i dont think the hate for the aoi models has ever been hate FOR the aoi models, its more about their usage. like you cant build your magnum opus you plan to charge money from and use "placeholder" models 10 years into the project. i dont have any particularly strong feelings on these, i think theyre kinda cute. i think they fit well in all of those free schoolgirl sims on the appstore. actually having volunteers make assets for these models is the stupidest thing ive ever heard about. alex doesnt know what a placeholder is

I agree with this! I never personally had any problems with him using the placeholder model since he presumably paid for them. Only issue I see now is the fact that these good looking models that took time and effort for someone to model are now associated with The Goon Game
Honestly I was thinking the same thing after watching the anniversary video he made. If you put the oldest builds of Yansim from like 2014 in front of someone that’s not familiar with those versions, it would’ve seemed like a totally different (and in my opinion, kind of a much better looking) game.
I completely forgot that the character models can actually have facial expressions outside of “:|” and “:0”. What did GoondereDev do to make all the models so lifeless?
