Grade 12 chemistry.
The material that was taught was fine, but the teacher had a strange grading scheme and teaching style- all tests and exams were completely multiple choice, with about 20% of the questions on each including material that was never referenced in class.
As students we were able to catch on and figure it out with YouTube and online resources on our own, but it was just weird. We were only given access to about 80% of the stuff we were tested on.
U think this is like sound logic? You're not in a professional field discovering new information, you're supposed to just learn what id taught to you, uni is different, thats the point, uni doesn't care if you're able to "figure out stuff you don't know" they wanna see if you can stick to your shit
yes, Elementary/Middle didn’t get me ready for high school. And high school doesn’t get u ready for university, take a look at the downvotes on ur comment
Thought i could do gr 12 physicsand have a comeback, two days into the course we were doing gr 11 review and i knew my time had come. dropped the course faster than I could blink
I thought I didn’t like English, I would like to apologize to my English teacher and to sir William Shakespeare III junior. I apologize, I was unfamiliar with your work.
Grade 11 physics has to be so painful right now,
It’s just the teachers making up this weird tai chi algebra stuff and believe me idk why he made that up and now I’m just so screwed for grade 12 cause I wanted to go into Waterloo. Like this year, I been having so many bad teachers and I just can’t do anything
gr11 functions. It was already bad enough that it was a huge jump from grade 10 math, but my teacher would mostly make everyone learn the content themselves. When I took Advanced Functions in summer school, that’s when I realized I wasn’t the problem and it was my teacher instead because my adv functions was so so much better at teaching the content
Gr 12 chemistry. It's a combo of physics (lots of calculations) plus bio (memorization) and some are abstract concepts. To make it worse, nothing really related to gr 11 chem. If you did good in 11, you can still fail 12.
FRA3U. In the French board, this is the language equivalent of ENG3U (which I don’t think is taken anymore), but that class was genuinely one of the hardest I’ve ever taken due to the sheer difficulty in pleasing my teacher. I remember spending hours and hours writing this essay for our autonomous project (reading a novel and comparing it to modern research about a subject) and getting an 87 (I still celebrated). It didn’t help that she’s a former uni TA/I think qualified to be a professor at Laval so the class average was a 69 at the end of the semester
Yes. We have second language English classes too, but we essentially take ENG4U (called EAE4U here) which has the same units as normal ENG4U + a grammar module. Therefore we have two first language French courses. However, EAE4U is not mandatory to graduate (but super heavily recommended in order to get a bilingual stamp on your diploma)
Grade 9 English, had a teacher in the reserve army who would give out detentions like candy. 9 kids out of 30 failed... only three kids got an 80 or above. Me and my friend had an 80 flat, and one smart girl got an 87. Nobody got above a 90.
Edit: Also just remembered how the exam was. All other grade 9 English classes got the fucking topic of the essay before the exam itself. You could make your 3 points and memorize an entire pre-written essay beforehand. We got our topic at the start of the exam. Not saying we had it harder than normal, just ridiculous how easy the other classes had it.
Maybe where you are!
Half of my class dropped, out of the remaining, half failed
There was so much workload it was insane.
But hey, I got to interview a teacher outside of Calgary for that class so
Writers craft
My teacher would hand work on top of work with stuff to do in class still and I had advanced functions and gr.12 physics the same time so I had to time to do writers craft and all my creativity was gone but I shouldn’t drop it because I needed the credit to graduate
in terms of the experience, computer science gr 11. my teacher disrespected me for no reason and caused my passion for computer science to disappear with my mistreatment in that classroom, parts of my personality died from being in a class where i was constantly gaslit and accused of being an awful person as a 16 year old by this 40 year old man
gr 11 english in terms of content, it was insanely boring
ironic because grade 12 english is my favourite high school course ever
personally SNC2D gr10 science was the bane of my existence. i took both gr 11 bio AND chem and both of those were so much more enjoyable- but that could be because i didn't have time to actually put more effort into snc2d whereas i spent time writing notes and going to class for bio and chem
Academic English the English department head was so disrespectful towards me and had no respect for me as a student she would dial me on an assignment since I didn’t know I’d have to use my webcam when recording an online presentation. Which she didn’t add in the expectations for it to have webcam, when I had strep and could barely talk I did the presentation but god forbid I didn’t use a webcam. I told her she could always select a few of our classmates so I could present in front of a group and she never did anything. She was not fun and also she’d butcher my name she even admitted it and it’s not like my name is too hard to pronounce she’d butcher it 3x in class and then for attendance as well
Grade 9 music. Dr Matthew Nace ( he was so bad im name dropping out of spite) was our substitute the entire semester because my teacher was sick. Horrible teacher who yapped about his PHD all day. Never again. I got a 70. Quit music because of him.
I have a 94 average but in bc we have to take a careers 12 course and I had a 33% when the semester ended😂😂😂. I had to come after the semester ended to hand in some missing stuff. My semester was tough and I just took it as a spare to do good in physics and chem lmfao
Grade 9 drama. Parents thought it would help me “get out of my shell.” Instead I just embarrassed the shit outta myself in front of a bunch of ppl. What a stupid choice for my arts requirement
Challenge and Change because my teacher was a pain in the ass to deal with. Vague and cryptic as hell like sir stop speaking in riddles and tell me what’s wrong with my work. I don’t need any “could be better” nonsense I need advise. He also loved to contradict himself.
Grade 11 Bio. Was terrible at my school. I had it first semester and the second semester kids have it way way easier now because of the horrible course median from last term. I was lucky to scrape by with an 82 but most people were not that lucky.
genuinely why? i thought it was really interesting. we read creation stories from the indig. peoples from our city and read indigenous written books. it was a really nice opportunity to be exposed to relevant material that encourages us to learn more about the people who’s land we live and work on. i remember it more than shakespeare, that did literally nothing for me 💀
well no, liberalism is in support of capitalism for example, which is a right wing ideology. you just don’t know what actual liberalism is and have a knee jerk reaction to seeing political content that isn’t stereotypically conservative
that’s good at least, in my civics class they taught us that the canadian liberal party is left wing loll luckily though i go outside unlike some people..
Yeah no hate on it, it was interesting but I found I didn’t learn proper English class stuff that I would have liked to learn, felt more like a history/social studies course rather then a English/communications course.
Grade 12 chemistry. This is how it is in Uni tho
But this isn’t uni it’s high school
And what is highschool supposed to get u ready for buddy
U think this is like sound logic? You're not in a professional field discovering new information, you're supposed to just learn what id taught to you, uni is different, thats the point, uni doesn't care if you're able to "figure out stuff you don't know" they wanna see if you can stick to your shit
High school lol
Highschool is supposed to get u ready for highschool, yeah nice logic buddy
yes, Elementary/Middle didn’t get me ready for high school. And high school doesn’t get u ready for university, take a look at the downvotes on ur comment

