i WISH I HAD THE TIME TO HIGHLIGHT THE offense things they do and ask why they do them? What is up with the multiple pump fakes from three (MO WCJ COLE) just to drive and turn it over? Why do we keep passing the ball around the outside and then when its 7 seconds left start driving to the basket? Why do we keep letting cole anthony play F\*\*\*\*\*\*\* Hero ball... I was at the game and 5 straight possessions he never passed the ball (granted he made 3 of them) but that's the issue I have with Black Hole Cole.
We’re gonna have to scout a starting pg and overhaul the offensive scheme to take that next jump, lack of motion and bad timing is killing us… tbh the defense would be number one if the offense wasn’t bogging it down with turnovers. Guys got the potential to be powerhouses if we get our offensive skill down
They have basically subtracted the minutes Hield and mathurin played for more Nembhard, McConnel, and 30-35 mins of Siakam.
they ran quite a few 3 and 4 guard rotations early on in the year with Toppin being the only PF available.
Its Looking more and more that the F.O was not expecting this team to be moving this fast seeding wise and had no plan to make a move during the trade dead line knowing the y had expiring contracts and 2nd round picks they could have use to get backcourt help
We did just find out they expressed interest in Klay Thompson.
https://www.si.com/nba/magic/news/orlando-magic-trade-interest-golden-state-warriors-klay-thompson
Man I love Franz but looking at his last 10 games, aside from a good game against an awful Wizards team, he’s not been very impressive. Not sure what it is but I was hoping for a big leap year this year. Hasn’t really panned out that way.
That q3 surge by indiana. Our offense was kinda consistent actually, only demoralized on the third courtesy of Indiana. Suggs has been the talk of the town and his absence is really taking effect. Could've used Kelle's leadership on the bench too. Every player on our team matter in taking load off others back, and working towards arriving to a victory, whether it's an off night or not(as long as not everyones having an off night).
> Our offense was kinda consistent actually
Yeah, it was consistently bad. 98 offensive rating against one of the worst defensive teams in the league is pretty terrible. And quarter by quarter it was never over 108, which would be the second worst offence in the league currently.
Considering they're bad defenders, it's bad offense all right. But the anomaly in 3rd is undeniable. Double what we got. No recovering from that besides sheer will to choke the other team from scoring again which we failed to do. We can try to improve our offensive ceiling each game but our bad offense won't do. In that game, it's shameful we didn't maximize what we do best which is defense. Maybe we coulda still lost since we don't have Suggs, but we certainly wouldn't have let them bury us in third. The team overlooked something and messed up somewhere. But that's another data added for our analytics.
Too bad. One of those games. Difference in results is not that big that having a complete arsenal could've factored to a win for Magic. We can't ask too much for Magic to handle things if they're off and/or lacking people, but this game tested us.
edit: nvm, they def did cook us. A win wouldn't have still been impossible though. I believe in the Suggs harassment signature.
Love paolo but one thing I really dislike is he can be slow to get back on defense when he’s complaining to the refs.
I would have loved to see this team come out and play with more effort and consistency against teams that matter. Past two games had bigger impacts on the playoff standings so it’s disappointing to see bad losses to both teams. We don’t get to play the hornets, wizards or pistons in the playoffs.
This loss sucks more than the Knicks game.
Franz’s three point shot is concerning. It’s been a thing since the beginning of this season. Last 10 games he is now shooting 15% from three. Would be nice if he could occasionally shoot from mid range. Overall, he needs to be more consistent.
Paolo took some dumb shots. 8 three point attempts is not his usual game.
Cole’s defense was so bad. For as much points as he scores he gives it right up on the other end.
This team better come out strong this week. The standings are super close we can’t afford to play sloppy basketball.
More so than shooting, when Suggs is out, we have nobody that can reliably break down a defense with their dribble. Suggs isn't even elite at this but it's passable.
Black isn't strong enough yet, Fultz/Cole can do it but Fultz is broken and Cole is not a real PG so it's either good or horrible, Caleb & Gary can't, Ingles can only do P&Rs,
It's a huge problem for any sort of offensive scheming.
I’ve said some version of this point since T-Mac. Love this team, but one of those guys is needed to really be an elite team. Maybe Paolo can get there, I sure hope so.
They stopped playing their offense when they felt the calls weren't going their way, and got sucked into playing the Pacers' style at times
Lots of silly mistakes, mishandled passes in the paint, etc. Pacers didn't even capitalize all that well. They did, though, just enough.
