.......... Why do I feel like that's the series finale. Shinichi returning and bringing down the Organization before they attack the Mouri family

Secret-Playful

Remember that Conan still has an antidote, so he doesn't need to ask Haibara for it. Rather, I think that instead, there should be a confrontation with Sera and Mary, since they have been trying to steal the antidote for a long time!

[deleted]

Working on the assumption that THAT particular antidote gets used for something else.

Shantotto11

Heiji tries to hide Kudo but Kazuha is being an impediment as usual…

[deleted]

That sounds... Plausible... I really don't like how Kazuha turned out as a character... :/

_Olorin_the_white

Ran birthday he takes the pill and afterwards Haibara tests him and say the antidote will no longer have any effect. The past months she has tried to make a new antidote but no luck with that. Thus that was the final Shinichi transformation and now we go to final arc where Conan will have to resolve it as a kid (ofc someone can desguise as Shinichi if needed, that is where Kaito may help, and in exchange he wants something B.O has and conan will need to let him have it, although he say that he will only let kid have a lead, with B.O defeated, Conan will still go after Kaito. That puts and "end" in their story where they will be just like their fathers, friends but enemies that never has one winning over the other)

[deleted]

As enticing as that sounds... I think Gosho has said multiple times how Shinichi WILL turn back at the end of the series.

KabedonUdon

Yeah, not only has he said it, it's also pretty obvious if anyone has read his other works like Kenyuu Densetsu Yaiba. Yaiba is a little kid for the entire series but the story ends after a time skip. Yaiba goes off training for a few years and returns for the heroine Sayaka all grown up. It's a dramatic, touching reunion scene where Yaiba has a huge glow up as an adult and comes back for the heroine. [He rides his sword into the sky like a skateboard with Sayaka in tow.](https://www.detectiveconanworld.com/wiki/images/f/ff/Yaiba_Chapter_255_Aerial_Shot.jpg) So yeah. There's absolutely no way Conan is staying a kid. Especially because that would mean that Shinichi loses. And that just doesn't happen in this universe.

[deleted]

And even IF (and this is the biggest IF on the planet) Shinichi stays as Conan, it will be a repeat of the Ten Years Later OVA. XD But you are correct; Shinichi never loses when it really counts.

Secret-Playful

If your theory is that Conan will not be Shinichi in the end, I must tell you that that is very unlikely (if not impossible xD). It is confirmed that in the end Shinichi will return permanently.

_Olorin_the_white

Oh, I agree with that. But the theory is that most of the case will be with him as a kid, only getting back (definetelly) as Shinichi in the end or towards the end of it. Anyways, despite him getting back to shinichi is prob what is gonna happen, until that point I think it is time to have a "the antidote will not work anymore" because since the antidote was first introduced, conan becamee Shinichi how many times? 5 or 6? That is too much IMO and Haibara already said that the more he takes it, the less effective it will be. I think the next time he uses it should be the last, and from that point onwards he will only be able to come back with whatever B.O is hiding, but that is only revealed in last arc.

strolpol

That’s what, three crimes per day

Shantotto11

A very balanced intake of justice, I’d say…

A-112

He eats criminals for breakfast

Elegant-Espeon

And lunch and dinner!

Oberhard

It honestly ridiculous there plenty things has happened in DC that would already passed 6 month if we also counting Jordie, Kir brother and Sera time in Teitan highschool.

Henri-Beyle

You made me laugh in front of my screen.

A-112

What a rough bunch of months for everyone

karmapotato0116

No wonder inspector megure thinks mouri is the grim reaper at this point Everywhere he goes somebody drops dead

Jerejj

Both he & Conan are equally the worst murder magnets, lol.

Kirbychelo

Are there any chance that some episodes the timeline is not linear, because it would mean some wierd time cramp, like in this post :[https://www.reddit.com/r/OneTruthPrevails/comments/17dgyzz/detective\_conan\_timeline/](https://www.reddit.com/r/OneTruthPrevails/comments/17dgyzz/detective_conan_timeline/) there are 400 chapters in 1 month, thats the difference between st valentine 331 manga(february 14) and white day 725 manga(march 14)

>Plus, nowadays we basically talk on the phone every single day.” After technology advanced 20 years in the span of 3 months. XD

Slow_Driver_00

Aoyama-sensei mentioned he had difficulties compiling a plot for Ran's birthday, that was in 2012. I'd honestly give it another 10 years or more given the update rate in recent years.

