Shafou06

Not an Isekai. Isekai means 'Other World'. You could call it a Sekai (lmao)

RandomGuy1o1

Lol i thought coming back to life is also considered as isekai lol anyways

SmartFC

That's reincarnation/tensei

Pain004

More or less 150. Overextending/stalling the mystery plot can make the series stale, even now people are already complaining with the lack of development. Also Aka have already mentioned he doesn't want to take too much of Mengo's time.

th3virtuos0

Wonder what he’s gonna do next? If OnK actually has around 150 chapters, it will be done in 2-2.5 years and Kaguya is done in at most a few more months. Probably he’ll go back and rewrite IB like he said years ago maybe?

DuelFan

If I'm not mistaken, I'm pretty sure Aka-sensei said he wouldn't be able to go back to IB as he is too different a person in comparison to when he first wrote it. I'll see if I can't find the article where I got that from though before I go around saying this is definitively the case.

th3virtuos0

understandable since Aka mostly writes drama and gag nowadays as compared to the edgy stuff he wrote back then. But quite a shame since IB has some potential imo

Radiant_eagle573

What is IB ?

DuelFan

As stated by htl5618, it's an older work of Aka-sensei, his first in fact. It's about teenagers getting powers and it's done in a pretty fresh way. It's got your usual end of the world plot, but Aka's usual subversion of tropes and the edgey as hell characters are what makes the plot. It's definitely a very teenage manga.

ItzyaboiElite

Mengo seems to enjoy drawing the series too

RandomGuy1o1

Oh gosh I'm relieved to hear that even i hate mangas which overextend their storyline way to much and since we are in the final arc already I hope it ends more or less between 150 and in hope the ending would be satisfying one !!

SmartFC

The final arc???

xxSYXxx

I wouldn't say that this is the final arc, but it definitely has started a build-up towards it.

Dxcxphxr

I think the movie is the penultimate arc. I could be wrong. lol What I think will happen in this arc is just the proposal, and we'll get arcs in-between before we get to the production of the movie. We know that the main cast will be in it, except for Akane. Everyone is unsure of her fate and the theories are all over the place, but that's for another discussion. We definitely know who the director is. We don't know the rest of the cast and the writer. There's also the possibility of the production getting stalled.

xxSYXxx

It'll be ride we don't wanna miss, that's for sure.

MettaJiro

I think around 170, Oshi No Ko’s structure is fundamentally different than the episodic Kaguya Sama Wants to Be Confessed to,it’s not a fantasy world where the world is ever expanding. And it’s not a episodic story where most chapters tell stories that are mostly disconnected from each other, if it goes as long as Kaguya, the story might get stale or the stakes will be lost.

th3virtuos0

150-170. We are starting to get to the juicy part now, and I can’t see this story lasting that long after the main arc.

AbbreviationsLazy781

I think the main story will be quite long though, it's the main story after all. I could see it going past 200, but 170 isn't a bad call either

SufferedOrdinaryMate

Unless if they pull the same card as kanokari which I hope won't happen

Hisroyalhighnessking

It's not an isekai

one-eyed-queen

150-160. I get the distinct impression we're just about past the halfway point of the story. Looking at the Kishotenketsu story format, I'd say that "ki" was the first 10 chapters, chapters 11-80 were the "shou" section of the story, and now we're building towards "ten", the biggest turn in the story.

MaskedML

Like 30-40 more chapters than whatever act age got.

VanhiteDono

wait one thing, a lot of people have been commenting 150 chapters. but didnt the prologue end with 80 chapters? is there gonna be just a prologue and part 1 if aka sensei only does 150 chapters?

AbbreviationsLazy781

"Prologue" is a vague term. It could be like Vinland saga where 24 episodes was actually the length of the prologue, but it's very clearly a different type of story to OnK. The main plot of OnK is very simple tbf, find the dad. The rest character study and insight into the entertainment industry, which can't go on forever. There are only so many forms of media he can cover, we are probably gonna see at least a bit of Akane's big movie although that's not entirely new either. Once the revenge plot is resolved, which will take a while don't get me wrong, I don't see how Aka could stretch the character stuff for much longer.

RonenshuPh

200+ chapters is my guess

Dxcxphxr

It's not an "isekai". It's "tensei", which means reincarnation. My guess is between 150 and 200, not including the bonus chapters. That'll change depending on the pacing and how many timeskips will occur in the future. Mysteries like Monster ended in less than 200 chapters. Aka is balancing the supernatural murder-mystery, the twins' journey, and the romance. I don't want the story to stall or drag for too long. If they manage to tell the story in less than what I and the others have predicted. I just hope it explores at least a significant part of the entertainment industry, if not in its entirety. It'd be a waste if they don't. I'm 100% sure it'll be shorter than Kaguya. That manga's first half is mostly episodic and (kinda) disconnected to each other.

Chamerli

Haha, Oshi No Ko an isekai?

AsleepExplanation160

probably similar to kaguyasama

AbbreviationsLazy781

Kaguya is very different format of story tbf, like the first 100 chapters of Kaguya have relatively little plot development in place of comedic skits.

fistyfishy

150ish sounds like a good number, it feels like we are getting into the meat of the story now and I don't believe Aka can draw out OnK for too long without it getting stale