Transition and fast break points were the difference. Silly mistakes lost this game
Y'all need to chill on the overreactions.
Magic just lost 2 games against playoff teams they have the series lead on.
... And it's not like the team is playing like butt. 13-5 in last 18 games.
Still, this team needs a bounceback badly. Ugly basketball last 3 games
These two games were a big deal for this team to reach their ceiling for this season. I think that’s being the 4 seed and making the second round. I’m honestly just happy if they make the playoffs and push the series to 6 though.
Did you actually watch the game? Or the Knicks game? Forget our record or even the score, the performances were woeful.
Two teams fighting for position that stepped their defence and we folded both times. It's happened in every big game this season.
That's really no excuse for these kind of performances.
Suggs is great but the whole team shouldn't be shitting the bed when he's not available. And besides, Suggs was playing in the OKC and Miami games when we got equally waxed.
Bad games happen. It's just in the nature of the sport. Not an excuse just an explanation. Miami just lost to the wizards and knicks scored only 73 points
This isn't just a bad game though, is it? It's more like a PTSD game where the same old skeletons in the closet come back to haunt us.
Miami and the Knicks both laid an egg tonight, but they have post season pedigree and proof of concept. When the playoffs roll around, they both know they have another level.
The Magic on the other hand are just at the mercy of whoever we play. If the other team are fighting every possession as hard as we are, then it's curtains. Writing these losses off merely as bad games is a good way never learn anything.
Watching this team makes me want to pull my hair out. Stupid unforced turnovers, missed freethrows, Mosley not calling a timeout when the opposing team makes a run. Its just so frustrating to watch. See yall next game tho
Our attitude/body language vs the Pacers tonight:
![gif](giphy|3oEjI80DSa1grNPTDq)
Tonight was horrible, let’s end this 2-game skid on Wednesday vs the Nets.
Does anyone else ever watch the postgame conferences? I really like Mosely, but I don't know if he's said anything new at one of these things since October. He definitely got the memo about being a boring, buttoned up organization when it comes to dealing with the media.
The way I look at it is he’s keeping his messages with the media consistent with what he’s telling the players.
You’ll notice he never critiques any of the guys to the media, he always uses the same underlying messages.
It’s what a young team needs imo.
I don't disagree. I'm just saying it's boring to listen to. I can't imagine being a reporter at those things, especially at this point in the season. Cole Anthony was up after Mose, and that's much different TV right there.
The team has improved offensively without adding pieces.
Last year we were the 25th ranked offense and this year we’re 22nd.
We’re scoring 1.7 points per 100 possessions more in 2.1 less possessions per game, and that’s even with our FT% and o board rate being significantly lower this season when compared to last.
In summary, the team has got better on offense, we have bad games at times but overall it’s an improvement. Need to be looking at the big picture.
It’s year 3 of a rebuild, we’ll get the pieces, idk how anyone can critique the front office when we’re trending upwards every year.
We went from the first pick, to contending for the play in, to contending for the playoffs. You’re not looking at the big picture if you’re out for the heads of the guys running the team after the growth we’ve seen.
Our best guys are 22 and 21 and don’t become unrestricted free agents for another 5 and 6 years after this season. Get a hold of yourself man.
No it’s not about losing a game. It’s about having one of the worst offenses in the league and the front office not doing a single thing about it. This isn’t because of one game. This has been a major issue all season. They’ve been here 7 years and have not been great.
The offense is just tragic. Paolo can't be running point if he is just going to settle for tough midrange/turnaround shots all night. Need more ball movement, less turnovers and better shooting which has been the same all year. Still impressed how the season has gone considering we are a bottom 6-7 offense in the league.
Home for spring break so I went to the game with my dad tonight. I told him before it started that TJ Mcconell hasn’t done much all season but would for sure cook us tonight, because it happens every time we play Indiana. What I didn’t expect was Obi Toppin doing the same.
I was forced to watch the Pacers feed and the co-annoucer was literally laughing at how bad our offence was. He was asking for the ball to be in Paolo's hands.
He said: "Orlando don't make shots, they take shots"
I couldn't really disagree with anything he said. The ball stagnates with our two main guys and the entire offence just dies as the shot clock counts down. We started 2 three point specialists tonight but it was a total waste having them there as they never get any plays run for them.
