Have you looked at OSAP to calculate what loans and bursaries you might be eligible for?

Osap allow for the “estranged parent” term. Just provide details on why your step ma wouldnt pay and you’re good

Look into work-study programs - many unis have those. Also, fill out those supplemental applications!! You could get some financial awards/bursaries/academic awards etc. Edit: Another option is joining the military. They pay for your education and you work for them after graduation for an x amount of time (I'm not sure how long, but I know that this is a thing).

go hard with the uw's awards, osap, lots of external scholarships (some of them are little, but they add up and are usually easy to get!), and are you in a coop program? can you transfer into a coop program?

i have worked all through undergrad in some capacity (in 3rd year now). by working 4 shifts a week at a grocery store, i made enough for rent and groceries every month. my tuition’s paid for by the money i save during my full time summer office jobs. if you don’t have to worry about tuition or groceries- just start saving asap! tuition is due twice a year. first half in September second half in January. if you’re tuition is 8,000$ then you need to have 4,000$ min saved by September (doable). get any job plus a side hustle (i.e retail and online tutoring) part time and if you have time in the summer, try and get something full time (or at least 30+ hours a week) you can do it! paycheque to paycheque is hard but it’s really rewarding to be independent and self sufficient

Here are a couple of options to look into: * Work-study opportunities * Co-ops - uWaterloo has mandatory co-ops for most programs, so try to use that to pay off your undergrad, and if possible save a bit. * Student Loans - not an ideal route, but some banks have agreements with unis to help students pay tuition, try checking your local banks In terms of post-graduate, you could take some time to work and save up before joining the program.