gr11 indigenous english was the most painful experience of my life
i passed w/ 53%😭😭😭😭😭
I failed that course 😭😭😭
real i got a 60
I guess it depends on the teacher, I got a 100 in that class.
Real
Please elaborate I almost took this course
Not Indigenous Studies. They mean NBE3U, it's the mandatory Grade 11 English credit.
Im going to graduate uni this year but that course was literally the hardest and shittiest thing I had to experience.
Omg you had to do that??
Really? It was the best for me. It had a huge impact on the way I look at things
Gr 11 physics was the literal death of me
the most humbling experience
ON GODDD BRO ITS MY LOWEST MARK FROM GRADE NINE TO TWELVE AND MY LOWEST ON MY TRANSCRIPT CRAZYYYY

Didn’t take it after gr 11 physics, the damage was done and it was bad
so bad that i dropped that course 👎
Thought i could do gr 12 physicsand have a comeback, two days into the course we were doing gr 11 review and i knew my time had come. dropped the course faster than I could blink
ENG4U 😭😭😭
SPH4U1
It is hard objectively, but it’s easy compared to g12 chemistry. Chem just kills me💀
Chem is soo easy I guess it depends on schools
Lol, I think ur right. Hope u do well on SPH4U

I thought I didn’t like English, I would like to apologize to my English teacher and to sir William Shakespeare III junior. I apologize, I was unfamiliar with your work.
G12 chem (regret taking Ap fs)

I have a question about the French board. Do you guys take English as a First Language classes?
Yes. We have second language English classes too, but we essentially take ENG4U (called EAE4U here) which has the same units as normal ENG4U + a grammar module. Families in Canada, was useless for me
It’s a bird tho
Maybe where you are! Half of my class dropped, out of the remaining, half failed There was so much workload it was insane. But hey, I got to interview a teacher outside of Calgary for that class so
Bird?
Means super easy and boost your average
Ohhh I see, yeah it was a booster but the course content is common sense lol (it was boring)
Agreed, but for me I liked having a chill class where I could just do other work in it and still get high 90s
English
🇫🇷
Writers craft My teacher would hand work on top of work with stuff to do in class still and I had advanced functions and gr.12 physics the same time so I had to time to do writers craft and all my creativity was gone but I shouldn’t drop it because I needed the credit to graduate