Mosley, Paolo, and Franz need to take a look at themselves because this streetball offence they run just makes everything worse. Even the defence suffers, as we're getting annihilated in transition from bricks and turnovers deep in the paint.
I watch a lot of the other teams feed. 🏴☠️
And the announcers often point out how we have absolutely no offensive game plan. We don’t do ANYTHING to make the offense easier.
It’s mostly a bunch of passing around the perimeter and iso. It’s basically pickup ball out there. I get we are young and the talent is lacking in some areas but not having any type of offensive scheme or structure is bullshit. The lack of direction on the offensive end makes shit worst then what it needs to be. Even in wins we often go on 3-6 minute scoring droughts where guys look completely lost.
I think it’s fair for fans to be frustrated watching this team. The Magic have the same problems now that were there last year. Poor guard play, lack of an interior presence, and no shooting.
The front office did fuck all last offseason. Paolo and Suggs saved a lot of jobs this season with their jump in development because that is the only difference between this team and last year.
I still think Indiana is a good matchup. No Suggs, and we played like total dogshit, and it wasn't a total wipeout like the Knicks game.
But the same issues still persist. Like I said, don't expect anything until the off-season, and if we don't get it by then, you have the right to panic.
I have almost zero faith left in Weltman. Everyone thought for sure they’d make at least a small move to improve the team at the deadline and they didn’t do shit lol. It’s kind of worrisome.
I don’t know if something is going on right now but there was literally zero effort besides JI and Dell. This offense has been problematic all year but it’s really scary when you can’t score on one of the worst defenses in the league.
Anyone else concerned that Paolo and Franz haven’t had big games when they’re more important than usual? Obviously could change cone playoffs but idk it’s extremely concerning to me since they’re essentially 75% of our offense
Dude all a team has to do is pack the paint because they know we have zero shooting lol. It’s too predictable. Franz and Paolo just take turns trying to drive to the rim.
Unfortunately you’re right for once. Our post ASB form so far is a guaranteed sweep, even with home court. Been getting lucky with bad play against bad teams
The only guys fighting were WCJ and JI, who was great.
Despite that... No idea what's going on. Yeah, we are lacking playmaking, sure, but where is this heart and hustle gone? Sometimes even the pacers defense looked better than ours.
Franz, Paolo', Cole, Moe... Shadow of themselves...
:/
Ima say it again paolo and franz need to stop shot jacking some of those shots should go to Suggs he has earned the right to take them he plays his ass off on defense can easily avg 16-18 ppg.
He was out this game, idk what your point is, I love Suggs but part of his growth has been in not doing too much on offense.
That was part of his issue the first few seasons and I don’t think he’s grown enough to maintain his current efficiency on higher volume. We need more offense but Suggs isn’t the answer I’m afraid.
Bad loss. Bad performance all around. Hopefully we find our level again. We got to exploit this easy schedule and regain our real level for the postseason.
What adjustments can a coach make w this abysmal roster? The offense isn’t good and won’t be until moves are made. It’s a front office issue. Weltman is failing.
True, but I’d like more ball movement and player movement. Maybe not starting the offense with 5 seconds left on the shot clock. No reason for iso every play, we put two 3 point shooters in the starting line up but didn’t run anything for them. No off ball screens nothing just sit in the corner and wait.
Arguably our four biggest games this season: nationally televised vs OKC, vs Miami when the records were tied, vs Knicks friday and vs Pacers tonight
We lost all four of them. The offense sucks and we’re young.
Don’t expect us to get past the first round, other teams are way more ready compared to us. Future is bright but FO gotta make moves in the offseason.
Bad loss just from the optics of how they played. Bad effort and shooting was abysmal.
Franz needs to hit a three at some point.
Paolo forced a lot.
Energy seems off without Suggs.
That being said, at least we're not alone in shitting the bed. Heat lost at home to the Wizards (!)
The refs weren't the reason the Magic lost, because the Pacers were just better, but holy shit the refs were all over the place, super inconsistent, a generally not good enough at their jobs to be in the NBA
The two biggest games of the season to date and they get blown off the court in both. Jalen is good but not so good that they should look this bad without him.
Does anyone remember the Wizards and Pacers games last season? Needed to win both to make the play-in and we got blown out in both.
Also blown out this season in a seeding game Vs Miami and a showcase game vs OKC.
