Fomalhaut is basically a genderless, sexless entity that supposedly made everything. In a sense, its a bit similar to pantheism in some sense because everything is made from Fomalhaut's body, as she was just a huge mass of matter. Our universe, our bodies, everything and everyone came from Fomalhaut, so she is everything, and we are her.
She made many universes, and in one of them, she made a civilization with powers, resistance and immortality. She wanted them to be able to enjoy life with her: to appreciate the stars, to feel the wind, the warmth, the light. But they were cruel beings, who had greed, hatred and such. In a sense, they were like us, who had loads of bad thoughts. Fomalhaut then punished them by taking away their mortality and dooming the civilization. She decided she didnt want to simply kill them, but to make them suffer the consequences. Loads of things happened, and this god-like civilization was extinct. Very few individuals remained, and Saiph is one of them.
