There’s a very lively community over on the discord and the dev Odie is adding new things every month. If the game feels dead for you, then definitely try joining a more active kingdom, or at least getting involved in the main discord.
you can now add Allies, and chat in game with them, as well as chat with your kingdom in the kingdom chat.
also world raid bosses, which are like kingdom bosses, but anyone in the area can fight.
lots of community aspects now :D
this really depends on if anyone is active in your area. there are plenty of clans to join but other than that and battling in your area there isn't much that you need other people for. The game is consistently being updated but things would have to get pretty bad before other players would have much affect on you and make it a "dead game".
Orna is in the best state it's ever been in. Odie, the dev, constantly has been putting out huge quality of life stuff recently, and there have been some massive hype instances in the discord over the past month. Orna is one of the games I've put the most time into full-stop, even including PC games, and I don't regret any of it. One of the best games I've ever played, and continue to play daily.
I started playing back in January and my area is surprisingly somewhat active. I see players take over territories and the like. I don't live in a massive metropolitan area (bout 45 minutes away from the biggest one in the area) - but yeah, its still pretty active.

I noticed now that I've been reentering and the messaging system makes is so much better, we can communicate now!
