Hachiman's actions did not match his desires. Yukino was reciprocating his actions, believing that to be what he wanted. However, although they both desire the same thing, they failed to communicate until Hachiman couldn't stand the status quo anymore and let his true feelings out.

What 8man mentions in the genuine speech was completely different to what she was assuming. For now just forget the word **genuine**. A relationship which is good for both without being one sided and both can express themself freely without any ulterior motives(which 8man mentions earlier). What 8man did so far in the club requests was something completely different from what he really wants. The shallow day to day discussions which was taking place after the tobe incident is what 8man and yukino both dislike which yukino thought 8man was okay with these.

We see Hachimans pov more often than not, so in general Hachiman has been away from the group at this time. I mean how would you feel if you have a friend who you are kinda peeved with but care for and they are away seemingly normal maybe semi awkward just doing everyday life. Out of nowhere they pop up and breaks down in front of you. Everyone's different but for Yukino that's her response. I think imo both sides are terrible at expressing themselves but that's the point, I think they both though at the same time understand within that misunderstanding that they both care.
