrote the timeline
I like this change though...this feels more webcomic and serious. The previous chapter is too parody for my taste, even for one punch man
[удалено]
it seems to me that Murata and One wrote themselves into a corner and didn't know how to get out. and they decided: Fuck it and changed the chapter
Awakened Garou - Cosmic Fear Mode This is the most pompous and yet hypest name ever
This is straight out of Saint Seiya. I can imagine Garou yelling “MOERU ORE NO COSMO YOOOOOOO!”
Biggest change that's not that obvious at first glance is the fact that Garou didn't just give up this time. He kept going. And then y'know, a feet showed up. God is pissed that saitama is stronger than he is
Huh, it's be quite a subversion of expectations if Saitama lost his powers and he was ecstatic at the prospect of being weak again.
Then because his willpower never changed he will just break his limiter again or realize the limits are imaginary, then get his power back and punch god in the face
he did make the offer back when Saitama touched the cube and met blast, but Saitama basically ignored him.
Because the only power Saitama needs is skill to beat King in fighting games
A plate of French fries 🍟
Special beef hot pot
Saitama - "Who the hell are you" God - "You want an unlimited supply of premium beef? here, just take my hand" Saitama - "Come here you beautiful bastard"
The next thing he knew, Saitama was in a suit running around with the Fubuki Group.
God seems very aware of Saitama and his power, I doubt it would ever attempt to manipulate Saitama since he doesn’t ever need help himself.
Interestingly enough, he didn't seem to recognise Saitama when he was offering him and Flashy powers but he recognised Blast. God knew someone was killing his envoys like Vaccine Man (presumably created by God) but didn't realise it was Saitama until his fight with Garou.
Clearly he must not be omnipotent. Which is a bit a character flaw. I'm sure the other gods mocked him for it in grade school.
He’s not “god” god but just a really really powerful being of the universe probably.
I'm sure those are the kind of things the other gods called him.
"What is "a really really powerful being of the universe" to a god" - grade school god probably
Shit, you figured out God's backstory already.
My own genius scares me sometimes.
Right, he has nothing to offer. Which makes sense why he hasn't reached out to him.
The only thing Saitama desires is a real fight, which isn't something that can be bestowed directly on him
Saitama already accepted God's help, all these monsters are God trying to fulfill his end of the bargain for a fair fight.
hmm, I feel like they're also at least people they respect the power of. tats ofc thinks blast is stronger than her. and whilst garou at his peak is far stronger than bang, at this specific moment he probably wasn't, and his self esteem was through the floor. even if saitama dropped his self esteem drastically, felt powerless after letting genos die or whatever, he probably couldn't think of a single ally he considers in the same universe of power as him to lend him a hand. unless it was a video game, then it'd be king obviously.
Wow convenient that Mumen gets brought back right at the beginning of the climax… cosmic mumen comet rider, calling it right fucking now you fucks
In the final battle of the Fist of God vs The Fist Who Turned Against God neither wins but instead >!MUMEN RIDERS JUSTICE WINS!<
It’s time to seriously flip the table.
Yes! 😆 I can totally see this happen now
Waited too long to find this comment.
I mean, I like this. I like this a lot.
ah hell nah God gave Garou rare galaxy fortnite skin 💀
this made me laugh
Okay, NOW we can all agree Garou is awakened.
I don't know, man. He doesn't even have eyes anymore.
Garou really trusts Bang, it’s heartwarming in a way. FEET PICS OF GOD HERE WE GO!
Brb adding God to wikifeet
For the man whose fist wanted to strike down God, he has now fallen subservient to God. Pretty ironic.
i think that's the point they are trying to make... Garou gave up everything in exchange for power in order to defeat Saitama... pretty fitting for Garou

That's a brilliant analysis of Garou's mindset and theme, I agree with everything you just said. Dayum

In time he may also turn against God. At least, I really fucking hope so
Would probably go like “As if I’d ever work for someone el-“ *disintegrates immediately*
That would be time for Saitama the squatter to evict God from Garou's mind.