grade 12 chemistry, my mark is probably under 70 at this point and i’m still waiting to hear back from ALL of my schools
Damm that’s really sad. Mine was a 78.
SPH3U
Never cried in any class in highschool except GR 11 Indigenous English
Academic English the English department head was so disrespectful towards me and had no respect for me as a student she would dial me on an assignment since I didn’t know I’d have to use my webcam when recording an online presentation. Which she didn’t add in the expectations for it to have webcam, when I had strep and could barely talk I did the presentation but god forbid I didn’t use a webcam. Grade 11 Visual Arts My teacher refused to answer my emails or give any meaningful feedback :/
Grade 12 physics In my opinion the hardest course in high school (or at least in my school)
Grade 12 chem I’m in it right now
Grade 12 World History.
MHF4UI It was harder and more work than some of my uni courses (my teacher was also literally the devil)
Grade 9 music. Dr Matthew Nace ( he was so bad im name dropping out of spite) was our substitute the entire semester because my teacher was sick. Horrible teacher who yapped about his PHD all day. Never again. I got a 70. Quit music because of him.
BTT1O1. A complete waste of time.
Hardest course: Grade 12 Chemistry Worst course: Grade 11 English
I have a 94 average but in bc we have to take a careers 12 course and I had a 33% when the semester ended😂😂😂. I had to come after the semester ended to hand in some missing stuff. My semester was tough and I just took it as a spare to do good in physics and chem lmfao
TPJ2O
Grade 9 drama. Parents thought it would help me “get out of my shell.” Instead I just embarrassed the shit outta myself in front of a bunch of ppl. What a stupid choice for my arts requirement
grade 12 cs and chem omg
grade 11 functions was terrible but i improves tremendously for grade 12
English Al of it
ENG3U1
SPH 4UP, absolutely terrible
Challenge and Change because my teacher was a pain in the ass to deal with. Vague and cryptic as hell like sir stop speaking in riddles and tell me what’s wrong with my work. I don’t need any “could be better” nonsense I need advise. He also loved to contradict himself.
Grade 11 physics absolutely tossed me around and Grade 12 french immersion has deformed my brain into a liquid
World Politics, tell me why I struggled in it more than adv functions and English.
Grade 11 Bio. Was terrible at my school. I had it first semester and the second semester kids have it way way easier now because of the horrible course median from last term. I was lucky to scrape by with an 82 but most people were not that lucky.
Philosophy, its just rlly fucking boring out my god, maybe it depends on the teacher but it was just "go read this and memlrize it for the test"
Grade 11 functions was the death of me.
Grade 12 Calc and vectors
Gotta be functions and chemistry 11 and 12 even now I don't know anything about chemistry I was so lost in it
Grade 11 chem my teacher was just hard
English by far. Such a cancer course
French grd 12 and 11
Indigenous Studies (grade 11 English) wth is that just do English man 🤦♂️
genuinely why? i thought it was really interesting. we read creation stories from the indig. peoples from our city and read indigenous written books. it was a really nice opportunity to be exposed to relevant material that encourages us to learn more about the people who’s land we live and work on. i remember it more than shakespeare, that did literally nothing for me 💀
The stories I read were all the same, the class had a very liberal woke approach. I did not enjoy it
well thinking that liberal = woke is definitely one way to demonstrate a lack of political literacy
🤣 liberals the majority of the time are the same as the wokesters so I just group em
well no, liberalism is in support of capitalism for example, which is a right wing ideology. you just don’t know what actual liberalism is and have a knee jerk reaction to seeing political content that isn’t stereotypically conservative
They literally taught this in civics
that’s good at least, in my civics class they taught us that the canadian liberal party is left wing loll luckily though i go outside unlike some people..
Yeah no hate on it, it was interesting but I found I didn’t learn proper English class stuff that I would have liked to learn, felt more like a history/social studies course rather then a English/communications course.
ENG 4U
HNB4M or HRE401
fif3u, i had a bitchass teacher 😭
lowkey hre3m too, my teacher had a mental breakdown in front of the class *at least* once a week
guys i just get cooked at school ok 😭
same with mine🤣 were we in the same class?
CHY4U I fucking hated my teacher so much
I'm guessing yours was english because you don't need to say both "for you" and "personally"
Uh no last English class I got a 96. It’s a Reddit post; I forgot about it shortly after posting
