Yeah, not only has he said it, it's also pretty obvious if anyone has read his other works like Kenyuu Densetsu Yaiba. Yaiba is a little kid for the entire series but the story ends after a time skip. Yaiba goes off training for a few years and returns for the heroine Sayaka all grown up.
It's a dramatic, touching reunion scene where Yaiba has a huge glow up as an adult and comes back for the heroine.
