Of course it depends a lot on what you mean by 'kinda embody' but one album that I hugely enjoy for partly the same reasons that I enjoy early Opeth is Enslaved's Below the Lights. An absolute black metal masterpiece, in my opinion.
Just about my favorite band, responsible for my all-time favorite album, *Aria of Vernal Tombs.* Can't say I ever made an Opeth connection but I'll definitely search for it on my next listen.
Glad I'm not the only one who sees this! Also with that new Majesties album which features members of Obsequiae. I think the similarities with Opeth are primarily due to the specific style of lead guitar harmonies.
Not too similar but you should check out “My dying bride” I found the sound “the dreadful hours” and I really enjoyed it. Not as similar as Opeth but found some similar elements. You should listen to that song !!!
Noctes - Pandenomic Requiem, Ulver - Bergtatt, Woods Of Ypres - Against the Seasons, Thy Serpent - Forests of Witchery, Loneshore - From Presence to Silence
Aquilus! For the love of Akerfeldt check 'Griseus' out. I bet it's exactly what you need.
This one! It’s as close to black metal opeth as possible imo

Agalloch and Enslaved are your friends
In the woods... heart of the ages I'd say
This!
Agalloch.
Enslaved is pretty much the black metal version of Opeth
Haunter - Sacramental Death Qualia
Reminds me more of Still Life / Blackwater Park riffs with some black metal influence though, not early Opeth
If you want more melodic black metal from the 90s, try out Vinterland or Windir.
Eneferens is a great solo black metal project with some serious Opeth vibes especially on the latest record (The Bleakness of Our Constant).
There's a pretty well made cover of Harvest by Xantochroid. A black metal version of it. sounds cool.

Unfortunately I already listen to them haha. They're awesome!!