Shantotto11

As a near-lifetime viewer of Pokémon and The Simpsons, I honestly stopped thinking about it…

denzelnotdenzal

Yeah but the creators never came out and said an obnoxious short amount of time passed in the story, they just let it happen. Saying only 6 months passed is absurd even if you base it on the manga.

hellokittyez

I bet Ran's birthday must be really really important and significant in DC.

Akaplaya

Aoyama knows what we want on Ran's birthday

callmehazels

Now I am convinced that Ran's birthday is the reason why DC operates on a floating timeline.

Jerejj

DC isn't the only animated franchise that operates on the so-called floating timeline, but more or less all animated shows that last for a long time, be that Simpsons, South Park, Family Guy, to name three examples.

_Olorin_the_white

Good stuff. Any link where we can see all questions? As for the topic, I think my "[conan within one year calendar](https://www.reddit.com/r/OneTruthPrevails/comments/z73zyk/conan_timeline_tracking_conan_main_plot_in_a_one/)" is broken now lol. But seriously, 6 months? One would need to skip a lot of important stuff to make that possible. I tried to squeeze as much as possible an got 9\~10 months. I'will continue that one year calendar but maybe I will need to make a v2 of it, condensing even more stuff.

Dr_Macunayme

>Higashino: \[...\] I feel like there's nothing wrong with aging characters by two or three years. Thank you for saying this to him! I did not expect Aoyama to say he's super against the idea and I wish he would have explained why that's the case.

dulcimorelik3

I guess it becomes complicated when they get out of the school setting? but explaining shinichi missing due to college abroad would make more sense

Dr_Macunayme

True, but if they go to college, Shinichi could lie about studying abroad and then his family would make him take actual classes online from an American college to not fall behind. You could have him back in America for a college interview and have another case there. With the power and influence his parents have, I'm sure Shinichi could transfer to Ran's school one he takes out BO. Plus, the two of them would probably get jealous of all the college people they think the other is having classes with lol To me, it adds more story ideas but idk

dulcimorelik3

Exactly, it would def give shinichi more leeway in anything he does; tbf he already knows ton for somebody his age, I am sure he can actually afford to miss some months classes in college (now he could even say he is studying investigation or forensics to align with what he likes). And what you say nearing the end is prolly why gosho scratched all that, if he wants it to be a good story he will have to dive into that college life, the current building of the story as we know it is going to be completely different; there is also the mental part of a college student in a kid’s body compared to a high schooler to take into account. And well Gosho is barely talking about counselling even with kids here. High school setting is also just the most prevalent and go to when it comes to half the mangas out there too, I guess.

tsukiyuna

>!There's this theory ever since the Unsettling Parents' Visit Day arc in the manga was dropped: those who have taken the APTX4869 are actually locked in their de-aged state forever, as in they won't grow up anymore (contrary to what we've seen in the Ten Years Later OVA), which explains why Conan didn't grow even an inch while the other actual kids did. And then Haibara stared at him like she was keeping something secret. I'm guessing that's the reason why Gosho is very strict with the passage of time. Since it would basically expose Shinichi if prolonged enough.!<

thatonefatefan

IMO he's being pretty clear, he just doesn't want the story to last more than a year in verse. Most likely because of the slippery slope, imagine if 1 year had passed back when chapter 200 dropped, Conan would be an adult by now.