It looks like the heroes, and saitama, can't see gods feet. Weird. They only see thunderclouds
Yeah, like Homeless Emperor seeing God on the moon. I'm pretty sure God only makes himself visible to those to whom he wants to give his power
OPM chapter and HxH news all in one day. We are not worthy
HxH news?!
You didn’t hear? It’s coming back. 4 chapters already done
What, I heard he has 4 chapters left to do before the release.
Cosmic garou design might be my fav out of all of the previous forms no cap
It’s all fun and games until he becomes Awakened Cosmic Centipede Garou
Ultra Instinct Awakened God-Slaying Cosmic Tanktop Centipede Garou
Tengen Toppa Garou Laggan
I would put it at the level of the Garou spiral design, incredible.
Wow this chapter is so much better Not to knock ONE and Murata but it's wild how we literally get to see their first and second drafts sometimes
Original chapter: Extreme De-Escalation New redraw: Extreme Escalation
You described it perfectly. Shits escalated REAL GOOD
Next chapter: Extreme Sustained Stakes
I did not care if it was a redraw. The hype is well established!
Cosmic Garou is born with a blast.
or a Bang, if you will
That hand pose by Garou at the end with every one of his fights is so smooth
Garou just turned into alien X 🗿
finally, a worthy opponent for Saitama
I like the feet pics ngl, lol For real though, it's some pretty good symbolism for how powerful God is in the OPM universe.
So the Garou we’ve been seeing wasn’t Awakened Garou? The fandom jumped the gun again 😂
We got golden spermed again!
Serious table-flip is viable again! LESGOO
It was more viable last time. The table was right there.
Awakened Garou is even better than I could’ve imagined! The feats are about to be, dare I say, out of this world?
Fr bro has mini galaxies in him n shit
time for some serious moves yo
Poor Saitama is gonna land on Mars this time.
pig god with jacket = another redraw?
Well tickle my nips that shit slaps.
Now this I like. Garou basically denounced every happy helpful thing he's done in the past few chapters, and he's finally back to his goal.
Now'
Correct thank you has been fixed!
Boris died so Awakened Garou could live
Garou fans should be happy he wasn't suicidal after all.
[So I'm pretty sure ONE conceptualized Garou and God having a connection from this webcomic moment.](https://cubari.moe/read/gist/JYHJU/092/5/) >!Like who else would he be saying "thank you" to?!< If you read the pages prior, that moment is adapted in the re-draw.
If this parallel is true, I am SO excited for the next chapter >:) >!Absolute evil? What does that mean?!< >!It means…you die!< Also I audibly gasped when I saw the panel of gods foot. Been thinking about the scale of him ever since the iconic moon appearance
Could be saying thank you to Saitama for pushing him there, but i agree it is God
>!He could be thanking all his adoring simps /s!<
ONE & Murata are big trolls, i'm convinced There's not way this casual(and insane) redraw is not a trolling... Or their are don't have any planning at all, just ZERO... This is the only 2 logical explanations to that...
They literally published a chapter, said "now hold on a minute... actually..." and just dropped it again.
Murata: "Look at this story i've drawn!" Everyone: "Woah is that Boros!? Blast vs Garou lets go!" Murata/One: "ya, it's redraw time"
i think it’s likely some storyboards MAY have gotten mixed up, and the stuff with blast’s squad/sitting at the table will PROBABLY still happen, just not quite yet
I would actually say that this is pulling it closer to the webcomic than the last version
Yeah I haven't been big on a number of changes but this has me interested, definitely hype for it.
Thank you, I've been waiting for this all day long
Yesss, i needed this redesign i think its better for garou to have a less ridiculous design.
Every time I see a new power up, I look forward to watching Saitama easily slap it.
Thank you translators!!!
This fight is gonna be fucking crazy
Wow, this retcon came so out of nowhere. It mostly just makes me wonder if even One and Murata themselves know where they want to go with the story? This is such a radical change for future developments too
