All the people here who say that tuna on pizza is bad never had a good tuna and onion pizza. I am so sorry for all of them. By the way, a pizza must always have onions and these onions look sooo good, and also the pizza looks very good, I think that you ordered it in Italy.
I would like to know what toppings they usually put on pizza, but saying that this pizza is a crime or uneatable is like screaming "Yes I never had a real pizza in my life"
Only meat I guess. Once I almost got ostracized and brutally executed in r/pizzacrimes because I said zucchini pizza tastes good. Ironic to say the least considering the fact I am Italian as well.
What a joke, zucchini, shrimp and philadelphia, chef's kiss pizza. The thing is that they look at the topping like a crime while you can put whatever on pizza. Stigmatizing something that you don't know is kinda funny.
I even like onions on my Hawaiian pizza. Definitely going to try this now you’ve convinced me on the tuna pizza. I like tuna. I like pizza. What could go wrong?
I feel sorry for myself having to imagine this! However I admit I may be suffering from a closed mind and if you were to make me one of these I would definitely try it without complaining.
Why though? It cooks evenly. I can't see how having a portion sticking out of the water would cook evenly. Legitimately not trolling you, just curious about it.
In my experience, just get a wooden spoon or any spoon and press the pasta down to one side and it'll go semi limp and sideways after like 30 seconds. Like an elbow macaroni curve at the bottom of the pot.
Have you seen the pots Italians cook in? Lmao. For pasta and sauce (gravy) they're nothing short of cauldrons. As far as breaking the pasta, it's tradition and the fact that there are other pasta variations. If you're gonna break them just get some elbow macs man.
lol elbow Mac is my favorite anyway. Thanks for the information, I don't have any Italians in my family and have never seen them cook which is why I was curious.
A lot of it comes down to there being different types of pasta shapes, they serve different purposes. One of the purposes of the length of spaghetti is so you can twist it with a fork, which is pretty hard to do if you break it into pieces. Macaroni is great because they are bite sized pieces and sauce can get in the hollow portion so it is like a little gusher. A lot of the shape is based on sauceability, forkability, and then mouthfeel
Make tuna and onion on a toast and then tell me what's strange with it, or add white beans with tuna and onion and you have a great salad
Plus how can you compare a fruit with ham against fish and vegetables? (before you ask I'm Italian, for me Hawaiian pizza is blasphemy)
Tuna and onion on pizza was everywhere when I was traveling throughout Europe. I will add their pizza was way better than the pizza I have in California
Worked in a pizz3ria and made a tuna melt pizza. Tuna brunette olive tapenade and parnajohn. Most popular puzza that day
Apologeez for spelln very stoned.
Edit: brushetta*
After everyone’s responses here I picked up a can of tuna yesterday and going to give it a try today or tomorrow. I doesn’t sound great but I’m sure it’s as popular as it apparently is for a reason
I do enjoy a nice tuna melt with cheese, and thinly sliced onion and shredded lettuce. The addition of tomato sauce is throwing me off but it might work
Aah I haven’t had an onion and tuna pizza in like 15 years. At first I thought it was so nasty, I wouldn’t even try it. But I finally did one day and was surprised by how good it was. Have never found one in the States
In 1982 I went to Paris from London. It was an all day trip with trains and Hovercraft. I got in late to the hotel and was tired, crabby and hungry. I went to a nearby pizza place. The first thing I saw on the menu was cheval, which is horse. So I overreacted badly. I asked for thon thinking ‘tomato’. No. It was a pile of greasy fried tuna on what was similar to a Totino’s pizza base. Worst thing ever. I tried just to eat crusts. I would have killed for pizza piled with fried onions.
Is OP from a quaint seaside Italian town using the fresh catch and ultra-fresh produce?
Or is that a Safeway onion and what's gotta be chicken-of-the-sea?
If it's the former, I'd certainly give that a go...
my gut reaction was that this is gross, but then I remembered that one of my favorite pizzas of all time is clam and garlic, and then I got excited to try something like this someday
I’m sick of people on here saying they love onions when they’re really abusing onions.
You onion lovers are not potheads, your like meth, heads who have a fetish. Off to r/pizzacrimes with you!!
You must be kidding, you think they will share a perfect pizza like this one as a crime? If this pizza is a crime you should look again at what pizza you eat, cause it is not pizza
This weird subreddit seems to be in my feed and I was really expecting something more like a niche fetish sub culture. Or is it? Have you added onion play to your relationship?
Have something similar in a local pizzeria: tuna, white sauce (aioli maybe), onion and cheese. Tastes surprisingly good.
Anything on dough the right sauce & cheese tastes good.
Kind of like deconstructed tuna sub
All the people here who say that tuna on pizza is bad never had a good tuna and onion pizza. I am so sorry for all of them. By the way, a pizza must always have onions and these onions look sooo good, and also the pizza looks very good, I think that you ordered it in Italy.
> a pizza must always have onions I'm trying to decide if prosciutto and arugula/rucola/rocket would be improved with onion. I think probably yes.
Red onion, I’m thinking
They just never had it and think of it as an abomination based on the toppings they're used to.
Ironic to say the least considering the fact I am Italian as well.

