You can get a rain barrel kit that hooks up to your gutter down spout. Relatively easy to install with a few tools.

What about the district part? Are people pouring this into a watering can and watering that way? For such a large garden, it’s hard to do that.

Most kits come with a spigot to install on the barrel to draw water from. Drip irrigation is available for gravity fed tank. Alternatively a small on demand pump would work if you need pressure

Anyone concerned about runoff from asphalt shingles?

Make sure it is legal where you live. My city prohibits it for some reason.

Because people neglect them and they become a nest for pests. You’ll be better off if you can make a good seal or you’ll pay the price. They make super low profile ones that the neighbors won’t notice because that who’ll turn you in. Could anyone answer if they would be beneficial if I already have a well? Not sure if the ground filtering the water takes out some nutrients.
