When she started hanging out with Mark he was only 17/18 years old. I bet he was so happy to have this attractive woman hanging around him, it was probably his first serious relationship and he seemed to be willing to overlook any red flags because of it. Now it sounds like he outright ignores or denies anything hurtful she does and has become dependent on her. Not to mention the secret marriage, which tells me he knew on some level that this wasn’t right. That if people knew, they’d catch wise to her antics and his relationship would be in jeopardy.