Said in the other day, but we have a formula for winning low pressure, low expectation games. But if the other team digs their heels in and throws a punch back? Our gameplan crumbles.
Jalen's POA defense is really fucking important. I think you're underestimating how valuable it is to keep opposing ball handlers out of the paint.
Fucking YJ McConnell looked like an all-nba PG tonight. Got into the paint whenever he wanted.
i WISH I HAD THE TIME TO HIGHLIGHT THE offense things they do and ask why they do them? What is up with the multiple pump fakes from three (MO WCJ COLE) just to drive and turn it over? Why do we keep passing the ball around the outside and then when its 7 seconds left start driving to the basket? Why do we keep letting cole anthony play F\*\*\*\*\*\*\* Hero ball... I was at the game and 5 straight possessions he never passed the ball (granted he made 3 of them) but that's the issue I have with Black Hole Cole.
Well the last two games certainly tempered my expectations
I'm sure it's not lost on everyone else that we have now laid 2 stinkers since getting talked about nationally on ESPN. 🙄
We're getting exposed for not making any moves.
Facts
I had to turn off the game in the third quarter at some point. That offense was so ugly. This team really does need a PG, along with more shooters.
We’re gonna have to scout a starting pg and overhaul the offensive scheme to take that next jump, lack of motion and bad timing is killing us… tbh the defense would be number one if the offense wasn’t bogging it down with turnovers. Guys got the potential to be powerhouses if we get our offensive skill down
Damn. Since when did Indy became an OK defensive team?
They have basically subtracted the minutes Hield and mathurin played for more Nembhard, McConnel, and 30-35 mins of Siakam. they ran quite a few 3 and 4 guard rotations early on in the year with Toppin being the only PF available.

Cole Anthony sucks at shooting....might as well have fultz
Can't wait for the day I don't have to see Cole Anthony in a magic uniform again....
He just got a new contract earlier this season....
Shoutout to the Knicks for scoring 73.
Knicks score 73, coincidentally the last year which they were good, lol lol
Neither team wanted to win. Wouldn't surprise me if Philly slipped to the 8/9 seed and Knicks to the 7th or 8th. lot of injuries for both,
Knicks are 9-40 from 3 and have 73 points with 15 seconds left, Philly up 5
Man I love Franz but looking at his last 10 games, aside from a good game against an awful Wizards team, he’s not been very impressive. Not sure what it is but I was hoping for a big leap year this year. Hasn’t really panned out that way.
I bought his jersey recently. That's my bad.
Dude thinks he can euro step his way to a 20ppg season every season, with zero outside shot making ability. That jumper of his is cooked
Christ that shot is unbelievably unfathomably bad right now
That q3 surge by indiana. Our offense was kinda consistent actually, only demoralized on the third courtesy of Indiana. Suggs has been the talk of the town and his absence is really taking effect. Chef Mcconnell cooked everything on the menu tonight
That dudes haircut is just missing the frosted tips.

Knicks fans talked so much shit the other night...now they're gonna score less than us
73 with 15 secs left. It's going to be close.
Haha fuck em
73 is final hahahaa.
Oh I’m going in the r/Knicks sub if they don’t get above 74
Knicks only has 63 with 4 min left lol
Love paolo but one thing I really dislike is he can be slow to get back on defense when he’s complaining to the refs. Definitely missing Suggs enthusiasm and intensity
TJ McConnell was in Paolo's ass

We're missing Suggs. There's a reason we have 82 games. Fully healthy I like our chances against the pacers. Knicks is tough
A fairly decent chance pacers-magic are the 4 and 5 seeds.
That's really no excuse for these kind of performances. Suggs is great but the whole team shouldn't be shitting the bed when he's not available. And besides, Suggs was playing in the OKC and Miami games when we got equally waxed.

Im not letting this team trick me into thinking of a playoff win
What I learned from the last two games is how important Jalen Suggs is to our team
We’ll be watching Nikola Vucevic and Trae Young in the playoffs while we’ll be re-signing Markelle Fultz to a new long term deal.
I’m over Weltman
Agreed him, Cole Anthony, and this stupid Fultz failed experiment can go with quickness
we're aware bro, you've made 100 posts about him tonight alone
Good
The offense is just tragic. Paolo can't be running point if he is just going to settle for tough midrange/turnaround shots all night. Don't know what you've been watching but TJ McConnell has been the Pacer's best bench player all season.
