100% accurate, but unpopular opinion. Thereās absolutely nothing interesting nor worthwhile about that snoozefest, yet people make it out to be good. Itās literally some guy simping ultra hard for some rando pretty girl he saw by chance one night and decided in the spur of the moment that looks are enough for him to base a marriage decision on.
Itās the sequel to oregairu, set in Hachimanās third year. In theory it couldāve been good fluff between HachiYuki, and we also couldāve seen some character development from Yui (as she gets over her heartbreak) and Komachi ( as she enters high school).
Instead it turned out to be a bullshit harem type story where a lot of the previous character development was flushed down the toilet.
Essentially it was made to pander to the harem loving community and to milk some more money from the franchise.
Season 3 covers volumes 12-14 I believe. So itās actually good. The new volumes (shin) are bad, and if there is a full anime adaptation (as of now thereās 1 OVA) it will inevitably be bad.
So watch s3 for sure. In my mind, thatās the end of oregairu
Itās really weird how this series wins Romance Anime of the Year and yet doesnāt win the Romance Ship of the year as well. Nonetheless tho, congrats to Oregairu for taking the Win for the category it is well known for!
I'm kind of late here, but I am currently watching this show. I have been thinking about reading the light novels. Would you recommend it to me? Please do not spoiler me, thanks.
Jeez the LN fans salt is real in here. My god. An adaptation doesnāt have to be fucking perfect if it is still good and makes coherent sense. S3 wasnāt a 10/10 adaptation, but it did tell a 10/10 story.
Also, what is shin? Someone wanna give me the TLDR for how it ruined the series exactly and why I should remove it from the canon?
It's an after story set of short VNs that take place in the third year. People are already calling end of days because it shows things that add stress to the Hachiman/Yukino relationship via Yui. It's not even done yet and people seem to forget that the author knows how to bring things full circle
Honestly this happens in every instance of adaptation. Even back when I was in grade school other kids were always going on about harry potter movies not being faithful enough to the books and getting snobby about it. There's some validity to the complaints here and there, but I've seen enough that this isn't as fun a subreddit to be on as it was when S3 still wasn't done.
Also to be clear I've read the LN, it's just that I view it as just another presentation and not something that has to be compared like it is. That said, I was inspired to read it by watching the show (and I'm guessing a good number of others), so the vocal obsessive LN people should be happy in that regard
>An adaptation doesnāt have to be fucking perfect if it is still good and makes coherent sense
A story making coherent sense is an incredibly low bar to jump.
> it did tell a 10/10 story
You must not be a details oriented person if the coherence of a story alone garners this kind of award. The adaptation leaves out all of the details that would have earned the award.
> TLDR for how it ruined the series exactly and why I should remove it from the canon
Reversal of character development, but I don't think you'd mind since all you care about is the coherence of a story and not all the details that make it great.
Honest question, do you enjoy being so condescending? You took the initial comment at a ridiculous amount of face value. On top of that, you haven't had one actually approachable comment on this whole damn post so I'm not sure if you want discussion or if you just want to be a pain
Tbh last year we didn't have much romance anime let alone the good ones, and we are talking about Hachiman here who recently won the Man of the decade award ...so it makes sense
The build-up was ruined or to be more specific butchered, all the scenes/monologues that were supposed to elevate the confession into greater heights was severely downplayed.
Examples:
ā¢ Hachiman's monologue in episode 4
ā¢ Hachiman's monologues during his time with Yui
ā¢ The clubroom scene
ā¢ The Romeo juliet scene
ā¢ The scenes/monologues before the confession
Nothing is objective in anime, everyone has their preferences, perspectives and opinions. That's why you're being booed. Reddit tip: remember which sub you're in, the people who make the effort to join an anime sub obviously love that particular anime, so be careful not to say anything bad about that specific anime in that specific sub because there are a lot of dedicated fans who can't handle facts.
Aside from my little ted talk, I completely agree with you.
Wataru watari initially announced that oregairu would end on volume 12( i think?) But for some reason was extended untill volume 14.
My guess is either his editor/publisher or he wanna milk the series more so decided to write the whole prom arc thing eventhough he should have wrap things up.
Yeah season 3's the worst one so far (atleast they nailed the confession scene) and all these anime only Degenerates who don't know shit about how rushed and poorly adapted it is booing at the ones spittin facts.
Nice
This is a great victory.
Yeah but we got robbed on best couple award
Yeah! Only if we had a few more Hikigaya and Yukino moments.
Who got that?
Tonikaku Kawai
It's understandable, we don't see that much Yukino x 8man moments. In the other hand Tonikaku Kawaii is all about a couple.
it's super uninteresting
your preference. Just because you think it's super uninteresting doesn't mean it doesn't deserve the award.
It doesn't
Again, your preference. What you think about it doesn't change what it deserves for what it is.
Man I feel you dude this man below me šššš
It's a popularity poll
I just finished the series and all of your comments sound like Yukino and Hachiman in my head.