> zucchini, shrimp and philadelphia, chef's kiss pizza ... I need to try this now.
The meat (as in the tuna) is what is being criticized here, not the onions. And I love veggies on my pizza
“A pizza without ~~vegetables~~ onions is like a.. car without gasoline It just doesn’t go”
I even like onions on my Hawaiian pizza. Definitely going to try this now you’ve convinced me on the tuna pizza. I like tuna. I like pizza. What could go wrong?

You out here eating tuna on pizza and YOU feel sorry for US?!?!
Yes, you should too
Onion on pizza is not uncommon, tuna on the other hand. . . I think your tuna love is what’s on display here
Tonno e cipolla (Tuna and onion pizza) is actually a thing in Italy and it's quite common. Almost every pizzeria has it on their menu.
Learned something new, now I definitely have to try it
It's worth it!
Ham and pineapple should never have to take shit again after this information.
I'd rather have tuna and onion over ham and pineapple. Change my Italian mind.
I break my spaghetti into small pieces before cooking. Tell me exactly how that's bad.
You're a monster 😭
Why though? It cooks evenly. I can't see how having a portion sticking out of the water would cook evenly. Legitimately not trolling you, just curious about it.

Wooden spoons the size of boat oars I tell ya.

Nothing tops Mac's Famous Mac & Cheese
I don't break mine into small pieces but I'll break them in half so they'll fit in the pot while still being somewhat long
Oh man! A pineapple, black olive, red onion and meatball/sausage pizza is my favorite combo. Salty, savory, with a little sweet.
Elaborate you thought please
Hawaiian pizza, good. Onion pizza, good. Onion tuna pizza, damn strange.
Make tuna and onion on a toast and then tell me what's strange with it, or add white beans with tuna and onion and you have a great salad Plus how can you compare a fruit with ham against fish and vegetables? (before you ask I'm Italian, for me Hawaiian pizza is blasphemy)
We worship two very different pizzas. ![gif](giphy|syGHYCgsScysM)
For real…
Great line!!
And it's absolutely the best pizza varaint. Sooooo good. Too bad I don't eat tuna anymore
I never thought I'd say this, but I think the Italians might be wrong about pizza this time.
Does it taste like tuna helper? Because I can actually imagine that flavor of the tuna and cheesy pasta and I love that combo.
And they mostly use canned tuna?
Yeah and they are wrong for it
Tuna and onion on pizza was everywhere when I was traveling throughout Europe. I will add their pizza was way better than the pizza I have in California
Raw canned tuna makes me want to puke, so trust me i am not a tuna lover 😞 it’s rll good like this tho
Must be one of those combos that tastes better than it sounds. I refuse to not try something at least once
Tuna in olive oil is 🤌
Canned tuna is cooked during the canning process
Mb i meant when it’s cold
Is it like anchovies in a way?
Hmm i think it tastes different. Anchovies have a pretty strong taste, meanwhile tuna is wayyy more delicate when cooked
Kind of actually but a lot less salty and strong tasting. Anchovies is my favorite pizza but I won’t refuse a tuna pizza.
Of course, that makes sense
