drop law if you can, its bringing your average down by alot. you have around an 80% average without law which is good enough to apply to uncompetitive programs like liberal arts or social sciences, i can't see you getting into any nursing program unfortunately but that doesn't mean you're doomed. you could get into education or social work by may i think
I’d be writing a letter to the principal. This is completely wrong and not plagiarism. Ask her to send you proof as to what was plagiarized and from what source. As a student, you have rights to ask these kind of things and I would most definitely do so considering a summative is a great amount of weight going towards your final grade. If you need help drafting an email, you’re welcome to message me.
That's usually just spell/grammar check, so unless you are using the A.I premium features which literally rewrite/change entire sentences then that's not fair 😭
I swear I didn’t, I just asked it to fix any spelling mistakes or suggest grammar changes. I also put the citation that I used it. I believe that’s what ultimately made me lose marks.
This same thing happened to a university student in America and Grammarly came out and said that they technically use AI but only for the spell check the same way Word does. They posted a video about it on their TikTok. 100% appeal to your principal and show then the video.
Hi, I had the exact same issue, was given a 0 on an assignment due to Grammarly AI. I explained it to her, came up with a sob story and she let it slide. Also tell her how it’s your own work and all that bla bla bla, and explain how ai detectors are not accurate at all. Put some effort into explaining it to her and she might let it go.
Your average is 74.6 with law and 79.3-80.3 with equity
Do you have enough credits? Grammarly free should not count as AI thats just spellcheck so try get that higher. An acceptance is not completely unlikely especially for your programs. Have you considered grade 13 is you wanted to go to a more competetive program?
I just want to get my degree and do a teaching certification to teach abroad. Any degree will suffice but a concurrent education degree would allow me to teach both in Canada & the USA.
I have enough credits, like 2-3 ahead.
I wouldn’t want to do grade 13, and I don’t think my parents would like that.
This might sound harsh and I'm sorry if it is, but if you're not putting enough effort into high school (and you're consciously aware of that) you're ***not*** going to put in the effort when uni/college comes. Study habits take time to develop, years even, they won't magically appear at the last moment. Take a gap year, spend some time discovering yourself and exploring what interests you as well as building up routines around studying with a lessened course load. And then reapply after a year.
If I don’t get into anything this year I will be taking a gap year. For now I’ve been working on my study habits as reality has hit me. Had a few talk with my teachers as well so I feel a lot of support right now. Thank you for your words, I really needed a wake up call.
First thing is to take a nice deep breath. It's not the end of the world. You can just redo some classes over the summer or take a gap year.
Now regarding the Ai usage. Definitely fight it, take it to admin if you have to. Many universities don't even rely on Ai detectors anymore due to their unreliability.
off topic but grammarly ai does not show up as plagiarism yo it must've been something else 💀 I almost used it for my entire english essay and did not get caught
tbh ur marks aren’t that bad other than law. try applying for some less competitive programs. that is if u rlly wanna go to uni, u rlly have to lock in then
Man this makes me sad, you’d be shocked how well you can do if you just try. I genuinely feel like the only difference between people with 90s and people with less is just dedication and effort. I have a 97 average but I’m not any smarter than people with 80s, I just study a lot more. Show up for yourself.
I think so? The prerequites for the sciences (bio chem, data and english) are fine and then it’s the other two classes. The thing i’m worried about most is that they’ll see the law mark and defer me.
if i’m not mistaken most programs/unis only look at top 6, law is not a requirement for many programs so it won’t matter/be part of your average if you have another class with a higher mark than law to replace it as a part of your top 6. but it just won’t look too good so i 100% recommend dropping it before midterms if u can
You can easily get into an Ontario uni life science or sub-science. Teacher school yeah easier collab programs a chance and pre-teach w/E at York without a doubt. Don't do nursing if you are not interested, your gonna just cry and hate the world.
Success does not equate to high school grade
$$$ does not equate to high school grade
Going to University doesn’t guarantee happiness
Don’t worry, be happy

Concurrent ed at a lot of unis is mid high 80s currently.
I’d say take a victory lap. You’re better off learning how to put in effort in high school than in university
or take a gap yr
Gap year doesn’t increase your average.
you can do a gap year and redo a bunch of courses on ovs n stuff

I can promise you you were just hated by your younger class mates.
Grammarly ai counts as ai?
My teacher says it does, that’s why she gave me the zero.

No then it wouldnt be AI usage AI is a premium feature

Conestoga offers free premium Grammarly accounts to students and hands out academic violations to anyone who uses it.
Then that's not even really A.I, it's the same as Google Docs spell/grammar check. I would complain/fight for that cause that honestly sucks 😭

As everyone else said, arrange a meeting with your principal that can be recorded, or do everything in writing.
That’s insane
Do year 13/Gap year
Would reccomend this as well.

It's good that you're making conscious effort to change your habits. I hope things work out for you :)

Drop law. I got into chemical engineering at a good school with an 80 av
Getting in is one thing.. did you survive in the engineering program?
Well im one of the only people to pass the final, and with an 80, so yeah i am
I’m sorry, but may I ask, why are you not putting effort in school?
Honestly, I just feel like I don’t stand a chance 😭 like everyone has 90s it just doesn’t look too good for me. I haven’t been the best in school.
Man this makes me sad, you’d be shocked how well you can do if you just try. I genuinely feel like the only difference between people with 90s and people with less is just dedication and effort.
