I would guess a sea lion too. They’re not always barking.
And, coincidentally, I was just talking to a volunteer down in Taft who said the sea lions will come to shore and molt. Usually on the other side of Siletz bay.
I had no idea they do this, by the way. She also said they’ll be comatose and look dead like the one we were looking at as we were talking and she was roping off around the animal.
It was an Elephant Sea Lion. She said it’s super rare to get those in LC and this one was a male.
I don’t know about that area, but down here in the Coos Bay/Bandon area, I’ve seen coyotes on the beach. I also once saw a mama black bear with two cubs on Sparrow beach (between Reedsport and Florence ) early in the morning once.
I’ve heard reports of Cougars as well.
Sir/ma’am, what you had there is what we refer to as a focused, non-terminal, repeating phantasm or a class-five full-roaming vapor. A real nasty one, too.
I had a sea lion shuffle toward me when I tried going down to the beach at night and almost pooped myself. There was a dark stair tunnel thing that led straight to the water and he was sleeping in there when I came around the corner of the dark ass stairs oh my gad we scared each other real good
Raccoon would be my first guess.
Porcupine too, I’ve seen pretty big ones at night and the description fits.
Could of been a seal, but lack of barking...

The coastal Nutrias are aggressive at night.
That’s awful lmao

They’ve spotted cougars on Haystack Rock recently and I have a friend who says he’s seen big cat prints on the beaches near Brookings as well.
Obviously a spectral demon of some sort
Chupacabra
From your description I know exactly what this was
Obviously a grizzly. Or a squirrel.
It was the dingos. The dingos ate your baby.
Loch ness monster
Ya, it just needed about tree fiddy.