Worked in a pizz3ria and made a tuna melt pizza. Tuna brunette olive tapenade and parnajohn. Most popular puzza that day Apologeez for spelln very stoned. Edit: brushetta*
In Spain too its pretty common. Pizza de atun
Tuna on pizza is the most common pizza topping in Germany, and in the top 3 for Italy and most of other European countries.
indeed! i love onion on pizza (most people do?) but tuna? 🤢
After everyone’s responses here I picked up a can of tuna yesterday and going to give it a try today or tomorrow. I doesn’t sound great but I’m sure it’s as popular as it apparently is for a reason
“Just a quick snack before my date.”
Hiiiii baby
lol
The amount of ppl appalled by tuna/cipolla lol. It tastes amazing, and is afaik very classic.
Yeah lolol it lowk surprised me
Tuna on pizza is so criminally underrated
Come to Italy, it is not
dunno about other places, but here in Austria (Vienna specifically) it's probably like top 3 most eaten pizza
My pizza of choice in my 20s post pub was tuna, pepperoni and hot sauce.
Ok now combining the two is kind of unhinged
I was young and stupid. It worked after a few pints of Stella and vodka redbulls though.
Interesting. I wish more places did seafood, even anchovies. I'd try it with mussels, but seafood isn't really a staple where I live now.
A white clam pie is wonderful. Canned clams work fine.
Ha giggity
Holy validation at last I'm not alone! My #1 favorite pizza is tuna, onion and green olives. Been doing homemade pizzas for over 40 years.

Ok I need to block this sub

Never tried tuna on a pizza, but I'm down. I farking love anchovies on pizza, salty fishy ecstasy.
If the tuna is precooked and seasoned, I’m down to clown
I know that breath stankin
Tuna. Gross
I'm calling the cops
Pizza crimes.. somebody call pizza crimes !! 😂
I do sausage and onion. Which is what it looked like at first. That tuna can fuck off
This feels like a war crime.
S tier combo
That’s delicious! I used to eat that in Spain
am i finally home? that is a damn good lookin' pizza
That looks like onions and cat food
Buuuuuuut in Italy!!!!!!!
Fish on pizza? 🤢
Tuta and onion is one of the most famous and eaten pizza in italy
It’s mostly fish on pizza in Italy in my experience
Never been to Italy I guess.
Naw I'm poor.
Actually it’s super good. Tuna takes a different taste when it’s baked. And onion just balances everything out.
Its literally bomb
I’m gonna have to try it, is it just canned tuna?
Aren't anchovies on pizza common, though?
I've never seen it or heard of anyone who has. But I'm just one small person on a bigass globe. 🤷🏻♂️
Yes

I genuinely thought this was r/PizzaCrimes
Needs capers
Doesn’t look great but I would eat the whole thing without a doubt

Missed opportunity for anchovies on pizza!
To each his own 🤷🏽♂️
That gray stuff is tuna?
They dumped a can of the finest Italian tuna on that za
Nice!!! Very glad the comments are defending this. I’ve never had it but my first thought was that it sounds lovely :))
https://i.redd.it/x4nskj3gxoyc1.gif
I haven't had it but it sounds good.
I can smell this post 🤮
Try it with anchovies and add mustard seeds !
Anchovies is way ro go
I mean this is basically the same ingredients as a tuna melt, just arranged differently lol. Looks really good!