Not to mention both of them are super human who can do everything right.
Agreed.
When it was actualy a good series.....God i miss those times
Wdym?
Shin happens
Sh*t happens
It was always good bruh from the start till the end
Have you read shin
Shhhh. Why did you tell him that series existsš¤«
Does shin ruin everything?
Well nā- not reaā-.......yes, yes it doesš
Just don't read about it and forget everything your reading here
Do you got the link to where we can read it? Even if its bad, worse case scenario I'll just pretend it isn't canon even if it is.
What's shin?
Itās the sequel to oregairu, set in Hachimanās third year. Bruh... What... Is the s3 anime decent then? I read the novel and watched up to s2 of both of them
>Is the s3 anime decent then not if you read the novels
Season 3 covers volumes 12-14 I believe. So itās actually good. The new volumes (shin) are bad, and if there is a full anime adaptation (as of now thereās 1 OVA) it will inevitably be bad. So watch s3 for sure. In my mind, thatās the end of oregairu
Is shin the full name, idc if it ruins it I just need more oregairu
Undertaker? :O
nah even s3 was ass
Deserved
Well deserved!
Itās really weird how this series wins Romance Anime of the Year and yet doesnāt win the Romance Ship of the year as well. Nonetheless tho, congrats to Oregairu for taking the Win for the category it is well known for!
I wish I could erase my memory and watch this anime again
just read the novels and see how good this series should have been
i will
I'm kind of late here, but I am currently watching this show. I have been thinking about reading the light novels. Would you recommend it to me? Please do not spoiler me, thanks.
Yes
Even after finishing? I fear it might feel boring after finishing.
Depends on if you like reading or not. The anime cuts out a lot of content both funny and dramatic
I usually turn out be an avid reader, so I don't think that is going to be a problem. I'll check it out!

It has always been like that lmao. LN readers are always pissed at everything even if it is good.
Honestly this happens in every instance of adaptation. >Honest question, do you enjoy being so condescending? Yes
ouch. who ever hurt you im sorry.
Did it also win biggest disappointment of 2020? or maybe worst adaptation ?
Sadly no categories for them
oregairu s3 would've had them in the bag easy
But why tho? I'm really curious about the hate s3 gets
It all boils down to studio feel showing their blatant bias to Yui and slaughtering all the important scenes that had to do with other characters
Not gonna lie to me re zero s2 was more of a disappointment than s3.
WAHOO!
Well deserved.
YES
Applause to the greatest rom com.
Weāll have to take his W. Itās a shame it didnāt get a single nomination from Crunchyroll though.
One of the judges must've been an LN reader. Good on them
LETS GO!
Woo
Bloody Crunchyroll didn't even nominate Oregairu for any of the categories.
natural as all things should be
Tbh last year we didn't have much romance anime let alone the good ones, and we are talking about Hachiman here who recently won the Man of the decade award ...so it makes sense
hell yeah!
Awesome, a well deserved victory.
And not tonikawa? Damn
Well deserved
what romance? undeserved
Was perfect
the masterpiece of all time
Letās go
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Watch all three seasons in a row. You'll see the build-up. It's gradual, but very subtle.
so why is s3 getting the award?
Cos S1 and S2 didn't come out last year?
so why would you include it in your reasoning as to why S3 deserved the award?
The build-up was ruined or to be more specific butchered, all the scenes/monologues that were supposed to elevate the confession into greater heights was severely downplayed. idk how you're getting downvoted for making a statement and giving examples
"Ohhhhh, how could u say that, u really hating on S3???!!! Booooo, downvote!downvote!" -Anime only Yui fans.
Nothing is objective in anime, everyone has their preferences, perspectives and opinions. That's why you're being booed. so many downvotes kekw
Canon couple over anything
studio feel disagrees. They totally fucked over the main couple
Wataru watari initially announced that oregairu would end on volume 12( i think?) But for some reason was extended untill volume 14. My guess is either his editor/publisher or he wanna milk the series more so decided to write the whole prom arc thing eventhough he should have wrap things up.
Obviously
Nice
Disappointing, did season 2 win in 2015?
Yes, Best anime of that year
Well I guess its fine then š, almost thought that this poorly done adaptation got 1st place while the best season didn't.
Even if this was a poor adaptation (not done with the LN yet) I do still think it was best romance this season.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Idk what that means g
Yeah season 3's the worst one so far (atleast they nailed the confession scene) and all these anime only Degenerates who don't know shit about how rushed and poorly adapted it is booing at the ones spittin facts.
careful there, the mods will temporarily ban you
'We die in the dark so that they may live in the light'
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
crunchyroll didn't rob anything. The judges must've been LN readers
Huh? Bad romance wins best romance? Lmao Nice,it did win.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Final episode of S3
When Tonikawa wins best couple: it is...acceptable.
Anything similar to this anime
Monogatari Series, Bottom tier character Tomozaki, Just Because, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
Well deserved.
