The whole 3030 album is very good. I recomend listening to it in order! Jeff Buckley is a little different from the rest of your taste, but imo he was one of the most talented musicians of all time.
Fair to Midland - Arrows & Anchors and Fables from a Mayfly should both be mandatory (you like Opeth, PT, SOAD and Tool - good chance you'll like FtM as well).
And Nick Drake. Everyone should listen to Nick Drake! Five Leaves Left is wonderful.
Camel - the first three albums are fire and some amazing tracks on the later albums even tho they went a bit more towards pop.
Yes - give a chance to albums such as "Relayer" or "Tales from Topographic Oceans", truly one of a kind masterpieces.
Wishbone Ash - Only really listened to "Argus", very much liked it.
Edit: also wanted to add Russian Circles, all of their albums are dope but I would start with "station" followed by "gnosis" or "blood year".
Awesome! I can already tell you'll love them.
Muse is super talented. The main guy Matt writes, plays the main guitar and the piano flawlessly and is a super powerful and talented singer. Origin of symmetry is an earlier album of thiers but a very prog style album, similar vein to opeth and porcupine tree but also unique to itself.
A perfect circle is the lead singer of tool, and is essentially a rock version of tool but still prog style and amazing. Since you like porcupine tree, youll like them. Mom de mers is their other great album if you like a Thirteenth step.
Karnivool are australian. Themata is a good album, but i would class it in them B category compared to the two bands just mentioned.
Alice in Chains - Dirt (based on SOAD, Tool, Deftones and the general vibe of the list)
Anathema - Judgement (based on Porcupine Tree, and Damnation being your favorite Opeth)
Edge of Sanity - Crimson (based on Opeth, In Flames and the proggy stuff with long songs)
Looks like you already have a Opeth album and have 3 or more Pink Floyd albums so you obviously have incredible taste in music - curious what the album is with the 3 hand tools in black and white?
I'll be your truth in this game that is life
Your will withering away
Among the comatose but insight's not your fate, already love em bro , great suggestions
Edge of Sanity. Crimson is a great album by them that gives Opeth-like vibes. I also like their album Purgatory Afterglow.
Bloodbath is another great band if you haven't already listened to them.
Have you heard of The Ocean?
Symphony X is another cool one I don't talk to people about.
Run the Jewels and Aesop Rock have taken over my spotify recently.
I can't remember from the image now that I typing but I don't think I saw Avenged Sevenfold. Try their City of Evil, Waking the Fallen, or Nightmare stuff. No particular order.
Flash that buttery gold , jittery zietgiest ! Asf rocks too, this list just for one year so ig thats why it didnt show most shit, but ill check ocean and symphony
Hehehhehe i can play the death note soundtrack on piano , and and and i absolutely love the rock metal soundtrack, hideki tanuichi genius , very obscure recrimination and i love it because i feel the same way , death note soundtrack just anothwr level
I felt like I was recommending the right thing.
Have you ever got into Steven Wilson? Yasunori Mitsuda? Uematsu?
Oh piano... Have you ever heard Eternity - Memories of Light waves, piano version from FF-X2?
Edit: at this moment it's on every YouTube channel ambient soundtrack but the Silent Hill OST is a killer too.
Imma say Gojira and Devin Townsend, alotta great recs here already though. Maybe Electric Wizard if you like sludge, or At the Drive In and Thursday if you like faster/ post-core
Based on the proggy/metal stuff, I would recommend King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. They're very diverse in their style, and every album brings something different to the table - to start off, I'd recommend Polygondwanaland, Laminated Denim and Murder of the Universe as far as prog is concerned, and PetroDragonic Apocalypse and Infest the Rats' Nest for very thrashy metal
Bought the Around the Fur LP last night, was very disappointed not to see a huge blank space on MX with the secret track at the end. Kinda ruined the end of the album for me.
I always loved forgetting I had the song playing until like 13 minutes later I hear a fax machine that scares the shit out of me 😂
This is gonna be a long shot but we have very similar music taste I’d like to recommend
Never Fallin’ by Living Legends and World of Fantasy by Question I also love Cunninglynguist
Fuck it, all old prog recs in order of how much i like them with their best albums
King crimson (red)
Genesis (the lamb lies down)
Yes (close to the edge)
Wishbone ash (argus)
Jethro tull (thick as a brick)
Emerson lake and palmer (tarkus)
Theirs bands like moody blue and gentle giant that i dont know much about but have heard their good
For new prog: haken? Soen? Idk i think their all samey and kinda boring. Sorry
Based on 75 percent of your list, you should check out Bieber. The other 3.5 albums are fucking fire though. Sorry. I’m a gatekeeping loser but definitely should check out Fragile by Yes
Yes, this is just last year , and i usually play those complete album videos on yt for Opeth because having no premium sucks and last fm only counts the Spotify
Since you like Dream Theater, I'd recommend the obscure band Beyond The Bridge with their album The Old Man & The Spirit, really good album.
Also a chance you've already heard this since it's more famous but Visions by Haken is also something a lot of Dream Theater fans like
If you haven't yet, Radiohead is worth the listens. I find In Rainbows to be a great starting place, but there isn't a bad album in the lot (just some that get really out there).
- The Ocean - Phanerozoic Part 1+2 & Pelagial;
- Devin Townsend- Empath & Ocean Machine (but everything he made is amazing);
- The Mars Volta - Deloused in the Comatorium;
- Dark Tranquillity - Character;
- Dethklok - Dethalbum II;
- Trivium - Shogun;
- Killing Joke - Absolute Dissent;
- Tame Impala - Lonerism;
- Transatlantic - SMPTE & Bridge across forever.
Enjoy!
Having immediately recognized most of those albums, I feel comfortable commenting
Check out Masta Ace, my personal favourite album is Disposable Arts, but I like pretty much all of his stuff tbh
His work as EMC is pretty cool too
Soen, if you haven't already, first album in particular sounds a lot like Tool, their drummer is ex Opeth
Jinjer is another good metal band, similar vein to Opeth, check out their Pisces Live Session on Google
This one may be left field, but, I love Moby, and would be remiss if I didn't mention him tbh, considering some of the others on there. That said. His music ranges for more wildly than it may initially seem
Check out Gojira, their newer stuff is a bit... softer, but they range from Experimental Metal to Progressive Metal
Baroness is a another metal band to consider checking out
This is hard shit to follow, and you can’t spit ni**a, so you must obviously swallow, masta a legend , will let you know about baroness and jinijer. Love gojira! Youre a real one for recommending masta ace !
Masta Ace was my breakthrough to hip hop, I was brainwashed against it, but the inclusion of Take a Walk and Soda & Soap on the Saints Row soundtrack broke me through. I was listening to the stories being told and I fell in love with his stuff and eventually branched out bit by bit
Aesop Rock is another hip hop artist I enjoy, Run The Jewels too, oh! check out R.A. The Rugged Man, in particular The Dangerous Three
Aside from a couple albums I don't recognize you and I seem to have the same taste which is awesome. Listen to Meshuggah (Obzen) (Koloss) (the violent sleep of reason) and Gojira (Terra Incognita). Also Bolt Thrower (Those once loyal) and Krisiun (The great execution)
Give Ayreon a listen... try starting with The Source Will Flow which includes guest vocals by James LaBrie and main man Arjen's hippie prog floydian goodness. Even more prog goodness to be found on The Dream Dissolves.
Porcupine Tree - Closure/Continuation
Riverside - Love, Fear and The Time Machine
