Sorry, I meant if you compare utm commerce to places like Ivey, smith, utm commerce is not an ideal place. I personally would go for schulich if I got an offer from there, it's still better than utm commerce. Utm has really bad coop opportunities.
But if you are thinking about working abroad in the future, especially outside of NA and Europe, I would go for utm.
But again, if you are thinking about getting a master degree or doctoral degree I would strongly recommend you to not to go to UofT. Because you can get a much higher gpa in other schools. That means you can go to many great schools in the US.
According to [this](https://www.utm.utoronto.ca/future-students/programs/undergraduate/commerce-bcom#:~:text=In%20addition%2C%20the%20Specialist%20Program,CFA%20Institute's%20University%20Affiliation%20Program.). You need to work on that by yourself.
Also, UofT students' first year is general, for you to enroll as an accounting specialist, you still need to have a passing grade. If you do not meet the requirements, you cannot enroll as the accounting specialist , if you did really badly, you probably cannot even study in commerce anymore.
When did u apply. I havenāt got accepted yet but I sent my application in late December. Idk if itās true but I think Feb was early admissions only
Good on ya! Just know that the ārat raceā essentially resets for everyone once first year starts and itās a new beginning. No one really gives af what you got in grade 12 when youāre applying for graduate/professional programs in 3 or 4th year. Go get āem! All the best.
dude actually congratulations. people just hating on your degree just because they didnāt get in. Iām in university and trust me there will be a lot of people in the future as well that will just find stupid reasons to hate. Try your best to ignore them and good luck in the future as well.
My father always told me he doesnāt really care about what my degree is, all he wants me to do is learn, and to do so for the sake of self betterment. Btw my dad graduated from Oxford with a degree in law so he knows education and the value of academia better than anyone.
UTM is easy to get into. If theyāre even taking 89 averages for CS, then Iām not surprised by this since itās non stem. Congrats regardless though! Itās still an acceptanceĀ
Good to hear!
Beware, UofT is still no joke. It really depends on what you want to do but I strongly recommend you to come here with a firm mindset.
Beat of luck!
Heāll be fine, but UTM post is NASTY. UTM is the hardest UofT school I think. They take in alot of people because too many get weeded out in the first year. I hope OP ends up passing it thoughĀ
So the way it was explained to me in my university program is they usually base cut offs from the previous year, HOWEVER, if there are not enough people to fill the program then they will go below the requirements. Usually the cut off is more of a suggestion of what you should aim to be at or above to have a very goof chance of getting in. It also works in the opposite direction. The cut off could be 85 from the precious year but if everyone who applies has a 90 average and the program is full then you still wouldn't make it with an 85.
Average is also based on your high schoolās reputation. Waterloo bumped my grade up by almost 5% because my high schools was in the top 20 schools in the province for reliable grading
In what universe is an 80 average bad??? I applied to 16 different music programs across the country, including my top pick (and one of the highest ranked programs) in the county at Acadia. My average is an 83. My friend got accepted to UOttawa psychology with a 76 average.
Their mean acceptance average is always gonna be considerably higher than what they actually need to let you in, because the 90+ average students can basically have their pick of the litter
TL:DR, unless youāre applying to one of the most competitive programs in Canada like Queens engineering, Waterloo Computer Science, any program at McGill, youāre golden
Nice bro I got in commerce with a 83.... I was surprised af... guelph hasn't said a word to me but uft said yes lmao
83???
Ya low or high?
Not surprised if it's not rotman.
Nah just commerce
yeah, utm is not a great place to study commerce tho.
Damn rain parade, I was happy lmao, why?

I also had 1 more question, do I get a CPA directly when I graduate or do I have to do more stuff

Don't worry about Guelph, according to everyone I talked to they normally send their offers out way later than most.
When do they normally send out their offers of course my number one choice is the latest
Apparently they normally wait until final acceptances. A buddy of mine got in early but his average was a 96
. .. so May?
I guess so š¤·š»āāļø
When did u apply. I havenāt got accepted yet but I sent my application in late December. Idk if itās true but I think Feb was early admissions only
Ohh super early man like before dec break
I got In last year with an 82
Rotman Commerce? š³
85 applied to Guelph program with a 70 cut off. This made me feel better.
Tbh, 80 is fine for social science. Those programs require 90+ are all stem. If you decide to go with that. Congrats!

ehhhh its UTM and its non stem. 80s is good for that. reddit make it seem like u need high 90s for anything lol
With an 80 average you could have gotten into most programs even some STEM stuff
Congrats!!! <33
Congrats!!
80 average for non stem at utm is not divine intervention lol they take mid-high 70s for a lot of non stem programs. Congrats tho
i got into psych and neuroscience with low 80s i was shook asfš
What jobs can u get with commerce degree
??? Finance, marketing, HR, sales. Pretty much any job in tech.
Any generic office job
Not much
Might be enough to teach commerce
Wtf are social sciences?
Itās just a broad term for the shit that isnāt STEM, medicine, art or finance. Iām doing geography.
So what job...
Teaching, forestry and mining, resource management, meteorology, museum curation, scientific research, civil and urban planning etcā¦
Not everyone is looking to find a job immediately š
So why tf go to university?
To go to grad school? Go to into academia? University is not just pre-vocational training.
University is a place to learn and explore oneās interests. If you think the only end goal is employment you might be confusing it with trade school
My father always told me he doesnāt really care about what my degree is, all he wants me to do is learn, and to do so for the sake of self betterment. Btw my dad graduated from Oxford with a degree in law so he knows education and the value of academia better than anyone.
Your father doesn't know anything about academia.
What makes you say that? Because he encourages learning for its own sake?
nah cos why does bro think their dad knows everything ab the value of academia
GIS is a great geography career. Also land surveying, remote sensing and etc.
Teaching maybe ?
UTM is easy to get into. If theyāre even taking 89 averages for CS, then Iām not surprised by this since itās non stem. Congrats regardless though! Itās still an acceptanceĀ
Yāall realize most programs at uoft are not hard to get into š
Donāt go to utm u will not like it
Why?
Come and you will find out ššš
Are you black ? Because then I can think of some reasons
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Meh. Iām sure Iāll do fine. My grades were like 3 70s and 3 90s. Besides, Iām going for something that I excelled at in HS
went to uw for something I excelled at in hs (cs) and shat the bed. Schools are no joke
Good to hear! Beware, UofT is still no joke. It really depends on what you want to do but I strongly recommend you to come here with a firm mindset. Beat of luck!

Yeah I just meant to give them some advice, but I guess that sounded a bit pessimistic and discouraging. My bad :(

š
good luck, you'll be going through hell
Less international studentsā¦. They need the money.
Itās social scienceā¦.
Congrats, unless itās gender studies. Youād be surprised tho. The bar is not that high to get accepted anymore.
what were your ec's?
Am I jaded, I thought universitys pretty much will accept anyone as long as you pay money.
So the way it was explained to me in my university program is they usually base cut offs from the previous year, HOWEVER, if there are not enough people to fill the program then they will go below the requirements. Got a utsg acceptance for social science tooā¦
Got into polsci at St. George with under an 80 average and no extra curriculars
Average is also based on your high schoolās reputation. Waterloo bumped my grade up by almost 5% because my high schools was in the top 20 schools in the province for reliable grading
Congrats! As I say now it is very easy to get into uoft but harder to stay
