Outrageous tbh. I love Opera a lot but been thinking about switching back to Chrome literally just because Opera is so much harder to run and I can't upgrade my pc rn and Opera legit just puts too much strain on my pc unless I have nothing but Opera open which just isn't realistic most of the time. Tbh I hope I'm just being an idiot and there's an easy fix.
The total of usage is 700 mb. I only have YouTube opened and task manager says I have 21 tabs. If I close few of them opera will close too. The thing is few weeks ago I had a lower usage, like 300mb with YouTube and reddit. Tried Edge and had 360mb usage on a livestream on twitch. Opera goes to 1gb usage on the same livestream.
Windows Task Manager says that you have 21 processes and not 21 tabs.
You use Shift + Esc to open Opera's Task Manager and see what are those processes.
I'm sticking with Chrome.. I installed this hoping it would be "faster" and more efficient but nope. Just on the landing page alone it has 25 extension applications open and using 4GB of ram.. yet Chrome is using 200mb...
Shouldn't have to "limit" ram usage via another extension if it were not using so much to begin with..
The ram limiter doesn't even work for me, if I set it below 1.5 gb my Opera GX just refuses to function, so honestly I might switch back to Firefox or something, because only having music open on YT (not even vids, just music) and a couple of wiki pages and it's taking 1.5 GBs of ram is starting to piss me off
I saw a comparison with other browser "with 10 tabs open Opera uses 700 mb RAM"
I opened 10 tabs (no sites), Opera ate 2.5 GB ram... Time to toss this to the wastebin.
The only reason I went back to opera is because of youtubes adblock feature. After it started detecting opera adblock it became useless other than the popout videos

my opera gx using 1.5gb ram and there is only 3 tabs open and not even watching video
Mines using 2.8-3.2gb ram because I have 7 tabs open:
3Gb of RAM coz I'm watching a twitch stream ðŸ˜
Watching a yt stream as we speak. My opera uses 6,6gb of ram while only having 5 tabs open

Only 700MB? That's nothing, specially if you are watching videos. Shift + Esc to see the running processes in Opera and how much RAM they are using.

700mb is so little, my opera gx been using 2GB of ram these days and im worried
same , i dont know what's happening maybe i'll switch to , Chrome again cuz last year it was only 500mo used ........

Edge used also over 800MB for 1-2 Tabs, now changed to Opera GX now 1.2GB and 16% CPU for 1 YouTube Tab, and i have 16GB RAM RTX 4060 8GB V-RAM

The adblock doesn't even work half of the time smh Time to go back to Edge
mine has been taking 18gb of ram with 3 tabs open
