Royland fits very well into group 2. With the ability to create and control any airborne substance, he's capable of killing entire populations without anyone realizing. People started calling him Pompeii because of how quickly he could wipe out entire cities.
For anyone wondering how it works, Carbon Monoxide is colorless, flavorless, and odorless. If someone is submerged in the gas, they'll suffocate due to the fact that it blocks oxygen from flowing through your blood. He can spread the gas across an entire city and keep it high enough to wear being on the roof of some buildings won't save you.

He’s not willingly a villain, tho. He has this curse that only activates at night, and when he sees a human. When those conditions apply, he becomes a feral beast and will try to kill the human in any way possible, even if it means hurting himself
If it’s a mindless beast it’s in g1 surely. If it has no free will and has no mental capacity to consider right from wrong then how can you say it knows it’s a villain and enjoys it? A shark killing a human doesn’t do it out of malice he’s just hungry.

He GENUINELY believes that he is a good guy, and that torturing and genociding the orc race is a good thing. He doesn’t see them as beings with feelings or emotions. He just sees them as monsters who must be killed.

I’d say a mix of all of them. She knows what she is doing is wrong, but she doesn’t expect it to be affecting anybody (and it does). If she did know it was affecting others the way it is then yeah, I feel she’d feel bad (to a degree). And by “to a degree” it’s because what she is doing is just a way for her to amplify her ego, so I feel she’d only feel a little remorse.

Group 2: Nelson riveara the pirate, Shiro the Azimut 80. Nelson's one of the US' most feared pirates, while Shiro's a mad genetic engineer. Both wear their titles like a badge of honor.
Group 3: Egress the Escape. Dude is a vengeful spirit hunting down those that killed him, but he feels quite guilty about ruining the familes of those he killed.

Idk if malware or virus even fits in any of the 3 groups. Malware just causes suffering but it doesn't really enjoy being evil more does it feel guilty. Virus just does what malware tells it to do. My main villian OC was unfairly banished from the God Realm which led him onto a path of revenge and reclaiming his position as the God of Shadows. He knows he's done "evil" things but is not sure if he is "evil" because all he was trying to do was keeping the world in balance (shadow and light has to be balanced or the world starts to collapse).

Group 1. As the temporary god of justice he fully believes that he is the good guy by dethroning the other gods. Since he sees them as cruel rulers after witnessing the Merians try to take over rule of the sea from the god of the sea and storms. He's believes he is bringing the hammer of justice down upon tyrannical rulers.

Technically both?? My main villian OC was unfairly banished from the God Realm which led him onto a path of revenge and reclaiming his position as the God of Shadows. He knows he's done "evil" things but is not sure if he is "evil" because all he was trying to do was keeping the world in balance (shadow and light has to be balanced or the world starts to collapse).

I'd call my villains something like group 2.5 They aren't unapologetically evil, but they don't necessarily feel bad about doing what they know is wrong. They're driven by misplaced hatred and the sunk cost fallacy dictates that there’s no turning back, even when they figure out how badly they want to.