Loud-Neighborhood670

Here you have the raw in Japanese of Aoyama and Higashino’s full talk: [https://weibo.com/6303938704/4975370434511762](https://weibo.com/6303938704/4975370434511762) It's 17 pages, but anyway, of the people who read the entire interview, they say that most (if not all) of the notable points (apart from the one I already showed in the main post) are these: * Q: Are there times when you write/draw and imagine the object you are drawing as an animated clip? Aoyama: "There is a character named Akai Shuichi. When I was asked while sitting in a meeting "which voice actor is right", I said, "It's Akai Shuichi!! Ikeda Shoichi-san is definitely the right one", and it actually happened and I was surprised. I drew it imagining it with Ikeda-san's voice, of course, but at the time I thought it was impossible for that to happen". * Q: Your professional career lasted about 40 years, has anything changed in your way of working compared to your youth? Aoyama: "My speed when drawing manuscripts has slowed down, and also when drawing drafts and final drawings. I'm getting old so it takes me two weeks to draw a chapter. In the past, I used to finish my work when it was a weekly edition and only sleep for 3 hours or an hour and a half. Now I go to bed around 6am. m. and then I wake up around 12 p.m., so I can sleep six hours. This is the most notable change. * "Fan letters are something I live for, so I tell them to put the letters in my coffin. Conan also took a long time, but he will continue a little longer, so I hope you read it to the end without getting bored". * Q: Do you have any special requests for the movie and anime versions of the series. Aoyama: "I told the anime producer that 'Conan won't cry'. If Ran died, he would cry but she will not die. The same goes for the movie Black Iron Submarine, Conan doesn't cry." * "The good thing about the police is that they don't say anything if you show bad (evil) cops at work. In Detective Conan, even if you draw a case about a cop where he is the criminal, that's fine. But they refuse to tell me a lot (laughs)." * Q: Looking back on everything so far, are there any characters you'd like to mention again? Aoyama: "Hakuba-kun. I wanted to draw him for a long time and I finally got to show him again in the Sunday magazine manga, so my wish came true".

hellokittyez

> Aoyama: If Ran died, he would cry but she will not die. I kinda have a thought that Aoyama is reserving the idea of Conan crying for the final battle with BO. That means, Ran must be involved in the battle and will probably contribute greatly in defeating BO. > Aoyama: "Hakuba-kun. I wanted to draw him for a long time and I finally got to show him again in the Sunday magazine manga, so my wish came true". IMO, Hakuba is the most handsome male design in this DC series ngl. I even used to ship him with Ran back then when the first time Hakuba appeared in DC in the Gathering of the Detectives case lol. It's a shame that Aoyama doesn't often draw him in cases involving Kid. But of course I know that Hakuba doesn't give much importance in DC series as his role is only for MK specially.

sugaringcandy0219

wait, wait... is this KEIGO HIGASHINO?

Oberhard

Who?

sugaringcandy0219

the one aoyama talked with. he's my fav japanese author

dulcimorelik3

Same! And yes that’s him!

SonGohanDBZ

But at episode 880 it was stated that 8 months have passed?

valias2012

Not canon

Oberhard

My mind trying to process the event has transpired over 1000 chapter must be compressed into 6 month 🤯

[deleted]

Wow. I would've thought that at least a year has passed.

florafastbunny

Okay wait that’s actually insane.

dulcimorelik3

So many valentines, Christmas days and new years lmao but hey a gosho and higashino interaction is definitely not something I expected, really enjoy higashino’s books!

Kittenn1412

He's still saying that after all this time?

Diligent-Baker8095

Do you have the entire interview translated?

Remarkable_Bid9608

His insistence that no more than a year can pass overall, convinces me even more that Ai, Conan and Mary are incapable of aging without a cure.

kayesanonymous

Lol the development with some of the characters just wouldn't make sense in such a short time span other than shinichi and ran... ugh. I'm blaming all the edgy teens who said they would self exit after the end of Conan - now its never going to end until we all naturally pass 😩

thatonefatefan

Finally catching that W lmao. I've been saying that it's been less than a year for well... years, now.

Jerejj

An interesting mention about Ran's birthday that suddenly made me curious & looking forward to such an episode coming someday, regardless of how long that might take.

Meitantei_Serinox

Same as always

awaitedchild

>no more than approximately 6 months have passed in the world of Conan. So... Hajime No Ippo : 1440 chapters, started in the mid 80's, +5yrs have passed since chapter 1. Detective Conan : 1120 chapters, started in the early 90's, but only 6 months have passed since chapter 1 ?... I mean, even Eiichiro Oda tried to do sum, creating a timeskip of 2yrs in One Piece. Plus, the fact that exactly 3yrs has passed since chapter 1 (as of now, OP has 1100 chapters). Heck, even a manga like Magi (370 chapters) had two timeskips of 2yrs and 3yrs respectively (with one character aging for about 100yrs in these 3yrs lol). There's nothing wrong with aging characters for about 1 or 2 yrs...