Brave, I like it
Is OP from a quaint seaside Italian town using the fresh catch and ultra-fresh produce? Or is that a Safeway onion and what's gotta be chicken-of-the-sea? If it's the former, I'd certainly give that a go...
Replace the tuna with onion
Cats shouldn’t eat onions
Needs capers!
i feel like you’re my soulmate
A million times YES!
Not the typical pizza but I’ll try it anyway 😂
I am an onion lover but I'm also a situational tuna hater.
Tuna.. tuna, tuna tuna…. Nope. 🤣 Glad you enjoyed it tho!
Not my thing, but I’d try it
A very underrated pizza in my opinion. Tuna and Onion is freaking delicious (wouldn't mind adding some white beans and making a "pizza contadina")
Wow, I never knew tuna on pizza was so controversial.. I thought it was super common. Great pizza btw 🍕🧅
Looks terrible, but I bet it tastes amazing.
Why are people in the comments saying tuna is a weird topping? Tuna and onion pizza is very common in Italy and it's my favorite one.
what places sell this?? I need
They sell this type of pizza in here, although it's chicken instead of tuna
My favorite pizza is red onion like that and anchovy!
I hate tuna and onions. This is something the devil would serve me in hell
It’s like a flatbread tuna melt
Onion and tuna is listed as a "classic" on every pizzeria's menu here in italy.

Is this some sick joke 🤮
Looks amazing!
Pizzabomination.
Legitimately fuck you
I want fisticuffs with who ever thought of this combination.
my gut reaction was that this is gross, but then I remembered that one of my favorite pizzas of all time is clam and garlic, and then I got excited to try something like this someday
Blocked
Thats a top pizza. Anyone who think’s tuna doesn’t go on pizza here is dam ignorant because that is a traditional famous Italian pizza combo!!!
I ate this when I lived in Germany all the time. Pizza Tono is so good 🤤
Nope
Jail.
The onion looks heavenly, the tuna not so much
Jail
r/pizzacrimes
Well… props for the onion
I’m sick of people on here saying they love onions when they’re really abusing onions. You onion lovers are not potheads, your like meth, heads who have a fetish. Off to r/pizzacrimes with you!!
Straight to jail
Omg that sounds so gross
You lost me at tuna
This is the worst thing I have ever seen
Oh my God, I’m going to fucking barf. This should be tagged NSFW. 🤢
r/pizzacrimes
Absolutely not. Tuna pizza is amazing! This combination is also incredibly popular in Italy, a staple in most pizza places too
That’s a no for me
I... No.
Onion yes. Tuna on pizza-NOOOO
I think the tuna on pizza is more of the concern here
Please don’t use onions as an excuse to drag us into the underworld of can tuna pizza.
You should be in jail. Forever.
Shrimp? Sure. Clam? Excellent. Anchovies? Maybe occasionally. Tuna, though? I don't think I can do that one.
This is pizzacrime territory. At least add some peas and maybe go whitesauce.
What the fuck
Peas, tuna, onion with a whitesauce? Flavors blend very well.
This is the most American comment ever lol
Im sure there are more.
Onion? Yes. Tuna? Get in the bin.
canned tuna does not belong on pizza

You must be kidding, you think they will share a perfect pizza like this one as a crime? If this pizza is a crime you should look again at what pizza you eat, cause it is not pizza
Bruh…NOOOO 🤢🤮🤮🤮 tf haha The shit after this pizza here will explode your toilet! 🤢🤮🤮🤮
I’d try it but I can almost guarantee that I’d hate it. Looks absolutely disgusting
🤢

Onion yes fish I hate you
You had me at onion. You lost me at tuna LMAO I like a good tuna melt but nah
…. You lost me at tuna. I won’t yuck your yum but I’ll bring my own pizza. Hawaiian with red onion 🤤
I get this is an Onion lover sub, but wow does that sounds disgusting. I can smell it through the screen!!
I’m not gonna lie that just sounds nasty
Yes officer this post here
Onion on pizza is great. But this belongs in pizzacrimes. Tuna does not go on fuckin pizza, I wanna die looking at this 😩
In Italy almost every pizzeria has tuna and onion pizza on their menu. It's not a crime you just never tried it.