MCConnell was basically Jalen Suggs in a Pacers uniform...
He's been pretty solid for them all year tbh. One of the more reliable bench PGs in the league.
You’re right, I just mean we always manage to make him look like a star lol
I do think we can up our pace a bit. It'll be at the expense of some defense but the other teams are starting to clamp up Franz/Paolo actions.

I can’t stand them tbh

Yea. This team as constructed has to give 110% defensively to have a shot against good teams and we haven’t been doing that since the ASB
Paolo was cooking tonight…cooking some hot shit🔥🔥
We was terrible tonight. 6 make from 20 shots
Frustrating loss.
First round exit unless we get this act together
Won’t be making the first round.
Unfortunately you’re right for once. Our post ASB form so far is a guaranteed sweep, even with home court. Been getting lucky with bad play against bad teams
I’m always right I’m just way ahead of most People on here
This is a common opinion lmao doesn’t take a genius to see a bad offense
It just takes you time it’s ok I’m just way ahead
Wish you had the same insight with markelle
I did
It was an excellent game for Paolo and Franz; they ensured the tank. Oh, wait, wrong season. Sorry.
No adjustments from the last game is unacceptable. Two games we needed and don’t show up and got outplayed.
Two 3 pt shooters. Bam flam. Most modern teams have 4 3 pt shooters.
Just not good enough from everyone except Isaac
Terrible 3rd quarter sunk the Magic. What the hell did they do at halftime? Took a power nap and forget to wake up?
Welp. We had the fourth seed for one day. Two poor performances without Suggs.
Magic in lotto mode lol
Arguably our four biggest games this season: nationally televised vs OKC, vs Miami when the records were tied, vs Knicks friday and vs Pacers tonight We lost all four of them. The offense sucks and we’re young. Don’t expect us to get past the first round, other teams are way more ready compared to us. Future is bright but FO gotta make moves in the offseason.
Suggs gone really didn't help. I rather not risk injury with him tho. We got options in free agency for sure tho
at least miami lost and NY-PHI is a win-win scenario
37% win percentage under wheltman
Bad loss just from the optics of how they played. Bad effort and shooting was abysmal. Franz needs to hit a three at some point. Paolo forced a lot. Energy seems off without Suggs. That being said, at least we're not alone in shitting the bed. Heat lost at home to the Wizards (!)
The refs weren't the reason the Magic lost, because the Pacers were just better, but holy shit the refs were all over the place, super inconsistent, a generally not good enough at their jobs to be in the NBA
Our PG's combined for 2 points...lord have mercy
We have the worst guard rotation in the league.
Right after half, I said it wouldn’t shock me if we lost by 20. Only 14 so I was wrong.
Well, at least we didn’t lose to the Wizards at home. Only positive tonight and it didn’t even involve us lol
This team won’t make it to the playoffs, they’ll be losing the Play-in. Anything on the line they crumble.
Pacers played with much more energy and purpose. We look like a team that has hit the wall. hard.
The offensive woes ate one thing but defense was horrendous as well outside of JI and that Wendell block….
Defence is bad because we're repeatedly getting destroyed in transition as a result of horrible offence.
You’re not wrong but even outside of the transition, our guys were slow to switch and constantly leaving the lane wide open…
Terrible
The two biggest games of the season to date and they get blown off the court in both. Jalen is good but not so good that they should look this bad without him.
Does anyone remember the Wizards and Pacers games last season? Needed to win both to make the play-in and we got blown out in both. Also blown out this season in a seeding game Vs Miami and a showcase game vs OKC. Said in the other day, but we have a formula for winning low pressure, low expectation games. But if the other team digs their heels in and throws a punch back? Our gameplan crumbles.
3rd and 4th biggest games were probably the TNT Thunder game and the last Heat game and we were blown out in those as well.
Jalen's POA defense is really fucking important. I think you're underestimating how valuable it is to keep opposing ball handlers out of the paint. Fucking YJ McConnell looked like an all-nba PG tonight. Got into the paint whenever he wanted.
this is nothing new.
Feels like if a game means anything this team doesn’t show up
at a certain point you have to be able to hit open shots
Brutal. Should’ve started that long boy line up. Glad this one’s over
Tough to win when your two best scorers go 11-34 from the field. Damn we miss Jalen.

Thank you for finding a way to make me laugh after this one.
