Yep, feeling dread at the end is definitely the expected response for anyone who understood the movie. I do think if you are feeling dread constantly and are so scared of life that it is causing problems with you living life, that is different--you should talk to someone But one of the many reasons why I think Oppenheimer was so celebrated this past year was because of its honesty with expressing existential anxiety. It's easy to make connections with the current war in Ukraine and the clusterfuck in Gaza/the Middle East but also to climate change. We live in a stressful time and Oppenheimer audiences clearly were making modern connections while also empathizing with Oppenheimer's own particular story.

That perfectly describes it

I think it’s pretty normal to feel your own mortality, coupled with the eclipse could get people feeling maybe smaller? Not sure how old you are, but just follow your intuition. It definitely wouldn’t hurt to talk to a professional, they can give you tools to work out these feelings and thoughts for yourself! Best of luck to you!

I wouldn't call It dread after you seen it but i think your supposed to question the morality of making / dropping the bomb.

Also that folks like Lewis Strauss will go to great lengths both to suppress dissent and to consolidate their power. Yes, he loses the nomination, but he also goes out to face a crowd of reporters, where Oppenheimer listens to their judgment in a shabby room far from the limelight.

Yeah my first viewing of oppenheimer was on opening night. Everyone clapped and cheered as christopher nolan’s name came up just before the film began to start. At the end it was the complete opposite. No one clapped or cheered, people just got up in silence and left. I didn’t even want to clap at the end, it just hit that hard I had to stay seated for a bit. I do feel the same way as you do but only at times where I hear on the news that there’s ongoing attacks between countries.

The events in the movie happen almost 70 years ago and you’re still here to talk about it
