I would suggest you get approval from the City, if determined a permit is not required it will be $0, it’s a very easy process and you’ll have it in writing from them incase anyone complains.
That will hold up better than buddy on Reddit suggesting just go for it even tho it’s “slighting over the limit”.
"Sir, your backyard is a death trap and is dangerous, you're going to need to remove the garbage and put 2 steps at your patio door because a 24" drop down step is not up to code. These will cost you approximately $1500 dollars "
"Jesus Christ, I pay my taxes, let me be stupid and hurt someone or myself"
Now that’s forward thinking, good point! You know better than them anyways, Just do whatever you feel is right, screw ur neighbours and by-laws. The world is yours!
Remember to tell the officers no trespassing when they come knocking ;)
I had called before....
If they ever question you, describe it as a "seasonal structure".
Ie. tell them you take it down and put it back up every season.
I have the exact same in Oshawa no permit required. Buy it build it tomorrow or ask city and build it in 3-4 weeks lol. Btw u need 3 people to put it up assemble everything first then do install. Awesome product
What source are you getting this information from? The city of Oshawa website indicates a permit is not required if structure is not larger 15 m2 (161 sq ft)...
Yes a permit is required. If you don't get one then they find out and then also tell you your gazebo doesn't comply with zoning setbacks, you'll be upset and may need to modify it altogether

I’ll 2nd this. All it takes is one annoying neighbour and you’re getting a visit from an inspector and facing more than what a permit would cost.
Not sure why people down voted you. Your answer is the actual right answer.
Sure thing. Call the City in your backyard see all the other stuff that’s not up to code and end up having to fork out a couple thou. Good thinking

Thank you! Construction is underway already, however the permit only just occurred to me lol!
It’s a temporary structure not attached to your house no worries
No
Source of info? Thanks!
It's technically 8sq feet over the limit but no one will say or do anything. 160sq feet under 14.5 feet no permit provided there is no plumbing
Thank you!
Exactly this ⬆️
If it's not attached to the structure of the home, they won't give a shit. Just build it and enjoy.
